Play Episode Listen Later Apr 11, 2025 47:44

In this episode of the TAO-Living podcast, I had the immense pleasure of speaking with Coach Storm Sims, a remarkable individual with an impressive background as a 28-year veteran of the U.S. military. Storm is not only a master fitness trainer but also a Spartan SGX coach, martial arts instructor, military combatives instructor, parkour instructor, and now a ninja warrior instructor. His diverse expertise and passion for self-improvement resonate deeply with the core themes of the TAO Living podcast, which focuses on the art of living and the journey of constant self-discovery. We dove right into the conversation by exploring the profound connection between movement and mental-emotional resilience. Storm emphasized that our bodies are designed to move, and engaging in physical activity releases essential chemicals in the brain, such as dopamine, which can lead to a flow state and a craving for movement. This connection is vital, especially in a society that has become increasingly sedentary. We discussed how movement not only enhances physical fitness but also improves mental clarity and emotional well-being. Storm shared insights from his gym in Clarksville, Tennessee, where he focuses on teaching practical and tactical embodiment to enhance resilience. His mission is to provide individuals with the right mindset and training to overcome challenges, which aligns perfectly with the podcast's theme of empowerment and growth. We talked about the importance of challenging societal norms, particularly the misconception that aging means slowing down. Instead, Storm advocates for continuous movement and engagement, regardless of age, to maintain vitality and strength. Throughout our discussion, we touched on the significance of overcoming obstacles, both in the gym and in life. Storm shared a framework he uses to help his clients break down challenges into manageable steps, allowing them to build confidence and momentum. This approach not only applies to physical training but also translates into everyday life, helping individuals tackle projects and personal goals without feeling overwhelmed. We also explored the importance of lifelong learning and how it contributes to mental agility and resilience. Storm highlighted that when we stop learning, we risk stagnation and decline, both mentally and physically. He encouraged listeners to embrace new skills and knowledge, reinforcing the idea that growth is a continuous journey. As we wrapped up the episode, Storm left us with a powerful message: to claim your life and take action towards your dreams. Whether it's planning a trip or pursuing a new passion, he urged listeners to reverse engineer their goals and start taking steps towards achieving them. This episode is a treasure trove of insights on movement, mindset, and the art of living fully. I encourage you to listen in, absorb the wisdom Storm shares, and consider how you can apply these principles to your own life. 00:00:00 - Introduction to TAO Living Podcast Welcome to the TAO Living podcast with host Lou Corleto and guest Storm Sims, a veteran and fitness expert. 00:01:30 - Storm Sims' Impressive Background Overview of Storm's extensive experience in the military and various fitness disciplines. 00:02:44 - The Importance of Movement Discussion on how movement enhances mental and emotional capacities. 00:06:00 - Mind-Body Connection Exploration of the interconnectedness of mind, body, and spirit in personal growth. 00:08:05 - Obstacle Training and Its Benefits How obstacle training improves physical and mental resilience. 00:10:12 - Quality of Life Through Movement The significance of maintaining physical abilities as we age. 00:12:45 - Teaching Proper Falling Techniques Importance of learning how to fall safely to prevent injuries. 00:14:25 - Challenging Societal Norms Addressing the societal expectations around aging and physical activity. 00:16:10 - Building Confidence Through Training How training helps individuals regain trust in their bodies. 00:18:01 - Regrets of the Dying Discussion on common regrets and the importance of living fully. 00:20:25 - Recommended Reading Suggestions for books that inspire personal growth and challenge societal norms. 00:22:35 - Three Essential Tools for Coaching Storm shares his top three tools for helping clients overcome obstacles. 00:29:29 - The Power of Lifelong Learning The importance of continuous learning for mental health and personal development. 00:30:58 - Movement as a Key to Longevity How regular movement contributes to a longer, healthier life. 00:34:07 - Overcoming Negative Influences Strategies for managing negativity from society and media. 00:39:05 - Mindset for Achieving Goals Encouragement to focus on long-term goals and progress. 00:43:00 - Claiming Your Life Final thoughts on taking control of one's life and pursuing dreams. Drawing from personal experiences and global events, I highlight how crises—be it natural disasters like wildfires and hurricanes or economic downturns such as the 2008 financial crash and the COVID-19 pandemic—can leave many feeling overwhelmed and unprepared. I share my journey of transformation, where I sought out experts across various fields, including psychology, neurology, and spirituality, to develop a comprehensive process that equips individuals with the tools to navigate life's unpredictability. This episode introduces the "Five Day Finland Immersion," a transformative program designed to help participants become "bulletproof" against life's challenges. Throughout the episode, I outline the three-step process that participants will engage in during the immersion. The first secret focuses on becoming bulletproof by managing both external and internal environments, emphasizing the importance of brain, breath, and body. I explain how understanding epigenetics can empower individuals to take control