Dad Bod Rap Pod is back with a double dose of interviews. We kick off this week's show with some thoughts on the passing of the legendary music producer and raconteur Quincy Jones. Then we have an interview with Prince Po, one half of the almighty Organized Konfusion. We had a chance to interview Pharoahe Monch a few years back, and we have been looking forward to completing the cypher on this legendary group for some time. Po was kind enough to join us for a conversation, and we discussed his influences, the changes between albums that led to the making of the legendary Stress: The Extinction Agenda, as well as his ties to our hometown of San Jose. On the back half of the program we have a chat with friends of the program Fat Tony and Fatboi Sharif, who recently released a project with Steel Tipped Dove called Brain Candy. We get into how these underground stalwarts originally connected, the importance of in-person recording, and more. Please note that this episode was recorded before we knew the results of the election. Like many of you, we are trying to make sense of the dark reality of this political moment. Hopefully our show can help provide a moment of solace in these trying times. DBRP is hosted by Demone Carter, David Ma, and Nate LeBlanc. Theme song produced by Cutso and DEM ONE. Brought to you by Stony Island Audio.

You know, the usual - mix show on Tuesday, all new joints, Meeks and Doe talking trash, and then an interview session to follow on Thursday. However, the universe had something different in mind. These two legends were originally scheduled to be on the mix show this week to talk about “AGAINST ALL ODDS,” their new project with DA ODD COUPLE (ROB SWIFT & MISTA SINISTA of the X-ECUTIONERS) and keep it moving - but this thing turned into a TWO AND HALF HOUR history lesson. We let the tape roll and said forget all the new rap this week, this conversation is too important to stop. No cap, as the young folks say - this is foundation / architect / cornerstone type content, Vangardians. Guest O.C D.I.T,C Member - Omar Credle (born May 13, 1971), better known by his stage name, O.C., is an American rapper and member of the group D.I.T.C., who has been involved with several renowned underground hip hop groups: Crooklyn Dodgers '95, Luv NY, Perestroika. Recording career.Omar was born in Brooklyn, May 13, 1971,[1] and raised in the Bushwick section. O.C. cites legends like Kool G. Rap, Rakim, Big Daddy Kane and Slick Rick as his main influences.[2] In 1991, he made his recording debut on Organized Konfusion's "Fudge Pudge",.[1] One year later he made an appearance on the remix of MC Serch's "Back to the Grill" (which also features a very young Nas) after meeting Serch on the inaugural Source tour. Following the tour, O.C. signed with Wild Pitch Records in 1994 where Serch was vice president.[2] O.C. also met Lord Finesse and Buckwild on the first Source tour, marking his introduction to the D.I.T.C crew. After the tour he connected with Buckwild and started recording a demo that would become his debut album Word...Life.[2]By 1994, he finished the album Word...Life, which included everything from his demo, along with "Time's Up," the song that would go on to be his most notable single. "Time's up" was initially a record for Pharoahe Monch from Organized Konfusion.[2] Beyond a quick outro from Prince Po, Word...Life does not have any guest appearances. This was not by design, however, as Nas was supposed to be on the album but never showed up to the studio for the recording session.[2] The album was critically acclaimed and remains beloved in hip-hop circles. In 1996, Credle appeared on the Red Hot Organization's compilation CD, America is Dying Slowly, alongside Biz Markie, Wu-Tang Clan, and Fat Joe, among many other prominent hip hop artists. The CD, meant to raise awareness of the AIDS epidemic among African American men, was heralded as "a masterpiece" by The Source magazine. In 1997, O.C. signed to Pay Day Records,[1] where he released his second album Jewelz, featuring collaborations with DJ Premier, Da Beatminerz and Freddie Foxxx. The single "Far From Yours" peaked at #81 on the Billboard Hot 100, making it his highest charting single to date. By this time, he was a part of the underground hip hop act known as Diggin' in The Crates together with Lord Finesse, Fat Joe, Showbiz & A.G., Diamond D, Buckwild and Big L. In 2000 the crew released their self-titled debut album through Tommy Boy Records on which O.C. featured on the majority of the songs. In 1998, O.C. was featured on Pete Rock's "Respect Mine" from Pete Rock's 1998 solo debut album Soul Survivor. The 2001 release of Bon Appetit was met with very mixed reviews; the negative accused O.C. of selling out with a polished, shining and toned-down sound. This was although Buckwild produced the large bulk of the album with the only help coming from Lord Finesse and Ahmed (pretty much the same formula that made Word...Lifea