#22 The Power of Talking Yourself Into Things Instead of Out of Them

Get Unstuck with Murielle Marie

Welcome to a new episode of the "Get Unstuck" podcast, where we explore the limitless potential available to us and how to reach it. I'm your host Murielle Marie, and today, we're going to delve into a fascinating topic: the power of talking ourselves into things instead of talking ourselves out of them. So often, we find ourselves hesitating, doubting, and giving in to negative self-talk. But by shifting our mindset and embracing a positive self-narrative, we can unlock our true potential and achieve remarkable things. I've witnessed it in my life many times, and I see it in my coaching practice every day. That's why I wanted to share about it in this episode. There is just so much to be gained from focusing on the positive instead of the negative. It's truly life-changing.  Let me start by sharing a personal story. When I decided to become a coach back in 2014 (I know that's almost a decade ago, and I cannot believe it!), one of the things I had to do in order to get “the word out there” about my new career and work, was to start a blog. If you've listened to this podcast before, you might know that I'm a writer, currently finishing her second book - titled, tada - “Get Unstuck!”. By the way, I'll add a link to a sign-up form on my website if you're interested to know when the book comes out next month. So I write, and I love it - at least non-fiction. Fiction, which I'm also doing through the writing academy here in Antwerp, is a whole different thing. And something that still humbles me more than it enchants me, as I work to try and get a thriller about generational trauma on to paper. Anyway, back to the blog.  When I first decided to start it, now almost 10 years ago, I couldn't get a word onto paper. I spoke about this more in a previous episode of this podcast, especially about how it felt like I was battling a life-long writer's block. The reason for it was: self-doubt and perfectionism crept in. So much so that I initially talked myself out of it, fearing failure and criticism. Luckily, I had a great coach at the time - my first one. Kate, this is a shout-out to you! I love you! She helped me see what was truly going on, and eventually got me writing. One of the things that helped the most was to shift the negative  self-talk around failure and criticism to positive self-talk about what the blog could mean for my business and my potential and future readers. When I think back on those first blog posts and how hard it was for me to write them, I can't imagine even having felt that way. I still publish a new article on my blog and write a newsletter every other week. I write books, social media posts and so much more. It comes naturally to me now. I sometimes wonder what would have happened if I'd allowed myself to buy into the negative self-talk. Would I have the business I have today? Would I even be speaking to you through this podcast right now? I don't think so. Negative self-talk can be incredibly detrimental. It plants seeds of doubt, limits our beliefs, and hinders - or sometimes even stops - our progress. Have you ever found yourself talking yourself out of something, only to regret it later? Perhaps it was a chance to pursue a new career path, start a business, or even ask someone out on a date. If you have, it's time to change that narrative. The reality is: we all suffer from this. Every day in my work and my private life I am confronted with negative self-talk, doubts, insecurities, impostor syndrome. Just a few days ago, one of my strongest and most inspiring clients sent me a message telling me she was just a few inches away from throwing away all of the hard work she had done for her upcoming book. “I'm a failure, why would anyone want to read what I have to say, who am I to believe that I can offer something to the world, that my story matters?” This is someone who is incredible: smart, capable, resilient, funny, compassionate, strong… I mean, I really love her so much. She's an inspiration in my life. And still, even someone as strong and badass as her, feels like shit sometimes. That's what negative self-talk will do to you.  In fact, most (if not all) successful people have faced self-doubt at some point in their lives. But they chose to talk themselves into their goals and aspirations instead.  