of their health and well-being. The second secret introduces the "lightning-fast method" for overcoming fears and healing deep traumas without the need for years of therapy. I discuss the significance of rewriting one's narrative and making fear an ally rather than a hindrance. The third secret encourages embracing discomfort as a pathway to growth. I emphasize the importance of experiential learning, where participants will not only learn but also practice these transformative techniques in a supportive environment. I also introduce my esteemed colleagues who will be joining us in Finland, including world record holder Johanna Norblad, who will guide participants in harnessing the power of breath and cold immersion to enhance mental resilience. As I detail the logistics of the immersion, I invite listeners to consider the value of investing in their personal growth and resilience. The episode concludes with a call to action, encouraging those interested to apply for the program and take the first step toward becoming bulletproof in their lives. Embracing the Journey: Conscious Dying and the Art of Transition with Jane Burnier

In this enlightening episode of the TAO-Living Podcast, titled "Conscious Dying," I, Lou Corleto, have the immense privilege of hosting Jane Burnier, a seasoned teacher and practitioner in the realms of healing and consciousness. Our conversation dives deep into a topic that is often shrouded in fear and taboo within Western culture: death and the process of dying. We begin by exploring Jane's personal journey into the world of conscious dying, which was profoundly influenced by her experiences during the AIDS crisis in the 1980s. Witnessing the fear and isolation faced by those suffering from the disease, Jane felt a calling to provide comfort and support to individuals during their final moments. Through her work as a Reiki and massage practitioner, she discovered the beauty and transformation that can occur as a person approaches death, shedding their ego and revealing their true essence. As we unpack the cultural narratives surrounding death, I share my own upbringing, which was steeped in fear and avoidance of the subject. Jane and I discuss how this fear often leads to a lack of authentic connection during the dying process, both for the individual and their loved ones. We emphasize the importance of creating a supportive environment that allows for peace, acceptance, and love during this sacred transition. Throughout the episode, Jane shares poignant stories from her experiences, illustrating the profound moments of clarity and beauty that can arise as individuals approach their final breath. We discuss the significance of conscious dying—not just as an end, but as a continuation of the soul's journey and a vital part of the collective consciousness. We also touch on the role of the medical-industrial complex in prolonging suffering and the importance of advocating for a death that aligns with one's values and beliefs. Jane emphasizes the need for open conversations about death, encouraging listeners to reflect on their own beliefs and fears surrounding the topic. As we near the conclusion of our discussion, Jane offers practical advice for both those who are dying and their loved ones. She highlights the importance of allowing space for the dying to express their fears and desires, and the power of simply being present with them in love and acceptance. In a heartfelt closing, we reflect on the lessons learned from those who have transitioned and the importance of living fully in the present. Jane shares a beautiful passage from her late husband Arno's book, which encapsulates the essence of our conversation: that death is not an end, but a transition into a greater consciousness. This episode serves as a powerful reminder to embrace life and death with love and trust, encouraging listeners to engage in conscious living and dying. If this conversation resonates with you, I invite you to share it widely, as it addresses a crucial yet often overlooked aspect of the human experience. Things that make you go hmmm...

The Art of Living Podcast: Things That Make You Go, Hmm Welcome to another episode of the TAO Living podcast, The Art of Living. I'm your host, Lou Corleto, and today we're going to explore some intriguing concepts that will make you go, "Hmm." Have you ever noticed the health food section in a grocery store? It's interesting to think about what that implies about the rest of the store. If that section is labeled as "health food," what does it make everything else? It's a thought-provoking observation about our society and the way we categorize things. We live in a world where we drive on parkways and park on driveways. We have life insurance for death and health insurance for sickness. We even use natural lemon juice in our dish detergents while consuming artificial lemon juice in our drinks. These contradictions make you wonder about the choices we make and the labels we assign to things. I had the incredible opportunity to explore Antarctica a few years ago. Witnessing the majestic humpback whales migrating thousands of miles without deviating even one degree left me in awe. How do they navigate the open ocean with such precision? And the penguins in Antarctica, enduring extreme temperatures and winds, huddle together to protect their eggs and themselves. They instinctively migrate from the outside to the inside and vice versa, without any leader guiding them. It's fascinating to think about how these animals tap into their inner guidance and trust the process. In contrast, during the devastating tsunami of 2004, countless lives were lost despite our advanced warning systems. However, the wild animals sensed the impending danger and sought higher ground, saving themselves. How did they know? How do they tap into their instincts without directions, maps, or GPS? It's a question that