success). After the disappointing release O.C. disappeared from the scene until 2005, when he released his fourth album with Grit Records; Starchild which only dropped as a very limited Japanese/European import and was met with great acclaim. Later that year, he signed with Hieroglyphics Imperium Recordings and teamed up with Bronx-native producer Mike Loe, and dropped Smoke and Mirrors.O.C. is also known for his feature on the Clockers soundtrack as part of the Crooklyn Dodgers, which also featured rappers Chubb Rock and Jeru the Damaja on the now classic DJ Premier produced "Return of the Crooklyn Dodgers". This is however the only time the group has ever collaborated.O.C. collaborated with fellow D.I.T.C. member A.G. for an album entitled Oasis. The bulk of the album was produced by French beatsmith E-Blaze with additional tracks supplied by Lord Finesse, Statik Selektah and Showbiz who also acts as the executive producer of the album. May 2012 saw the release of a new collaborative album with Detroit-based producer Apollo Brown entitled Trophies on the Mello Music Group label. The first single was "Prove Me Wrong". The vinyl version of that album has also been repressed several times over. With Ray West in 2014 O.C. has curated a more laid back and purposefully smooth affair. Besides flowing freely from track-to-track with the help of atmospheric interludes, Ray's Cafe is noticeably and gratifyingly short at nine tracks long as well. Ray's Cafe was released on Red Apples 45, a small label co-founded by A.G. and West. O.C. joined D.I.T.C. for their 2016 release Sessions which was preceded by the lead single "Rock Shyt" See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

Kriswontwo udgav sidste år sit andet fuldlængde producer album Back To One. BANG! @southernvangard #radio #interview #session with Prince Po from Organized Konfusion! Doe, Meeks and Po go through the early days of hip-hop in Queens and the seminal High School of Art & Design that he and countless other hip-hop legends attended. In addition to Kwame and Mobb Deep running through the halls, this is where Po and Monch connected, and eventually led way to Simply II Positive AKA Organized Konfusion. We get into a some great Paul C & Dave "Funken” Klein stories, riding on the train with Nas after the “Live at the Barbecue” session, the move to Priority for the “Stress” LP and why “The Equinox” is Po’s favorite OK album. Po breaks down the who, what, where and why around OK as a group being put on hold, welcoming the break from the music life and Monch’s move into being a solo artist. Of course we dive into Po’s solo career in the early 20002, his collaborations with Dangermouse, Gemini, MF DOOM & Madlib, and his more recent collab with Oh No and what’s in store for Po and Ice Bearz in 2015 - a DOECINO and Prince Po collab, you say? Clippers, the Ku Klux Klan trying to rebrand itself and more) along with some other things here & there. Filled with his signature remorseless energy and powerful wit, the independent monster talks of show routines, determining which songs to perform, familiarising himself with traditions of his host crowds outside America, aspirations of performing in the UK,  his lyric "Now I got Swedish women yellin' "Tech N9NE svelte!" off Sway & King Tech's classic The Anthem, visiting Jim Morrison's grave in Paris, a future tour called Lost In The Dark, which will see him exclusively perform his darker material, celebrity fans including his recent encounter with Danny Glover and his delight at seeing such faces such as Nick Cassavetess (director of Alpha Dog) Suge Knight, Twista, Ice-T, Nas, B-Real, Damien Marley, KRS-One and Pharoahe Monch in his crowds at live shows. In addition, Tech reveals an upcoming collaboration with The Doors, as well as plans of working with Nas, Jay-Z, Kanye West and Nelly on his next album and more! All fans of driven hip hop artists should be sure to listen to this epic interview in it’s entirety. Recent XXL Freshman, Hopsin joins us to promote and discuss his forthcoming album Knock Madness, his disappointment at the low level of quality amongst the recent fellow Freshmen featured artists (Macklemore and Danny Brown aside) and much more in Hopsin’s first ever interview with CWR. No longer harbouring a darkened heart, the man with the white eyes talks his new found responsibility as an artist, goals to change lives with his music and his forthcoming album's competition, citing 3 albums, namely The Marshall Mathers LP, 2001 and Get Rich Or Die Trying as benchmarks for its quality. He also reflects upon his experience with Ruthless Records, Tech N9ne and more in an essential listen! Is he a psyhco?! Gore Elohim (formerly Goretex) crash lands into our studio on a stolen Spacecraft with a message. The message? His long awaited and oft-delayed sophomore release, Electric Lucifer, will finally see its release on 28th May, invading digital outlets and stores everywhere! Filled with