On today's Flyover Conservatives Show, we sat down to examine the widespread belief that the world is spiraling downward — and whether Christians have been misled into thinking we're losing when the evidence shows otherwise. We break down global trends in faith, culture, health, conflict, and human flourishing, comparing media-driven fear narratives with historical data and real-world outcomes. The discussion explores how constant exposure to crisis headlines can distort perception and shape a defeatist mindset within the Church. This conversation challenges viewers to rethink the “doom narrative,” recognize signs of progress, and understand the role believers play in shaping the future rather than retreating from it.TO WATCH ALL FLYOVER CONTENT: www.theflyoverapp.comFollow and Subscribe on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@TheFlyoverConservativesShow JD KingWEBSITE: www.jdking.netYou've Been Duped Book: https://christospublishing.com/products/why-youve-been-duped-into-believing-that-the-world-is-getting-worse-book-j-d-king?_pos=1&_sid=d6a76c02a&_ss=r The Beast of Revelation Book: https://christospublishing.com/products/the-beast-of-revelation-unraveling-the-mystery-j-d-king?_pos=3&_sid=878c439d6&_ss=r J.D. In this episode of Thinking Out Loud, Nathan and Cameron engage in a deep theological discussion on Christian hope in the midst of cultural chaos, political polarization, and a media landscape driven by fear, anger, and spectacle. Drawing on Scripture, church history, Aristotle, C.S. Lewis, and contemporary examples, they challenge the modern tendency to reduce hope to mere optimism and instead recover the biblical vision of hope as a hard, muscular virtue—formed through suffering, discipline, and faithfulness to Christ. As they reflect on current events, true crime culture, discipleship, and virtue formation, Nathan and Cameron argue that Christian hope is not sentimental or naïve, but grounded in the resurrection of Jesus and expressed through perseverance, moral courage, and responsibility in everyday life. This episode is for Christians seeking thoughtful, intellectually serious theology that speaks honestly to the realities of the modern world.DONATE LINK: https://toltogether.com/donate BOOK A SPEAKER: https://toltogether.com/book-a-speakerJOIN TOL CONNECT: https://toltogether.com/tol-connect TOL Connect is an online forum where TOL listeners can continue the conversation begun on the podcast.

Are Christians forbidden from engaging in politics, or is Scripture being selectively weaponized to keep believers silent? In this LIVE FREE special reaction episode, Pastor Josh responds to Rhett & Link's viral commentary on Christianity and politics, breaking down the biblical errors, cultural assumptions, and spiritual forces underneath the argument that Christians should “stay out of power.” This episode draws a clear line between faithful doubt vs. deliberate deception, and explains why political passivity is not a virtue, but a strategy the Bible warns us about. You'll learn: - Why Jesus rejecting Satan's offer was not a rejection of political authority, but of acquiring it the wrong way - The difference between refugees from doubt and apostles of unbelief (Jude 22–23) - Why “My kingdom is not of this world” is commonly misunderstood, and what Jesus actually meant - How secularism turns politics into a substitute religion (and why the state becomes god) - Why voting is not a sacrament, but a moral decision between available options - What it means to be the salt of the earth and how Christians are called to slow decay, not retreat - Why culture didn't become political, the government became theological - How Scripture views power, dominion, and Christ as King of Kings over every sphere

