“This is our day to shine.” Not tomorrow, not in easier circumstances, not when life finally evens out. Today. But the temptation is to believe that it would be easier to shine if life was a bit easier. Paul talks about that temptation in Philippians 1:27: “Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ.” Whatever happens (good or bad, easy or hard, expected or surprising) Paul is saying that shining in the light of Christ is not about the absence of pain. It is about the presence of meaning.Become New is here to help you grow spiritually one day at a time.TEXT US at 855-888-0444EMAIL US at connect@becomenew.comGET OUR WEEKDAY EMAILS WITH EXTRA GOODIES at becomenew.com/subscribeGET A TEXT REMINDER FOR NEW VIDEOS: text BECOME to 855-888-0444SEND US PRAYER REQUESTS: via text or email; we'll send you a written prayer from our team

Some things change with the times—but God's financial principles never do. They're not only timeless; they work in every situation, for every person, at every income level.Whether you're barely making ends meet or managing significant wealth, the Bible's wisdom for handling money is always right on target. Today, Ron Blue will unpack five proven principles for managing your money well.Ron Blue is a nationally recognized financial expert, co-founder of Kingdom Advisors, and author of more than 20 books on biblical money management. With decades of experience advising families and leaders, he has dedicated his life to equipping Christians to manage their resources wisely and steward them for God's kingdom purposes.A Lesson From the Senate FloorBack in the early 1990s, Ron Blue was invited to testify before a U.S. Senate subcommittee on family and money matters. When asked what advice he would give American families, his response was simple yet profound:Spend less than you earn.Avoid debt.Build liquidity or margin.Set long-term goals.Give generously. To Ron's surprise, the senator responded, “That would work for every family—at any income level.” Ron smiled and added, “Yes, Senator, including the United States government.”These five principles, he says, are universal. They apply not just to families, but also to businesses, communities, and even nations.Principle 1: Spend Less Than You EarnThis is the foundation of wise financial decision-making.It's the “slow road to wealth,” but it's also the surest way to financial freedom. This principle enables families to establish stability without pursuing risky shortcuts or falling into the trap of trying to become wealthy quickly.Principle 2: Avoid DebtDebt can be both a practical and spiritual burden. From a financial standpoint, debt always mortgages the future. Any borrowed money becomes a priority expense—one that takes precedence over all others until it's repaid. Not all debt is created equal—some can be strategic, like a mortgage—but even “good” debt ties up future income and limits financial flexibility.Principle 3: Build Liquidity (Margin)Margin is what allows families to weather life's inevitable surprises—a medical bill, car repair, or job loss—without spiraling into crisis.People with cash flow margin are always more secure. They know they can meet the unexpected, and that creates peace of mind and security. An emergency fund isn't just about financial stability; it's about emotional and spiritual calm when life throws curveballs.Principle 4: Set Long-Term GoalsShort-term thinking often leads to financial stress and impulsive decisions. By setting long-term goals, families can prioritize spending and align their financial choices with their values. The longer term your perspective, the better your decision today. Goals give direction and help families measure progress—not just in wealth, but in stewardship and Kingdom impact.Principle 5: Give GenerouslyFinally, generosity breaks the power of money. Jesus taught that we cannot serve both God and money (Matthew 6:24). By giving, we release our grip on wealth and keep our hearts anchored in Christ rather than in material security.Generosity is the only way to break money's hold on you.Timeless Wisdom for Every HouseholdWhether you're just starting your financial journey or seeking a reset, these five principles offer a roadmap to freedom and peace. They are not about complicated strategies or quick fixes—they're about faithful, steady stewardship rooted in biblical wisdom. If you do these five things, you'll position yourself for God's best in your finances. On Today's Program, Rob Answers Listener Questions:I recently started a new job, but I still have a 401(k) from my previous employer. Since I'm over 55, I was told I can withdraw from it without a penalty. My husband thinks we should withdraw $15,000 to cover some home repairs, but I'm nervous about dipping into my retirement savings.I'm 51 and planning to retire at the end of next year. I have a state pension, along with several 401(k) and 403(b) accounts I've accumulated over the years. What's the best way to handle these accounts once I retire? My husband and I have been married for 12 years, and we have a prenup that keeps our finances separate. I have around $700,000 in savings and a terminal illness. How should I decide how much to leave for my husband and how much to give to the Lord?I've had a reverse mortgage since 2010, and my house has increased significantly in value. I'd like to know how much equity I can access now and whether I need to refinance, or if it's possible to expand my line of credit simply.Resources