anticipation for this event, we take time to discuss its creation, inspiration and content, of which Gore explains will be Extraterrestrial heavy and futuristic. We also talk its featured contributors, which will see Smoothe Da Hustler providing a verse and Beat Butcha holding down the production for a song. In addition to this, we talk the common misconception that people think Supercoven is his name, but in actuality is his label - PLUS we learn that various side-projects will be released when time permits. The future is now! Fresh from the release of his latest opus, The Next Logical Progression, Gift Of Gab pulls in on a freeway for a three-way conversation, offering a detailed exploration of creating TNLP, revealing a much more direct role in crafting its soundscape, of which includes him humming bass-lines, piano figures and guitar riffs etc. We also talk George Clinton and Martian Luther's contributions as well as the current status of the much anticipated Blackalicious album, which he reveals only 1 song of the 7 songs recorded uses his "humming" approach in its creation, touring overseas, the current state of his health, an upcoming collaboration with Cardiff, UK's Ruffstylz and more! A must hear for fans of Gift Of Gab/Blackalicious!! Motor City mainstay Boldy James is the latest artist to have recently scored a meeting at Jay-Z 's powerhouse Roc-Nation. A rarity in which few artists are blessed to see. Sharing this, among an update on his currently untitled project with Alchemist, we are joined by the bold and cold buzz maker for a brisk but opening interview detailing his come up to his cousin Chuck Inglish (Cool Kids), to his pride in being from the D, plus more, including an exclusive acapella! Detroit city - stand up! Creative Juices’ elastic verbal sword swinger, I Am Many joins us live from the gym to discuss his recently released album Strength In Numbers, including the reasoning behind it’s impressive artwork packaging, the construction of individual tracks and the future of I Am Many. We also are treated to a tantalizing live acapella of gargantuan proportions. More more more. UK royalty SonnyJim joins us to talk about his forever successful career, his deep survival strategies as a British urban artist, his ambitions and future of Eat Good Records, of which will soon see two new releases in the form of projects from Redbeard and Kosyne as well as a potential EP with Ralph Rip Shit and Kosyne. As engaging and insightful as you would expect, SonnyJim breaks down his forthcoming material, which includes feature appearances from the likes of Prince Po, J-Zone, Shabaam Sahdeeq, Ugly Ducking (2 songs) and more! In addition, we get an update on the status of the upcoming Bong Proof video and more in a classic interview with a success! AND THAT’S NOT ALL! Their catalog consists of 5 albums with a couple of solo projects by Tash and J-Ro respectively. Tha Alkaholiks' emcee Tash calls in to talk about the formation of the Likwit Crew, studio sessions with Ol' Dirty Bastard and current tours. On this colossal six hour triumph we have: Pharoahe Monch is in high spirits as we discuss his new album, the government's war upon us all, free masons, Illuminati and his recent reunion with Prince Po to regroup Organized Konfusion. A huge interview with one of hip hop's most enquiring minds. Slaughterhouse's Joe Budden is with us to address all of his recent issues and problems including signing to Eminem's Shady Records, the lack of importance of the Wu Tang Clan, his 6 page Wu diss record that he will never release, his break up and so much more in a truly emotional riverboat journey through the life of hip hop's most colorful man. Kool Keith is as personal as you will ever hear for an enlightening 30 minute tap dance through his opinions on the industry, Kayne West, secret societies, Russians, shoes and of course his new record Bikinis and Thongs. Fans will love this. Brother Ali takes time off stage whilst on tour to deliver a typically meaningful and heart-felt interview regarding the concept of 'Us'. We push Ali to not only talk about unity and the personnel that makes 'Us' but also the more risky topic of 'Them'. You will appreciate his album more after hearing this. Mark Curry, ex-Bad Boy artist and author of the book 'Dancing With The Devil' comes onto the show and gives us all a chilling account of life with P Diddy, explaining fully why he considers him to be an evil and a puppet for much darker forces. "That Lucifer isn't such a nice guy" he muses, as we tackle free masons in hip hop and their hold over our culture. Listen to this for your own safety. No Limit Records mogul Fiend, slinks into the studio to reveal all about life at No Limit, including studio sessions and facts never discussed until now. Chase Infinite pounces out on us to talk Soul Assassins, DJ Khalil, government intervention in hip hop and much more in a very lively and exciting interview piece. AND THAT'S NOT ALL!
