It's been a LONG time coming back to the passion project, but I made sure that I came back with a great guest. I was able to talk with actress/recording artist/host LeToya Luckett on TWO separate occasions. First, we were both in New Orleans for the 2023 Essence Music Festival & Culture, a place she calls a second home. And more recently, she was a guest of the nationally syndicated radio show, Ryan Cameron Uncensored, before she hosted this year's Urban One Honors red carpet. She's an incredible friend, an always present friend, and a really chill woman to talk with. Grateful that this episode has FINALLY come out cause it's been on ice since last year! If you want to follow LeToya, you can see her on Instagram. I can't wait to see what projects she will have coming up, including an album! I want to apologize again for the delay between episodes, but I assure you that I have some more incredible guests & some great follow up episodes to come. I'm going to finish season 3 strong and looking to build an incredible 4th season this summer! --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/therealsix5/message

This is Paul and this week on The Joy of Cruising Podcast, I am delighted to welcome my good friends, Joan and Jim Sloan, of CouplesTravel. I wrote about Joan and Jim in my first cruising book, The Joy of Cruising amzn.to/2EAMddF in a section called “Cuba Cruising” which featured three very different couples sharing their perspectives on a cruise to Cuba. The Sloan's feature was called, Joan and Jim: Cuba and Jazz, detailing the first music charter cruise to Cuba. In February 2017 they ventured to Cuba on The Soul Cruise, a unique seven-day R&B-themed cruise branded as “The first ever soul music cruise from the United States to Cuba!” The cruise was on Fathom Adonia (now Azamara Pursuit). Cheryl and I have traveled a little with Joan and Jim—we spent time with them on a couple of trips to New Orleans for the annual Essence Music Festival. However, their travel often takes them on international journeys—cruises and land trips to exotic destinations still on my bucket list, like Africa and Switzerland. Joan and Jim have just returned from Egypt, and I can't wait to hear all the wonderful details. Hear why I refer to them as my "travel mentors."Welcome Joan and Jim to The Joy of Cruising Podcast.”Support the show

So far, tens of thousands of people have willingly followed Williams to that vista – including talk-show host Oprah Winfrey, and actor comedian Bernie Mac. From celebrity homes to small businesses, corporate offices and women's spas, Williams' original and lithograph artwork hangs from coast to coast. As the best-selling artist in the African-American print market, Williams is a popular personality at national art shows, conferences of African-American groups and major international events, including the Essence Music Festival. His art has been featured on television's “Law & Order” (NBC) and “Soul Food” (Showtime). A devoted Christian, Hank believes that a firm spiritual guidance can help an individual remain true to the mission of life and success. Welcome back to Don’t Alert the Stans! AND WE BACK! ISSA NEW SEASON! During the weekend of Essence Music Festival, I had the opportunity to sit down with the amazingly talented girls group June's Diary. We were introduced to these ladies on the BET original series "Chasing Destiny" in 2016, where they were handpicked by Kelly Rowland and Frank Gatson, Jr. to form the next group of chart topping singers. Five women (Ashly Williams, Brienna DeVlugt, Gabby Carreiro, Kristal Lyndriette, and Shyann Roberts) comprise this group, and they're each stars in their own right. In this episode, you will hear all about what they've been up to since the show aired, what they currently have in the works, the struggles they've had to overcome as a group, and so much more. As a fan, I was GEEKED to have a moment of their time. I know you will most definitely enjoy this one. So, let's get into it! Follow June's Diary on all things social @junesdiary.
RAHEEM DEVAUGHN Readies The Release of His Seventh Studio Album, "THE LOVE REUNION" - June 28th, 2019 (New York, NY - June 20th, 2019), Three-time Grammy Nominated and 2019 NAACP Outstanding Male Artist nominee, singer, songwriter, producer, actor and last but not least, philanthropic-pioneer, RAHEEM DEVAUGHN prepare for the release of his seventh studio album, "The Love Reunion". The anticipated album will be globally released on June 28th, 2019, via the SRG/DMG label imprint. "The Love Reunion" is led by the already Top 15 Billboard Chart hit single, "Just Right" (Testify), written by Raheem DeVaughn and produced by Tim Kelley (one half of the multi-award winning producers, Tim & Bob). "Just Right is an infectious anthem composed to celebrate not only women of black and brown color but all women globally," mentions Raheem. On Saturday, July 6th, Raheem will take over Center Stage at the 25th ESSENCE Music Festival in New Orleans. “Although this is album number seven that we’re calling The Love Reunion,” says RAHEEM of his surprise second release in eight months, “it’s a part-two to Decade of a Love King, which just came out in October. I never stop making music; I’m still working on finding new ways to use my instrument, so the best way to do that is to stay in the studio…that’s my refuge, my therapy and my sanity. [So] this Decade of a Love King trilogy has a lot of different tones and variations in it. When people go through albums six, seven, eight, and maybe nine and ten, they’re gonna be like `Wow, he gave us some real hardcore, new millennial R&B!’”

