Episode 49: This Friday's interview is the 26th installment in the Entrepreneurship and Financial Literacy block of podcasts. It will focus on the theme Operating a Black-Owned Champagne Company. Our guest for this Friday is Marvina Robinson. She is the founder of Stuyvesant Champagne @stuyvesantchampagne. Growing up, Marvina's love affair with champagne began quite humbly as a college student. She and her friends would often pool their limited funds to purchase a bottle of Moet & Chandon, White Star. They frequented a liquor store on Fulton Street and St. James Place within the neighborhood she was raised. They would do the traditional toast, cheers and proudly sip out of their plastic cups. Although this Bottle of Nostalgia was discontinued, it stoked a love for champagne in Marvina's heart that would burn brightly until this day. M. Robinson desired her own brand of champagne to serve as the private house label for her upcoming champagne bar. In order to achieve that goal, she worked with a vineyard in France to create Stuyvesant Champagne. The first tasting of Stuyvesant Champagne was hosted by Suite 607 located in the Brooklyn Navy Yard. This was the first official tasting in the United States with invited guests. After receiving great feedback from the carefully selected attendees, she was able to confirm the two selections that would become the primary offering of Stuyvesant Champagne; a Rose and a Grand Reserve Brut. One of M. Robinson's fondest memories of champagne occurred in January of 2019 when she visited the famous Les Deux Magots in Paris, France. She sat outside in the cold, under a heated lamp, chatted with a fellow patron and sipped champagne as they did in the movies. M. Robinson has a zest for life and travels and hopes to bring a taste of home, spice and culture to the Champagne community. She is one of the few African American women owning a Champagne brand. Her love for her hometown, Bedford-Stuyvesant (Brooklyn, NY), inspired the name of her brand, Stuyvesant Champagne. She invites you to raise a glass and toast to the freshness of family and beginnings of a strong and fruitful relationship. He went on to graduate for the University of Texas School of Dentistry at Houston with a Doctorate of Dental Surgery. The impact that had on my confidence, and all parts of my life, was an experience I wanted to share with others. I am grateful when I am able to make a lasting difference in the lives of my patients. Believe it or not, it means just as much to me as it does to my patients when I see them smile with confidence for the first time in many years, or see them free from pain that has been hindering their day-to-day life. Being a dentist is, at the core, about helping others. Whether I am educating patients about oral health, supporting a person as they get past a very real fear of a procedure, or working with a patient to achieve and/or maintain their ideal smile - I know I'm helping. This Friday's interview is the 3rd installment in the Entrepreneurship and Financial Literacy block of podcast. It will focus on the theme How to Develop a Profitable Brand Using Music? Our interviewer will share her perspective on creating a lasting and sustainable brand around music. This Friday's guest on @theliberatorspodcast is Maya Angelle @mayaangellemusic Louisiana artist, Maya Angelle, combines classic soul influences with the urban contemporary sounds of today. Born in Jefferson Parish, LA., she was raised by a family of singers and musicians who provided early exposure to gospel music, jazz, and funk, which she would go on to blend with her own influences Lauryn Hill, Fantasia, Nas, and J. Cole. She embodies the originality and rich lyricism that is lacking in some of today's latest contemporary music. Maya has been said to take her creativity within her music very seriously. She says, “I take my time with my music; it has to be something I feel. When I feel it, I know someone else may equally relate.” A singer/musician since childhood, Maya was active in her church choir before she started making her own music. Her first official EP released in October of 2015 entitled Heart of A Lion, quickly following with the Late Night Sessions EP in May of 2016, both speaking of love and heartbreak. Late 2017, Maya Angelle released her single “The Real Me,” following with her single “Ice Water” in late 2018. In 2019, Maya released three EPs entitled Emotions, Mashed in the Covers, and ART. Her unique sound, that has been said to be incomparable with other artists, has established a fan base who seems to describe her as knowing how to “connect her thoughts through her lyrics and still make them original.” Some have even stated that “She has a deeper vibe than what's being put out right now”. When asked to choose one word to describe herself, Maya Angelle says that “lyrical” would fit best. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/theliberatorspodcast/support

This Friday's interview is the 9th installment in the Self-Construction Block of podcasts. It will center on the theme: The Role that Character and Integrity Plays in Achievement. Our interviewer will share a great wealth of wisdom on the pillars of integrity and character. This Friday's guest is Donald Sewell Jr. JD Donald Sewell Jr. was born in Virginia Beach, VA., where he and his younger sister were raised by their mother, who made it a constant point to remind them to "make something worth something of [themselves]." While they were not required to embark upon career paths in the most prestigious of fields, they were expected to attain a level of self-sufficiency and know-how in their field of choice. Donald initially had aspirations to enter the medical field to become an anesthesiologist; with this in mind, he focused on a way to achieve it. Foreseeing difficulties for a single mother to pay for two children to go to college, Donald got involved with JROTC in high school, catapulting him to ROTC in college. A month after graduating high school, he met with a Military Recruiter who informed him of a three and a half year ROTC Scholarship available at Xavier University of Louisiana. Donald had never heard of the University but knew it presented him the best chance of paying for most of his college expenses, as the schools he had been accepted to were still significantly costly despite his having been offered scholarships. So, Donald applied to Xavier, packed up everything and went to New Orleans on a hope that he would receive the scholarship; which he did, starting the Spring of 2011. Donald began Xavier in the Fall of 2010 majoring in Biology; the dream of going to medical school still burning strong. As he matriculated through his freshman and sophomore years, he became aware of his waning interest turned waxing obligation to be a part of the medical field. He viewed this change in mentality as a detriment to his chances of going to medical school. So in his junior year, in an attempt to diversify himself as a medical school applicant, he changed his major to English with a double minor in Biology and Chemistry. However, his interest in expression and the written word took control the remaining year at Xavier; for Donald graduated and was commissioned as an Army Officer in May and began attending Loyola University of New Orleans School of Law in the Fall of 2014. He graduated from Loyola in May of 2017, five months after becoming a Transportation Company Commander, which is his current occupation while studying to pass the Bar. Donald plans on becoming a patent lawyer but remains open to opportunities for further professional development, both expected and unexpected, as he never tries to close any open door providing the potential for growth. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/theliberatorspodcast/support
