This week on TOWTW Podcast, Chelsea introduces you to Julie—not as a team member or service provider, but as the kind of human who shows up in her pajamas at 4AM when you're collapsing. Julie is a clarity partner who creates the kind of space most people have never experienced, where your floodgates can finally open. She doesn't coach (Chelsea hates that word—it implies fixing). Instead, Julie witnesses, translates your nervous system's reactions into language you can understand, and helps you see what you're actually feeling underneath what you think you're feeling. Chelsea shares Julie's powerful piece "Last Hour of the Year"—a response to someone 16 months into an affair who crashed on New Year's Eve—demonstrating how Julie holds pain without judgment, reframes struggle without fixing it, and helps people see they're not regressing but standing at a threshold between surviving something and building towards something else.SUBMIT YOUR OWN STORYhttps://www.theotherwomanandthewife.com/submitHOW WE CAN HELPApply for 1:1 Coaching: https://towtw.com/coachingOUR LINKSWebsite: https://towtw.com/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/theowandthewife/TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@theowandthewife

A folklorist is swept up in a journey to find the proof that supports her seemingly preposterous notion about porcupines and fairy tales. Genre: Fairy Tale Excerpt:Tommie's conjecture concerned the many fairy tales where a sudden growth of thorny vines encompassed a tower or a castle to protect, or more likely imprison, a young woman possessing some degree of power—a princess of surpassing beauty, say, or a sorceress. That growth was typically attributed to a magic spell cast by an evil witch or jealous warlock. Tommie allowed that magic and wickedness may have been involved, or not. Either way, the wild thorny thickets that held back princes were cast out by a creature. "Have you ever heard of the prickly vine porcupine?" The Wheel of Fiction Turns. What did it land on this time? Each Season 9 story follows a theme chosen by the Wheel of Fiction. Thirteen spokes. Eight are the themes from previous seasons. One is "Turn Again." One is a wild card. And three are covered in question marks and will be revealed when the wheel lands on them. This episode landed on CREATURES. Today's episode is about a girl who felt like nobody - even to her own family. She did what was right, learned quietly in the back of rooms, and tried to make others feel special because that's what she wished for herself. One day, someone saw her worth and said she could build an empire. That moment changed how she saw herself. As I grew, I realized something big: there isn't a person alive who's nobody. By being human, we are somebody - important to someone. We matter to our families, our friends, and the people who sit with us at the table. Success is great, but it's the people who love us who make life rich. This episode is my reminder to choose kindness, every day. Smile, notice people, and say something real, especially when someone is having a hard day. Make everyone feel special. When their time comes, they'll remember you—and you'll build amazing things together. See you tomorrow. Thank you for joining me today! I'm having a blast creating Fabulous Over 50 & it would be an honor to have you share it with someone who would enjoy it. Thank you! Want more? Go to the website and you'll find many ways to live your best life over 50! I'd love to hear what you think about this episode, and what you'd like to hear about in the future. Welcome to an another great episode from the archives of The Literary Life podcast! This week we bring you an interview our hosts had with special guest Dr. Vigen Guroian, retired professor of Religious Studies and Orthodox Christianity at the University of Virginia and author of twelve book and numerous scholarly articles. Angelina Stanford and Thomas Banks discuss with Dr. Guroian the new edition of his book, Tending the Heart of Virtue. They start out talking about how the first edition of this book came about, which leads into a discussion about the current approach to fairy tales and children's stories in both academia and the publishing industry. Other topics of conversation include the problem with reducing stories down to a moral, story as mystery, the place of fairy tales in classical education, and the Biblical literacy of the authors of fairy tales. Dr. Guroian also shares his thoughts on people like John Ruskin and Rudyard Kipling. Finally, he shares some suggestions on finding good editions of fairy tale collections. There is still time to register for this year's upcoming annual Literary Life Online Conference, happening January 23-30, 2026, "The Letter Killeth, but the Spirit Quickeneth: Reading Like a Human". Our speakers will be Dr. Jason Baxter, Jenn Rogers, Dr. Anne Phillips, and, of course, Angelina Stanford and Thomas Banks. To view the full show notes, including book links, visit https://theliterary.life/312.