Take Van Gogh, the famous french sunflower painter. He only sold one (one!) painting during his life. Even though he produced over 900 paintings over his lifetime, only “Red Vineyard at Arles” was sold while he was alive. Or think about Michael Jordan, the athlete and basketball player that led the Chicago Bulls to championship victory six times. He was dropped from the basketball team in high school. If he had let negative self-talk get the better of him, would we even know his name? Jordan isn't shy about failure either (the subject of last week's episode); he says he owes his success to all the missed shots he took during relentless practices – another life lesson he often shares. “I have failed over and over and over again in my life,” he said, “and that is why I succeed.” Recognizing the impact of negative self-talk is the first step towards transforming our mindset. By becoming aware of the moments when we talk ourselves out of things, we can consciously choose to talk ourselves into possibilities, growth, and success. Ok, enough about the negative stuff. What exactly is positive self-talk? And how can you start choosing it over talking yourself down? The essence of it is the practice of consciously choosing positive, empowering thoughts and affirmations to shape your mindset. Research has shown that positive self-talk can boost confidence, enhance performance, and improve overall well-being. So positive self-talk not only affects your mental state but also influences your physical and emotional well-being. When we talk ourselves into things, we activate the reward centers in our brains, releasing dopamine, a feel-good neurotransmitter. This surge of positivity fuels motivation, resilience, and a greater belief in our abilities. Which, in turn, makes it easier to say positive things to ourselves in the future. I talked about Van Gogh and Michael Jordan, but what about Thomas Edison. This is a famous story, so you might know it. It's famous for a reason. It's one of the most striking examples of resilience. Edison, even though failing thousands of times in his quest to invent the electric light bulb, continued to foster a positive mindset, saying, "I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that this won't work." It was this unwavering belief in himself that eventually led to his success. Someone else that really inspires me to talk more positively to myself and about my goals is Sir Richard Branson. I wear a necklace that says “fuckit” (link in the show notes if you want yours, it's available on my website) and that's a tribute to his “screw it, let's do it” attitude - and his book by the same title that I highly recommend and will link in the show notes! That “fuckit” attitude is my way of pushing back on negative self-talk. Whenever my brain goes to all the reasons why something isn't going to work or why I'm a big failure that will never make it and is about to be found it, saying “fuck it” to that voice really helps me to remember none of that is true. It's important to remember this because if you don't, that negative self-talk will get and keep you stuck! Positive self-talk rewires our brains, enabling us to see opportunities instead of obstacles. It empowers us to step outside our comfort zones, to take risks, and pursue our dreams with tenacity (one of the most beautiful words in the English language if you ask me and such a great virtue to cultivate!). By embracing positive self-talk, we can tap into our inner strength and unlock the incredible potential that is within us. So, the next time self-doubt creeps in, remember the power of talking yourself into things instead of out of them. Instead of saying, "I can't do it," remind yourself, "I can learn and improve." "I'm not good enough," remind yourself, "I have the ability to grow and overcome my limitations." The one that I love the most - and that I use daily - is this one: “of course I can, why couldn't I?! It's my go to whenever I worry about what I want to do, and it gives me just that little push I need not to think it over but to do it instead! Ok, now that we understand the power of positive self-talk, let's explore some practical tips to help you cultivate this empowering habit. These are things that have worked for me (with varying success because, hey, #life) and for many of my clients.  First, it's important to recognize when you're talking negatively to yourself. What are your patterns? Pay attention to the voice inside your head. When is it showing up, to say what? Ask yourself, "Is this thought based on facts or my own fears? What evidence do I have that supports my capabilities?" By questioning these negative thoughts and reminding yourself of your past accomplishments, you can replace them with positive ones. Second, daily affirmations and positive visualization can be incredibly effective. I have a little notebook that I read through every morning. I usually start a new one every few years. This one is from 2021. It has my life and career goals written in it, mantras, positive affirmations, prompts to meditate on every day and a few quotes that I want to remind myself of. Every day, with my morning coffee, I take a few moments to read through it and to repeat positive statements about myself, my abilities, and my goals.  