Mentioned:Faithful Steward: FaithFi's New Quarterly Magazine (Become a FaithFi Partner)FamilyLife | FamilyLife BlendedWisdom Over Wealth: 12 Lessons from Ecclesiastes on MoneyLook At The Sparrows: A 21-Day Devotional on Financial Fear and AnxietyRich Toward God: A Study on the Parable of the Rich FoolFind a Certified Kingdom Advisor (CKA) or Certified Christian Financial Counselor (CertCFC)FaithFi App Remember, you can call in to ask your questions most days at (800) 525-7000. Death is an inevitable part of life, yet it is often a topic we shy away from.In The Afterlife Mentor, psychic medium Kathy Lather offers a compassionate and insightful guide to understanding death and the afterlife. Drawing on her personal experiences and over twenty years of practice, Kathy shares comforting stories of her encounters with the spirit world, including visits to Heaven and messages from departed loved ones. This book offers hope and healing for those grieving loss, facing a terminal diagnosis, or seeking peace about what happens after we die. Through real-life stories and spiritual wisdom, Kathy shows us that death is not an end, but a transition to deeper connection with the spiritual realm and our guardian angels.Whether you're seeking comfort, clarity, or simply peace of mind, The Afterlife Mentor provides a path to healing and understanding in the face of life's greatest mystery.BioI am Kathy Lather, and I conduct psychic readings, healings and workshops on how to bring happiness, love and security to my client's lives, all with the help of their Angels.I was not fully aware of the amazing connection and how to use it to help others,  until a few weeks before my 40th Birthday when I met Archangel Michael for the first time.  Since then the Angels have been in my life helping me to connect with people through readings, healings and workshops. I love being able to teach others to discover their amazing spiritual journey and all that is available to them.  I have written a book, The Afterlife Mentor -  a psychic medium's practical emotional and spiritual guide to death. A book that discusses death. Over my many years of providing readings, I have received many of the same questions about this topic. So with the help of my angels, I was guided to write what I have been shown, taught and know to be true.  I am hoping it will help people in this lifetime to discover more about life and death.https://www.angelconnections.com.au/https://www.facebook.com/angelconnectionskathyhttps://www.instagram.com/angelconnections_kathyhttps://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DP1RCDZ5 https://www.pastliveshypnosis.co.uk/https://www.patreon.com/ourparanormalafterlifeMy book 'Verified Near Death Experiences' https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DXKRGDFP

Welcome to our final lesson in the Book of Malachi! We explore the myriad questions posed in the book, that feel a bit like a courtroom-like dialogue between God and the Israelites. The timeless nature of Malachi's message resonates across eras by highlighting Israel's pattern of unfaithfulness and connecting it to our own lives. The dense concentration of questions throughout Malachi, up to chapter 3, starkly contrasts with chapter 4 which contains no questions, signaling a shift from inquiry to God's final judgment. Acknowledging God's love, as outlined in Malachi, encourages us to see the ongoing work of God in our lives and the world around us. The Israelites questioned God's love and justice, despised worship practices, and failed to honor God in their daily lives. The answers to the questions in the book of Malachi reveal their shortcomings and guide us towards a faithful relationship with God. The book of Malachi further explores the theme of justice versus grace; as Scripture teaches us, true justice is met only through the grace offered by Jesus. Repentance and confession are essential to understand God's grace. Justice is found through Jesus. The crucial question “How shall we return to You, Lord?” encapsulates the hope of returning to God by recognizing His unchanging nature and engaging with scripture. Stephanie discusses the path to God through spiritual disciplines, offering a free video course, "Pathways to God's Presence,” to deepen this understanding. Make sure to grab your full video course at https://www.gospelspice.com/pathways In the context of the intertestamental period, Malachi's teachings reverberated through four hundred years until John the Baptist's emergence. Stephanie reminds us of historical insights, drawing parallels with significant events and figures like Alexander the Great and the Roman conquest, to contextualize Malachi's message within the fabric of time. Through Malachi 4, God promises ultimate justice and restoration, symbolized by the "sun of righteousness." Here, the imagery of wings is a protective symbol throughout Scripture, which we will compare it to Jesus' teachings. The notion of God's impending judgment is juxtaposed with the promise of protection and healing for those who revere God's name. In the context of the upcoming silence of four hundred years, God's last words offer a solemn warning blended with hope. Through Jesus, who embodied the curse and offered grace, our path was paved for redemption. Malachi invites us to ponder whether we stand beneath the protective wings of the Savior, or risk facing the blazing sun of righteousness without His grace. Malachi today challenges us to live as messengers of faith, rooted