It's time to get trippy with our Latin Psychedelic episode! We highlight the groovy sounds of Adrian Quesada, Jungle Fire, El Chicano, Glue Trip, Plastilina Mosh, Ocote Soul Sounds, Arthur Verocai, Ismael Miranda and more!
Season 8 of Pili, Raúl & La Música kicks off with pure rhythm and the magical energy that only Jungle Fire can bring! Presented by Maker's Mark, Pili and Raúl speak with members Alberto Lopez and Joey Reina, who share the history of the band and their best anecdotes in front of an intimate audience at the Rhythm Room in downtown Los Angeles, a legendary speakeasy of the city. From comparing their performances with those of a DJ and the beauty of sharing them with friends, to the magic of music and dancing, and their power to bring people together, you will not want to miss this outrageously fun episode!
--- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/los-bastardos-con-suerte/message

--- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/los-bastardos-con-suerte/message

Sean also plays a vital role in the future of music education as part of the faculty of the Musicians Institute. Check out what Sean has to say about the formation of Jungle Fire, trying not to be too busy, being clear on your purpose for playing, playing in the Brian Setzer Orchestra, the importance of being yourself, writing the trumpet curriculum for the Musicians Institute, creating a new approach to educating commercial players, the importance of networking and building relationships, sound concepts, musical influences, listening to lead trumpet players, being patient, and so much more.

On today’s very special episode of Songmess we’re joined by Bay Area DJ and writer Juan Data, who is sharing golden stories from his nearly 25 years in the music business. Originally from Argentina, Juan Data moved to California about 20 years ago, and today’s conversation highlights his passion for Latin American hip hop and funk, his upcoming book “La Historia del Rap en Argentina,” the contrasts of freestyle and trap culture across Spanish language rap and how Bay Area music and nightlife scenes have evolved over the years, particularly in the face of gentrification. April finds us on confinement and the best remedy for this strange days is a good dose of sunny and positive music. Bosq is definitely one of our favourite artists here at Poly-Rythmo Club headquarters, he already played at our nights last summer in Barcelona and now it's time for him to hit the Radio Primavera Sound airwaves. On this exclusive interview from his home studio in Medellin Colombia, we talked about his afro latin influences, the way he chooses and creates music with his stellar collaborators (Ex. Nidia Góngora, Kaleta, Jungle Fire), he shares some of his favourite tracks during confinement and also presents his new EP that is been released the same day of this show's premier. Benjamin Woods aka Bosq has been tirelessly exploring the intersections of Afro-Latin music with Disco, Funk, House and Hip Hop for years. He first gained notoriety as one half of the Whiskey Barons, releasing a continuous stream of edits and remixes including heavy hitters like Fania Records, Orchestre Poly Rhythmo de Cotonou, Daniel Grau and many more. Since the release of his first album of entirely original music, Bosq y Orquesta de Madera he has only increased the pace and gained the title of Afro Funk Maestro. Bosq’s music has seen consistent play from the likes of Gilles Peterson, Kerri Chandler, Poolside, Nancy Whang, Soul Clap and Laurent Garnier amongst others. Press play, grab a drink and dance at home to Bosq's musical universe!

“In order to be big, we need a lot of players.” Jungle Fire guitarist bassist Joseph Reina lays it out pretty clear: to be able to create muscular afro funk workouts, the Los Angeles outfit need at least ten musicians. But even with a guitarist missing, the nonet sound bold and kinetic when they joined DJ Chilly on El Sonido for four songs and a breakdown of their story as a band. The silkily-voiced Garzon-Montano toured with Lenny Kravitz last year, and Crawl is only one of a slew of songs I've been hitting rewind to from his debut album. Noname has dropped one of the most beautifully subtle soul albums of 2016, but it's only now I've found the the time for a proper listen. Manc hip hop from longtime pal Dubbul O hits hard and pays tribute to Gang Starr with its title. Paul White's beat on Lion's Den is dreamy. Synths abound from Aim, Survive, Mogwai and Onyeabor. Lord Echo provides this episode's title and Jungle Fire are back with their second album, Jambu. Piano soul from Sampha and Joseph Scaturro, crazy funk from Thundercat and pure jump-up South American rhythm from Quantic and Nidia. The theme from one of my favourite films, bass from the Cosmic Bridge stable with a Transformers reference and one from the Havana meets Kingston project. Hope you hear something you like! Five years! It's hard to believe but I've been at this for five years! What started out as an off the cuff suggestion from my wife has become my favorite hobby and frankly, a body of work that I pretty proud of. Not only is it a great musical journal for myself but it has connected me with people all over the world, facilitated incredible conversations with friends and strangers alike, and opened doors to all sorts of amazing experiences. Five years in, my motivation hasn't changed. I don't do this to spread my name or to try and impress. I do it because I just love music. I love listening to it, seeing it live, playing it, thinking about it, and as you already know, I really like talking about it. And that last bit is where the podcast has been such a gift. Again, some of the conversations, discussions, and connections, and experiences it has enabled are, well, to use a favorite word of mine, awesome.Alright so anyway, here is episode 63. While this is a hastily put together collection of tracks, most of these I have have been meaning to get on the podcast for somewhere between days and years. They have just been floating around in the unsorted list. Some songs are just difficult to fit into the theme of the month. They are all amazing though and the fifth year special seemed like an opportune time for a broad survey.Come join the conversation over at www.facebook.com/activelistener or shoot me an email at aaron@activelistenerpodcast.com. You know I'm always looking for new tunes. Thanks for listening and don't forget to support the artists.Aaronwww.activelistenerpodcast.comTracklist (THESE ARE LINKS TO BUY THE TRACKS)1. Agent J brings a bag of new hip hop, jazz and funk to open December. Highlights for me are the most successful LabelGroovement release so far from Mecca 83, that Polystation track (Chilean beats from Discos Cetaceos) and the dons Jungle Fire, who I hooked up with on their Manchester date at Band on the Wall. An amazing band (featuring members of Orgone, Breakestra, Ozomatli and the like) who should smash 2014 - the track below is taken from their limited-to-3oo tour CD, available only at shows. Also a shout to the homie Depakote, who has a couple of features on this mix - his new one, Creative Freedumb, is out now on Zypher. Enjoy, and let me know what you think over on Twitter (@jamiegroovement) or Facebook (/groovementradio) 00:00 Early Reed and J Scienide - MANSION & A YACHT (cuts by DJ JON DOE) 02:49 Polystation - Descoh 05:39 Mecca 83 - All Mine 09:03 PrezSport - IFYA 13:28 Fatima - La Neta 17:49 Beat Spacek - ALONE IN DA SUN 19:43 Debian Blak - Say You ft Joshua Idehen 28:14 Slugabed - U RIGHT 31:30 Robot Koch - Sugar Owl 34:34 Depakote - bionic porn 37:18 Soul Khan - Praying for a River 38:18 Débruit & Alsarah - Alrahal 41:13 Sean Price & M-Phazes - Land of the Crooks (feat.
