Right versus left. Democrat versus Republican. Liberal versus Conservative. These are the terms we are all too familiar with that practically serve to symbolize the political struggle between good and evil, freedom and tyranny, or big and small government. But if the last 50 years of politics have proven anything, it's that these labels mean shockingly little. Whether it's Reagan opening the nation's floodgates via amnesty under a Republican elephant or the supposedly anti-big corporation Democrats mandating an untested vaccine, both ideas functionally operate as little more than two sides of the same coin. The yard sign changes every four years, but the underlying assumptions and commitments to liberal democracy don't.Yet when you trace the intellectual formation of the American conservative identity you find that wasn't always the case. Something happened in the '60s and '70s that broke our connection to our English, Anglo, and Protestant past and made America into the degenerate war hawk it became in the '90s and early 2000s. Committed to a defense of Israel and esoteric readings of the Ancient Greek philosophers, influential academics like Leo Strauss and Harry Jaffa—alongside journalists like Irving Kristol—birthed a powerful new flavor of conservatism that took root in the American consciousness. This supposedly right-wing political thought had little differences with the left in its embrace of liberal democracy and equality, but served its purpose in turning America into a dominant foreign adversary alongside a compelling narrative about its embrace of creedal nationhood and the peoples of the world. But as the downstream effects of decades of universal suffrage and propositional nationhood come home to roost, neoconservatism offers shockingly little substance in the way of resistance or conserving our Christian European heritage. Populism and revolution are on the rise, and the strong gods are coming home. It's time to stop calling ourselves conservatives and falling into the same dialectical trap again and again. We are not neocons and we are not interested in the solutions of Mitt Romney, Ted Cruz, and Mitch McConnell. Like the Founding Fathers who risked it all to forge a new, self-governed future, we also need real and potentially radical solutions to our dilemma. Cutting taxes by 10% and another war in the Middle East isn't going to do it.Tune in now as we discuss Leo Strauss, American conservatism, and the coming right-wing revolution.MINISTRY SPONSORS:Reece Fund. MAGA Accounts are a thing now! The proposed $4,000,000,000,000 legislation would give $1,000 for every American baby born over the next few years in a special type of account that they could use after a set-amount of time and would be tied to the stock market. There's a strong likelihood that Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) could force it into the next Budget Resolution Bill so it could be law before you know it!Is this a positive thing or a negative thing? Our cunning host, Mike Slater, goes over ALL aspects of this proposal and takes phone calls from listeners like YOU on the good, the bad, and the ugly of the proposal. Don't miss this honest and open discussion in our audio town square!
Little Gov. Dan Patrick says this has been a "boring session" for him. Why would that be? Well, maybe it's because the Texas House is doing just about whatever the right-wing Texas Senate wants even though Speaker Dustin Burrows was elected with a majority Democratic coalition. Plus, the fight over Medicaid cuts gets downright nasty in Washington and Sen. Ted Cruz has serious concerns about President Trump accepting a gift of a luxury jet from a foreign government. Since Donald Trump became president on January 20, 2025, approximately 345,000 jobs have been created, based on available data up to April 2025. Josh Hawley, who frequently breaks with his party on economic issues, told the Daily Caller News Foundation on Thursday afternoon that he would be “fine” with the president's millionaire tax proposal. He cautioned that at most two of his Senate GOP colleagues would join him in signing off on the tax hike. Politics, news analysis, and some pop culture and comedy thrown in too. Here’s a sample episode recapping four Thursday takeaways. Give the guys a listen and then follow and subscribe wherever you get your podcasts: ihr.fm/3InlkL8 The Forever Regime Clay and Buck discuss the Supreme Court case involving controversial books being read to young children in Montgomery County schools, emphasizing the concerns of parents and the implications of gender ideology in education. The conversation touches on the Trump administration's stance on federal funding and university independence, featuring insights from Dr. Larry Arn of Hillsdale College. Clay and Buck also address the feedback from parents regarding the inappropriate content in children's books and the arrogance of Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson's comments on school choice. They explore the broader impact of left-wing indoctrination in schools and the importance of conservative values in education. The hosts praise Dolly Parton's Imagination Library for its positive influence on children's reading