Visualizing yourself successfully achieving what you desire, and letting that image fuel your motivation really works. And it doesn't cost you anything. So there's really no excuse not to do it! Third, surround yourself with a supportive network. I cannot stress enough how important it is to have people in your life. You can share your insecurities and truth with. The more authentic you can be with someone else, the more growth you can achieve. Look for encouragement from those who believe in you and your dreams, and who know how shitty it can be to feel the fear and do it anyway. Remember: EVERYONE feels that way! I do too! Just today I wanted to go and hide under a rock at least three times while thinking about the new start-up I'm building, the changes I'm going to make in my coaching business, and my new book which will be out in about six weeks…  Having friends, partners and colleagues around you who are positive and believe in your abilities can be a powerful source of inspiration and motivation. I know this really works for me. When I know there's someone besides me that I can lean on and that understands and can help, there truly is no limit to what I believe is possible. Don't be afraid to share your goals and aspirations with the people closest to you, trusted friends, mentors, or a support group who can offer guidance and encouragement along the way. Finally, remember that self-talk is a habit that requires consistent practice. All good things are hard to some degree, but that shouldn't stop us from doing them. Good things also require patience, so give yourself grace and time as you develop this new mindset. It's normal to experience moments of self-doubt, but by consciously choosing positive self-talk, you can gradually rewire your thoughts and beliefs. Over time, talking yourself into things will become second nature, opening up a world of possibilities. You'll see, it's like magic!  --- Before you go, I want to leave you with this message: embrace the power of talking yourself into things. Negative thoughts and self-talk are just that: talk. They're words, and often not your own. Don't believe everything you think, and certainly not the crappy stuff you tell yourself. You are the leader of your life, and that includes your thoughts. By choosing positive and reaffirming thoughts, you can unlock your true potential and completely transform your reality. I'm a living testament to it, and so many others are too! Just remember that every great accomplishment starts with believing in yourself! Here's this week's "f*ck it, let's do it" experiment: my invitation this week is to practice self-empowerment from the inside out by changing the way you speak to yourself. Every time you catch yourself thinking something negative, hit the pause button and reframe those thoughts into positive and empowering ones. For example, if you're thinking, "I'm not good enough," or “this will never work” flip the script and say, "I'm worthy of love, success, and all the good things life has to offer." If you catch yourself saying, "I can't do this," switch it up and proudly state to yourself, "I am capable, and I have the strength and resilience to overcome any challenge." If you want to dive a little deeper, here's an act of daily rebellion for you. Embrace the power of positive affirmations. Choose one affirmation each day that directly counters a negative thought or self-doubt you often think. Repeat this affirmation to yourself throughout the day. Remember, the journey of transformation you're on takes practice and patience. Don't give up on the first few tries. Keep at it, and it will work for you! I promise! I am the Vocab Man. And this time we go over a very funny and cool expression. Not my circus, not my monkeys. And it actually came from Poland (originally). But. These days especially in the UK, people are using it in English too. So I had a conversation with Sadie and she is the host of an excellent podcast called Accentricity and it's all about accents and languages. So I recommend you to take a listen. But now let's see what Sadie tells us about her favorite expression. https://www.accentricity-podcast.com/ Yeah, so my favorite expression, I mean, I've got, I've got loads. But I was thinking about this beforehand and there's a Polish expression that I really like, which is I've heard it being used in English a bit more recently. So it's I hope I'm pronouncing it right. I'm probably not, but *in Polish* "Nie moj cyrk, nie moje malpy". And it means not my circus, not my monkey. And it came to mean something along the lines of, if there is a big fuss, a big mess, lots of chaos going on but it's nothing to do if you, you want to distance yourself fromit's not your problem. Not my problem, not my problem, not my circus, not my monkey. So in Polish, it's not my circus, not my monkey. And then when I've heard it in English, people usually say, not my circus, not my monkeys, so plural . But I quite like that, especially because I think there's often a lot of focus of the influence that English has on other languages and less so the influence of other languages coming in into English. And I imagine the fact I've heard this expression a lot in English recently has to do with people from Poland moving to the UK quite a lot. Andkind