The website mentioned an interest in Sci Fi & that you sometimes write music for sci fi themes, so I am curious - have you ever written music relating to the TV Sci - Fi series Firefly (2002/2003)? I am genuinely enjoying interviewing bands that we play on the show. And this one didn't disappoint. I have met Adam a couple of times and we always have a great time. I look forward to having him and the Bhoys back to The Syracuse Irish Festival soon. We had a great discussion about the background to original material, stories from the road. As far away as the Middle East to entertain the troops. How cool is that? I hope that you're enjoying this new podcasts format. Please remember that you can listen live every Sunday at 9:00 pm (est) at https://tk99.net/ If you're one of the bands we play or know someone who is and would like to be on one of our interviews. Actually went to school with Seamus Kennedy who you have featured on some shows. In 1980 I moved to US and I now live in Somersworth NH, next to Dover for past 25+ years. Dover is where Tommy Makem made his home and whose family are friends of ours– people from the textile mills in Armagh were some of the founders of the City. It was here where I came back to the music and started dancing again at age of 50 and picked up a mandolin that I love to play, albeit not great, but have fun One of my daughters is married and lives in Dartmouth Nova Scotia and I fell in love with the NS Scottish/Irish music and song during my visits, she is an accomplished artist and did artwork for an album I made with a group called An Banna Ceoil several years ago; we don’t play out anymore but are still playing “house” music Came across your podcast through iTunes a couple of months ago and will now be a regular; love the live sessions from the pubs Keep the music alive Marc, it keeps us young in mind and heart. This week on Windy City Irish Radio, the boys continue to celebrate the 2017 Class of Inductees to The Irish American Hall of Fame in part two of a two part series. The purpose of the Irish American Hall of Fame is to preserve the “story” of the Irish in America and their bountiful contributions to this country and to our society. The Induction Gala will be held this Saturday night in front of a sell out crowd at the Irish American Heritage Center. Tune in for tributes to this year's class including author and scholar Larry McCaffrey, astronaut twin brothers Captain Mark Kelly and Captain Scott Kelly, hotelier/philanthropist John Fitzpatrick, actor/comedian Bill Murray, and Chicago's very own Hometown Heroes Flood Brothers. With brand new music from Sharon Shannon and Finbar Furey, a track from Dublin Gospel Choir with Paddy Casey, Wild Colonial Bhoys, Andrew Bird, The Chieftains with both astronaut, Cady Coleman, with guitar legend, Chet Atkins, and an apt closing number from Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem -- It's a show befitting Hall of Fame status! Tune in every Wednesday night from 8PM to 9PM to WSBC 1240 AM and catch this week's podcast at www.windycityirishradio.com.

Today's show is brought to you by Celtic Invasion Vacations Every year, I take Celtic music fans on an adventure of a lifetime. This is not your typical wham-bam-thank you m'aam tour. We travel in small groups. We explore the Celtic history of different regions. We don't need to see everything, because this is a vacation. Instead, our invasion brings out the relaxation and magic of our adventure. In 2018, you can join me on a Celtic Invasion of the Isle of Skye in Scotland. Sign up to the mailing list at celticinvasion.com. Notes: * Helping you celebrate Celtic culture through music. My name is Marc Gunn. I am a musician and podcaster. So if you're new, I want to welcome to the incredible world of Celtic music. We celebrate St Patrick's Day all year long. Every week, you get an action-packed, hour-long show full of Celtic music. Many of these bands are small, independent artists whoh don't have the financial support of a giant record label. They can't afford a publicist. So I bring you their music for free... with the hope that you might find a new favorite band and buy their music. If you enjoy what you hear. Please support the artists. You can also support this pdocast by sharing it with your friends. * CELTIC PODCAST NEWS: As always, I want to send out a HUGE thanks to the patrons of the podcast. Thus my love of this music. I found you by accident, but I adhere to the concept that there are no accidents ... there is only some purpose that we haven't yet understood." John Thompson emailed: "Just a quick e-mail after listening to show #279. Another great one! A listener commented on the band Scythian. It's pronounced Sith' ee in. They're from the DC area. The founding band members (two brothers and now a sister) actually have Ukrainian heritage. They play quite an assortment of music including Celtic and folk -- traditional, covers, and original material. A band you really need to see live to fully appreciate the energy they bring to their shows. Old Tin Can I think was their latest studio album but they followed that with a live cd called Old Time Good Time Tour. Give it a listen if you get the chance. Keep up the great work!" Steven Rausch emailed: "You ask what we do when listening to the Irish and Celtic Music Podcast. Well, I'm in the home stretch of a painting project on my 130-year-old farmhouse. I fire up my headset with your podcast, working my way from the newest to the ones I've enjoyed previously. A great way to work and makes the job go faster and easier. Also, I wanted to highlight a tune by the Elders, "Appalachian Paddy," from a recent podcast. It's a long one but a great story of how the Irish came to my part of the country. Talk about an earworm. Whether playing festivals and touring as their five-piece, guitar and fiddle-driven rock lineup or as a pared-down acoustic pub duo, the Bhoys have successfully forged their own unique place in the Irish/Celtic musical genre. Today's show is brought to you by My Irish Jeweler My Irish Jeweler is a great website out of Dublin, Ireland. They make Celtic Rings & Jewelry for Men & Women and ship for Free all over the world. Amber Rodland was excited to hear about our sponsor because she wrote: I have always had a love for all things Celtic. We were never a fan of traditional wedding bands. My husband searched the web and found My Irish Jeweler. We fell in love with the Book of Kells band and got it in platinum, and we love them! I cannot say enough about the attention to detail put into these bands. In fact, the jeweler actually called us from Dublin, Ireland to confirm our sizes. The rings are very unique and a great reflection of us as a couple. We'll have been married for three years this coming Samhain, and I still get compliments on our bands. They are so beautiful and well-crafted. I recommend My Irish Jeweler to my friends looking for unique jewelry with a Celtic flair. But it's not just about wedding rings. My Irish Jeweler has a great range of Celtic Cross Pendants, Claddagh Jewelry and other super gift ideas. Always made in Ireland. Always free shipping. Go to MyIrishJeweler.com/celticmusic.