habits. Dr. Larry Arnn (@hillsdalecollegemichigan) Dr. Larry Arnn from Hillsdale College, discusses the importance of academic independence and the controversy surrounding federal funding for universities like Harvard. Dr. Arnn emphasizes Hillsdale's commitment to not taking federal dollars to maintain educational freedom and criticizes institutions that rely heavily on government funding while engaging in discriminatory practices. The conversation shifts to the cultural shift in higher education, highlighting the growing popularity of Southeastern Conference (SEC) schools and other southern state universities among students from traditionally liberal areas like New York and LA. Clay and Buck discuss how these schools have become desirable due to their stance against anti-Semitic protests and their commitment to academic integrity. Dr. Arnn delves into the intellectual roots of modern progressivism, explaining how historical materialist doctrines have influenced current educational practices and the push for radical changes in family and societal norms. He critiques the lack of objective knowledge in these ideologies and stresses the importance of classical education in understanding and evaluating the world. India and Pakistan The ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine and the complexities of the negotiations and the frustrations expressed by President Trump. Clay and Buck analyze the geopolitical implications and the potential for a prolonged conflict, drawing parallels to historical conflicts like the Korean War. The hosts also delve into the tensions between India and Pakistan, exploring the recent terrorist attack in Kashmir and the subsequent actions taken by India, including cutting off water supplies to Pakistan. They discuss the potential for escalation and the broader impact on regional stability. The Rich Zeoli Show- Full Episode (04/16/2025): 3:05pm- While speaking with the press from the Oval Office alongside President Donald Trump on Monday, El Salvador President Nayib Bukele revealed that he has no plans to return Kilmar Abrego Garcia who was deported to El Salvador after the Trump Administration determined he was in the U.S. illegally and a member of the gang MS-13. In a recent ruling, the Supreme Court determined that Abrego Garcia's deportation was, in part, the result of an “administrative error” and that the Trump Administration should “facilitate” his return to the United States. Though, after the error is corrected, Abrego Garcia would ultimately be eligible for deportation anyway. While speaking with the press, Homeland Security Advisor Stephen Miller denied an administrative error ever occurred. The Trump Administration also noted that because Abrego Garcia is a citizen of El Salvador, they have no recourse if Bukele denies their request for release. 3:10pm- In posts to social media, Senator Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) documented his trip to San Salvador, El Salvador where he hoped to negotiate the release of Kilmar Abrego Garcia. During an interview with Fox News, Attorney General Pam Bondi emphasized that Abrego Garcia is not a “Maryland man” as the “liberal media” continues to insist. She continued: “He's a guy from El Salvador who is a part of one of the most violent gangs in our country.” 3:30pm- Zeoli Show action figures, Matt gets yelled at for misreading a text message, and Rich promotes his numerous appearances on television. 3:40pm- On Tuesday night during the opening day of the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, former President Joe Biden delivered his first public speech since leaving office. During the address, Biden used outdated phrases, screamed at attendees, and was drowned out by background music—so, it went about as well as we expected. 3:50pm- According to The New York Post, Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) Director William Pulte has sent a federal criminal referral to the Department Justice—accusing New York Attorney General Letitia James of mortgage fraud. Ironically, in the past, James has notably stated: “no one is above the law.” 4:05pm- Dr. Victoria Coates— Former Deputy National Security Advisor & the Vice President of the Davis Institute for National Security and Foreign Policy at The Heritage Foundation—joins The Rich Zeoli Show to discuss Donald Trump's trade battle with China, Senator Chris Van Hollen's trip to El Salvador, Steve Wilkoff expressing optimism that Vladimir Putin may soon end Russia's war with Ukraine, and the Trump Administration's negotiation with Iran. On Wednesday, the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation heard testimony from Jared Isaacman, President Trump's nominee to lead NASA. During the confirmation hearing, Isaacman indicated a priority of sending humans to Mars—while maintaining the agency's plans to return people to the lunar surface. In response to a question from Senator Ted Cruz, Isaacman said “I don't think we have to make any tough trades here, Senator. I think if we can concentrate our resources at the world's greatest space agency, we don't have to make a binary decision of moon versus Mars, or moon has to come first versus Mars.” Senators questioned how a strategy