In this absolutely unglued episode, your favorite movie goblins spiral into a double feature of romantic body horror nightmares, breaking down Together, directed by Michael Shanks, and The Ugly Stepsister, directed by Emilie Blichfeldt — two films that boldly ask the question:“What if love… but also screaming?”First up, we tackle Together, where relationships, intimacy, and human bodies all politely agree to stop following the rules of God, science, and decency. We yell about uncomfortable closeness, emotional dependency taken to Cronenberg levels, and how this movie feels like couples therapy if your therapist was a cursed swamp witch. Every conversation somehow becomes:“Would you survive this situation?” (No)“Is this romantic or a biohazard?” (Yes)“Why is the human body like this?” (Rude of it, honestly)Shanks clearly woke up one day and said, “Let's emotionally terrorize everyone who's ever been in a relationship,” and we respect the commitment to violence. Then we skip gleefully into the bloody fairy tale hellscape of The Ugly Stepsister, directed by Emilie Blichfeldt, a gorgeous, grotesque body-horror remix of Cinderella that proves beauty standards have always been a full-contact sport. We lose our collective minds over:Medieval cosmetic surgery nightmaresVomit trauma (so much vomit trauma)Beauty rituals that feel like OSHA violationsThe sheer audacity of adding in THAT MANY you-know-whatWe praise Blichfeldt for crafting a film that feels like it crawled out of a cursed storybook soaked in blood, jealousy, and bad vibes.Somewhere along the way the episode derails into:Screaming about practical effects like proud raccoonsDebating which movie would emotionally destroy us fasterQuestioning every weight loss method ever Arguing whether fairy tales were always body horror and we were just naïve little foolsDeclaring that love is beautiful, disgusting, and possibly hauntedThis episode is basically three horror nerds laughing hysterically while being spiritually attacked by intimate trauma cinema and cursed fairytale energy.CREEP-O-RAMA is: Store: CREEP-O-RAMAYouTube: @creep-o-ramaJosh: @joshblevesqueArtwork: @bargainbinblasphemyTheme: @imfigureAudio: @stranjlove

In this episode of Haunted History Chronicles, I'm joined by writer, folklorist and broadcaster Deborah Hyde to explore one of medieval Britain's most haunting and enduring mysteries: the Green Children of Woolpit. Emerging from a pit on the edge of a Suffolk village in the 12th century, these strange children — with green-tinged skin and a language no one recognised — left behind a story that has lingered for centuries.Drawing on medieval chronicles, folklore traditions and historical context, Deborah carefully examines what may lie behind the tale. Were the Green Children misunderstood migrants, symbolic folklore, or something far stranger? If oral traditions can preserve truth across millennia, we have to ask: what about the stories we still dismiss? Every culture on earth tells of beings who share this world with us but exist by different rules. The Irish Sídhe, the Icelandic Huldufólk, the countless traditions of little people and hidden folk that span every continent. We've been taught these are primitive fantasies. But we said the same thing about Troy. We said the same thing about the giant squid. At what point do we start wondering what else the old stories got right?Follow Viking Superpowers here! --- https://www.youtube.com/@vikingsuperpowers and get the book here https://www.amazon.com/Viking-Superpowers-Suppressed-Technology-Spacefaring/dp/1764091817/ref=sr_1_1If you are having a mental health crisis and need immediate help, please go to https://troubledminds.org/help/ and call somebody right now. In the next part of Prince Ahmed's story, his blissful time with the Fairy Paribanou is interrupted by the machinations of the Sultan's scheming advisers...If you are unfamiliar with the Lang Fairy Tales, these seminal collections were assembled between 1889 and 1913 by a married couple, folklorists and translators Nora and Andrew Lang, with most of the work done to compile them completed by Nora, also known as Leonora Blanche Alleyne.Assembled and published in 12 colour-coded "Fairy Books," the corpus the Langs put together included 798 fairy tales from across cultures, many of which had never before been translated into English. They were amongst the most influential books of their time, changing the course of children's literature - although they're hardly just for children, and often deal with quite challenging concepts.Today, purchasing a complete set of the Lang Fairy Books in good condition costs over £4,000 ($5,000+).Thankfully, the collections are all out of copyright, meaning that we can now tell these stories, in podcast form, many for the first time, and share them with a global audience, for free. Our plan is to release the stories between main series of Three Ravens, performing them straight (though with plenty of silly voices) letting the tales speak for themselves in all their madcap, sharp-edged, often quite bizarre glory. The only edits we have made are to amend some culturally-insensitive epithets, which typically pertain to