Monoclonal antibody use booms in Michigan

Maybe you’ve seen the phrase: monoclonal antibodies. It’s a treatment doctors use to keep their COVID-19 patients out of the hospital. Pharmaceutical companies are running more ads for them now, too. Just a few months ago, the Michigan’s state health department practically couldn’t give this stuff away. They even had to stash some of their surplus in a warehouse. Now the state’s seen a 300% surge in usage. Today It’s an interesting case study for why sometimes the best medicine doesn’t make it to the front lines very quickly-- even when there are a lot of people who need it.  GUEST: Kate Wells, Michigan Radio reporter   Looking for more conversations from Stateside? Track Your Life with Boyd Varty

Play Episode Listen Later Jun 26, 2020 14:27

Journal entry It all begins with sketchy reports of a very rare black rhino that was seen in the far north of the reserve. I drive out with my gear motivated by some deep tracking lore…. If there is a rare animal out there I must go and look for it. The inclination to seek out and find what is rare is fundamental to the tracker. In this case this results in an entire afternoon alone in heat and burning midday light scouting. It’s not romantic…..it's solo trudging…..self motivated. No one to make a show for. It comes out of a place in me. I walk through dry winter terrain in search of the track. I sweat and stare at the earth for any scuff or mark. Any sign of the beautiful creature Attuning to the way the ground speaks in some fundamental way. Nothing I'm tracking but I'm not tracking…. At certain levels of any practice or artform …..what you are doing gives way to who you are being. In martial arts fighting is a door to presence and discipline and devotion. In yoga the stretching is the front side for a life of compassion and service. I feel this now as I trudge around with no sign of a rhino. The tracking…..is becoming about a certain tenacity I am developing. It's about living the kind of life where lessons can find me. It's about practicing. Martha Beck, my mentor, used to say to me “how you do one thing you do everything.” With this in mind tracking shows me where I can be lackadaisical, where I give up too easily, it has shown me how I can lack concentration. My practice has handed me my shortfalls so that I may face them with tenacity. And I know what I develop in my practice becomes who I am in my life. I am developing my capacity for symphony…… My ability to allow seemingly unrelated parts of life come together. This quest for the sacred is of course more than that….. It's about living towards the track of my life. Today It's about hours alone in the heat on bad information. And who that makes you. It's about being willing to be inside of what calls me with the understanding that that’s how you become authentic. As you know my life has been defined by guiding. I worked first as a safari guide and then when my path pivoted I became a guide in ceremonial spaces. In both cases taking people into the wild or their own psyche the key was to know the terrain. You needed to have been there to those unknown places yourself. You needed to have been lost and found your way out. You needed to have scared yourself and become humble. You needed to make edges your new normals That’s how you became a guide. This understanding is what motivates me when after four hours I have not seen one fresh track. I walk past a beautiful impala lilly flowing in Miami pink against the dark bushveld. The koppie where I planned to sleep is off limits as someone has just sighted a leopard with a cub on it. I change my plan and drive south to another old platform in a tree called tingwe camp. The camp is set in a beautiful dry river bed…….dense with tamboti trees. As I arrive at dusk a family of bushbabies is leaping through the trees around the camp. Stop now and google bushbaby to meet a truly cool creature. Night is falling fast and the sky turns pink while the second the sun drops behind the horizon it gets cold. Up the river from me a pack of wild dogs has made a den in an old termite mound. Occasionally I hear the young pups squealing at their parents for meat. The night rushes in and with it cold. As I make the fire I feel terribly lonely. Solitude is both a gift and a trial. alone in the bush it can rattle your bones with its relentless presence. Before you ask yourself questions of spirit like. “am I on my mission” “am I living my purpose” you might ask how long you can be truly alone for with nothing to distract you.i don’t mean the thirty mins you schedule for your meditation. I mean hours and hours, no books, no journal, no podcast, nothing. The answer to that question may be an indication of if you are really ready for the other two. Around me the birds roost it clicks and tsks The fire starts and the night crashes onto me. Black. In the shadows of the fire there are ghosts of other nights I spent here. A July winter when I was 15 with my best friend. We had heard that beer was a taste you grew to like so we choked down beers every day in the hopes of becoming cool beer drinkers rather