involving both options would be possible under current funding levels, and stressed that a bipartisan law had codified the current approach of targeting the moon first, then Mars. The fate of the Artemis lunar exploration program has faced questions in the new administration. In his inaugural address, President Trump expressed a desire to send astronauts to Mars, but didn't mention the moon. Elon Musk, head of SpaceX and a favored advisor to the president, is in favor of prioritizing crewed Mars missions ahead of lunar programs. Under questioning, Isaacman repeatedly refused to say directly whether Musk had been present for his job interview with the President.Host Flora Lichtman talks with Senior Producer Charles Bergquist about the nomination and the path ahead for NASA. They also talk about other stories from the week in science, including the controversy over claims of a “de-extincted” dire wolf, advances in rapid bird flu sensors, and the detailed physics of a cup of pour-over coffee.Transcript for this segment will be available after the show airs on sciencefriday.com. Bush, Barack Obama, and Joe Biden. It discusses the implications of these injunctions, describing them as an abuse of power and a deliberate attempt to undermine Trump's agenda. We include statements from various officials, including Attorney General Pam Bondi, emphasizing the constitutional crisis posed by these injunctions. Legislative and Judicial Responses: Efforts to address the issue, including a bill co-sponsored by Chuck Grassley and the possibility of impeaching judges who are seen as defying their oath of office. It also discusses the role of the appellate process and the Supreme Court in addressing these nationwide injunctions. USA Fencing and Transathlete Policy: An investigation into USA Fencing's policy on transgender athletes, initiated by the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation. It details the case of Stephanie Turner, a female fencer who refused to compete against a transgender opponent and was subsequently disqualified from the tournament. The investigation aims to gather information on the policy, the number of transgender athletes competing, and any injuries resulting from these competitions. It's news and commentary with a solid base, good moisturizer, and just the right amount of subtle highlights. They will try to bury Trump politically if he kills cartel related civilians. The Chi-coms were behind all the gender bender hype. Why are our airlines like 1950's tin cans? You don't need algorithms to see what's coming. Sec. Duffy defied President Trump and hired others. His wife is a better actor. Just who is now CIA special activities director? Definitely feeling some Brennan vibes. No Real ID convo today. They are all trying to stall and subvert reality. Face oil for a smooth texture. Booby traps were laid by Trump. A pencil on the eye for mascara, and then bronze on the bottom lid. Morpheous was sent to take someone out. Revenge is the goal. Ted Cruz has said he cannot stand Trump. He's also clueless on green hydrogen fuel. He's in an itchy human suit. AFLCIO getting involved. Holding one's tongue in chats is difficult. We cannot identify drones. Remote ID would help. Many regions are dense with flying vehicles. Soros has other family members we should be talking about. Let's concentrate as a nation. It's very important that now we concentrate on the things that matter most to us, the United States.
Democrats and others slammed Sen. Ted Cruz again this week for the "Cruz Curse" after the University of Houston lost the national championship men's basketball game in San Antonio with Cruz in attendance. Cruz keeps showing up to support Texas teams - and it doesn't work out - but he won't show up for Sen. John Cornyn in his primary against Texas AG Ken Paxton. March Madness may have ended, but Market Madness went into effect shortly after Trump announced “reciprocal tariffs” — some over 100% — on imported goods from dozens of countries. Stocks plummeted. Republican figureheads like Ted Cruz spoke out against the sweeping plan. According to Trump, his move became a success once global leaders started offering new trade deals. Then, just hours after the tariffs went into effect, Trump declared a 90-day pause on most of them, excluding China. While the market is still on shaky ground, Trump says it bounced back due to his “master negotiations.” Is the everyday American feeling the relief he claims? Meanwhile, prices are still rising. Voters yearn for the days when households could survive on a single income and eggs didn't cost an arm and a leg. Even with an unfavorable economy, Trump framed his initial tariff plan as a path back to the old American Dream. Is that still possible? Or are we blinded by nostalgia? However, it makes sense for voters to cling to the past when facing the political and economic uncertainty of the future. But how should we go about it? America's got a complicated past. According to the culture wars, the right believes the “greatness” of the past focuses on economic prosperity, and the left says the “greatness” of the past came at the cost of certain minority groups. Do we need to resolve a definition of American greatness?