of that being passed over. Yeah.So I wanted to share it because of that reason I quite, I quite like it, and I think it's just a great expression as well.Isn't it?Yes.It's very useful. I use it all the time.Cool. Thank you so much, Sadie. Thank you so much. So this was all about the expression, not my circus, not my monkeys. And of course, if you want to listen to the whole interview, which lasts about one hour, so we had an excellent discussion Then I encourage you to head over to my other podcast, which is called My Fluent Podcast. And why did I like this expression as well. It's because, yeah, it has a funny connotation in a way. And I think that even people. Who. hear it for the very first time will understand. What it means. This episode of Live Your Dreams Awake is going to be very interesting since Patricia's guest is Michelle Keane, an interior designer who has very strong connections to angels and her ancestor guides.  She discovered healing water from the Skellig Michael at Skellig Islands, which is now a UNESCO Heritage Site. She was then guided where to dig seven wells from her 2 acre land. What is  fascinating is that the water from those wells contains 66 minerals, very similar to the water from the Lourdes. Listen till the end of this episode to hear more of  Michelle's visions and some interesting personalities who are her spirit guides.   REMEMBER - "Everyone has this power within." This week's tip is to place a shiny metal surface behind your stove or a mirror. By placing one of these things for example, a mirror behind your stove is actually doubling the prosperity in your home because your stove represents prosperity. This will also give you the opportunity to be able to see what's going on behind you so that you're in a strong powerful position when you are cooking. HIGHLIGHTS OF WHAT WE COVER DURING THIS EPISODE: Michelle Keane's introduction of self and how she discovered sacred well from St. Michael's County of Kerry, Ireland. The well at the Skellig Islands, a UNESCO Heritage Site. Who was channelling for Michelle? (... Steve Jobs is one of her spirit guides.)   Michelle's trip to Himalayas, India. The digging of seven wells in her 2 acre land. Michelle and Patricia encounter Dr. Masaru Emoto, who does remarkable work with water crystals. How does Michelle connect with her guides? Patricia's story about her visit to her grandmother's grave. Jon joins Scott to reflect on the topics we've covered this season and lessons learned from his own marriage. 1. Marriage and parenting teach us a ton. But especially help us grow to be selfless in a way nothing else can. Why do you think this is true? How have you experienced this kind of transformation in your life? 2. Marriage is a visible demonstration of the love of God for people. Marriage apart from the picture of Christ and His bride isn’t going to find fulfillment. How can we intentionally pursue this biblical picture of marriage? 3. Which of Jon’s tips for building a strong marriage have been helpful to you? Which do you want or need to pursue? Take your time and learn from older couples. Pray a lot. Serve together. Invest in the church. Be realistic with financial expectations. Work on conflict resolution. Invest in relationships with a few other couples. 4. What is it about sharing a meal together with the people we love that transforms us? How does it build your family’s relationships? What is accomplished by sharing this space? 5. In the Bible, the Book of Psalms is like a medicine cabinet. If you need words to express your emotion or feeling, you can find it there. Share how God’s words have helped you express emotions, whether they’ve been painful or joy-filled. What are you walking through in this season that could use help from the Psalms to express in words? 6. God chose us. Handpicked us. Adopted us into His family. Adoption is a theme in the NT. If God did that for us, He’d want that for all of us. How can churches help even more families adopt? How could you help personally, financially and otherwise? 7. Considering divorce? Apologize. Forgive. Own what you did. Give it time. Build and rebuild trust. You may have biblical grounds for divorce, but you’re not required to take this step. Where can you reach out for help? 8. Remember: Everyone in your family is going to die eventually. Prepare as you’re able but it’s never going to be easy. The marriage vow, “In sickness and in health,” reminds us to enjoy what we have today. How can you actively and verbally express your gratitude for the people in your life today? 9. Resilience is something this world needs; the ability to stand in the face of sickness, difficulty, loss. Two are better than one; two becoming one. There’s a strength and joy infused into your life when two people are faithful to Him and to each other. Take time to craft a clear statement of your intent to be faithful… in your marriage, friendships, parenting, work… everywhere. Share with your group via email this week.