makes you ponder the innate wisdom within us and why we often fail to access it. Science has shed some light on these mysteries. Harvard Medical School recently discovered that humans possess a protein in our eyes called cryptochrome, similar to the one found in animals. This protein is believed to play a role in our intuitive abilities. We've been told that we have five senses, but in reality, we have more. Our sixth sense, intuition, is a powerful tool that we often overlook. Furthermore, science has revealed that there are more brain frequencies than the commonly known beta, alpha, theta, and delta. Gamma and epsilon are states of higher consciousness that we can tap into. These states of awareness are available to all of us, yet we often fail to access them. So, how do we reconnect with our inner guidance and tap into our intuition? The answer lies in the art of living, a philosophy that combines contemporary science, spirituality, quantum physics, mysticism, and Eastern philosophy. Tao Living, as derived from 40 years of personal experience and backed up by scientific research, offers a way of life that can be implemented by anyone. When we are fully present in the moment, we open ourselves up to life's invitations. By letting go of the need to search and allowing our inner light to connect with the guiding light, we align ourselves with the flow of life. Tao Living brings us to the intersection of science and spirituality, providing practical tools to experience presence and transform our lives. Our thoughts shape our reality. When we align our breath, eyes, and mind, we align with life's invitations, and presence finds us. Awareness is curative, and through new experiences, our minds are stretched, preventing us from reverting to our old ways of being and seeing. I invite you to join us for this year's Tao Living Experience, The Art of Living, from May 16-19, 2024. This transformative retreat will take place on our beautiful sanctuary, nestled on 92 acres at the foothills of the Cherokee National Forest. Dr. Lou was interviewed on Veronika's Voice from Veronika Archer International. The topic: 5 Days to FULL Healing  Veronika and Dr. Lou dive into healing the mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual aspects of ourselves. Powerful! Enjoy this show 5 Days to FULL Healing [Veronika's Voice] If you listened to my Phoenix Burning mini-series, you know that the end of last year and beginning of this year were ROUGH for me. Several significant (and traumatic) events occurred in my family between September and December. By the end of December, I had developed acute physical symptoms including fatigue, pain, and peripheral neuropathy to the point I was only functional 3 to 4 hours a day. I had experienced and recovered from chronic illness in the past and I was determined to resolve this! You may know, I committed to 6 months focused on healing and recovery. I also prioritized working with a healing practitioner and, as synchronicities happen, the perfect practitioner crossed my path. I worked with this practitioner in an intense, one-on-one setting for 5 consecutive days at the end of January. And at the end of those 5 days, I was almost fully recovered!  In fact, a few weeks after returning, I started practicing martial arts 3 to 4 times a week even though I hadn't worked out for about 5 years prior. People have asked me how on earth that was possible? The answer – working with Dr. Lou Corleto. I am SO excited to share this episode of Veronika's Voice where Dr. Lou reveals his 3-part process that resulted in such amazing results for me. Dr. Lou Corleto is an internationally recognized speaker, teacher, retreat facilitator, and healer.  He has been studying the human “bodies,” consciousness, and healing principles for 30+ years. He personally has served tens of thousands of people on all seven continents and in over 50 countries. Dr. Lou is famous for the safe and sacred space he holds while delivering elite-level training on healing principles, psychology, physiology, neurology, and conscious living that is practical, spiritually sound, science-based, heart-centered, and astoundingly effective. You may guess that Dr. Lou is in high demand and requires a significant investment for private work (worth every penny!) Dr. Lou's healing process is founded in 3 Key Principles. For the first time, Dr. Lou has created an online program sharing one of his 3 principles to make this healing accessible to more people.   This process is incredibly effective for emotional, physical, or spiritual healing and is something I incorporate daily! Feeling Better vs Better Feeling

Watch Episode Here.   Everybody wants to feel better. And that's a beautiful thing, something you should continually aspire to, for sure.  However, let's get clear on how that works and the difference between “feeling better” and “better feeling”. We've grown up in a society where feeling better has been driven by some form of sedation. We don't like the way we feel so we suppress our feelings. However, if we don't feel our feelings, do we FEEL better? Better feeling means being present with what you're feeling. You're better able to feel. Because here's the thing - in the unpleasant feelings there's also a massive amount of life, growth, healing, and opportunity. In this episode we explore: How the goal of feeling better may lead to self-deception and denial of the underlying issues How sedation prevents healing How to increasing your emotional bandwidth Pain's primary function in helping us grow and heal The correct way to respond to emotions so we can release them Healthy ways of better feeling our experience And much more! “We can't heal what we can't feel.” So, how about you? What are you feeling? What are you numbing?  I encourage you to face all of your feelings because on the other side of them is a brighter, more aligned, joyful life. Up to you!

