All of us are products of our upbringing and experiences, and whether we realize it or not, have come to believe things that aren't actually true. Those false beliefs hold us back. They are like recordings that constantly play in our minds, condemning us, accusing us, shaming us, and blaming us. Is it possible to silence these thoughts in our heads that have tied us up in knots for so long? Can we ever find peace? Yes! The Bible promises we can be transformed by renewing our minds. In Unraveling the Lie-Knots, Sheryl Giesbrecht Turner offers encouragement and hope for those who are ready to search out the truth in the Bible. She equips you with practical ways to uncover and dispel lies, even those you may have believed since childhood. She shows how, with the Holy Spirit's help, you really can untangle knots of deception, discover the lies behind fears, dispel depression, and defeat the effects of trauma. Discover how to identify and unravel the lie-knots so that you can move forward and become a fruitful disciple of Jesus. In this episode of the L3 Leadership podcast, you'll our lightning round interview with Michelle Myers, Founder of She Works His Way, a business that helps train women to pursue their passions while keeping God & Family as their top priorities. To see the notes and ways to connect with Michelle Myers go to the show notes at http://www.L3Leadership.org/episode173. You can listen to part one of our interview with Michelle in episode #172. Michelle's Bio: After meeting at seminary in Texas, Michelle married her husband, James, while they were both getting their masters degrees in Christian Education. Today, James serves as a campus pastor for Biltmore Baptist Church. They love raising their two boys, Noah & Cole, in the beautiful Asheville, NC. Of all her hats (and you know Michelle loves her hats!), the favorite ones she wears are that of wife & mom. After doing fitness all wrong herself & battling an eating disorder for 4 years, Michelle certainly never expected to have credibility in the field…but God had other plans. Not only did Michelle write about her journey in The Look that Kills: An Anorexic’s Addiction to Control, but God continued to open doors for her in the health industry. Linking arms with Team Beachbody has been an amazing journey for Michelle, creating friendships & freedom she never imagined. Michelle loves working out from home, using their premium nutrition supplements and supporting others to have similar success. She is an Elite coach within the company, and she even finished 2013 as #15 out of over 150,000 coaches. In 2013, Michelle launched Cross Training Couture, a faith-based fitness line for women. This ministry was on Michelle’s heart after seeing so many “empty” phrases written on tanks in popular fitness stores. She wanted a line of “witness wear” to encourage women to remember that it’s so much deeper than the number on the scale. Fitness is about having the energy to be everything God calls you to be. After launching two successful businesses, God stirred a desire in Michelle to train other women to pursue their passions while keeping God & their family their top priorities. She Works His Way exists to put the focus on teaching the Bible & how that applies to business & life, rather than teaching business & time management skills, sprinkling with Scripture. As an extension of this ministry, she also does social media & brand consulting for like-minded businesses & ministries. Due to her commitment to her young family & Myers Cross Training, Michelle takes very limited speaking engagements & clients. However, if you’re interested in booking Michelle to speak for your event or consult for your business/ministry, you may inquire here. The Price of Leadership and the Courage to Lead with John Guest

L3 Leadership Podcast

In this episode, you'll hear John Guest give a talk on the price of leadership. John is 81 years old and is originally from the U.K. and he has been in ministry since he was 17 years old, when he gave his life to Christ at a Billy Graham meeeting. He has been in ministry for over over 40 years in Pittsburgh. This is an important talk for all of us to listen to. John has paid a huge price to obey the call of God on his life. He is not at his finish line yet, but he has made it further than a lot of other Christian leaders. My pastor says that he believes 2% of Christian leaders make it to their finish line. If that is true, you should be all the more eager to listen to what John has to say. This isn't someone who has talked a good game. This is someone who has lived a good game. I'd be absolutely thrilled if I knew my life would look anything like John's when I'm 81. The best part is, he's not slowing down. You'll hear about his newest Kingdom initiative in the talk. I think you'll come away from this talk fired up to go the distance in your journey! To see the notes and ways to connect with John Guest, go to the show notes at L3Leadership.org/episode161. John Guest's Bio: Dr. Guest was born and raised in Oxford, England, "…just an ordinary lad from London," as he describes himself. At the age of 18, while studying to be an engineer, he attended a Billy Graham crusade and committed his life to Christ. Shortly following his ordination, he moved to the United States as part of a Christian rock band, “The Exkursions.” He began his ministry in Pittsburgh nearly 40 years ago, serving as a youth pastor and then, shortly thereafter, as senior pastor and rector of Sewickley's St. Stephens Episcopal Church for more than 20 years. As co-founder of Trinity Episcopal School for Ministry (TESM), Guest had the opportunity to influence the Episcopal Diocese in Pittsburgh. During a very turbulent time in the Episcopal Church, he held firmly to conservative Biblical values and helped to establish a reforming influence nationwide. Guest has authored 10 books on the Christian lifestyle. He also participated in the Lausanne Committee on World Evangelism and co-founded the South American Missionary Society. Additionally, he helped found the Coalition for Christian Outreach (CCO), a ministry designed to support and equip young Christian college students. That organization still exists today, reaching out to more than 84 colleges in Pennsylvania, as well as several nearby states. What do you wish people knew about your journey what it took to get to where you’re at? What are some principles/character traits that you try to form in the young men who come under your influence as a head coach? How do you help them become men? One of your key principles that you teach is “The Standard is the Standard”. What is the origin of that statement? When you learned that and how do you apply it in your own life? What did you think you knew as a player about leadership and coaching that wasn’t actually true when you stepped into coaching? How do you handle criticism and praise? Since then he has founded more than 20 companies. Rick is the seventh of nine children raised by a mother with serious, life-long depression issues. He learned early that it's best to think positively about the cards one's been dealt in life, no matter how difficult those cards seem. His life's purpose, which is to inspire entrepreneurship, led Rick to start A Billion Entrepreneurs ("ABE"). ABE is a global movement and theatrical film that motivates people to seek the freedom associated with living a purposeful life. His dream is to motivate people to learn and grow as passionate entrepreneurs, regardless of their age, their starting point, or their current position. Rick learned that business growth and success are accelerated when a few key principles are applied. He found that by learning "The 12 Foundational Principles of Business," which he teaches in an online program called Business Finishing School; that virtually any individual or company can be put on the path to prosperity. He created these principles to help successful people become more grounded and focused in their business and personal lives. For more than 20 years, Rick has been the founder and President of a financial holding company. He is proud of being the founding and five-time Chairman of the Gathering of Titans Program, an annual event held at MIT in Boston. To learn how to connect with Daniel, Zero Six Eight, and Work Pittsburgh, go to the show notes at L3Leadership.org/episode122 Daniel Bull's Bio: Daniel Bull is the founder of Zero Six Eight, a for-profit business incubator based in Pittsburgh, PA that exists to promote the full potential of ex-offenders as they pursue goals of employment, entrepreneurship, and independence. Daniel founded Zero Six Eight in 2013 after completing a 21-month prison sentence. Since then, the company has supported 11 startups and created over 64 jobs across a number of different industries. In addition to his role at Zero Six Eight, Daniel is the Executive VP of Nello Construction and Principal of Nello Development Group. Through a unique partnership, Zero Six Eight and Nello Development came together to form WorkPittsburgh, a modular and prefab contractor operating out of Pittsburgh’s South Side.