Hello, sweet summer children!Unfortunately, Nathaniel is out this week on emergency medical leave (don't worry, he's alright), so we're releasing an episode that was previously buried in the archive of recorded but unreleased episodes from when we were getting started with our work on the show. In this episode, we deep dive into "Aim and Ignite" by the baroque-pop band fun.. We chat about the album's themes, its most poignant lyricism, and what songs we like best. fun. rose to international fame after the release of their second studio album, "Some Nights" (2012). The band has been on hiatus since the end of the tour surrounding the release of "Some Nights". Both "Aim and Ignite" and "Some Nights" are excellent, emotive, and walk a curious tightrope between blind faith and heartfelt agnosticism. If you're reading this, you should absolutely listen to both albums. Also, we don't say it in the episode, but we're deeply grateful to Katy Davidson and the band Key Losers for allowing us to use their track "Don't Know Why" from the album "California Lite". This song bumpers our show, and without it, our voices would be hollow, empty, and sad. There's a few oddities in this episode that come from its divorce from other segments of the show that are presently unreleased. Don't be upset; relish in the mystery. We're sure you'll hear those pieces later. Thanks for listening. Remember: Everyone like bad things. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

2 Corinthians 12:9 9 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. I used to think that being a Christian meant perfection was the goal and admitting that you failed daily in some way meant just that, you were a failure in the eyes of Jesus. As if the entire day or effort didn’t matter because you failed at one thing. Have you ever been apart of a group of friends or click that boasted of their perfect lives and perfect faith and perfect kids or whatnot but they never really spoke on their mistakes or their humanity or in other words reality? Well, I have and when I was young in the faith I found myself in a group of people like this. They painted a false picture of true Christianity and faith That I couldn’t live up to. The Word says God Grace is sufficient for us and HIS power is made perfect in our weakness. Let’s be real, we are human and we fall short daily but we aren’t supposed to rely on ourselves to get it right all the time anyway. We are supposed to rely on GOD! There are so many times in the bible where Jesus encountered someone that sinned and had an ailment that needed healing he healed them and told them to go and sin no more. He displayed a heart of forgiveness toward them. Ok, so let’s talk about perfect timing and perfectionism. Perfectionism- a person who refuses to accept any standard short of perfection. There was a moment in time I, which was more recent than I’d like to admit, I wanted to wait on releasing music because I figured hey let me wait until I can be more fluent before I do that or let me wait until I could sing these notes perfectly because if someone hears me stutter once or sing-off pitch its over for me. I mean yes, of course, you want to make sure what you put out in the world is acceptable. BUT I was going for perfection? Tuh! The truth of the matter is If you’re waiting on perfection nothing will ever get done. So, I want to encourage you, while you’re looking at everyone else’s highlight reel on social media. Remember EVERYONE has days where they fall short and miss the mark. God isn’t going to banish you to hell because He knows your humanity. Rely on Him and He can strengthen you. And another thing if you were like me and waiting on “perfect Conditions” just know nothing and no one is perfect. Be obedient and go for that thing that is in your heart that the Lord is tugging on you to do. Even if you feel you aren’t fully equipped Embrace this growth journey. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/lashanda-lewis/support

Finance & Fury Podcast
Is it okay to be white, or not?