Today I'm going to focus on ways to ‘manage our environments' and what we associate with so we can maximize our full potential in life. When I got a grasp on how to manage my environment years ago, it became a game changer for me and my clients that I share with. So let's discuss! Because if you don't manage your environment, your environment manages you.  We can break it down into two components: the internal and the external environment. This episode is going to help you with your internal environment by looking at these key elements: Do you have a guard at the gate of what you allow into your consciousness, into your inner sanctum? What are you putting into your brain? What are you allowing into your heart? How do you manage your thoughts? How do you speak? What language are you using? What do you put in your temple (your body)? The more foods get processed, the less it is true food! What is the quality and quantity of your water intake? The world of difference between the biological breath and conscious breathing Likewise, you will gain insights on how to manage your external environment such has: The role of these “smart” phones and devices in our lives!       Today's episode comes to you LIVE from a beautiful small island in the Bahamas. And this environment is ideal because this episode is all about living life by your design. Last week I was facilitating an amazing group of ChiropracTORs from all over Europe in Barcelona, Spain. Afterward, I drove to the north at the border with France to go skydiving. Now I'm supporting my partner in her retreat diving with wild dolphins.  I'm reflecting on how I achieved this - how I designed my life and how I support others around the world to do the same. I grew up as one of nine kids. So if we went anywhere on a vacation, we didn't go far. Eleven people in the station wagon driving down the highway, somebody screaming, “we gotta go to the bathroom!” And since there's 11 people in the car, you don't stop every time someone has to go to the bathroom - you pass around an old peanut butter jar or something like that, so that we can get to the destination… Great times and amazing experiences, for sure. Yet, as I grew up, I started to see other people traveling, especially as a teenager, and it became a pattern in my mind, “That's for those people.”  I had some work to do to overcome that limiting belief about myself - so that I could live life by MY design! In this episode, we explore: Self-limiting beliefs that keep you playing small How to live life by YOUR design without compromise Lack and limitation in our subconscious mind The stories we tell ourselves that need to be checked How to make the paradigm shift from surviving to thriving And much more. Plus hear about an opportunity to join me and a small group of sincere souls, so that you can engage in living YOUR life by YOUR design. A few years back, I was in Brazil completing one of our humanitarian mission trips. It was an intense week, so I went to walk on the beach to just decompress and be in nature, by the ocean.  It was early morning before many people were on the beach, and all of the sudden these huge birds came and landed close by, and I was just watching the birds do their thing.  A local went by and I asked him, "What's the name of that bird, in Portuguese?”  So he said, “Urubu.” "Wow, that's beautiful. How do you spell that?" And he said, “U-R-U-B-U.”  I didn't have a pen and paper, but in my mind I was writing it down. And as I did that for the second time, it landed…  U-R-U-B-U. You Are You, Be You.  So that's the essence of this podcast today! You are you, be you.  Now here's the thing: how many of us are actually doing that?  As for me unfortunately I wasn't doing this, yet I thought it was.  And I can safely say for the 10s of 1000s of people I've worked with - many people around the planet - they believe they are being their true selves, and yet they are not as they (like I was) are living (actually existing) from old programs and limiting beliefs. Let's unpack that. In this episode we explore: The Chinese proverb: “Tension is who you think you should be, relaxation is who you are.” Letting go of all the facades we put up How comparisons constrict our worldview Why people do not see us for who we really are “When you're born to stand out, you can't fit in.” Playing small and hiding aspects of ourselves in order to not upset others Ego vs inflated ego vs deflated ego Society's role in defining who you are supposed to be Congruency in your life The urubu bird is actually a vulture. It's not the prettiest bird, and it's not looking to be anything else than what it is. We can learn from the urubu - and the Portuguese spelling of “urubu”. U-R-U-B-U. You are you, be you! So who you be? ~ ~ ~ If you're ready to answer that question - and don't know what to do next - or do and desire to expedite that process massively… I invite you to join me August 25-27 for a three-day event, called Life By Design. A little over a week ago, we finished one of our high end events, The Art of Living Experience.  And as we were walking with the group through the woods, we were looking at some of the 90-100 foot trees. There were a couple trees that were dying - these huge strong trees. What was killing them were vines. Compared to the size of the tree, the vines were pretty small… But it was insidious. Over time, the vines were sucking the life out of the tree. It was astonishing to see. When we first bought the property, I was walking with a forester and we came across some of these vines. He proceeded to tell me exactly how to manage them, so that the trees didn't die.  There is a specific height at which to cut the vine, or else the plant actually grows new tendrils and reroots itself back into the ground and continues it's parasitic action. I learned the process and engage in the feat of getting all the dead vines down as well… What is there to learn from this dynamic in nature - where smaller vines can kill a huge tree? What do you have in your life that is sucking your life energy? How can you engage in resolving the root cause AND complete the clean up process? All of us have experiences - people, places, traumas, etc. that if unresolved, they can rob our life force from us. At some unconscious level, we are feeding these “vines” our life force and it robs us from truly thriving. Today I'm coming to you from our retreat property. I'm doing some decompression post-retreat, debriefing The Art of Living event, and enjoying some mate tea in the process.  