Facebook will now include a “paid for” label atop political ads, and also keep an archive of political ad data for seven years—the length of a congressional election cycle. Twitter will ban foreign-based advertisers from placing political ads on its platform -- it will also clearly identify and include disclaimers on political ads, as well as require political advertisers to use photos in the advertiser profiles as well as provide contact information. The two companies follow efforts by Google to improve its political ad transparency. The Internet Association is urging the Federal Election Commission to keep political ad regulations flexible. Homeland detected surveillance activity near “sensitive facilities” The Department of Homeland security reported suspicious surveillance activity near what it termed as “sensitive facilities”. In a letter to Senator Ron Wyden, Senior Homeland Security Official Chris Krebs wrote that the Department detected an “anomalous” use of Stingray devices—a device that law enforcement officers use to mimic cell towers in order to obtain device data. The problem is that Homeland doesn’t know or isn’t disclosing where the suspicious activity is coming from. The beautiful ballad is based on the comic book character, "Lois Lane" who's beau is no one other than Superman. The song was written by DeNarious Holmesand produced by Hamilton Hardin. "Every woman wants a strong man in their lives that makes them feel secure," mentions Porcelan. "The ideal fancy is to be swept off your feet and protected by a strong man who will rescue you from anything that can bring you harm, and Superman's love for Lois Lane, symbolizes that," she adds. PORCELAN is currently on her national promotional tour and has just been confirmed to perform at "Center Stage" at the 2018 Essence Music Festival in New Orleans this upcoming 4th of July weekend. ABOUT PORCELAN Porcelan, is a Memphis-made recording artist and songwriter on the rise who is ready to impact the world with her debut single, a beautiful piano ballad, “The Real Thing Don’t Change” co-written by producer and Hall of Fame songwriter David Porter and multi-instrumentalist Hamilton Hardin. Porcelan sang before an audience for the first time at the age of 10, and with abundant school choir solos to sharpen her natural desire for perfection, she would soon find her voice as a songwriter, performer, and first-time recording artist by the age of sixteen. Listeners most often make comparisons to some of the great female voices of our time, but with great humility lurking just beneath a fierce vocal range, Porcelan delivers her own version...every time.

Joey Womack is rebel with a cause. Analytics junkie. Optimist. Cynic. Serial envelope pusher. Cult creator. Superhero. Pick one, and that's Joey. His life's purpose is to equalize socio-economic disparities in communities around the world; with a goal to help 1 billion people by the year 2039. Joey was bitten by the entrepreneurial bug in 2002 when he launched digitalguestlist.com as a graduate student at Florida A&M University. The site grew to 80,000 subscribers/users, and advertised thousands of events for Fortune 500 companies, agencies, and high-profile promoters during special events weekends like NBA All-Star Weekend, Super Bowl, and Essence Music Festival. He also used innovative digital marketing strategies to execute events in the Southeast for brands such as Crown Royal, Ciroc, Smirnoff, Coors Light, Warner Bros., and Hennessy. You'll Learn: How a summer program at Tuskegee University started Joey down his entrepreneurial path. How Joey has been using technology to solve large-scale social problems. The common pitfalls that trip up most startups. Why Joey is so staunchly against censorship on Facebook despite the scourge of #FakeNews. 3 Key Points: Focus on core values and surround yourself with like-minded people. Businesses exist to solve problems, but most new entrepreneurs fail to diagnose the proper problem. The online segregation of people into silos for marketing purposes causes division and makes it difficult to punch through people's echo chamber. Born and raised in Oakland, California, Khari first began writing poetry as a young child while living in foster homes. He transitioned from poet to spoken word artist in 2006, and won several poetry slams for his performances. In 2006, he went on to publish a poetry book, release a spoken word mixtape, and performed at some of the top spoken word venues in the country, including Spoken Soul Sessions in New Orleans during the Essence Music Festival, Nuyorican Poets Café in New York, Soul Cypher in Oakland and Cafe Nuba in Denver. In 2010, Khari released his first official album, Victory, fusing spoken word, neo-soul, jazz, gospel and hip hop. In 2014, Khari released his sophomore spoken word album, Through Thick and Thin, as well as his book, Curvy and Confident, which is a self-empowerment guide for women to help them overcome low self-confidence, negative body image, and insecurities. Khari is also the creator of the "Curvy and Confident" page on Facebook which has over half a million followers.
It's been said that the most brilliant writers have experienced the most tragedy, and from the pain of their past experiences they are transformed into poets who paint pictures with words. Khari is a living testimony to this truth! Born and raised in Oakland, California, he first began writing poetry as a young child while living in foster homes. Poetry was his therapy, an outlet that allowed him to purge his mind of the pain he endured as a youth. His transition from literary poet to spoken word artist occurred during the summer of 2006, when he began performing at open mics and winning several poetry slams hosted by Hot Water Cornbread. His keen intellect, passionate flow and delivery, powerful voice and brazen lyrics quickly distinguished him from many other performance poets and spoken word artists. He exploded onto the Spoken word poetry scene during the summer of 2006 after performing at Mouth Off (a spoken word poetry venue held at Oakland's Air Lounge every Wednesday). He also began participating in the local poetry slam scene in 2006. Now, three years later, he's published a best selling poetry book, releasing over 20,000 spoken word mixtapes and performed at some of the top spoken word venues in the country, including Spoken Soul Sessions in New Orleans during the Essence Music Festival, Nuyorican Poets Café in New York, Soul Cypher in Oakland and Cafe Nuba in Denver. Within a three year period, he's performed at over 100 different venues and is currently in high demand to perform and feature at major spoken word events. In 2014, Khari released his sophomore spoken word album, "Through Thick and Thin." He also released a book, "Curvy and Confident," a self-empowerment guide for women. Curvy and Confident is the first book ever written by a man to help women overcome low self-confidence, negative body image, and insecurities

With rising education costs and failing schools; is this the land of the free or land of corporate America and a new Cast system? Jobs require a more technically skilled work force that are trained in the sciences, engineering, technology and math but America is falling behind in producing college graduates in all of these areas. How can we maintain our economic dominance and technological lead without these types of students? Having a Trillion Dollar Debt to China doesn't feel like independence to me.