Finance & Fury Podcast

Play Episode Listen Later Oct 25, 2018 26:04

Going to say it: Might be controversial – ‘But is it okay to be white’? If you have seen - Pauline Hanson proposed an "It's OK to be white" motion in the Australian "Deplorable rise of anti-white racism and attacks on Western civilization".  It was defeated 31-28 by opponents who called it a racist slogan from the white supremacist movement. Today I want to go through this in detail and look at the longer-term economic impacts – and it will have to do less with race than you think. Where does the story of neo-Nazis being behind this come from?   Media claims it is from David Lane – American Neo-Nazi – Said to come from his “14 words” statement ‘We must secure the existence of our people and a future for white children.’ I did a fair amount of reading on his other work and couldn’t find anywhere ‘it’s okay to be white’ The “14 words” statement is clearly not the same thing So, where does it come from? It's OK to be white (IOTBW) is a slogan from 4chan in 2017 – self-proclaimed ‘shit posters’ They did it as a "proof of concept" that a "harmless message" would cause a "massive media shit storm" Did they succeed? I’d say they did succeed as it is not a statement oppressing any group of people. It proves racism in the media Why is it not okay to say it? A narrative has formed. It is easy to label someone as something – they can defend that they’re not. You can’t prove a negative – If someone says you are racist, sexist, or a homophobe it’s impossible. For example – if someone calls me a homophobe how would I prove I’m not? Two of my best friends are dudes who are married to each other. When you’re on the defensive though, it can just dig a further hole Social System is made up of Socio-Cultural, Economic, and Governmental systems, each interacting with one another.   Socio-cultural A sociocultural system is a "human population viewed in its ecological context and as one of the many subsystems of a larger ecological system". The term "sociocultural system" embraces three concepts: society, culture, and system. Media, Hollywood and narrative, “Evil, white men” For example, I have seen many Arnold, Stallone, etc action movies ... the terrorists in them are always white. Not wanting to offend leads to “political correctness” (PC) PC can lead to society breaking down In response to this an opinion piece satirising how hard it is to be a white man – by a white man Richard Glover - SMH It's not only Senator Hanson. The whole Parliament has long realised there's a role for positive discrimination: rules designed to give "a hand up" to those who are doing it tough. In our case: the negative gearing laws, the capital gains discount, the franking credit system, the family trust laws and the salary-sacrifice provisions within Australian superannuation. Some say, "where's the fairness in a program that can only be accessed by one segment of society", but that's to ignore the special problems faced by people who are right here, living among you. Frankly, if you didn't grow up white and rich, it's hard to understand. You may have to check your lack of privilege. What he is doing, is associating white with wealth – Why? Well, we will come back to this I have a theory on why this might be occurring – well not mine, but Robert Johnson who analysed Jung Conscious - the ego represents the conscious mind as it comprises the thoughts, memories, and emotions a person is aware of. The ego is largely responsible for feelings of identity and continuity. Subconscious Personal unconsciousis essentially the same as Freud’s version of the unconscious. The personal unconscious contains temporality forgotten information and well as repressed memories Collective (or transpersonal) unconscious. According to Jung, the human mind has innate characteristics “imprinted” on it as a result of evolution. Examples - Fear of the dark, or of snakes and spiders might be examples, and it is interesting that this idea has recently been revived in the theory of prepared conditioning. Why we resonate to a good story – “The Hero’s Journey” where we start off on a journey, overcome the dark, etc. All parts of the personality, as we all have the capacity for evil. When you suppress the collective unconscious, this creates an “Ego Split” When an ego split occurs, you project everything about it on others Rich vs poor – Projection of “having money is bad” Economic Each society needs some system Ancients – Barter system – mostly peasants – couldn’t accumulate much due to moving around Medieval – Coin/markets – settled – this created a nobility and large lower class Today it’s much more complex – No class structure and easier to accumulate resources than ever. Plus, there is a lot more people. This leads to a greater variant of inequality, plus, they actually measure it now for the first time Governmental Government needs legitimacy to operate - Democracy through voting in – So cater to the socio-cultural and you can win Power base – tools of extraction From who do they extract? The ones the socio-culture has demonised “Inequality” gives power – not to the people, but to