This period crime drama has often been described as "Goodfellas with Motorcyle's" as it chronicles the saga of a Midwestern motorcycle club or "gang" in 1967 adapted from a non-fiction photo-book of the same name. The story focuses on Kathy (Jodie Comer) who is new to this world and has fallen in love with one of the drivers, Benny (Austin Butler) the charismatic, generally quiet biker whom she falls in love with, and Johnny (Tom Hardy) the intimidating leader of this recently formed gang - each of them are loosely based on real people as are several others in this stacked cast including Michael Shannon, Boyd Holbrook, and Norman Reedus. As directed by acclaimed filmmaker Jeff Nichols (Mud, Take Shelter, Midnight Special), we follow their adventures on the road and off....Host: Geoff GershonEdited By Ella GershonProducer: Marlene Gershon Send us a Text Message.https://livingforthecinema.com/Facebook:https://www.facebook.com/Living-for-the-Cinema-Podcast-101167838847578Instagram:https://www.instagram.com/livingforthecinema/Letterboxd:https://letterboxd.com/Living4Cinema/
On this episode of the NHRA Insider Jianna Evaristo joins host Brian Lohnes to talk about her final round appearance at the recent Super Grip NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals and Tony Pedregon joins to talk about what will be a sweltering weekend at the PlayNHRA Virginia Nationals. Evaristo rode one of the best races of her career in Bristol and it was the culmination of a lot of work, training, and adaptation to the V-Twin Buell motorcycle she is riding this season. The conversation has plenty of depth about the competition in Pro Stock Motorcycle, the internal nature of drag racing's mental game, and how Evaristo has been working for her success over the course of several seasons. This is a truly interesting trip through the story and the mind of a high-level competitor. The story of the PlayNHRA Virginia Nationals is yet to be written but the prologue can be described as heat. Tony Pedregon and Brian Lohnes talk about the challenges, potential pitfalls, and keys to success in racing through conditions that will test the stamina of everyone on the property, no matter their role at the track. A fast moving show that covers a lot of ground!
Motorcycles racing around Walmart to people calling the police on others for laughing, this is truly special of Wisconsin small-town crime.
1. We spent all of hour one talking about a textbook F' AROUND AND FIND OUT incident that originated in Pearl yesterday with a motorcycle rider decided to say ALL GAS NO BRAKES and try to outrun Pearl Police and run to the criminal safe haven of Jackson, Mississippi. The pursuit ended with a wreck involving the motorcycle and the police cruiser as they got off the High St. exit and the bike downshifted and slowed down very quickly, which caused the cruiser to bump into the back of him, knocking him off the bike and then arresting him. 2. This of course took us down a familiar rabbit hole of discussing rather or not police should pursue criminals on minor traffic violations, I say yes but plenty of people disagree.
This angsty Motorcycle Club romance has us chatting about the depths of love our hero will go to to keep his first love safe, and all of the delicious tension that comes along with an MC romance story.

Police Officer Shot In The Neck. Died 3 Times During Surgery. Denied Pension By The City. His amazing and heroic battle to survive being shot. His recoveryand life after being rejected for a line of duty pension. Former Police Officer (Worker's Compensation) Shares Harrowing Tale of Surviving a Shooting, Three Near-Death Experiences in Surgery, and City's Absence of Line-of-Duty Medical Pensions. On the fateful day of November 8, 2017, Corporal Timothy Sterrett, a dedicated officer serving in Forest Park, Georgia, found himself in a life-altering situation while responding to a call—a confrontation with a criminal that ended in him sustaining a gunshot wound. Compounded by significant medical challenges, this incident eventually led to his involuntary retirement by the City of Forest Park. Corporal Sterrett endured a gunshot to the neck, and during the subsequent surgical procedures to save his life, he faced the unimaginable ordeal of dying on three separate occasions. Despite his incredible resilience and the sacrifices he made in the line of duty, he was met with a disheartening revelation: The Forest Park Police Department refused to grant him medical retirement. According to him, the department cited its longstanding policy of not providing medical retirement benefits to officers injured in the line of duty as the reason behind this decision. BAD BOY WITH A MOTORCYCLE by Robert TopolseIt is 1959 and the end of summer in the German town area of South St Louis, Missouri. Dan is a 19-year-old boy whose only goal is to become a professional motorcycle racer. He wants to become an Expert so that he can compete on the dirt tracks across the country. Right now, Dan is an Amateur and needs only one race win to become an Expert. He has everything he could ever want, including a childhood girl friend called Yvonne, who is in love with him. Then he gets a phone call from a 17-year-old girl named Bonny who wants a ride on his motorcycle. She is everything he does not need. But for some reason he can't let her go. Things go from bad to worse when he is unable to choose between Bonny and Yvonne. Soon each girl has decided that he is the one, and marriage is in the future. Neither girl knows about the other, Bonny is a secret love because Bonny is forbidden to go out with boys. Bonny and her father live in a cabin in the city dump where her father is the manager. Bonny is truly