ethnicity, with any such edits made by Eleanor Conlon.Three Ravens is an English Myth and Folklore podcast hosted by award-winning writers Martin Vaux and Eleanor Conlon.Released on Mondays, each weekly episode focuses on one of England's 39 historic counties, exploring the history, folklore and traditions of the area, from ghosts and mermaids to mythical monsters, half-forgotten heroes, bloody legends, and much, much more. For Tolkien, fairy stories are not stories about fairies, but stories that take place in Faerie. And in doing so, they make Faerie present. They are not escapist fantasies but disclosures of a real mode of being and invitations to live in that mode. In this episode, Phil and JF explore the great writer's radical claims about the nature of story, life, and reality. Kate Rae returns to the podcast with thoughts and questions linking fungi, crop circles, UFOs, orbs, aliens and fairies. A lively conversation ensues until both Kate and Barbara are dumped off the internet in mid sentence! Barbara will fill in the missing material in the show note.
Part 2 of the Podcast ConversationIf Part 1 is about realizing where you stand,Part 2 is about what it takes to stay there and not get pulled into the dark. There are only two ways forwardeven when the world pretends there's moreI will stand inside the risingI won't fracture anymoreI won't carry every choosingI won't wear another's fearI let the light within me riseand become what's real from hereThis is where the song becomes less poetic and a real tool we can use— not in a “do this” way, but in a lived, embodied way. This conversation continues, giving you more information about what we see in 2026, and what this song embodies for all of us. And how to use it throughout 2026.Because standing isn't a moment. It's a relationship with yourself and the reality you are co-creating moment to moment. And how you affect the entire world.Your Mantra. Say it out loud when you catch yourself indulging in negativity, victim aggressor, blame, fear, all the dark frequencies.“The light within rises and takes form - through me”(Disclaimer: no Fairies were harmed or killed in the making of this podcast! - listen to the end of the Wisdom Keeper hour to understand this joke - or not a joke… maybe it's real?)Podcast Part 2: Staying Steady Without HardeningIn Part 2, we talk about:* Why doing without alignment to your true self becomes exhausting this year* Why 2026 exposes reality in a non-linear fashion.* What we do when we think we failed. Tools that take us out of negative indulgence instantly.* What does Lemuria have to do with it?This episode tends to land differently depending on when you listen to it — and I actually love that. It tells me the conversation is interacting with timing, not belief.Wisdom Keeper Hour (Subscriber Conversation)In the Wisdom Keeper Hour for Part 2, we move into territory I don't usually speak about publicly:* Longer-range implications that became visible during the December 31st live stream* How the STAND frequency carries beyond what we think is “real”* Why some paths close cleanly, while others simply fade away* What holding your position actually requires — energetically, emotionally, relationally and practicallyThis isn't instruction. It's confirmation. Well, maybe it is instruction. Or even orders. Marching orders. For many individuals, families and communities, this part puts words to decisions they've already made — or truths they've been quietly circling. It's a remembrance, really. Remember. Stay in the light.A Note From Me to YouSTAND isn't about defiance. It's about presence and who you truly are and why you are here. It acknowledges the struggle we will be facing when we can't influence those we love to choose the light. When they refuse to release power over others, victimhood, aggressor or savior energies. When they get sick and refuse to heal. These two podcast episodes — and the Wisdom Keeper Hour conversations that follow them — are an invitation to listen beneath the lyrics, beneath the year ahead, and beneath the noise, to that place where choice becomes obvious and self-betrayal and fracturing becomes unnecessary. The place where your truth resides and remembrance is yours to hold.2026 responds quickly.Where you stand matters.I KNOW you've already chosen. I see you.IneliaThe discussion doesn't stop here - listen to the full podcast episode for unfiltered insights from Inelia and our panelists. This is a public episode. Author Susie Spikol about her books Forest Magic (For Kids) and The Book of Fairies. Susie has spent nearly thirty years working as a naturalist at nature centers and spends her time reminding people about the wonders of open-ended play outdoors. In Forest Magic, she has created dozens of activities for kids and parents that are inspired by her work and the magic of the natural world. Her latest book, The Book of Fairies, is a field guide to fairies. She began this book when she was eight years old, making up stories to explain what she saw in the natural world. The Book of Fairies includes real science peppered throughout its pages, as well as a fun and imaginative "how to find" section for each fairy.