the government to redistribute wealth as they see fit. Let’s talk about the Government voting on ‘It’s okay to be White’ Why is there such controversy? Especially from the majority of white politicians, and in a majority white country? Socialist takeover 101: Demonise the group you are going to extract from, mobilise the masses and legitimise your authority to extract the resources from those that they’ve demonised. Socialist policy – Makes it okay to take stuff from then if they aren’t human or are “bad” This is what I was talking about last Friday – using some groups and advantaging other groups. Who has done this throughout history? Every socialist government before and during they take over Examples: They each have their own groups who are painted as the enemy Hitler – Germany; Holocaust – 6m dead (National Socialist) Lenin & Stalin – Russia; Bourgeoisie (anyone with money) 20m-60m dead Pal Pot – Cambodia; 2m dead - most of the victims of the Khmer Rouge regime were not ethnic minorities but ethnic Khmer. Professionals, such as doctors, lawyers and teachers, were also targeted. According to Robert D. Kaplan, "eyeglasses were as deadly as the yellow star" as they were seen as a sign of intellectualism. Mao – China; 65m – 75m dead - singled out nine categories of enemies: landlords, rich peasants, counter-revolutionaries, bad elements, rightists, traitors, foreign agents, capitalist and intellectuals. “Across China teachers, former landlords and intellectuals were being humiliated, beaten and murdered. They were hounded by neighbours, colleagues and pupils moved by misguided revolutionary fervour, personal grudges or little more than whim. Many hostile acts were taken by attackers seeking revenge, avenging a grudge or acting out of jealousy. People could make trouble for neighbours they resented for some reason or another by spreading rumours about them. If someone was jealous about another's Flying Pigeon bicycle he could make a few comments about “bourgeois tendencies” to local units of Red Guards All follow a similar playbook… and target group – those “with” something How do you extract things from people…By Force! And by playing on human emotions Guilt – White guilt/privilege Paint a narrative - Privileged – having special rights, advantages, or immunity  It is about shame and guilt People won’t fight back if they think that they shouldn’t keep what they earn Fear – Repercussions Social mobs – getting labelled – online mob hate groups Government – Not paying taxes = Wesley Snipes in the USA Greed – This is what drives people to action as well The extraction comes in the form of taxation – Wealth distribution at first Extreme examples – When socialists come in they just take your physical things too Democracy – Fear or Guilt What can be done to solve this? Simple - don’t back down in fear of being labelled - tool of the mob for conformity in ideas Irony - They want diversity but not diversity of thought Don’t be guilted into thinking differently Avoid self-censorship Remember - Everyone in Australia is privileged Ever been to a 3rd world country? Once you see these countries, you realise that what we have is amazing The poorest people in the world live in regions where there is no means of owning (or protecting) private property. Ironically, socialism is based on removing private property rights. We aren’t monoliths. You shouldn’t be defined by your race. I find it racist (by definition) to prevented from being able to say “It’s okay to be white” It doesn’t matter what skin colour you are, everyone gets hated on and everyone can be the victim What you do defines you, if you are only looking for ways that you are victimised, that is all you will see Be happy with what you have – or if you aren’t, work towards a situation that you will be happy with Personal freedom – Financial independence and working hard to get there More people who can become self-sufficient there is less of the population who would vote to take things away from others Like many mismanaged countries - collapsing on ourselves like a dying star Thanks for listening – Sorry for the tangent - If you have a question or want to know more about any of the topics we discuss, get in touch via our contact page

Born and abandoned. She said, “When I was found by the Ahmednagar police, I was severely malnourished, miasmic, and suffering from dysentery.” An event that's difficult for most, if not all, of us to imagine. An event that first showed Rebekah Mallory what rejection and lack of belonging felt like. But, this wasn't the only time Rebekah experienced rejection and lack of belonging. She said, “I was seven years old… I don't remember what brought it on or what caused it, but one of my friends was making fun of me for being black… One of the first times I was aware that I was being humiliated for being different.” An instance that questioned her identity once again. But, it is an instance like this that made her stronger. An instance that made her realize how we should focus on our similarities rather that our differences. An instance that made Rebekah embrace who she was. Remember: Everyone has a story. Embrace it.