than the fruit cooler losers we were. Then We spent a lot of time trying to talk my older sisters friends into coming to sleep in our tree house so we could drink beers in front of them. In my twenties as safari guides on nights off we would come and sleep attingwe camp. by now we were beer drinking pros and I remember a night when a kind of wild fire dance culminated in about 20 of us covering ourselves in mud stealing back to the main lodge camp like special forces and abducting all other staff out their rooms to come and party with us. To be fair they didn’t resist much. In fact I recall a Land Rover full of muddy rangers, beautiful hostesses and other hostages packed to the brim. In the confusion of the raid someone had put a standing exercise bike on the bonnet of the land rover and now a ranger was pedaling it as it drove everyone back to the tree house The camp had been a place where many young guides in training had slept out in the wild for the first time. It was the place many young men and women under the stars for the first time had heard a lion roar at midnight. I tell you all of this because as I sat around that small fire last night…. I understood that part of why this spot is sacred to me is that it was dense with memory. It has held me through so many phases. In my immaturity it had held me and it had seen me grow from wayward to disciplined. And as I look back on it I don’t want to exclude that skullduggery from the sacred. I had been engaged to be married once….and after that fell apart I had come back to this spot fundamentally confused by the dilemmas of love and compatibility. If the arrow of time is not linear. If time is in fact a flat circle where everything is actually occurring simultaneously then as I sat by that fire I sat with versions of myself in time just a veil of perception away. And of course the insight that that produced was that the place had always been sacred…but only now from an inner awareness of what that may even begin to mean could I begin to perceive it. I tell you a silence fell as I felt the truth of this that was so intense it was like a force. The night held its breath. I sat in that intensity. Aware of a new quality in my own presence. I was aware that I was aware. The past gave way. the future froze. Was the sacred coming into me from the place or finally coming out me to make the place. All through the night that almost oppressive stillness remained. The star's crystal with cold above me. oppressive is the wrong word…..but never have i felt a calm of that intensity. Only once was the silence broken when a white faced owl called out. At times in the night I lay awake but without a single thought in my mind. the branches of the tree above me against the dark dimension of the sky looked like fronds of flat fan corral. At dawn a three legged hyena slunk eerily through the camp. I share this. And these recollections are a true part of the journey. And there is magic to being alone in the wild. But understand also that there is so much space between the magic.. where I am operating alone and self reliant. There is always the potential for danger and it is not so much romantic as it requires attention and the discomfort that comes with growth. I am pushing myself to seek the natural insights that come with time in unusual terrain. This is the work of making a symphony of wildness and solitude into growth and wisdom. I understand my own routines can also be ruts. I have to get outside of the bounds of normal life and see what I learn there if I ever want to comment on what it means to live. Wow i'm really not sure how to say this. Let me try this. When I was facilitating a lot of ceremony work……the schedule would be intense. A different group every night in a different city. Deep emotional process. Ptsd, abuse, visioning, rebirthing, deconstruction. Every night we sat for people and we held that space for healing and human making. I used to notice before the group I could be a total wreck. My girlfriend could have left me. I could have lost my bag. My own issues could be paramount but when I walked in that group the presence would come and no matter what was going on in my life a steady clear godforce was holding space. Man, that kind of experience leaves you wondering about the validity of your own problems. That they could plaque you all day and be gone instantly in the face of another's suffering or process. That work….. Like this work calls me forth in a way that makes me bigger than the smallest parts of myself. So yes I am searching for the sacred in wild places. But more than that I am trying to find what calls me forth. Because I feel like living towards that with motivation and discipline might be the sacred that is not a place. 40- out Boyd Varty Sacred Sites https://boydvarty.com/sacred-sites/ Connect with Boyd Varty: Website | https://boydvarty.com/ Instagram | https://www.instagram.com/boyd_varty/ Twitter | https://twitter.com/BoydVarty Find out more about Londolozi Website | https://www.londolozi.com/en/ Impact | https://londolozi.africa Instagram | https://www.instagram.com/londolozi/ Twitter | https://twitter.com/londolozi Facebook | https://www.facebook.com/londolozigamereserve/