I wanted to share with you a section that we did a deep dive in, during the retreat. It's related to how you show up in the world, and how you can make life easier for you. Are you the thermometer or the thermostat in your life? A thermometer measures temperature. If it's warm, it goes up and if it's cold it goes down, right? So it is a measuring device. Its measurement comes from the stimuli of the environment. So just like you and I, we are constantly being stimulated because of our interaction with our environment. Your environment is everything in your life. The people around you, everything, job, family, nature, cityscapes - wherever you're at. If things are working for you, meaning your perception that you like it, then you allow yourself happiness, joy, and those positive emotions.  If things aren't working for you, because of the stimuli of the environment, then you experience frustration, anger, fear, and sadness. Right? So up, down, up, down.  “Hey, my friends like me - yay, I feel happy… Oh, they don't - I feel sad.” “Oh, my boss is happy with my performance - I am happy… Oh, she's not - oh, I'm sad.” That is being a thermometer. It's an exhausting journey. And I spent many, many decades on that roller coaster because I didn't know any better. Yet, now I do. There's another option. The thermostat experience. The thermostat sets the temperature of your house. Similarly, when YOU learn to set the temperature, or tone, for your life - when you learn to become a thermostat, not a thermometer - you can experience joy, peace, and balance no matter what happens in your external environment.  And life happens… death, divorce, financial devastation, etc. etc. Remember, life is happening FOR you not TO you. There are powerful things you can do that set the tone for your life and I discuss them in this episode!  We discuss the The Four Agreements, by Don Miguel Ruiz as well as the 3 pillars of my personal and professional life: Conscious Breathing, Conscious, Languaging, and upleveling your nervous system. Before we dive into today's topic, I'm going to start with a warning. If you're not willing to take responsibility for your life, your health or your well being, don't listen to this episode. I'm going to unpack some stuff that requires you to do just that. So if you are still living in victim consciousness, where your life is not your responsibility, this episode is not for you. So that being said, I'm gonna unpack a concept that has been moving through me for years yet it's refined differently now… I'm standing for you - each of us - to learn to speak your original language.  By “original language” I don't mean your birth tongue, I mean understand how to listen to the messages your innate self is using to get your conscious attention to take appropriate action for healing resolution. Not to shoot the messenger as you have been taught.  What does the body say to you? Can you hear it? Do you understand it? Can you translate the messages it is giving you to create healing resolution? What about the emotions, and the mind, and soul? Can you decipher the language your vehicle is speaking to you? Learn this language! There are multiple forces in our society trying to keep us from listening to our intuition and the messages coming from within. Our job is to reclaim our responsibility for our life. 100%. In this episode I draw from several examples of how we lose our “original language” AND how you can relearn. Listen in to get the motivation and pep talk you need to wake up and get to know yourself in a thorough intimate way. Become fluent! In support of this pursuit, I have a bunch of free resources, but there's one that's on the website right now. It's called Operator's Manual for Your Vehicle. It's been there for a while, and I don't know how much longer it's going to be there. So go grab it while you can. It's just four short videos, to help you speak your “native” language, the one between you and you.The other is a free copy of my book Healing vs Curing. Also, if you hear this in time, in just three weeks, we have a 4-day deep-dive retreat called The Art of Living Retreat. May 18-21, 2023. Check it out: there are only a couple of spaces left. In celestial mechanics, “escape velocity” is the minimum speed required for a free non-propelled body to escape the influence of a primary body's gravitational pull - to be able to generate infinite distance from it. Think of a rocket taking off. If it doesn't have enough escape velocity when it takes off from the earth, the rocket will end up not making it through the stratosphere. It will return to Earth because it didn't have enough momentum…  What about you? Are you experiencing the momentum needed to break free from unwanted influences, habits, and mindsets so that you can be fully expressed + thriving? Take a moment to take inventory. You deserve that next level of freedom - your next breakthrough! And there's one way we can totally help you with that. Skydiving as a Metaphor for Healing

Today, I'm going to share a metaphor for healing with you: Skydiving. You may or may not know about my passionate obsession for this beautiful sport called skydiving, or how I'm an instructor and facilitator of skydives. Most people are introduced to skydiving through what's called “the tandem.” They show up to the drop zone, the place where you skydive, and they watch a safety video.  Then they're introduced to their instructor who gives them a couple tips, pointers on what they need to do with their body when they get out of the plane.  Pretty straightforward, pretty quick process, they get on the plane with their instructor, and the plane goes to altitude. On the way up, everybody has a unique experience… Some get really nervous. Some are really calm. Everybody goes through their own idiosyncrasies. But when the door opens, no matter who you are - for your first jump - that's when everything changes.  Because when that door opens and everything inside you goes, “What the heck do you think you're doing?!” No matter how cool you were or how excited you were - the door is what we call “the equalizer.” As the tandem client, there's nobody in front of you. Your instructor is strapped to your back.  So when you're looking at the door, your mind is like, “Oh my God, I'm all alone,” -- even though this person is behind you, and you can't move without them. You're not alone. Your instructor, who's done this 1000s of times, is intimately attached to you right through the harness, through clips, and all kinds of stuff.  They know what's going on. They know what's going to happen next. They know what to do if there's an emergency. They're there for you for your safety period to get you back to the ground safe and sound.  This is how true healing is meant to be experienced. With a highly trained competent guide who's been where you are going. In this episode we break down one of the major barriers to true healing, so you can get the support you need and truly live life full out! Bottom line: You would definitely benefit from support on the journey. We ALL do. I know I do! Don't forget the support is there!

