Smyly struck out nine in five scoreless innings, and the Chicago Cubs beat the Cincinnati Reds 4-2 in Major League Baseball’s second “Field of Dreams” game. Seiya Suzuki reached three times and Nick Madrigal had three hits for Chicago in a throwback ballpark a short walk away from the main field for the 1989 movie. The night began with Hall of Famer Ken Griffey Jr. and his father emerging from the iconic cornstalks to play catch in the outfield, delighting the sellout crowd of 7,823. Guardians 4, Tigers 3 – F/10 – Guardians top Tigers in 10 innings, extend win streak to 5 Rookie Oscar Gonzalez knocked in the go-ahead run with a two-out single in the 10th inning and the Cleveland Guardians extended their winning streak to five games, beating the Detroit Tigers 4-3. Gonzalez’s hit off Gregory Soto allowed the Guardians to escape after they squandered a two-run lead in the ninth. Cleveland reliever Trevor Stephan opened the ninth by allowing a walk, a single and Jonathan Schoop’s RBI double that got Detroit within 3-2. Enyel De Los Santos came in with one out and gave up Eric Haase’s tying fielder’s-choice grounder. Bryan Shaw worked the 10th for his first save of the season. Royals 5, White Sox 3 – Greinke helps Royals beat Cease, White Sox 5-3 Zack Greinke worked out of trouble to hold Chicago scoreless into the seventh inning, and the Kansas City Royals beat Dylan Cease and the White Sox 5-3. Greinke allowed nine hits but didn’t walk a batter, striking out five while throwing 95 pitches in 6 1/3 innings. Vinnie Pasquantino homered and Nicky Lopez had a two-run single for the Royals, who won back-to-back four-game series for the first time since Aug. 11-18, 2014. Kansas City took three of four from visiting Boston before doing the same to Chicago. Cease allowed three hits and one run in six innings as his ERA dropped to 1.96. Tonight Detroit (Norris 0-4) at Chicago White Sox (Kopech 4-8), 7:10 p.m. WSJM/WCSY 6:50 Cubs are off (The Cubs resume their three game series with the Reds Saturday at 6:40 p.m. in Cincinnati) MLB – No Latino GMs in MLB after Avila firing, only 3 managers There are no Latino general managers left in Major League Baseball after the Detroit Tigers fired Al Avila. It’s a fact even St. Louis Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol didn’t realize until Thursday. Marmol himself is one of only three Latino on-field managers. The others are Boston’s Alex Cora and Washington’s Dave Martinez. There were four when the season started, but the Toronto Blue Jays fired Charlie Montoyo last month. About 29% of the players on big league rosters to start this season were Latino or Hispanic, with the percentage of coaches just a tick higher. But that hasn’t translated to similar numbers in management positions on and off the field WNBA – Women’s National Basketball Association Last Night Las Vegas Aces 89, Chicago Sky 78 Aces 89, Sky 78 – Aces move atop WNBA standings with one game remaining Kelsey Plum had 25 points and four 3-pointers, Jackie Young scored 16 of her 22 points in the third quarter and the Las Vegas Aces beat the Chicago Sky 89-78 to move atop the WNBA standings with one game remaining. Las Vegas (25-10) and Chicago (25-10) are tied for the top spot, with the Aces holding a tiebreaker in the race for home-court advantage throughout the playoffs. The Aces close the regular season on Sunday against Seattle, while the Sky play the Phoenix Mercury. A’ja Wilson and Riquna Williams each scored 12 points for Las Vegas. Kahleah Copper tied a career-high with 28 points for Chicago, which was undone by 17 turnovers. Tonight Washington Mystics at Indiana Fever, 7:00 p.m. NFL – National Football League – Preseason week 1 Last Night New York Giants 23, New England Patriots 21 Baltimore Ravens 23, Tennessee Titans 10 Tonight Atlanta Falcons at Detroit Lions, 6:00 p.m. Saturday Kansas City Chiefs at Chicago Bears, 1:00 p.m. NFL – Contract standoff between Bears, star LB Smith continues The contract standoff between the Chicago Bears and Roquan Smith continued Thursday with the star linebacker watching practice from the sideline and new coach Matt Eberflus saying he expects healthy players participating on the field. The Bears removed Smith from the physically unable to perform list on Wednesday a day after he went public with a trade request. The move by the team opened up the possibility of fines for missing practices. Eberflus declined to discuss what actions the team might take. But he made it clear he expects healthy players to practice. Smith has accused the Bears of using bad-faith tactics during negotiations for a contract extension. NFL – Chiefs’ Mahomes to buck NFL trend, play preseason opener Patrick Mahomes will start the Kansas City Chiefs’ preseason opener in Chicago on Saturday. That bucks a trend across the NFL of coaches sitting their starting quarterbacks for the first of their three exhibition games. Chiefs coach Andy Reid said Thursday he would stick to his usual routine of having each of the four quarterbacks in camp play for a quarter of the preseason opener. And while he acknowledged the number of snaps could change based on the way the game is going, Reid thinks it’s