Prior to Clarity, Dan was the co-founder of Flowtown (Acquired 11′), founder of Spheric Technologies (Acquired 08′). He has also been a mentor at 500Startups, GrowLabs & theC100.org. Favorite Success Quote “Become the person who can deal” ~Dan Martell Key Points 1. If You Want to Be a Millionaire You Have to Handle Million Dollar Problems Everyone wants to be a millionaire… But the problem is that most people aren’t able to handle million dollar problems. They want the outcome without the action. They want the reward without responsibility.  And this approach never works. Just take lottery winners for example. They immediately come into a windfall of cash with millions, sometimes tens of millions of dollars, but they never did a damn thing to earn that money. And five years after their success, studies have shown that they are often worse off than before they won. Why? Because their character didn’t backup their success. You have to earn what you want. If you want to become a millionaire, then you must become the kind of person who can provide millions of dollars of value and handle millions of dollars worth of problems. And quite frankly… Most of you reading this can’t. Yet… So go and focus on developing yourself and becoming the type of person who can handle the challenges and can provide the requisite value to achieve your goals. Because when you go after your goals with this mindset, success becomes all but inevitable. 2. Own It! I’m going to let you in on a little secret here… Shit happens. Life can be chaotic, things will not work out, businesses will fail, lovers will leave you, friends will turn on you… Shit just happens. And I’ll let you in on another little secret… It’s ok! Failure and frustration are an integral part of life, it’s not a question of if it will happen to you but how you will respond when it does. If you are like most people, you will try to pin the blame on someone else, you will deny the reality of your problems, and you will avoid addressing the situation until the last possible minute. But since you are listening to this podcast, you aren’t like most people. And therefore, you must own your problems. When shit happens… OWN IT. When a business fails, a girlfriend walks out, a friend gets angry, own the problem, own your part in the problem, and figure out what you can do moving forward to ensure that it never happens again. 3. Be Grateful for All You Have  150 years ago, if you wanted to go to Canada, you would have been forced to travel for months on end and risk death or serious injury. Today, you can fly there in a matter of hours. 100 years ago, if you wanted the information that we give away for free on this podcast, you would have had to track down each guest individually, convince them to speak with you, and then pick their brain for an hour or more (or at the very least found one of their books). Today… It’s only a mouse click away. You have a lot to be grateful for. We live in an age of unprecedented opportunity, ease, and access and 99% of the things that you take for granted on a daily basis would have dropped our ancestor’s jaws to the floor. We don’t have to hunt… We go to the grocery store. Most of us no longer work hard physical labor, we work at a cushy desk. And if we want to get somewhere, we can tap a button on our phone and have our own personal chafeur show up to our home in under 10 minutes! You have a lot to be grateful for. So starting today, be fucking grateful! Write down three things that you are grateful for each and every day and never lose sight of who you are and just how lucky you are to be alive in this day and age. 4. Be Yourself and Put it Out There  If you look at the most successful entrepreneurs in 2017, from the Tim Ferriss’s to the Grant Cardone’s to the Gary Vaynerchucks, you will notice one consistent factor. They are all completely and unapologetically themselves. They don’t care what other people think they don’t care who they offend, they show up in the world authentically and they put it out there for others to see. And if you want to create lasting success, you must do the same. Be who you are. Don’t apologize for it, and don’t ask permission for it. Be who you are and share it with the world. Some will love you, some will hate you, some won’t care and that’s ok. As long as you are living authentically and sharing your gifts and talents with the world, at the end of the day you can call yourself a success. 5.Think About The Long Game  In a society built upon instant gratification, you must be a man focused on the long game. Don’t look at the 1-5 year impact of your decisions, instead ask yourself, “What are the ramifications of this decision 20 years from now?” Because here’s a simple fact, 20 years from now you will arrive… The question is “Where”. Will you arrive in style because you were patient, played the long game, learned, grew, and invested? Or will you arrive chasing yet another shiny object because you lacked the discipline and the long term focus to make things work? The choice is yours.