The Rich Zeoli Show- Full Episode (04/11/2025): 3:05pm- U.S.-China Trade Feud Escalates: Earlier this week, President Donald Trump increased reciprocal tariffs on Chinese imports to 145%—citing the country's adoption of unfair trade practices and its role in fentanyl distribution. In response, China announced that it will be placing a 125% on American imports. Trump Administration Trade Representative Jamieson Greer called the decision “not terribly surprising but certainly unfortunate.” Rich emphasizes that President Trump “needs to announce deals” in order to calm markets and allow the administration to focus its efforts on remedying Chinese trade predations. 3:10pm- On Friday, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said “the phones are ringing off the hook” with U.S. trade partners seeking to discuss retooled agreements. Yesterday, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said he had been in contact with as many as 75 nations—and he plans to begin negotiations in the coming days. 3:20pm- While appearing on Fox News, Acting U.S. Attorney for the District of New Jersey Alina Habba revealed that she has directed her office to investigate Governor Phil Murphy (D-NJ) over the state's refusal to assist federal immigration enforcement officials. 3:40pm- On Friday, President Donald Trump expressed interest in making Daylight Saving Time permanent. In a post to Truth Social, he wrote: “The House and Senate should push hard for more Daylight at the end of a day. Very popular and, most importantly, no more changing of the clocks, a big inconvenience and, for our government, A VERY COSTLY EVENT!!!” Rich jokes that Trump will simply send Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent to negotiate with the sun for an additional hour of daylight—after successfully negotiating new trade deals with Vietnam and Japan, of course. 4:05pm- BREAKING NEWS: Louisiana immigration Judge Jamee Comans determined that she has no authority to question Secretary of State Marco Rubio's decision to deport Mahmoud Khalil——a former Columbia University graduate student and a non-U.S. citizen—who has been outspoken about his support for the terrorist organization Hamas and ending Western civilization. Khalil has until April 23rd to request a stay on his deportation. He will be deported to either Syria or Algeria. 4:30pm- According to a report from ABC27 News, Shawn Monper—a man from Butler County, Pennsylvania—has been charged with threatening to kill President Donald Trump and Elon Musk in videos posted to his YouTube channel “Mr. Satan.” Monper allegedly began purchasing guns after Trump's inauguration. 4:50pm- While visiting Rome, Italy, Queen Camilla was presented with a Margherita pizza to celebrate her 20th wedding anniversary. However, Rich, Matt, and Justin are disturbed…the pizza doesn't look very good! 5:00pm- Dr. Victoria Coates— Former Deputy National Security Advisor & the Vice President of the Davis Institute for National Security and Foreign Policy at The Heritage Foundation—joins The Rich Zeoli Show to discuss an Axios piece baselessly attacking William Ruger, who was recently appointed to the position of Deputy Director of National Intelligence by Director Tulsi Gabbard. Deportation of Venezuelan Gang Members: The Supreme Court lifted a judge's order blocking the deportation of suspected Venezuelan gang members to a prison in El Salvador. The Trump administration used the Alien Enemies Act, an 18th-century law, to classify these gang members as part of a hostile government. The Supreme Court ruled 5-4 that challenges to deportation must be filed as habeas corpus petitions in the location where the individuals are detained, not as class actions in D.C. Cancellation of Teacher Training Grants: The Supreme Court upheld the cancellation of $600 million in teacher training grants, with $65 million yet to be distributed. The court ruled 5-4 that claims against federal money should be brought in the Court of Federal Claims. This decision was seen as a technical but significant victory against district judges trying to block the Trump administration's agenda. Reinstatement of Federal Employees: The Supreme Court reversed a district judge's order to reinstate 16,000 federal employees fired by the Trump administration. The court ruled 7-2 that the administration had followed proper procedures for the dismissals. This decision was another victory against district judges attempting to halt the Trump administration's actions. Issuance of Social Security Numbers: Nearly 4 million non-citizens were issued Social Security numbers during Joe Biden's presidency. These numbers allowed illegal aliens to access government programs and aid, costing American taxpayers hundreds of billions of dollars. The Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) reported that many illegal aliens received Medicaid, driver's licenses, and some even registered to vote. Transgender Athletes in Women's Sports: A female fencer was disqualified for refusing to compete against a transgender opponent. Senator Ted Cruz launched an investigation into USA Fencing's policies, aiming to protect women and girls in sports. Please Hit Subscribe to this podcast Right Now. Have you ever been deepfaked? Or maybe this is just a new fear – that photos of you end up online that are you – but not really you? What would you do? For an increasing number of people – especially women – this is becoming a reality. So much so that a recent bill in Congress called the “Take It Down” Act has found some incredibly rare bipartisan support. The bill is sponsored by republican Senator Ted Cruz and democrat Senator Amy Klobuchar – making it illegal to post explicit deepfakes – First Lady Melania Trump has also been a vocal supporter. But the thing is, it isn't law yet and… it might not be enough. A new podcast called Levittown, from Bloomberg and Kaleidoscope Podcasts, takes listeners on a sort of cyber thriller for the AI age. It's the story of a bunch of young women in the suburbs of Long Island who find naked fakes of themselves online and when told there's nothing they can do about it – set out to catch the perpetrator. This ends up connecting them to a web of online vigilantes – and cyber criminals taking advantage of a justice system not ready for the reality of AI. Endless Thread brings you the first episode in this series. If you like what you hear – find Levittown wherever you like to get your podcasts to listen to the full series.

