Fear can feel overpowering—especially when circumstances press in, when we live in places that feel unsafe, or when anxiety has had time to settle in. But, as we reflect in our daily prayer and devotional, Scripture doesn’t leave us defenseless. In this devotional, Vivian Bricker reminds us that God is with us even when fear seems to surround us. Though we often don’t see His hand at work, God is always moving behind the scenes—striking down evil, guarding us, and providing strength. Even when fear grips our hearts, we can choose to turn to Him, surrender our anxieties at His feet, and let His peace guard our minds (Philippians 4:6–7). Moses’ charge to Israel in Deuteronomy 31:6 still rings for us today: “Be strong and courageous… for the Lord your God goes with you.” We don’t face life’s dangers alone. He never leaves us. With this promise, our fear can be met with courage rooted not in our own power, but in the faithful presence of God. Today's Bible Reading: “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”— Deuteronomy 31:6 Key Takeaways God is always present—even in the darkest moments—and never abandons us. Fear doesn’t need to control us; we can bring it to God in prayer. True courage comes from trusting that God is greater than our threats. The promise in Scripture is not that trouble won’t come, but that we won’t face it alone. Let’s Pray Together Dear God, fear surrounds me and uncertainty abounds. Thank You that You are here with me. Please strengthen my heart to be strong and courageous. Remind me that You will never leave me or forsake me. Help me surrender my fear to You and cling to Your steadfast love and protection. In Jesus’ name, Amen. Related Articles When God Seems Silent—How to Pray When Fear Seizes You – Crosswalk.com Why Do I Still Feel Fear? A hardened heart isn't just found in those living in sin—even those closest to Jesus sometimes struggled with it. When His disciples saw Him walking on water, they were amazed because their hearts were hardened (Mark 6:45–52). Learn how distractions, worry, and misplaced priorities can dull your spiritual sensitivity—and how meditating on God's Word and walking in faith can awaken your heart to His miraculous power.
When hate is loud, love cannot afford to whisper. When forces of oppression are on the move, lovers of freedom must respond. When those who seek to replace democracy with theocracy are gaining ground, those who are sworn to preserve and protect democracy must stand our ground. Jesus, of course, was neither oppressor nor hater nor promoter of theocracy. There are those who claim to speak for him at times, however, who are all of those things. One of the primary forces behind Project 2025 is a political movement called Christian Nationalism. Christian Nationalism speaks not of the teachings of Jesus - feeding the hungry, helping the poor, healing the sick, and kindness to the stranger. Their vision is not about love, but power - specifically a version of power that transgresses basic American Constitutional principles (subjugation of women, primacy of Christianity over other religions, and more). Progressive Christians are rising up in response, bringing to the theological as well as political sphere a voice that is much needed at this time. Theirs is a Jesus of the Gospels, recognizing that loving one another is indeed the salvation of the world. My guest in this interview is Brian Recker, author of HELL BENT: How the Fear of Hell Holds Christians Back from a Spirituality of Love. Recker, a former Evangelical pastor, is an influential figure in the Christian Deconstructionist Movement. He explains a journey taken by millions of Christians in America today. who feel strongly that a Jesus of love, not retribution, should guide our hearts. Fresh off a wild two days at Revive Fest (complete with rainy weather, bubble machines, and listeners bearing gifts of zebra cakes), Marc & Fuller take a different approach in this episode by answering personal questions their community has been asking. What starts as lighthearted banter about coffee preferences and boxing matches quickly transitions into deeper territory as they tackle one of the most vulnerable questions they've received: what almost made them leave Christianity? The conversation gets particularly raw as they discuss the struggle of watching genuinely moral people from other faiths and wondering about their eternal destiny. Between missing turns in the dark Michigan countryside, getting pulled over (for a license plate light, not drunk driving!), and dealing with shot voices from two days of ministry, Marc & Fuller manage to have one of their most honest conversations yet about doubt, other religions, and what keeps them anchored in their faith when everything else feels uncertain. // Helpful Links // https://www.youtube.com/@realtalkchristianpodcast The Christian Standard Bible: https://csbible.com Lifeway Christian Resources: www.lifeway.com Got Questions?: www.gotquestions.org Dwell Bible App: https://dwellapp.io Cross Formed Kids from Ryan Coatney: https://www.crossformedkids.com RTC Quick Links: https://linktr.ee/realtalkchristianpodcast RTC Online: www.realtalkchristianpodcast.com Twin Valley Coffee: https://www.coffeehelpingmissions.com Revive festival : Music Festival | En Gedi Music Fest | Leonidas, MI (myrevivefest.com) Toccoa Coffee:https://toccoacoffee.com RTC Merch-https://rtcpodcast.redbubble.com Let Them Live: https://letthemlive.org