Learn more at StreetSmartWealth.com Also, are you in my facebook group? streetsmartwealthschool.com  School has started for many and fall, which is a busy, productive time in Network Marketing if you’ll MAKE it that way, is headed straight at us. NOW, is the time to prepare your calendar and your productivity plan to make the most of it. So, let’s talk about how to Take Control of Your Calendar and Get Productive What You’ll Learn from this Episode: Your Clear Vision For Your Life and Business Your Calendar Getting Intentional With Your Calendar Social Media Consistency Manage Your Productivity Your Clear Vision For Your Life and Business One of the questions I am asked most frequently with my coaching and at events is how do I, personally stay on top in my business, continuing to create the lifestyle and income I want.  The answer is VERY simple and nothing magical - I stay in VERY consistent action. My calendar is scheduled, my priorities are set, and I know each day what I am going to do for that day. I follow a very rinse and repeat system and don’t allow my self to get bogged down when things don’t show up right away or when there are dry spells. Peaks and valleys happen. For Everyone! More than ANYTHING - my decision about WHAT I want is made; my vision is CLEAR; my belief is BUILT and I ACT! And, I practice gratitude for all that I have NOW, and all that is headed my way. I know you have it within you to achieve what you want. You deserve it. In fact, no one deserves it MORE than you.  When you launched your business, you in essence took out a promissory note - a note from the Bank of the Universe. You have a dream about your income goals, which translate to your lifestyle goals, right? Now, how to make that happen is the question, right? Your calendar will tell you what you are currently committed to. Actions always distinguish your true commitments. Not your words. Talk is cheap. Make sure your words are valuable... Once you’ve decided what you want, it doesn’t matter how many times you stumble or how long it takes. It is DONE. You just have to catch up. No need to re-think it. You will achieve this! You may fall 99 times but you’ll get up 100. You’ll keep pressing toward your goal because your decision is non-negotiable. That’s a clear and powerful place to be. “Either you run the day or the day runs you.” — Jim Rohn Your Calendar You are going to get committed to your calendar and blocking out times in it for actually working your business. If it's not on the calendar, it's not going to happen, and you won't ever FIND time, you must MAKE time. For the next week, keep a journal of how you spend ALL of your time. EVERY minute, and be honest. Facebook, TV, surfing the web, phone time, idle time. Success is not about huge chunks of time but rather small pockets of opportunity. Most people fail with exercise and health goals because they take the “All or nothing approach.” This is a big mistake. Learn the “Slight Advantage” philosophy. Small changes or habits, consistently practiced, create transformation. 15 Minutes can change your life. It has for me in terms of sculpting my body with 15-30 minutes daily of yoga or weight workouts.  First, get a daytimer/calendar that has plenty of room to write stuff in. If you are going to build it big, you need SPACE to fill with activities. Block off EVERYTHING that is non negotiable – work, church, car pool, kid and family activities. Now you have time slots to work with to schedule in your business activities. Determine what the income producing activities are that you need/should be doing daily to move your business forward. Email and Social Media, conference calls (listening to recordings) do NOT count. First Time Calls; Follow Up Calls; 3 Way Calls; Training; Networking Events; Follow Up after these (block time in calendar BEFORE!) Block time slots each day in your calendar for this FIRST. Working – lunch and short breaks; evenings. Starbucks or the parking lot. Block in times weekly/monthly for social media activities such as blog posts, live and video shoots, etc. Track your activities in a simple 3 ring binder or spiral notebook. Just write the date, and what you did/who you called/spoke with about your business. This will tell you why you are or are not successful. Determine your most productive/awake times of the day. Get committed and disciplined to check email 2-3 times daily, and not during productive time.  Don't answer the phone during Your Time. Only be on Facebook/Social Media 5 five to fifteen minute time slots daily. Use dead time spots for this while out and about with your mobile phone. Get in the habit of creating quick videos on your iPhone or smart phone; taking pictures of lifestyle, team events, etc. These are great for social media and your blog/site. Let go of perfection. Know what you are willing to give up in the short term to create what you want for the long term. Get kids involved as you can, in helping with your business and carrying their own weight around the house. Getting Intentional With Your Calendar Success starts with small steps and getting those small steps on your calendar go much further to making sure they are completed. What’s on the calendar gets done. A favorite mantra of mine. I’ve mentioned my commitment to 10,000 steps daily so this involves a walk first thing in the morning and positioning my daily action so to works for me. It clears my mind, or mental clutter, from focusing on it not being done yet. Then, I have a clear mind to focus on my business actions. Those consist of - Contacts Marketing Follow Up Content Creation - for marketing as well as my products. Workshops - live and online  Everything pretty much falls into one of those categories. So, my calendar reflects time blocks for each area each week, where necessary. How does your calendar look?  