A little shorthanded again this week but we just chat a ton. We talk about the games from last weekend and talk the future games but really, this was just a nice little chat session about different things going on in our lives along with some sports and how we felt about things like the Eagle fans pelting 49er fans relentlessly with snowballs and some of the coaching carousel going on. Poor AJ didn't feel real well and worse than that was Grim's playoff loss hangover by the Steelers.YouTube Link: OatB Ep. - 210 - Bear the Lane Fairy

Prophecy Radio episode #152 offers wooly thoughts alongside a discussion of Percy Jackson and the Olympians season 2, episode 6, “Nobody Gets the Fleece.” There's also some news to discuss, as well as a recap of the Percy Jackson and the Olympians Official Podcast, which features guests Aleks Pauvnoic, Albert Kim, and the incomparable Andrew McIlroy. New episodes of Prophecy Radio air every other week. All discussions are PG-13.News and Updates (00:05:44) Percy Jackson and the Olympians season 2 has debuted with strong numbers according to The Wrap. We can't help but mention Pluribus, as it seems everyone is watching it at the moment. Did you know there's an official Percy Jackson and the Olympians shop now? You can also get some great merch at Hot Topic! Did you catch the beautiful birthday message to Walker from his dad? There's no Percy Jackson and the Olympians season 4 renewal news, but they ARE working on it at the moment. We channel a little Positive Patty and/or Optimistic Olivia energy and talk about the chances of getting seasons 4 and 5. Percy Jackson and the Olympians season 2, episode 6 discussion (00:14:52) Let's kick off the episode 6 discussion with Tyson in the water. Daniel Diemer does such a good job of getting Tyson's thoughts and feelings across while underwater. RAINBOW TO THE RESCUE. Percy has a pretty awful dream about Camp. It looks like Kronos is dropping by, but when the hood is pulled back it's someone else. Why do you think they showed Thalia in this scene? How does Percy know what she looks like? Percy wants to get a head start on their plan, but Annabeth remains calm and tells him that's not a good idea. Back on the island, Polyphemus regales Clarisse and Grover with tales of his solitary life. Shoutout to Nobody. They made Polyphemus SO MUCH SCARIER than he was in the books. We keep hearing Pan's name. Percy keeps watch while Annabeth grabs some pelts. Luke interrupts with some rainbow wiggles. Annabeth admits Luke might be right about Thalia's feelings about Zeus, but he was also wrong to think she'd be on Kronos' side. This part wasn't in the book, but it's such a great addition. Percy has a dramatic entrance. Was he worried that Annabeth might be betraying him? Was the call about recon or about checking in on Annabeth? “Think wooly thoughts.” Those sheep sounds were pretty legit. Plot twist! Polyphemus set a trap for the demigods. We get a classic Clarisse and Percy moment. Annabeth uses that big brain of hers to distract Polyphemus. Luke uses a portal to travel to the island, and Karen has some questions about the science of the magic. Shoutout to the makeup department because Annabeth's wounds looked BRUTAL. All seems lost…until Tyson returns! Did Percy understand what they said in Ancient Greek? How did Tyson get one up on Polyphemus? Luke arrives at the worst or possibly even the best time. Percy really did try to come up with a different solution than just handing over the fleece. Were we surprised Luke healed Annabeth? How do we feel about the changes from the book here? Tyson saves the day AGAIN, and Percy is so glad he's alive. And like the wish-granting fairy that he is, Tyson has a solution to their problem of no transportation. Percy gets yet another epic line to end the episode. Next time: Young Annabeth, a recovering sarcophagus, Clarisse liking her odds, and BLACKJACK!! Percy Jackson and the Olympians Official Podcast highlights (01:25:15) Aryan and Aleks are in divorce arbitration, and Andrew makes his big debut