This episode was inspired by a friend's recent post. Yesterday he tagged me in his post on social media, and it brought up so much for me that I'm going to unpack this idea right now. So, a couple years ago, I was blessed to fulfill one of my dreams, which was to go to Egypt and experience the last standing ancient wonders of the world - The Great Pyramids.  And I did! Not only did I see them, I also was able to go into them, into the inner chambers… I went to the Sphinx on camelback. I went down the Nile River in a boat.  And even on top of that, I was part of history in the making by being a part of the first group of skydivers granted permission to jump out of a military aircraft at 13,500 feet and skydive and land right next to the pyramids, before we went inside. Just mind boggling and incredible.  And while I was there, I went scuba diving in the Red Sea. An epic adventure. So when I returned from that trip, I happened to visit my friend. He saw that I went and told me that a trip to Egypt was on his list, that “one day” he was going to go. I was encouraging him, “Hey, man, don't make it ‘one day'. Make it happen.”  Meaning put energy into it. Don't do it like I have done too many times in the past and the way too many people do now - which is telling ourselves the “someday lie” and the “one day lie”. “Someday.” “One day.” I'll… Open up a calendar and show me where “someday” exists! It doesn't. Today's episode will be an introduction to Conscious Languaging. What is it and what value Conscious Languaging can bring into your life. In James Allen's classic book, As A Man Thinketh, he starts the book off with this beautiful piece: “Mind is the Master power that molds and makes, And Man is Mind, and evermore he takes The tool of Thought, and, shaping what he wills, Brings forth a thousand joys, a thousand ills:— He thinks in secret, and it comes to pass: Environment is but his looking-glass.” I love this passage so much for so many reasons.  Oftentimes when I'm working with people - clients, students - a common question comes up: How do I know what my dominant thoughts are?  Hence the last sentence in his prose there, “Environment is but his looking-glass.” meaning, look at your life. Look at your life, not just out there, but inside, too. Like it or not, everything that is in YOUR field, YOU have brought to you. So how is Conscious Languaging related to the mind and self-mastery? Listen to this episode to find out! We discuss: How to become more conscious of the activities of the mind How you can alter your impact on reality and touch more lives Neuroscience and the subconscious mind What social sciences & psychology have discovered about how to train the mind in a positive direction How to transform from survival consciousness to “thrival” consciousness And much more Conscious languaging is a key pillar on the path to self mastery. Mesmerized Compliance with Authority

Play Episode Listen Later Feb 12, 2023 20:31

This episode was inspired by reading Influence, The Psychology of Persuasion by Professor Robert Cialdini, who says certain triggers can influence human decisions almost automatically.  Trusting in authority is beneficial on many fronts. Too much blind trust, however, and we get a dictatorship. Not enough we end up with anarchy. Today, I'm referring to mindless obedience to authority. Automatic obedience to authority often occurs via chains of command - military, religion, academia, medicine… No one thinks to question it! Or at least it's not accepted or permissible to do so. For example in 1986, to protest shipments of arms by USA military to Nicaragua, three men laid down on railroad tracks. They informed the military of their intent three days prior… On the day of the shipment, the civilian train engineers were instructed by the military NOT to stop and ended up running a man over and severed both legs. The Institute of Medicine, which reports to the USA Congress, stated that hospital deaths from medical errors exceed all accidents… In the book, Medication Errors: Causes and Prevention, Temple University professors of pharmacy attribute mindless deference to their bosses as a major contributor. A physician wrote out a prescription for ear drops for an ear infection in the right ear. The ear drops were given in the anus, by the nurse. She blindly followed what she read on the bottle. She did not think critically about the fact that the doctor wrote “R ear”, which meant right ear, not REAR… This topic began to be important to me in the last few years. I could not for the life of me understand why so many intelligent people just blindly went along with the narratives - locking themselves inside, not going to church or temples, injecting untested and unproven experimental vaccines in their bodies and more. One of the most famous studies of obedience in psychology was carried out by Stanley Milgram, a psychologist at Yale University. He conducted an experiment focusing on the conflict between obedience to authority and personal conscience. The procedure was that the participant was paired with another person and they drew lots to find out who would be the ‘learner' and who would be the ‘teacher.' The draw was fixed so that the participant was always the teacher, and the learner was one of Milgram's confederates (pretending to be a real participant). The learner was taken into a room and had electrodes attached to his arms, and the teacher and researcher went into a room next door that contained an electric shock generator and a row of switches marked from “15 volts (Slight Shock)” to “375 volts (Danger: Severe Shock)” to “450 volts (XXX)”. Ordinary people are likely to follow orders given by an authority figure, even to the extent of killing an innocent human being. Obedience to authority is ingrained in us all from the way we are brought up. People tend to obey orders from other people if they recognize their authority as morally right and/or legally based. This response to legitimate authority is learned in a variety of situations, for example in the family, school, and workplace. It's important to understand how obedience and compliance works, what healthy dissent is, and to look critically at each situation we're in. Make sure you're following authority that aligns with your own inner compass!  ~ ~ ~ If you're looking for a way to get empowered today... Can I really heal from PTSD? with JP deLange