Easy to do, and easy not to do. There are no shortcuts, but then do you really need a shortcut? Build momentum as you grow your own consistency chain. Understand the power in your calendar and those single daily and weekly actions. Understand the timeline of success. Understand your philosophy, and the reality of CTFAR, and how it affects you. In order for things to change, YOU have to change. And, be the catalyst for your own change. Start now. Today. Don’t wait. ——- SOCIAL MEDIA Don’t let Social Media derail your business efforts. It’s meant to be an asset, not a liability. Develop a Daily/Weekly Strategy that takes about 30 minutes daily. Social Media does NOT have to be overwhelming, if you have a plan and a strategy. Like any other aspect of your business - PLAN it. Don’t forget it or disregard it. Social Media is no longer regarded as a Fad, or something you can dabble with. Well, of course you MIGHT choose to do this, but why?  Get my free content resource at content.StreetSmartWealth.me It’s the easiest way to stay top of mind with your Center of Influence. Here are some things to get clear on FIRST - the ABC’s -  Audience and Awareness- who is your ideal client. Ideally, create 3 specific targeted avatar’s. Get VERY specific. When you speak to everyone you speak to no one. Create awareness through your content. What’s Your Brand - more than colors and logos - WHO are you? What do you offer, or more specifically what solution do you provide to what challenge? From that, how will you create messaging that speaks to your ideal client. Content and connection - your content should be centered around your Brand and Your Ideal Client Avatars. And should be an 80/20 mix - not just all selling or business. Using Your Values and Mission is a great place to start. My 5 F words - almost EVERYTHING fits into one of those buckets. This way, I never struggle with content. And, I connect and engage regularly with those who are my target audience. Daily Strategy - Map out your plan, Seriously, plan it out. EXECUTE the strategy and stay consistent. It’s not designed to be an occasional thing - out of sight, out of mind. Follow Up - Take it OFFLINE regularly. Social Media is a piece of it and it’s strong, but be real and in person too. Get in their mailbox; get in their phone, and text. Invite them to events, and things you see that will benefit them Choose your platforms. You don’t have to be everywhere. My main 4 - FaceBook, InstaGram, LinkedIn, YouTube - and I’ve been on all of these sites since the beginning mostly, so if you are just getting launched, pick one or two. When my business thrives, I can look back in my calendar and in my Social Media activity and see one common thread - consistency. When my business has floundered, I can look back in my calendar and in my social media activity and see one common thread - lack of consistency. For most of us, in our solopreneur business, we need to be doing a few things ongoing - Finding people to add to our database. This means more than just plopping in names. It means meeting, engaging, building rapport and the start of a relationship; connecting on Social Media and expanding the relationship. Learning as much as I can about them; learning how I might be supportive and then opening the door to share my business and product offerings. Not just for them, but also for anyone they may feel comfortable referring my way. IT’s about building that really solid Top 100 COI. It’s follow up; and follow through; adding value in person, through direct mail; through Social Media and in ways that matter to them and make them feel special; appreciated; like more than a number. So I’ve come up with my own acronym for how I run my business and what’s important in it - BAMF - check the urban dictionary for another definition. I might start using the hashtag, just saying  Branding Audience Marketing Follow Up So, each day and each week I have to look at what I’m doing in each of these areas to be successful. What areas have you defined for your business? Consistency Get that calendar out; get serious, focused and committed and each day that you take that one action, write it on the calendar and begin to build that consistency chain for yourself. You’ve likely heard this before - One of the greatest predictors of the ability to succeed in life is persistence:“stick-to-it-ness” and it’s that attitude and personal culture and commitment that allows one to get through the inevitable challenges and obstacles that await us on the road to success. When