Congressional Hearing: The CEOs of NPR and PBS faced tough questioning from Congress, reminiscent of previous hearings involving Ivy League presidents on anti-Semitism. Catherine Maher, the CEO of NPR, was particularly criticized for her past tweets and statements, which were scrutinized by Brandon Gill, a freshman House member from Texas. Key Exchanges: Maher was questioned about tweets related to white supremacy, reparations, and looting. She often claimed not to recall the context or denied the implications of her tweets. Gill highlighted contradictions in Maher's statements, pointing out her previous calls for reparations and her views on looting. Maher's Background: Maher has a history of working with various organizations, including the Council on Foreign Relations, UNICEF, the National Democratic Institute, the World Bank, Access Now, and the Wikimedia Foundation. Her testimony was seen as evasive and out of touch, drawing parallels to past controversial testimonies by other leaders. Filibuster Record: We also mention Senator Cory Booker's record-breaking filibuster, surpassing Strom Thurmond's previous record. Senator Ted Cruz shared his experience and advice on filibustering, including practical tips like wearing comfortable shoes and drinking minimal water. Tariffs and Economic Policy: We discuss President Trump's use of tariffs as leverage and economic policy, highlighting the immediate and long-term impacts on the economy. The Tax Foundation's analysis predicts significant revenue from tariffs but also potential negative effects on GDP and household income. Please Hit Subscribe to this podcast Right Now. Happy Friday! Sam welcome David Dayen from The American Prospect and Organized Money podcast about Trump's tariff-pocalypse. https://prospect.org/ https://www.organizedmoney.fm/ First, Sam runs through updates on Trump's global trade war, Congress' attempt to regain authority over tariffs, South Korea's impeachment of now-former President Yoon, Trump's firing of national security officials, the Trump Administration's public health whoopsie, the Senate's budget reconciliation, the confirmation of Dr. Oz, Schumer's polling, Trump's attack on Brown University, DOGE vs. Social Security, and US aid to Israel, before watching Scott Bessent explain why good markets are bad and bad markets are good. David Dayen then joins to tackle the myriad insanities that led to Trump's imposition of these tumultuous tariffs, walking through the nonsensical (and potentially AI-generated) formula Trump used to calculate them and the utter dearth of any complementary incentive structure or strategic targeting to go the tariffs, all suggesting that they're perhaps more grounded in an attempt to bully and punish the rest of the world economically while working-class Americans pay the cost. After expanding on the Bessent “box” theory of Trump's tariff agenda, Sam and David get in some solid digs at Schumer as they touch on Congress' ongoing attempt to take back tariff power and ponder the future of a GOP turn on Trump's economic sabotage, before unpacking what to expect from to the GOP's ongoing budget reconciliation push. Wrapping up Dayen posits a strong theory on a Conservative push to use rising prices amid tariffs to justify tax cuts, before watching some open criticisms of Trump from Ron Johson and Ted Cruz. And in the Fun Half: Sam tackles the return of Laura Loomer to Trump's inner circle, now in the capacity as some form of National Security advisor, parses through some highlights from his appearance on PBD, including an attempt to address some Social Security misinformation, and watches Judge Jeanine make some blatantly incorrect statements about the future of the US economy.
