The story so far: So much happens in the Movie Hole (like dying, killer robots, killer clowns, magic mole scrolls, etc) that sometimes it's nice to take a break from all the insanity.Who knew other people could check-out movies from the Movie Hole?! Portanto, eu comecei a trabalhar no cinema. Trabalhar no cinema. Então digo ‘obrigado' a eles", diz o cineasta.

When blues powerhouse Albert Castiglia crossed paths with Bill Murray, neither could have predicted the musical partnership that would follow. In this captivating conversation with Greg Koch, Castiglia pulls back the curtain on how a Hollywood legend became his unexpected bandmate through a series of serendipitous connections that began with Murray's brother John."If Bill Murray wants to play in your band, you let him in your band," Castiglia remarks with characteristic humor. But beneath the celebrity factor lies a genuine musical connection that has taken them from intimate clubs to prestigious venues like Red Rocks. Far from seeking the spotlight, Murray approaches their collaboration with refreshing humility, insisting on equal billing and content to play percussion while occasionally stepping forward for a song. The audience response has been electric, with fans sometimes appearing in Ghostbusters costumes, moved to tears by Murray's magnetic stage presence.Castiglia's own journey through the blues landscape reveals the persistence required to build a sustainable career. From his early influences (discovering blues through Clapton and Johnny Winter's productions with Muddy Waters) to navigating the catch-22 of needing both a record deal and booking agent simultaneously, he speaks candidly about industry challenges. After cycling through five agencies, finding the right representation finally allowed him to expand from 100 shows annually to between 150-200 performances a year. The conversation touches on deeper themes of artistic growth, with Castiglia recently incorporating Coltrane's "Afro Blue" into his setlists after being inspired by Derek Trucks. He also reflects on lifestyle changes that have sustained his longevity, embracing sobriety after COVID and taking up boxing and Kung Fu to maintain his energy for grueling tour schedules. "I do this for the memories," he explains, capturing the essence of why musicians endure the hardships of the road.Ready to experience a genuine conversation between two musicians who've weathered decades in the business? Welcome to the mini pods, where it's just me (Chris) talking about my thoughts on a new movie. Usually the pods have more in-depth research, these are more just like me and minor research.Karate Kid is back and more kung fu-er than ever! Why is this about kung fu and not karate? Well .. you saw the remake, yeah? Anyways, kind of a strange installment in the Kid franchise that doesn't really use the characters as much as they should and really doesn't explore the big tournament like one would expect. The love interest is there, as well as her dad, a tutor and a pizza shop. Although I love seeing Jackie Chan and anything Karate Kid related, this movie left me empty and confused. If you're not doing so already, please like and follow Classic American Movies on Instagram and Facebook. I do free movie giveaways, mini movie reviews and more! Also, I decided to dabble in making my own slasher film entitled “Bishop's Day”. Check out the Instagram page for updates.

Send us a textEver wondered why AI can be simultaneously brilliant and bewilderingly clueless? Reed Coke, Director of Engineering at KUNGFU.AI, offers a beautifully simple explanation: AI is like singing along to songs in a language you don't know. You recognize patterns and can predict what comes next without truly understanding the meaning.Reed brings his unique background as a linguist-turned-AI engineer to explain natural language processing in terms kids (and adults) can grasp. Growing up bilingual in Dutch and English sparked his passion for languages, eventually leading him to discover programming as a powerful tool for studying human communication. This intersection became his specialty - building AI systems that interact with language. The conversation explores fascinating territory, from Reed's work on an AI system that could detect cancer risks five years before diagnosis to the amusing challenges of teaching computers to understand context (like distinguishing complaints about counterfeit products from reviews of Halloween "fake doctor" costumes). Reed breaks down complex concepts like supervised learning without sacrificing accuracy, making them accessible for young listeners.Reed offers practical advice on getting started with AI through resources like Code Academy, Code Combat, kidspython.com, and Black Girls Hack, emphasizing that community-based learning through classes and camps often provides the best support. Most importantly, he encourages approaching AI development with empathy - considering who created the training data, what experiences it represents, and how systems will affect real people.Ready to dive deeper into the world of AI? I will teach you real Kung Fu. Welcome to my dojo, this is Kung Fu Pizza Party. Today, we make our final stop on our journey to Karate Kid Legends with a review of the 2010 Karate Kid film starring Jackie Chan and Jaden Smith. Returning to the dojo today is Joshua Noel of Systematic Geekology and Be Living Water. In this episode, we break down the tournament scene in the film, the lack of a central technique for the protagonist to learn to win the final match, and how cool/cheesey the temple scene was. Josh and I also talk how Taoist philosophy runs throughout this story. Vanguardistas have more fun—so if you don't already subscribe to the podcast, join the Vanguard today via Apple Podcasts or extratakes.com for non-fruit-related devices. In return you'll get a whole extra Take 2 alongside Take 1 every week, with bonus reviews, more viewing recommendations from the Good Doctors and whole bonus episodes just for you. And if you're already a Vanguardista, we salute you. It's time for another of those very special episodes where we all get to say “hello” to one of our very favourite friends of the show in the actual flesh (or whatever the audio equivalent of that is...). You guessed it, our guest this week is the one and only Jason Isaacs. He drops in for a chat with both Simon and Mark about ‘The Salt Path'—a seriously inspirational film that sees him walk the South West Coast Path in a journey of massive resilience and self-discovery alongside Gillian Anderson. They play the real-life couple Moth and Raynor Winn, who walked the path after losing their home and livelihood, and wrote the bestselling memoir on which the film is based. It's a seriously meaty chat and Jason is on top form—you don't want to miss it. Mark reviews it too, plus two more big releases this week. We've got ‘Karate Kid: Legends', the high-kicking and wholesome latest in the Kung Fu franchise, starring Jackie Chan—and ‘The Ritual'--an exorcism horror with a demon-ousting Priest played by... Al Pacino??? This one sounds like Kermode catnip, so listen in and say your prayers for a rant or a redemption. Simon is back this week too, so expect bumper banter from the Good Doctors.