Not every message, voice, or feeling we experience is from God. In our daily prayer and devotional, the apostle John warns believers to test the spirits because our emotions, cultural influences, or even spiritual opposition can lead us astray. God’s Spirit always aligns with His Word, glorifies Jesus, and produces peace and holiness in our hearts. When you face decisions or conflicting messages, take time to pray for discernment and measure everything against Scripture. If what you sense points you closer to Christ and aligns with biblical truth, you can move forward with confidence. If it distracts or divides, wait on God’s timing and continue seeking His direction. Discernment takes practice. The more time you spend in God’s Word and in prayer, the more clearly you’ll recognize His voice amid the noise of the world. God has promised to guide you faithfully—trust Him to do it in His way and His time. Today's Bible Reading: “Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God… This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God…”— 1 John 4:1–3 (NIV) Key Takeaways Test every spirit. God’s truth never contradicts His Word. Keep Jesus central. The Holy Spirit’s leading always exalts Christ. Check the fruit. True guidance produces love, joy, peace, patience, and self-control. Wait on God’s timing. Rushing ahead often leads to confusion. Seek wise counsel. Godly community helps confirm God’s direction. Let’s Pray Dear God,Thank You for reminding me that not every spirit or voice I hear is from You. Forgive me for the times I’ve trusted my emotions or rushed ahead without seeking Your wisdom. Teach me to test the spirits and recognize what is truly from You. Guide me through Your Word and Your Spirit, and help me make choices that glorify Jesus. Guard my heart and mind from confusion, and let Your peace lead me.In Jesus’ name, Amen. Related Articles Looking for more on discernment and hearing God’s voice? In this bonus episode of LIVE FREE, Pastors Josh Howerton, Russell Johnson, Ryan Visconti, and Josh McPherson explore the biblical relationship between Christianity and patriotism. Is loving one's country Christian nationalism or idolatry? They unpack how believers are not only allowed but called to actively engage in politics and culture. Now is the time to advocate for righteousness, turn back to God, and walk in bold obedience. Drawing on biblical examples and historical context, they challenge the idea that Christians should withdraw from political involvement and instead encourage faithful engagement to influence society for good.

In this episode we interview Reverend Darren who is a minister in the Presbyterian Church USA in Wisconsin. This conversation started as a text and google doc exchange around the story of Amalek within the Old Testament of the Christian Bible and the Tanakh, or the Hebrew Bible. We talk about how we should understand the relationship between these biblical stories and documented history, their relationship to the Gaza genocide, and how we might fit our analyses of these narratives into the relationship between US imperialism and zionism. Along the way, Darren engages with questions of faith practice, the relative absence - and silence - of particularly Euro-American liberal Christian congregations among those standing in defense of Palestinian lives, and Palestinian sovereignty. Darren also discusses how the gears of US fascism - called for in documents like Project 2025 and Project Esther, and being enacted through the Trump administration - are being lubricated by the absurd and ethically vacuous nature of US liberalism. A couple things to mention, this conversation was recorded 10 days ago, so the 8th year anniversary episode we mentioned is currently out on our YouTube channel. In addition to reflections from Josh and myself, it featured special appearances from Stefano Harney, Renee Johnston, Fred Moten, Sina Rahmani, and Lara Sheehi This episode was also recorded before the 2nd anniversary of Tufan Al Aqsa and before the ceasefire agreement. We have episodes on the YouTube channel about those developments as well, one putting Abdaljawad Omar and Lara Sheehi in conversation together and the other with Nora Barrows-Friedman from Electronic Intifada and Sina Rahmani from the East is a Podcast. God's love isn't just any love - it's unmerited. God's love for us is based on His character, not our actions. This unconditional love removes fear and doubt, which are the main obstacles to our faith. In episode six of "Unshakeable Faith," Duane Sheriff teaches that God's unconditional love is not just intellectual or like any other type of love. It is a transformative revelation that reaches deep into our hearts and dispels all fear. When we genuinely understand the depth of God's love, our faith becomes unshakeable.https://pastorduane.com/unshakeable-faith/