important for everybody to get onto the field in some capacity. NFL – Police: Marshawn Lynch was asleep, car damaged before arrest Police in Las Vegas say former NFL running back Marshawn Lynch was asleep and smelled of alcohol when he was found in his damaged sports car this week and arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated. Lynch’s attorneys responded Thursday with a statement saying Lynch was in a parked car, not driving, and a DUI charge won’t stick. The arresting officer says police found markings suggesting Lynch’s black Shelby GT500 hit sidewalks before stopping in an industrial part of downtown Las Vegas. The 7:30 a.m. Tuesday arrest came after the Seattle Seahawks announced Monday that Lynch had been hired as a team broadcast special correspondent. In 12 NFL seasons, Lynch also played for the Buffalo Bills and Oakland Raiders. NCAAMBKB – Michigan State gives Tom Izzo new deal worth $6.2M per year Michigan State has signed basketball coach Tom Izzo to a new deal valued at $6.2 million per season. The school announced the deal Thursday, saying that the five-year rollover contract will need to be approved by its board next month. The 67-year-old Izzo was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2016. He won a national championship in 2000 and leads all active coaches with eight Final Four appearances. He led Michigan State to a 24th straight NCAA Tournament last season. He has won the Big Ten title 10 times in the regular season and six conference tournament championships. NBA – Russell’s No. 6 being retired across NBA, a 1st for league Bill Russell’s No. 6 jersey is being retired across the NBA, a first for the league. The league and the National Basketball Players Association announced Thursday that the number worn by the 11-time champion, civil rights activist and person good enough to be enshrined in the Basketball Hall of Fame as both a player and a coach was being permanently retired by all 30 teams. Major League Baseball permanently retired No. 42 in honor of Jackie Robinson, who broke the big league’s color barrier. And the NHL retired Wayne Gretzky’s No. 99 in honor of that sport’s all-time scoring leader. NBA players who currently wear No. 6 — including the Los Angeles Lakers’ LeBron James — may continue doing so. But the number cannot be issued again. NHL – Vegas goalie Robin Lehner to miss upcoming season Vegas Golden Knights goalie Robin Lehner will require hip surgery and is expected to miss the upcoming season. The 31-year-old Lehner will likely spend the entire 2022-23 season on long-term injured reserve. The team said no timeline for his recovery has been determined yet. Lehner started 44 games for the Golden Knights last season and finished 23-17-2. He has three years remaining on a contract that carries a $5 million annual cap hit. FIFA – FIFA moves World Cup start in Qatar up 1 day to Nov. 20 FIFA has formally moved the World Cup start up by one day to Nov. 20. It gives host nation Qatar an exclusive Sunday evening slot with a global audience. Qatar will now play Ecuador in Doha on Nov. 20 just 101 days after FIFA’s decision Thursday. It stretches the World Cup to 29 days from the 28 agreed seven years ago. The surprise late switch was signed off by a FIFA committee including president Gianni Infantino and leaders of the six continental soccer bodies. The plan was revealed Wednesday after several rounds of global ticket sales to fans since last year. USA Soccer – Equal pay deal for US women’s soccer approved by judge The proposed $24 million settlement between U.S. women soccer players and the sport’s American governing body was given preliminary approval by a federal judge. U.S. District Judge R. Gary Klausner granted the motion for approval filed by the players. He scheduled a Dec. 5 hearing for final approval. Players, including Megan Rapinoe, Becky Sauerbrunn and Alex Morgan, sued in 2016. The U.S. Soccer Federation agreed in April to pay $22 million to the players plus establish a $2 million fund to benefit the players in their post-soccer careers and charitable efforts. IIHF – US beats Swiss 7-1 to improve to 2-0 in world junior hockey Carter Mazur scored twice in the United States’ five-goal second period and the defending champion Americans beat Switzerland 7-1 on Thursday night to improve to 2-0 in the world junior hockey championship. Brock Faber, Landon Slaggert, Matthew Corondato, Thomas Bordeleau and Riley Duran also scored for the United States. Kaidan Mbereko made 23 saves, allowing only Joel Henry’s goal that tied it at 1 midway through the second. The United States will face Austria on Saturday and close Group B round-robin play against Sweden on Sunday. Earlier, Canada improved to 2-0 in Group A, with captain Mason McTavish scoring four goals and adding two assists in an 11-1 victory over Slovakia. Golf – PGA – Fowler, Day make early bid in Memphis to keep season going Rickie Fowler and Jason Day have reason to feel lucky to be even in the PGA Tour’s postseason. And now they want to keep going. Each shot a 65 in the opening round of the FedEx St. Jude Championship. That’s not enough for the lead, only to give them hope. The co-leaders are Si