we take a closer look at what’s really happening during the journey to success,  we quickly realize that success is anything but a straight line. It’s more a like a windy road of twists, turns, ups and downs, and testing and trying. It’s only when you become aware of all of those tangles and all the ups and down – it’s only when you can see what was really involved – that it becomes obvious what the real key to success really is. And that key is persistence; successful people don’t give up. They don’t view failure as a final curtain call; they view it as just another twist in the maze. They chalk it up to experience, learn whatever they can from it, and then they move on and try again. They don’t let fear, frustration, or wounded pride give them an excuse to quit. Things to think about - where are you falling short? Where are you persistent? Where do you only take it half way? Where do you procrastinate? If you were to write out a short, one page action plan of what you business requires for success, how does it line up with your calendar for the last few months? I’ve spent a lot of time myself over the last few months evaluating my own business, from start to now; what’s worked and where I have struggled and why. Consistency, laser focus and knowing what to say yes to, what to say no to, and what to take action on each day is key. I’ve laid out my clear plan for the future and I am excited about it. Here are some steps to take to be more consistent - Get clear. Get focused. And, by that, I mean TODAY. Today. Write down something you can do each day to move your business forward. Just one thing. And, make a commitment to do it TODAY It’s about letting go of tomorrow and focusing ONLY on today and the top priority for you today, in your business. IT’s about building that consistency chain and being committed to not breaking it. Manage Your Productivity What’s in your action plan?  What’s on the calendar? What’s between your ears? What’s it going to take? If it’s not on the calendar, its not going to happen or put out slightly differently, what’s on the calendar gets done.  So you have to make a time in your calendar for your income producing activities to move your business forward. Absolutely have to, and I say make a time as you never going to find a time. None of us do. Is not you got the time  around, everybody is busy.  You are no exception. Everybody is busy. Doesn’t matter what profession you are in. You’re most likely building a side hassle to begin with maybe not, or your building this is as primary business but you have many other obligations so does everybody else. So you have to manage your productivity.  And one other of piece of that is managing what is going on between your ears.  There is one place of your business is difficult and that is between your ears. —- Close and CTA I started with this and I’ll end with this - Once you’ve decided and committed to what you want, it doesn’t matter how many times you stumble or how long it takes. It is DONE. You just have to catch up. No need to re-think it. You will achieve this! You may fall 99 times but you’ll get up 100. You’ll keep pressing toward your goal because your decision is non-negotiable. That’s a clear and powerful place to be. Remember - decision, commitment, action, consistency - this is what provides the results you desire. That’s it. That is REALLY it. The most powerful thing I ever did for my business when I was struggling to get from zero to hero was to hire a coach. Someone who has been where I was, and has gone to where I want to go. I have 3 coaches right now for my business.  I would love to explore a coaching partnership with you, if you are struggling. Let’s schedule a break through call to see if we might be a fit. I love taking people with goals like mine from struggle to six figures, easily, and with joy in building something they love and that resonates with who they are and their values. 43: Moving your invoicing to the cloud

Clickstarter

Receipts everywhere. Bank statements flying in to your post office box. Bills mounting. And you have no idea where your business stands until after tax time when the accountant gives you the all clear. There is a better way. This is Clickstarter, I’m Dante St James. This is episode 43, and Day 9 of my daily series, April Foolproof Your Business. Today… It’s time to move your invoicing to the cloud. The time of writing your invoices out with a carbon copy book is over. It was actually over 20 years ago. But we won’t squabble over that small detail. If your invoicing and payments for invoices are out of control, it’s probably because you’re still trying to do it all manually on paper, or in an Excel spreadsheet. As you’d suspect, accounting and bookkeeping has come a long way in the last 20 years. You’ll probably be familiar with programs like Quicken or MYOB. They’ve been around a long time and have tended to dominate the accounts landscape of most established businesses. But they really do feel clunky and over-the-top for the average small business to use. This is where the current crop of Cloud Accounts systems come in. The top of the pile in terms of popularity is Quickbooks. With over 12 