From election results that don't match voter sentiment to fears of the dark that reveal our primal survival instincts, this episode dives into the forces shaping modern America. We unpack alleged census manipulation that could have stolen up to 25 congressional seats, explore the upcoming Supreme Court race-based redistricting case, and reveal how distorted districts affect budgets, taxation, and representation. Then, we pivot to human nature, examining why men report greater fear of the dark, the evolutionary roots of this instinct, and archaeological evidence showing the dangers our ancestors faced. Finally, we highlight emerging threats to personal freedom, including digital IDs, facial recognition, and the erosion of anonymity in America and abroad.
A fast-paced episode that stitches together three urgent stories shaking the nation: local officials in Los Angeles declaring a state of emergency amid sweeping ICE enforcement; a devastating, fiery multi-vehicle crash on I-85 that killed eight people (including children); and the fallout from a major hostage release and large prisoner swap in the Israel-Gaza conflict. The hosts parse what “emergency” means when law enforcement, public safety, and political priorities collide — and why ordinary people feel the consequences first. “The system isn't broken — it's rigged. And the illusion of democracy hides the theft beneath.” Republicans won a quiet landslide, yet Congress barely reflects it. Why? This episode uncovers how the 2020 Census, secret formulas, and race-based redistricting have warped political reality — costing the GOP as many as 25 seats. Harvard's own analysis exposes how statistical manipulation favored Democrat-led states, while the Supreme Court now weighs whether race-based districting still belongs in modern America. From the census controversy to redistricting battles, digital ID creep, judicial corruption in South Carolina, and cartel-linked terror in Chicago — this episode ties together a pattern of power consolidation, systemic deception, and vanishing accountability. Featuring former Senator Lee Bright, who details his fight against judicial favoritism and legislative corruption in South Carolina, this episode reveals what's really undermining voter power — and what must change to restore it.
What happens when life takes an unexpected turn and faith becomes your anchor? In this heartfelt episode, I sit down with Jennifer Rothschild—best-selling author, speaker, podcast host, and Bible teacher—who lost her sight at age 15. Jennifer shares incredible wisdom born out of real life struggles that will encourage you, strengthen your faith, and give you insight to deal with your own challenges in life. Jennifer shares how her parents’ steadfast faith and practical love helped her trade bitterness for hope and how parents can model handling hardship for our kids. We explore the value of “seeing” life through God’s promises, like Philippians 4:13 and 2 Corinthians 4:16–18 and the necessity of constantly “accepting then adjusting” to life change. Jennifer is vulnerable, honest, and wise. This isn’t a glib “praise God” bumper sticker conversation, but one where Jennifer reminds us that “earth is short and heaven is long,” and our present struggles prepare us for an eternal glory beyond imagination. You will love this conversation and walk away inspired! And remember, I'd love to connect more on Instagram, where you'll find me at @donnaajones. What does masculinity have to do with climate change denial? F-ing everything! Daniel Penny, host of the new Drilled podcast Carbon Bros, joins me to answer all of your questions about how the Manosphere and its ideologies of dominion, virility, control, and anti-wokeness collide with climate change narratives. We talk about petro-masculinity, of course, but also how environmentalism became “feminized,” the intersection with “muscular” Christianity, the Spotted Owl, fear of the electric truck, and how the Trump Administration has successfully exploited fears of a cucked, climate-focused nation. This one will piss you off and give you a lot to think about.