Woo Kim and J.J. Spaun at 62. But the opening event of the FedEx Cup playoffs is all about being in position to move on to the next round. Fowler and Day needed some of their best golf. They got off on the right foot. Dan Neve has always been a Mustang enthusiast - it was when he had seen the new 2010 Shelby GT500 he knew that he wanted one to add to his collection. Then life happened when Dan's mother and wife were diagnosed with breast cancer about one month apart. It was as if the Ford has a better Idea light bulb went on and he knew that he had to do something. So early in 2010 while his wife was going through surgery's, Dan purchased his Mustang Shelby GT 500 and decided to use it to help make a difference and raise awareness.Asking for donations and sponsorships he was able to raise $10,000 that first (and he thought only) year of fundraising. But once Ford had asked him to display the car at SEMA things changed (for the good) and Cruise for a Cause and our 501c 3 non profit began.Dan was asked to speak at a Susan G Komen event and was unsure about what to say. But what came to mind was a girl that had gone to school with him who had polio. Dan mentioned how today he knew of no one with polio and the HOPE was that one day either our children or grandchildren can say the same about cancer "We knew individuals with cancer but today we know of no one"!Dan travels across the country to as many automotive events as he can with his cars asking for support. With no paid employees, the goal is to raise as much awareness and funds to support cancer research as possible. Research is the key to beating this terrible disease that impacts far too many of us.

FORD MUSTANG MACH-E GT PERFORMANCE EDITION MAKES UK DEBUT - Ford's high performance Mustang Mach-e GT has made its UK debut at Goodwood Festival of Speed ahead of first customer deliveries in late summer 2021. The model rivals the likes of Kia's 576bhp EV6 GT, but costs a chunk more at £67,225. - The GT pairs an 88kWh battery with an electric motor on each axle for a combined output of 459bhp. - s more powerful than an actual Mustang GT, which produces 444bhp from its 5-litre V8 - Torque is rated at a more impressive 634lb ft of torque – for reference, that's 146lb ft more than the Tesla Model Y Performance, and more even than the most powerful road-legal Mustang ever, the Shelby GT500. - 3.7sec is enough to cover the 0-62mph sprint, 1.4sec quicker than the ordinary Mach-E AWD. Top speed is a somewhat low for its class at 124mph, 13mph quicker than its standard siblings - Mach-E GT's range is rated at 310 miles (WLTP) on single charge, sacrificing 25 miles over the standard Mach-E AWD and 69 miles RWD variants fitted with the extended 99kWh battery. Original Source : https://www.evo.co.uk/ford/mustang/201971/ford-mustang-mach-e-gt-performance-edition-makes-uk-debut AUDI Q4 E-TRON COMES IN AT JUST OVER £40,000 - The all-electric Audi Q4 e-tron is now available to order in both SUV and ‘Sportback' coupe guises with prices from £40,750. The cars come with a choice of two battery sizes, three power outputs and four trim levels, offering a maximum range of 316 miles from a single charge. - Audi will give you a 55 kWh battery with 52 kWh of usable capacity, as well as the entry-level 35 e-tron powertrain. That produces 168 bhp, all of which is sent to the rear wheels. As a result, the car will manage 208 miles between trips to the plug, while the 0-62 mph sprint takes nine seconds flat. - 40 e-tron powertrain is even more capable. With an 82 kWh battery (of which 77 kWh is usable) and a 201 bhp electric motor, this is the model that manages 316 miles to a charge. Saddle up for this wild On the Move, as hosts Matt Avery and John Kraman are headed into Ford Bronco territory, covering radical retro rigs and detailing the upcoming all-new mount. But first, there’s a slew of car news to get to, including the success of Mecum’s Las Vegas auction. John details the top 10 list, which includes show stunners like a 1967 Shelby GT500, a 1967 Ferrari P4 Replica and a 2015 Nissan GTR Nismo. Overall, 316 vehicles hammered sold for a 73% sell-through rate with $13 million in overall sales. Then, the guys get a call from Bob Ashton, managing member for the Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals. The show, Matt and John’s personal favorite for world-class muscle cars, is making some modifications this year, as well as presenting a special online video presentation called "MCACN Northwest 2020." Bob fills the guys in on some details, including how the idea came about, some of the guest automotive personalities who will be interviewed and even a sneak peek at some of the freshly restored vehicles that will be unveiled. Then after some racing coverage, Matt powers into details of a new special edition truck from Ram. Called the 75th Anniversary Edition Power Wagon, the heavy hauler celebrates the longstanding heritage of the Power Wagon model. First introduced in 1946, early versions were one of the first on the market to feature available 4x4 and power take offs, allowing users to connect auxiliary equipment like buzz saws and mobile drilling equipment. The nameplate lingered