Poor White Trash. Bonny's father accuses Bonny of stealing a ring, that Dan gave her for Christmas. He cruelly beats her, and Bonny decides that they should not see each other. Dan misreads what Bonny is saying and thinks they are breaking up. In despair he gives up everything including Yvonne and racing. After Bonny's graduation, she decides to search Dan out, and then all hell breaks loose.https://www.amazon.com/BAD-BOY-MOTORCYCLE-ROBERT-TOPOLSE-ebook/dp/B08NYYDZVS/ref=sr_1_2?dchild=1&qid=1630460922&refinements=p_27%3AROBERT+TOPOLSE&s=digital-text&sr=1-2&text=ROBERT+TOPOLSEhttps://roberttopolsebooks.com/http://www.bluefunkbroadcasting.com/root/twia/rtopolseghp.mp3 THE RACE FOR THE CHAMPIONSHIP by Robert TopolseThe race for the championship is a love story built around hard-core motorcycle racing, from the flat tracks of the Springfield mile and the short tracks of Ascot, to the TT's of Peoria and the paved tracks of Daytona. Dan has run off with his girlfriend Bonny to become a professional motorcycle racer. After a poor start by breaking his leg and having to work as a mechanic, he and his girlfriend Bonny, feel that they are ready to take on the challenge for the AMA championship. Being the protégé of 3-time national champion Clyde Bergermann, Dan has been put on the Harley Davidson racing team. The racing is intense and Dan has to fight for every point. Clyde is not willing to give up his 4th championship challenge, and the other racers are just as persistent. Being a rookie, Dan is perceived as a loud mouthed, hot aired upstart with an over inflated opinion of himself, and Bonny finds out that there is a hierarchy among the woman in the Harley Davidson team. Being much younger, she is perceived as an immature child who is just tagging along, and doesn't know what she is talking about. She tries to fit in, but is treated as if she doesn't exist. Dan's Achilles Heel is road racing, and at the Daytona 200, he becomes the laughing stock of the Harley team. But it is also at Daytona, where Dan begins to display his never give up character. Bonny's love for Dan and her faith in God will become an inspiration for all. When Bonny ran off with Dan, she never thought about marriage or children. But as the season progresses, She begins to realize that maybe there is more waiting for her in the future.https://www.amazon.com/RACE-CHAMPIONSHIP-ROBERT-TOPOLSE-ebook/dp/B097Z3CXLR/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=The+race+for+the+championship+by+Robert+Topolse&qid=1630460831&sr=8-1https://roberttopolsebooks.com/

Roger Chan is someone that I've wanted to get to know better for a while! His reputation precedes him in that most locals in my neck of the woods have a great deal of respect for him. Many seek him out for advice on a myriad of subjects from relationships to politics. He has done it all and has overcome some painful experiences. Rather than making him bitter, he became wiser. Roger is also a motorcycle enthusiast who is the former Chef/Owner/Operator at Rolling Thunder Roadhouse. He has also been a teacher, worked in government and politics. Mr. Roger Chan gave me the honor of being my guest on KathysRight.com. His perspective of life was transformative for me to be honest. He thrives no matter what life throws at him and he is helping by teaching others to do the same in his blog www.whatwouldrogersay.com. I'm now a true fan of this man! Introducing Roger Chan!

This week on the Minnesota Native News Health Report, surges in Northern Minnesota, worries about Sturgiss, and warnings about scams. I'm Marie Rock. The small town of Sturgiss South Dakota will be full of motorcycle enthusiasts this week, and that worries public health officials. Reporter Laurie Stern has more. Laurie: More than a quarter million motorcycle riders are expected to head for the annual party in Sturgiss South Dakota this week. An attempt to cancel the rally failed, and now public health officials are asking bikers to remember the virus when they come home. This is Health Department Commissioner Jan Malcolm.JM: it's not just the risk to yourself but your ability to, to spread the virus to people who may be at at a higher risk when you might consider yourself to be. So it would be it would be really prudent no and I really very thoughtful thing to do for people to quarantine if they if they do go to Sturgis and come back and certainly be vigilant and watch for symptoms and get tested. consider getting tested, five to seven days after you get back even even if you don't have symptoms, but to stay away from from other people for that for that period of time, would be really thoughtful thing to do.Malcolm also reported continued case growth and hospitalizations. St. Louis County in Northern Minnesota – full of favorite spots to gather and vacation – is reporting the fastest growth in cases of any county in the state. JM We've been seeing pretty significant case growth and an uptick in hospitalizations like in June.Officials also warned about scams. People taking advantage of people's anxiety about the virus and precautions they're being asked to take: This is Kris Ehresman, director of the state's division of infection disease. KE: We've received emails about fake “get out of mask free cards” posing as official MDH certificates being used at businesses and restaurants. One of the most disturbing parts of this fake message is it seeks to confuse people into not wearing a mask when it would be especially important to do so. Like saying dry cough, a common symptom of Covid, is because of dry mold in your mask and warrants its disposal. Ehresman said there are also scams related to contact tracing. She said real contact tracers will always use the phone – not text – and will never ask for your social security or credit card information. If you've been approached by scammers, health officials want you to report that to the attorney general's office.Marie: Now a cheerier update from youth correspondent Jennifer Cortes (KORE-tess)