Welcome to Day 2786 of Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me. This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to Wisdom – Theology Thursday – The Unintended Consequences of Replacing Yahweh with “God” Wisdom-Trek Podcast Script - Day 2786 Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps!   I am Guthrie Chamberlain, and we are on Day 2786 of our Trek.   The Purpose of Wisdom-Trek is to create a legacy of wisdom, to seek out discernment and insights, and to boldly grow where few have chosen to grow before. Our current series of Theology Thursday lessons is written by theologian and teacher John Daniels. I have found that his lessons are short, easy to understand, doctrinally sound, and applicable to all who desire to learn more of God's Word. John's lessons can be found on his website   theologyinfive.com.   Today's lesson is titled The Unintended Consequences of Replacing Yahweh with “God”. In the pages of Scripture, the God of Israel reveals Himself by name, Yahweh, a name that marks His identity, His covenant, and His absolute uniqueness among all other spiritual beings. Yet somewhere in the history of Jewish and Christian tradition, this name was quietly replaced. Where once God was named, now He is merely titled. Yahweh became “the LORD.” Eventually, even “the LORD” gave way to “God,” a generic and universal term that can apply to almost any religious conception of the divine. What began as an effort to show reverence or accommodate translation has produced serious theological consequences. The loss of God's name has led to a distorted view of monotheism, erased key distinctions between Yahweh and other spiritual beings, and enabled poor apologetic compromises, such as the claim that “Allah is just the Arabic word for God.” It has also obscured the meaning of the First Commandment and weakened the Church's understanding of its own covenant relationship. This article traces how we got here and why recovering the name Yahweh is essential to restoring biblical clarity. The First Segment is: From Name to Title: How Yahweh Was Replaced. The divine name Yahweh (יהוה), also called the Tetragrammaton, appears over 6,800 times in the Hebrew Bible. In Exodus 3:15, God declares, “This is my name forever, and this is how I am to be remembered in every generation.” Yet despite this, a tradition developed during the Second Temple Period in which Jews refrained from pronouncing the divine name aloud. Instead, they substituted it with Adonai (“Lord”) during public readings. This practice, rooted in caution and reverence, carried over into Greek and Latin translations of the Bible. The Septuagint rendered Yahweh as Kyrios (“Lord”), and the Latin Vulgate followed suit with Dominus. English Bibles later preserved this substitution, using the stylized “LORD” in small caps, often without explaining to readers that a name was being replaced. As Christianity spread into the Gentile world, the name Yahweh virtually disappeared from common use. The God of the Bible came to be referred to simply as “God,” a word that is not a name at all, but a title. And not a unique title either, “God” can refer to any number of deities across religious systems or even to philosophical abstractions. In trying to show reverence or universality, the Church began to erase the very name by which the true God had distinguished Himself. The second segment is: The Problem with “God”: A Category, Not a Character This shift might seem minor, but it represents a profound theological error. In Hebrew, the word elohim is used to...

Rebecca knew just what Craig needed when he lost his job. She knew he felt ashamed that his job performance was a major contributing factor. In other words, he had failed in front of people. The hurried goodbyes and awkward pats on the back actually sort of made Craig feel worse. He threw the small box with his personal belongings in the backseat and drove as fast as he could away from the scene.Giving him some space for a day or so, Rebecca called to check on her friend; she had that wonderful quality of not being overbearing, but also sticking with it.After a couple of weeks, the cloud began to lift, and Craig found not only a new job but a new resolve to do his very best and succeed. Rebecca's example of friendship had been a catalyst in Craig's decision to move on in a positive way.Proverbs 17:17 says, “A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for a time of adversity.”A lot of people will love you when you're winning. Everybody loves a winner. It's fun and, honestly, a little self-serving. We can often live vicariously through a friend who's riding high. But a true friend offers encouragement and love no matter what. Are you that kind of friend?Let's pray.Lord, you are our example. I have long had an interest in both the Keswick movement and the East Africa Revival. Dr Robinson Kariuki Mwangi's doctoral research brings the two together. His book is The Influence of Early Keswick Theology of Sanctification in the Socio-ethical Life of the East African Revival Movement: A Missional Perspective (Langham Academic, 2025). In this episode I frame my questions as an interested observer to allow Dr. Mwangi to explain his findings. The issue is this. Sanctification is an essential part of every Christian life. But how do its differing theologies shape our Christian walk and wider socio-ethic contexts? Grounded in the East Africa Revival Movement (EARM), this work seeks to answer how the Keswick theology of sanctification contributes to the socio-ethical understanding of "walking in the light" and consequently influences the mission of the Anglican Church in the Mount Kenya region. Dr. Mwangi uses exegetical analysis to understand the biblical roots of revival and sociological surveys and focus groups to understand how adherents of revival have developed in this region of Kenya. Scholars of theology and lived Christianity will find the observations in this work informative for further study. Learn more about your ad choices. God first, always. They cover flags in church, fear-based politics, and the quiet shift from “this is my conviction” to “the state should enforce my conviction.” Craig urges us to stop outsourcing love to Caesar and get back to simple, neighbor-first faith that looks like the Sermon on the Mount. If you feel the tug between cross and country, this conversation gives language, laughter, and a clean path forward, to put Jesus over team, platform, and flag. In this podcast, Dr. Chris Lohrstorfer joins me to unpack a frequent misunderstanding in Wesleyan theology: the idea that we simply “have a free will” in the doctrine of salvation.John Wesley and the Methodist tradition do affirm human responsibility and the ability to respond to God—but not through an inherent, independent free will untouched by sin. Instead, Wesley emphasized that sin binds the human will, rendering us unable to turn to God on our own. This is where prevenient grace comes in: God's initiating, enabling grace that goes before us, restoring a measure of freedom so we can graciously respond to His work in Christ.Chris and I walk through this doctrine carefully, aiming to bring clarity to what it truly means to have a grace-enabled response to God's actions on our behalf through the person of Jesus. We address the common error of overemphasizing “free will” without anchoring it in divine grace, and explore how this fits into the broader Wesleyan understanding of salvation.Whether you're exploring Arminian theology, wrestling with questions of predestination and choice, or simply want a clearer picture of Methodist beliefs on freedom and grace, this episode offers thoughtful, biblically grounded insight.I think you'll enjoy this one—tune in for a clarifying discussion on one of the most debated topics in soteriology!Youtube - https://youtu.be/WkN-wqTUTcEAudio - https://andymilleriii.com/media/podcastApple -  https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/more-to-the-story-with-dr-andy-miller/id1569988895?uo=4If you are interested in learning more about my two full-length video-accompanied courses, Contender: Going Deeper in the Book of Jude andHeaven and Other Destinations: A Biblical Journey Beyond this World , visit andymilleriii.com/coursesAnd don't forget about my most recent book, Contender, which is available on Amazon! Five Steps to Deeper Teaching and Preaching - Recently, I updated this PDF document and added a 45-minute teaching video with slides, explaining this tool. Episode 240 The 167 Podcast - When Fiction Became Theology How Left Behind Changed How We Read Revelation