through the early 1980s before returning in 2005 and continuing up to today. Wrapping up, the guys talk about Don "The Snake" Prudhomme’s newly released book that details the racer’s long-standing career. In the second segment, Matt and John are on the line with Seth Burgett, CEO and president of Gateway Bronco, one of the premier shops offering fully overhauled first-generation Ford Broncos. Seth details how the operation got started and their current lineup of offerings, and then shares a tease of some future projects including an electric Bronco and a soon to be released line of Ford F-series 1967-1972 trucks. Before riding into the sunset, Matt and John are joined in the final segment by Dave Rivers, the SUV marketing manager for Ford. Dave gives the guys a rundown of how the all-new 2021 Bronco came to be, including the extensive research that went into the project to make sure the heritage of the first-generation truck was fully captured and celebrated in the new model. He also shares some insight into the planned Bronco roll-out, including the importance of the Bronco Sport SUV and just how passionate consumers are for the soon to be released high-tech off-road pony.
Brett, Mark, and Corey welcome special guests Devon Crail and John Goodman to discuss how they came together to start Zero260.com, what makes their cool new website different from other car search websites, and their grand vision for the future. In the news, you can live at the racetrack if you have enough jack, Magnuson wants to soup up your Chevy truck, you can get the heart of a Shelby GT500 in a box, or if you prefer MOPAR, you can get the heart of a Redeye in a box. Last week, a pair of historic experimental Shelby Mustangs were unveiled at the 49th Annual Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction in Scottsdale, Arizona. Little Red and the Green Hornet were the only notchback coupes ever manufactured with a Shelby nameplate. Once thought to be lost forever, the prototypes now have a new lease on life. Little Red is a 1967 Ford Shelby GT500 EXP Prototype. In March 2018, this "Holy Grail of lost collector cars" was found in rural North Texas. Most believed the car was destroyed, but it turns out that the same owner had it stored (albeit outside) for more than 20 years. The Green Hornet is a 1968 Shelby GT500 prototype. Craig Jackson, chairman and CEO of Barrett-Jackson, unveiled the cars. The Team that discovered Little Red included classic car restoration specialist Jason Billups, who led the restoration of the Green Hornet. At the unveiling, Little Red and Green Hornet idled beside their modern-day descendants, including a one-of-one Candy Apple Green and a Rapid Red 2020 Shelby GT500. The independent rear suspension, four-wheel disc brakes, and electronic fuel injection connect Green Hornet to the 2020 models, while the new supercharger is similar to what was under the hood of Little Red. The 2020 Green Hornet car was the first model to roll off the line at Flat Rock Assembly Plant last fall. Jackson paid $1.1 million at auction for the vehicle to raise money for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

They also discuss why the video features a Challenger Hellcat and not a Redeye or a Demon, as well as the methodology used for getting the drag race and hot lap times. Lastly they discuss potential future Icons episode ideas. The Carmudgeon Show is a comedic, information-filled 25-minute conversation with Jason Cammisa and Derek Tam-Scott, two car enthusiasts who are curmudgeonly beyond their years. Proving you don’t have to be old to be grumpy, they spend each episode talking about what’s wrong with various parts of the automotive universe. Despite their best efforts to keep it negative, they usually wind up laughing, happy, and extolling their love for cars. Which just makes them angrier and more bitter. Jason Cammisa is an automotive journalist, social-media figure, and TV host with over 250 million views on YouTube alone. Jason’s deeply technical understanding, made possible by a lifelong obsession with cars, allows him to fully digest what’s going on within an automobile — and then put it into simple terms for others to understand. Also, a Master’s Degree in Law trained him to be impossible to argue with. Derek Tam-Scott still tries. He’s a young automotive expert with old-man taste in cars, and a Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering — which means he knows how to be civil to Jason. Or at least he tries. With a decade and a half’s experience buying, selling, driving and brokering classic and exotic cars, he’s experienced the world’s most iconic cars. And hated most of them. The Shelby GT500: A fast car gets even faster by Moose Tracks
The Shelby GT500 is a beast on the track. It's not a surprise. After a day driving around Las Vegas, I found something that surprised me: The GT500 is as comfortable on the road as it is on the track. The Shelby GT500 is an icon of motoring. The name implies a simple formula of stuffing a lot of power into a modest body. I'm pleased to report Ford stuck to the proven method for the 2020 GT500. A 5.2L supercharged engine provides 670 HP in this coupe.

