We're hanging out with the Ghost Brothers one more time, and this week the dice have sent us to the historic Fitzpatrick Hotel in Washington, Georgia.Built in the late 1800s, the Fitzpatrick comes with exactly the sort of history we like around here: old rooms, strange happenings, a cemetery underneath the building because apparently moving the headstones was good enough, and at least one extremely messy story involving a man, his wife, his mistress, and a New Year's Eve ball.Which, as Megan helpfully points out, was held in the ballroom.Where balls typically are held.The Ghost Brothers check into the hotel for the night and investigate reports of mysterious footsteps, lights turning themselves on, a little girl roaming the halls, and spirits who may still be hanging around more than a century later. Meanwhile, we discuss creepy paintings, Bloody Mary, suspicious EVPs, very tight pants, and the important paranormal-investigation rule: don't do that when you're drunk.There's also a moment when everyone blames producer Steve for something decidedly ghosty, prompting a well-deserved “Damn it, Steve.” Except...it might not actually have been Steve.And after all the investigating, evidence reviewing, and attempts to figure out exactly who is haunting the Fitzpatrick, Amy delivers perhaps the perfect summary of paranormal television:“That was a lot of not really.”We love the Ghost Brothers, though. A slice of kiwi history has been dug out of the Footrot Flats archive ready for a new home. 50 years after Murray Ball created the iconic cartoon, an original artwork he did for Water Safety NZ in the 80s is being sold to raise funds for the organisation. Murray Ball's son, Mason Ball spoke to Melissa Chan-Green.

Before Christo and Jeanne-Claude became world famous for transforming landmarks and landscapes, they staged one of their strangest early projects in Minneapolis. In 1966, the artists and a group of students built an enormous translucent package stuffed with thousands of colorful balloons — then tried to fly it by helicopter from the Minneapolis Institute of Art to the Walker Art Center. "There is nothing theorizable or interesting about death," Tom Krell says 30 minutes into his appearance on my podcast about death. He's speaking precisely. By "death," he means what he's learned of it from watching those close to him die. The annihilation of self. The finality of it. What he's not doing is dismissing the topic. Tom earned his PhD in philosophy, metaphysics specifically, so it makes sense he's intentional and unsparing with his words. But he also makes this beautiful music.Under the name How to Dress Well, his art-damaged R&B soundtracked my bike rides the summer before my coma in 2014. Since then, his music has grown deeper and more promiscuous. He incorporates metal, noise, and field recordings on tracks with lyrics about the hegemony of realism and intergenerational trauma. But it's all wrapped around a spine of primal, haunting melody. In our conversation, Tom tells me how important it is for him to use direct language to discuss philosophical ideas. And that is what he's doing with his music. He piles layers of sound and meaning onto melodies to bury the ideas and feelings deep. Zane Williams is a Texas singer-songwriter and the frontman of The Wilder Blue. He spent years as a college coffeehouse performer and a staff songwriter in Nashville, where he wrote "Hurry Home," a top 20 hit for Jason Michael Carroll, before moving back to Texas and building a grassroots following as a solo artist. He formed The Wilder Blue in 2019, and when the band's debut landed in the middle of the 2020 shutdown, a tweet from Luke Combs changed everything.