on the podcast. But first we need to talk about what is was like to play Polyphemus. This is not the first time Aleks has been a cyclops in a Percy Jackson production. Did you realize they did mostly practical effects for Polyphemus? What character inspired the “simple” version of Polyphemus? Did you know what forced perspective was? Which did you like better, the proposal or the prom pictures? The second guest on the podcast was Albert Kim, one of the series' writers. They wanted to surprise even the most diehard fans of the books. We talk about Percy's fatal flaw, and his reaction to giving up the fleece. It's no surprise the sheep were afraid of Polyphemus. Aryan finally gets his ring! Andrew McIlroy returns to talk about his experience on the show so far. It was interesting hearing how they “found” Tyson and Teen!Luke. Kronos is totally a cult leader. We get some insight into how the kids prepare for each scene, including an example of the exercise with the ball that they do to get into character. Why doesn't Andrew go to any of the functions? Where did his commitment to the craft come from? Everyone has such respect for Glynn Turman. Thanks for listening, and tune in next time for episode #153, where we'll recap Percy Jackson and the Olympians season 2, episode 7, as well as the next episode of the Percy Jackson and the Olympians Official Podcast. This episode's hosts are: Karen and KristenEach episode, Prophecy Radio‘s hosts will discuss any official news coming out of Camp Half-Blood before doing a chapter by chapter reread of Percy Jackson or one of Rick Riordan's other series.Follow Us: Instagram // Facebook // TumblrListen and Subscribe: Audioboom // Apple // SpotifyFeel free to leave us your questions or comments through any of these mediums! The Sound Chaser Progressive Rock Podcast is on the air. The show this time is the 12th anniversary show. The show has been broadcasting biweekly since January, 2014. To honor this 12th anniversary achievement, I have dedicated this show to the 12-string guitar. Every piece of music on this show, with the exception of one song that is part of a suite, features the 12-string, mostly acoustic, but a couple of electric as well. It's a varietal mix starring an instrument more common to prog than to other forms of popular music, and definitely part of the whole prog vibe. All that plus news of tours and releases on Sound Chaser. Playlist1. Supertramp - C'est Le Bon, from "...famous last words..."2. Led Zeppelin - Over the Hills and Far Away, from Houses of the Holy3. Is there a secret kingdom hidden in the heart of Oklahoma City? This week, Brett and Harley are tracking down the "Gnome on the Range" at the historic Will Rogers Gardens. We dive into the magical world of fairy houses and gnome homes handcrafted by Robert Trobaugh of the OKC Parks Department. From "turtle traffic jams" to Easter Island-style sculptures, discover why this 30-acre oasis is the ultimate "Oklahoma Disney movie." In this episode, we discuss: The Fairy Kingdom of 405: How Robert Trobaugh uses salvaged materials to build a five-star resort for mythological creatures. Will Rogers Gardens Gems: The Ed Lycan Conservatory's massive cacti collection and the historic WPA-era red stone shelters. Garden Bouncers: Why the "gazillion" turtles and koi are the real bosses of the park. Family Magic: Tips for starting your own fairy garden (and how to save your bank account from "miniature furniture" debt). Break: Think Ability Inc. We spotlight Think Ability Inc., a Duncan-based non-profit providing independent living support for people with developmental disabilities. Modern fairy tales often conclude with a protagonist achieving their dreams and a simple "happily ever after." This popular image, often promoted by studios like Disney for family-friendly consumption, only scratches the surface of these classic narratives. In reality, many of these beloved stories boast far darker origins, featuring unsettling themes and grim endings that would be entirely unsuitable for children's movies.