For many American Christians, the book of Revelation didn't first come from careful Bible study — it came through a story. Dramatic disappearances. Global chaos. A world spiraling toward judgment. For an entire generation, the end of the world had a plotline, characters, and a clear timeline — and without realizing it, fiction slowly became theology. In this episode, we explore how modern end-times storytelling didn't just reflect Christian beliefs… it reshaped them. We look at how one particular theological system rose to cultural dominance, why many believers assume it's the “historic Christian view,” and how that assumption dramatically changed the way Revelation is read in churches today. We'll talk about: • How Revelation shifted from a pastoral letter to a prediction chart • Why fear became the dominant emotion in end-times teaching • How Jesus often moved from the center while the Antichrist took the spotlight • What the early church, historic Christianity, and the Wesleyan tradition actually emphasize • Why Revelation is less about escaping the world and more about faithful allegiance within it Revelation was not given to satisfy our curiosity about the future — it was given to shape our character in the present. Before beasts, timelines, and speculation, there is a throne. Before destruction, there is renewal. Before fear, there is the Lamb. Maybe the most faithful thing we can do today is learn to read Revelation again — not as a code to crack, but as a call to courageous, steady faithfulness to Jesus.

Daniel, the intern, has been serving behind the scenes of Salty Believer Unscripted. We're not really sure what a podcast intern does, but Salty Believer Unscripted has had a long, wonderful line of interns. As we do our part to help raise up the next generation of ministers, we have an intern, and sometimes we challenge said intern to do things beyond their comfort zone. Therefore, this is a special intern episode. In this episode, Daniel the Intern tells us about his premium, Schuyler Bible, and his daily reading disciplines. Copyright 2026. Welcome to the Influence Podcast! I'm George P. Wood, executive editor of Influence magazine and your host. "The founders of the Assemblies of God believed they were experiencing a significant historical moment," writes Daniel Isgrigg. "They recognized God was moving by His Spirit to enable them to evangelize the world. Leaders were set apart by their understanding that this mission could not be accomplished without the Spirit and without each other." In this episode, I talk to Daniel Isgrigg about his new book, The Assemblies of God: Our Story, from which this quotation comes. Isgrigg is associate professor of the History of Spirit-empowered Christianity at Oral Roberts University and an ordained Assemblies of God minister. He is also author of Imagining the Future: The Origin, Development, and Future of Assemblies of God Eschatology and Aspects of Assemblies of God Origins. I interviewed him about these books in Episodes 277 and 359, respectively. My conversation with Daniel Isgrigg begins after a brief word from our sponsor.   SponsorThis episode of the Influence Podcast is brought to you by Gospel Publishing House, publishers of A Disciple's Growth: 7 Dimensions of Spiritual Formation. In Matthew 7:21-23, Jesus addresses the dangers of false Christianity. He confronts the people who say to him "Lord, Lord" but do not live in obedience to the Father. He makes clear that not everyone who says (and even sincerely believes) that they are a Christian will go to heaven. Rather, Jesus says that there will be "many" who thought themselves to be saved, who thought themselves to be right with God, but on the final day he will say to them, "Depart from me, you workers of lawlessness, I never knew you."For this reason, this passage is extremely important to help us understand what it really does and does not mean to be a Christian. It is crucial to help us understand if our profession of Jesus as Lord is a genuine profession.