My guest for today was a career Army officer, a devoted husband and father, who spent 45 years serving his country and the elite units like the Army Special Operations Command at Fort Bragg, the 25th injury division in Hawaii, with more than two dozen deployments to places like Iraq, Afghanistan, Kuwait, Kosovo, the Philippines and Haiti. He witnessed the effects of extreme human suffering around the world, firsthand. And 2018 When John Paul, or JP deLange, was diagnosed with the worst kind of PTSD. He was in denial, “How could this happen to me?”, he wondered. But simultaneously, JP saw it as a gift and thoughts of PTSD never entered his mind.  Now, as a Certified High Performance Coach, and a Radical Forgiveness Coach, he's deeply committed to excellence in helping people dig deeper into achieving consistently higher levels of fulfillment, success, and life satisfaction. He studied the neuroscience of PTSD. He has researched psychology, physiology, and spirituality, to understand what happens in the mind and body when we experience a traumatic event.  In this episode, we unpack how Radical Forgiveness can be an important step in healing from PTSD.  We explore: The #1 reason traumatic stress is in the shadows in western culture and how that shapes our personal narrative How Radical Forgiveness can speed up your healing process 5 health benefits of doing Radical Forgiveness work The #1 way we can bring PTSD into the light and promote healing on a larger scale And much more JP shared the social impacts, public policy, and stigmas surrounding PTSD. What he discovered was stunning… 220 Veterans will commit suicide in the United States over the next ten days About 8,000 will take their life before the end of this year It's not just the service member that suffers. Families feel the pain from its effects too The divorce rate among members of the military is higher than any profession (60%) 11-20% of service members who served in Iraq or Afghanistan have PTSD 55% of women 38% of men have experienced sexual harassment in the military Trauma that is witnessed can be just as damaging as trauma that is experienced It was an honor and pleasure to speak with JP and I'm sure you will benefit from this conversation! 2 Critical Questions to Set Yourself Free

Have you heard the adage, “If you tell a lie often enough, it becomes a truth”? That was expressed by Joseph Goebbels, the architect behind Nazi regime propaganda… Is that still playing out in today's world? Is this affecting you personally? I say, yes it is. In 1971, President Nixon created the “War on Drugs”. It was actually a war on psychedelics. Because, at that time, there was high level research on the profound mental and physical benefits of psychedelics. There is no toxicity and no lethal doses… Yet there was a war declared. I remember as a child seeing commercials about frying your brain - and it scared me! I eventually did partake and experienced the opening of consciousness which the powers that be did not want us to experience… Researchers realized that psychedelics were helping people crack out of limiting paradigms and see themselves and the world differently, which caused healing. Why a war on that? Well, in the 1960s, there were too many conscientious objectors to the war in Vietnam, and they were starting to protest a lot of things… Here are 2 Critical Questions… Am I capable?  Am I willing? I can answer the first question for you - the answer is yes. You have life force, you have breath, and therefore you are capable. The 2nd question - only you can answer this. Am I willing to achieve this and let nothing stop me? That's on you. Many people will say, ”Yes, I am willing”, but why are they not achieving the thing - the health, new business, relationships, etc? That's simple. It's because there is a disconnect - some limiting beliefs, trauma, or interference in the subconscious mind. These disconnects are critical to unpack or you cannot get where you want to in life. Back to the phrase, “When you tell a lie, it often becomes a truth…” The biggest lie is about your capacity to heal yourself. Your ability to heal your body, mind, and soul is far greater than anybody has given you permission to. And the powers that be drive that lie in the wrong direction. They say you're a weak broken machine! When that's not the case at all. Be mindful of what you allow into your subconscious. Don't just follow what is being laid upon you. And for a limited time, please check out the FREE Operator's Manual for Your Vehicle Training, so you can start to heal on all levels, take charge of your destiny, reach your goals, and THRIVE. Our wounds often come from genetically inherited traumas — multi-generational assaults — that store unresolved pain and result in repeated experiences which obscure the subtle, permanently available experience of our True Nature, Love. Blocks to the awareness of our Selves as Love are NEVER imposed from the outside, it is always an inside job. Work to be done... Inside and Out! Perception autobiographical George Washington Carver, in refusing to give up the experience of himSelf as Love, offered, "I will never allow a man to so defile my soul so as to cause me to hate him." Carl Jung, describing the avoidable cause of repeated painful experiences, informed us that... “Whatever is rejected from the self, appears in the world (perception) as an event. We meet ourselves