million users worldwide and huge fan base of both businesses and bookkeepers it’s miles ahead of the others. And with a solid 4.5 out of 5 on most review sites, it’s performing well in terms of the opinion of the people who use it most. The biggest pros about it are that it has pretty much everything you’ll ever need in a bookkeeping or accounts system and plenty of pro accountants and bookkeepers know and use it. The cons are that it’s often described as being a little hard to navigate with a design that isn’t very intuitive to move around for those who are used to using the web instead of using software that has been converted to work on the web. Next on the popularity pile is Accounting by Wave, also known as Wave Apps. It’s simple, free and used mostly by sole traders and home business users. Probably because it’s free. I personally have an issue with using a free app to handle my money because it just feels like your money handling is the one thing you should probably not be skimping on when it comes to cost and quality. That said, it’s got close to 9 million worldwide users and does a stellar job of handling your invoices, receipts, and gives handy notifications when things are read, paid or completed. But it is limited. If you want to process payments or do payroll on it, you’ll need to pay. Then there is Xero. Spelt with an X. I get a bit funny about Xero because I am instantly suspicious about any system that higher level users rave about, but whom lower level users complain about not being able to get decent support with. The way that Xero grows is by Accountants and Bookkeepers selling it to their clients. So it’s a little like network marketing. Or affiliate marketing. No that there’s anything wrong with that. I’d be nastier about it, but honestly, it’s not bad at all. It’s easier to use than Quickbooks. It’s more fully-featured than Wave and has integrations with almost everything. It’s a seriously good accounting package, handles payroll, handles payment processing, and has around 1.2 million customers. But it seems to rate overall way less than Quickbooks. Average ratings run from 75 to 80 out of 100 on most review sites, where Quickbooks rates over 90% on just about all of them. And while Quickbooks users don’t usually have anything bad to say about Xero, Xero users seem to be quick to badmouth Quickbooks. I’ve looked at both, I’m all… meh… it does invoices. And they both do solid jobs. Price wise they are similar, so I’m not sure why the hate on either of them. They’re both great products. I’m just not a fan of having my accountant or bookkeeper selling me software. My favourite of the lot of them is Freshbooks. To me, it’s easy, has plenty of power and does the job. That said, I’m about to outgrow it as I move...

Today It was important to emphasize what emotions really are and to put it into perspective. Once you see emotions as energy in motion and not something that defines you, the easier it will be for you to release these emotions when they come up. Emotions are not what you think, emotions are simply energy that needs to be felt through you, with your heart. You are the allower. Deep breathing allows these emotions to be released. By releasing these trapped emotions from your body you practically change the chemistry of your body, you have a completely different body. We find in Hebrews 3:1 that Jesus is called the Apostle (Verse 22) He is referred to as a High Priest of our profession. He was a "Sent One" from the Father to make atonement for the sins of the world. No other apostle (or sent one) will have that calling. #2. Apostles of the Lamb (Rev. 21:14). These were the twelve apostles who were eyewitnesses of Jesus' life, ministry, death, burial, and resurrection (Acts 1:21,22). This was their purpose - to witness Jesus' earthly ministry and to give testimony of His ministry to the world. No one, not even Paul, could be an apostle in the sense the original twelve were. #3. New Testament Apostles: This includes Paul and Barnabas as in Acts 14:14, The New Testament Apostles also includes several others like: (a) James the Lord's brother (Gal . 1:19). (b) Andronicus and Junia (Rom.16:7). (c) Silvanus and Timotheus (1 Thess. 1:1;2 :6). (d) Two unnamed brethren (2 Cor.8:23).* (e) Epaphroditus (Phil.2:25).* #4. Apostles of Today: It is important to note that there are no foundation-laying apostles today. The foundation has already been laid. The duty of the apostles of today is to build on the foundation already laid by Jesus Christ and by the apostles of the lamb. The work of the modern day apostle also includes founding and establishing local churches in the world; to go into new territory and pioneer churches where there are no churches.

When asked, “Do you trust God?” most Christians would answer with an emphatic “Yes!” Yet, if we’re honest, some of us still struggle in certain areas when it comes to trusting Him. That’s especially true when it involves our personal finances. From God’s perspective, what is the purpose of our money, what are we to do with it, and what are the blessings that await us? Today: It’s important for us to trust Him with our personal finances. (Luke 16:1-13)