Adam Kallen just happens to be my awesome brother, the perfect guest for a podcast about family and mental wellness. Adam was the handsome captain of the football team, varsity baseball star and scholar-athlete who had all the girls calling and all the boys wanting to befriend him. He was also hyperactive and an impulsive child who got suspended for fighting; his ADHD going undiagnosed. Adam’s self-medication led him down a dark path towards crystal meth addiction and homelessness. I’m so happy to tell you Adam has been sober for 13 years and has never been happier or more mentally healthy. Today he hosts the most popular all-men's AA meetings in Brooklyn at JANE motorcycles, his super cool hybrid clothing brand, coffee, and motorcycle shop. Adam took his street-smart intelligence and tapped into his gifts by using his creative talents in marketing, fashion, design, and networking to build a successful business and loyal community. My brother is my inspiration and still the life of the party. Whereas he once was shady, like addicts tend to become when they lie or steal at all costs to get their drugs, he is now a person of great integrity and honor. Docs Outside The Box - Ordinary Doctors Doing Extraordinary Things
On this episode, I get to chat with a physician who’s splitting his time between expeditions in Antarctica and on the motorcycle race track. My next guest, Dr. Nicholas Steinour, is an Emergency Medicine physician currently practicing in Austin, Texas. Dr. Steinour’s mantra is “enjoy things that make you fully present in life,” and without a doubt, he is living a life outside the box. You’re going to hear about how he’s become part of a team of physicians that provide medical support to expeditions in the South Pole. We’re talking about caring for seal bites, sea sickness, and of course hypothermia. He’s also combined his childhood passion for motorcycles with medicine and provides medical care to various racing circuits that are in Texas. Ladies! Please join our Be Bold Facebook Group! You are in for a real treat today. This is a long conversation with a woman whom you’ve likely never heard of before but I can guarantee you will want to meet and hang out with her after you listen to this episode. I’m not sure if it’s her accent, which is beyond charming, or it’s her self-deprecating way or it’s her keen observations about herself and others. It’s probably a combination of all of those. But whatever it is, you’re going to be pulled into a conversation that is just gonna make you feel good and, hopefully, it’s gonna make you think differently about what’s possible for yourself. So, this conversation is with Sue Hollis. Sue is an Australian but she currently splits her time between the land down under and Canada. It was my very good fortune that she happened to be in Canada this summer and was willing to take a ride down here to Seattle on her beloved motorcycle, Voodoo, as she calls it, to record. Anyway, Sue just released a book called Riding Raw: The Journey from Empty to Full which chronicles her three-month ride through North America (mostly in the western US and parts of Canada) on her 1000 CC BMW superbike. As a rider myself, I can attest to the fact that 1000 cc’s is a big bike, especially for a petite woman like Sue. But she took on this big trip after feeling like her “perfect” world wasn’t so perfect and she needed a drastic change to reclaim her life and find, what she calls, heart success. She really has a wonderful story to tell about her rise in the corporate travel world and how she always felt that she was going to be found out as a fraud at what she was doing (and that came with a lot of stress and fear). She went on to build a multi-million dollar business but still felt empty (hence the sub-title of the book, from empty to full). As you can imagine, she’s got some great stories to tell, not only about her past life in her career but also about her journey on Voodoo. And there are great lessons in here for all of us, not just for unhappy corporate execs or motorcycle riders. Some of the lessons she shares are really accessible to us all. And that’s probably what makes this conversation so much fun and interesting. So with that, here’s my conversation with Sue Hollis. ____ By the way...I’d love to hear your feedback! Send me a note at beth@beboldpodcast.com and let me know what you think. You can also leave voice feedback or ask a question by calling 877-280-5170. I’d love to grow our community by featuring you and your questions on future episodes. If you’ve got suggestions for future guests, I’m all ears. I’m going to be on Kauai and also in NYC later this month (and probably the Bay Area, LA and Portland soon) so if you have any suggestions, you can fill out a guest submission form on the Be Bold podcast website. _____ Connect with Sue:Website | Instagram | Facebook Links/books/people mentionedRiding Raw: A Journey from Empty to Full by Sue Hollis (Amazon) The Brain's Way of Healing by Norman Doige (Amazon) Arrowsmith Schools Nicole Antoinette (on Be Bold Podcast) Travel Edge Destination Highways (Amazon) Ben Greenfield Krista Tippet's On Being Rich Roll Finding Ultra by Rich Roll (Amazon) Brendan Brazier Vega foods Thrive by Brendan Brazier (Amazon) Whistler Ironman 2019 The Book of Joy by Desmund Tutu and the Dalai Lama (Amazon) Connect with me: Facebook Instagram WanderTours Be Bold Facebook Group (women-only) Twitter Enjoyed this episode?