time and again in a thousand disguises on the path of life.” He then describes the way out... "Until the unconscious becomes conscious it will direct our lives and we will call it fate." How do we make the unconscious conscious? The tools for reliably opening what, in the ancient teachings was called the, "Veil of the 'temple,'" — the barrier between the sub-conscious and the unconscious mind — and removal of assault energy — appeared 2,000 years ago in the Aramaic language! Properly called Forgiveness, the technology was almost instantly changed from an internal process to an outer-directed act. Forgive, let "them off the hook" we have been told! With that directive, Forgiveness was LOST to humanity. You cannot change an internally generated dynamic through an outer directed act! Engaging in the lost art of Forgiveness creates a visceral opening that facilitates the flow of Light and Love into every instant of our lives! Pain or turmoil is always an opportunity to put an end to denial, to learn and apply Forgiveness! Here is a free download link to my book... "Why Is This Happening TO ME... Again?!" (in 9 languages) which explains how... www.whyagain.org/book Dr. Michael Ryce is the founder and director of HeartLand, a self-healing center in the Ozark mountains. The focus of his studies has combined body-mind principles, physics, and ancient Aramaic studies into a unique body of pioneering work in the fields of self-healing, healing through relationships, anger and grief resolution, world peace, and the inner process of Forgiveness. His unique synthesis of information and tools is acclaimed, as “a powerful blend of spiritual principles and intellectual clarity, guided by the heart!” His workshops explain, with profound simplicity, how the mind/body/emotion interaction affects health, and every event in life, and impacts our relationships. In each self-contained workshop, effective tools are presented to assist in creating high-level wellness and eliminating upset, lack and conflict. His book, Why Is This Happening To Me . . . Again?!, is an international best seller. Jeanie Ryce is a knowledgeable practitioner in the fields of Creative Spiritual Direction, Self-healing, Healing Through Relationships, anger and grief resolution, stress management, identifying purpose and, especially, the Inner Process of Forgiveness. Jeanie, with her uncanny intuitive ability, knows how to, “touch people where it hurts,” and then, with expert guidance, support the healing of issues hidden, perhaps for lifetimes. An incredibly creative educator and guide, with a Bachelors of Psychology and 30 years of teaching experience, Jeanie has the ability to presence Love and thereby facilitate the rare occurrence of internal healing. Denial, thinking, or speaking as though something outside of oneSelf is the cause of what is moving on the inside blocks awareness of one's own internal dynamics and creates the unnatural condition of an unconscious mind! To those locked into unconsciousness — psychologists tell us that 90, 95, perhaps 98% of the average person's mental processes are unconscious — Carl Jung uncovered why people hide from themSelves, and what is hiding within — "What if I should discover that the poorest of the beggars and the most impudent of offenders are all WITHIN me; and that I stand in need of the alms of my own kindness, that I, myself, am the enemy who must be loved -- what then?" Perception — the world we think we see with our eyes — is a hologram generated out of past content — a projection of the mind! We "see" nothing with our eyes... We "see" with our brains! There is no life in the holograms produced by the mind! We have been suckered!  Anil Seth, professor of Cognitive and Computational Neuroscience at the University of Sussex, England, explains that perception is a mental construct, generated by the mind/body/nervous system... “The whole world we (think) we see is a hallucination,” he says, "unique to each person! "When we agree on our shared hallucinations, we call it ‘reality...'"  CIA research on human intelligence verified this shocking, but true, conclusion: “Perception is demonstrably an active rather than a passive process; it constructs rather than records ‘reality'! Perception is a process of inference in which people construct their own version of reality on the basis of information provided through the five senses.” YOUR MIND, BASED ON ITS CONTENT, LITERALLY CONSTRUCTS THE WORLD YOU SEE! (Download the whole CIA report) Click or tap to follow the Link: https://whyagain.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/CIA_Study_of_Intelligence.pdf Reality, the output of the mind is either a high-quality, accurate picture or a poor-quality, deceptive projection. The experience of the Presence of Love in one's physiology indicates the mind is on track, any form of fear and/or hostility is an indicator that the mind is using corrupt data to build its constructs. When using corrupt data the mind massages its unconscious content into pictures of "external" things at which point one is born into the outrageously damning, damaging and all pervasive One World, Religion of blame! When I tell you that you are the cause of what is happening inside of me, I have become the equivalent of a full fledged, card carrying member of that church!  ALL perception, including sensations in the "body" are autobiographical! Projection is not the act of pretending something inside of me is outside of me, it is the act of building realities out of internal content and pretending that hologram is actually out there!  Actuality is what is... Reality is nothing more than a construct of the mind that gives meaning to that actuality.” ~ dr michael ryce Here is an example of what can be done with actual Forgiveness... an awesome piece of ancestral work that a woman did in our Codependence to Interdependence /Communication Practicum recently.