A couple of weeks ago Chevy unveiled a new-look Corvette touting an upgraded engine design capable of pushing the iconic sports car to new levels of speed and maneuverability. That news was obviously not lost on the folks over in Blue Oval land. Ford recently unveiled the most powerful, street-legal Mustang in that brand’s 55-year history. The 2020 Shelby GT500 will feature a 5.2-liter supercharged V8 capable of cranking out up to 625 foot-pounds of torque and 760 horsepower in going zero to 60 in about 3.5 seconds.Ford also touts the unique engine pushing out all this power. The hand-built motor utilizes specially-designed pistons and other parts to compliment a seven-speed, dual clutch automatic transmission that utilizes computer controls to upshift in 80 milliseconds – which is actually quicker than an eye blink. An enhanced suspension system and what Ford claims are the largest brakes of any U.S.-made sports coupe, help keep all that power under control. In speaking with the Associated Press, Ford performance powertrain engineering manager Patrick Morgan says the new Mustang was created for enthusiasts who want performance on the road and the track. This helps explain features like a pump that can send gas to the fuel injectors all the way until the tank is empty, and an oil pan capable of keeping the engine lubricated during extreme use.Morgan says the car can go from zero to 100 mph and back to zero again in 10.6 seconds. On sale this fall, the 2020 Shelby GT500 will retail for just under $74,000, but options like a Carbon Fiber Track Package can send it up and over $100,000 pretty easily

Auto Show will air next week.We wrap the show up back in Vegas for the second half of Motorator Matt's interviews at this year's SEMA. With a little more power, a less weighty engine and new performance upgrades for 2011, the folks at Ford's SVT performance unit continue to turn the once portly, push-pig Shelby GT500 into an ever-more-legitimate all-around performance car.Like its V6 and GT brethren, the GT500, which the company is to unveil at the 2010 Chicago Auto Show, gets substantial upgrades for 2011, only a year after a major overhaul for 2010. You can think of it as a preemptive strike against the Camaro Z28 that has long been rumored to be waiting in the wings at Chevy.
In our recent pony car comparison test, the retro-heavy and just plain heavy 2010 Chevrolet Camaro SS walked away with top honors in its debut. The big V8-powered coupe needed a new challenge. It was time to refocus the lens. Shoot from a different angle, so to speak. So we squared the brooding visage of our SS-badged protagonist up against the cruelest bunch of savages we could find, the range-topping 2009 Dodge Challenger SRT8 and 2010 Ford Shelby GT500. 2010 Camaro SS vs. 2009 Challenger SRT8 vs. 2010 Shelby GT500: http://www.insideline.com/ford/shelby-gt500/2010/comparison-test-2010-camaro-ss-vs-2009-challenger-srt8-vs-2010-shelby-gt500.html
The 2010 Chevrolet Camaro V6 sits, engine ticking, in the middle of a dangerous intersection of perception. Heading in from one side is Muscle Car Blvd. Dotted with neon signs and its pavement scarred with melted rubber, this road is enthusiastically patrolled by car-guy elitists. It bears a sign reading "V8s only." The quick-stop oil change location is long closed, "DIY 4-Life" spray-painted across the dusty windows. Entry-level sport coupes tread lightly here. Dead ahead lies Vanity Lane. It is patrolled by secretaries, retired secretaries and the fashionistas to whom a car is no different from a handbag ? a world where style is substance. Here one little faux pas, one misguided association with, say, a mullet haircut, will shatter the illusion of high style. It's here that you find the entry-level Corvette with automatic transmission, the old Lexus SC coupe and the ever-lasting Mustang V6. 2010 Chevrolet Camaro 2LT V6 Full Test http://www.insideline.com/chevrolet/camaro/2010/2010-chevrolet-camaro-2lt-v6-full-test-and-video.html Chevy Camaro SS @ the Track: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gJrR8QI9iaQ Ford Shelby GT500 v Hennessey Camaro: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FwCFIk0xH_s Camaro SS v Challenger SRT8 v Shelby GT500: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5rJhgxyWVDo