in grace through Christ, and eager to spread God's love. Details and registration here: https://www.gospelspice.com/prayer  There are a few things in our Christian life that we know we should do more, or at least better – and prayer just might top the list. Prayer is a mystery. Why would a conversation with a human have any influence on God's eternal, sovereign plan? It defies logic, and beckons love. How can God, the Almighty Lord of Hosts, be this close, this personal? It defies understanding, and beckons involvement. But, lack of time, inspiration, and discipline, combined with the ruthless tyranny of our busy lives, push prayer to the periphery, to the “one day I'll get to it” pile. And yet, we can excel at what we endeavor to undertake. So, why isn't prayer more of a spiritual priority? Could we develop a mindset around prayer that made it attractive, inspiring, even maybe delightful? What if we attuned our spiritual ears to listen to God, and our spiritual eyes to see His provision? As an unassuming student, I'm going to humbly offer to share the little I have learned from others about the joy of prayer. I will give us theology, practical tips, and useful resources, sharing what works for me as we, together, learn to pray. If you find prayer intimidating, or if your lack of prayer makes you feel guilty or “less than,” then this is the place for you! If you have been a student of prayer for many years, this is the place for you too! If you have breath in your lungs, then prayer can become one of the deepest joys of your day. Don't miss out! A PERSPECTIVE ABOUT PRAYER To pray is to believe that God not only hears, but that He responds. It is to stand in the gap for a broken world, wielding the authority of Christ, empowered by the Spirit, and trusting in the goodness of the Father. The question is not whether prayer works, but whether we are willing to pray the kinds of prayers that invite God's Kingdom into the darkest places of the earth—and of our own hearts. We may never fully understand the mechanics of prayer, or how it intersects with God's sovereignty, but we are not called to understand everything. We are called to be faithful. And faithfulness means showing up—in prayer, in persistence, in expectation. So today, let us pray not only for the comfort of our hearts, but for the transformation of the world. Let us take our place as image-bearers, co-laborers, and co-heirs. Let us believe that God is still listening—and still acting. Because He is. There's only one way to find out what might happen when we truly pray like this. Let's begin. THE MINDSET BEHIND THIS COURSE Before we begin, let me tell you the obvious: I don't really know how to pray. I'm a humble student and absolute beginner at the holy endeavor that is prayer. So, I'll share what I learned from them. Humility is going to be our primary heart posture! With each lesson, I will offer a few thoughts, practices, and ideas – with much humility, and not taking myself too seriously. I will also share her favorite books and resources about prayer. FInally, I will introduce you to some of the most influential prayer warriors of our history as the Body of Christ. Most importantly, I will invite YOU to pray! Learning to pray comes from praying. Our humble ambition is to inspire you to pray, and to give you a few tips on how to do that. Then, it's up to you! Prayer is a lifelong endeavor. Let's make it delightful together! JOHN 7:25-52 - LIVING WATER - BRIAN SUMNER - 2025"25 Now some of them from Jerusalem said, “Is this not He whom they seek to kill? 26 But look! He speaks boldly, and they say nothing to Him. Do the rulers know indeed that this is [a]truly the Christ? 27 However, we know where this Man is from; but when the Christ comes, no one knows where He is from.”28 Then Jesus cried out, as He taught in the temple, saying, “You both know Me, and you know where I am from; and I have not come of Myself, but He who sent Me is true, whom you do not know. 29 But I know Him, for I am from Him, and He sent Me.”30 Therefore they sought to take Him; but no one laid a hand on Him, because His hour had not yet come. 31 And many of the people believed in Him, and said, “When the Christ comes, will He do more signs than these which this Man has done?”32 The Pharisees heard the crowd murmuring these things concerning Him, and the Pharisees and the chief priests sent officers to take Him. 33 Then Jesus said to them, “I shall be with you a little while longer, and then I go to Him who sent Me. 34 You will seek Me and not find Me, and where I am you cannot come.”35 Then the Jews said among themselves, “Where does He intend to go that we shall not find Him? Does He intend to go to the Dispersion among the Greeks and teach the Greeks? 36 What is this thing that He said, ‘You will seek Me and not find Me, and where I am you cannot come'?”37 On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. 38 He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.” 39 But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing in Him would receive; for the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.40 Therefore many from the crowd, when they heard this saying, said, “Truly this is the Prophet.” 41 Others said, “This is the Christ.”But some said, “Will the Christ come out of Galilee? 42 Has not the Scripture said that the Christ comes from the seed of David and from the town of Bethlehem, where David was?” 43 So there was a division among the people because of Him. 44 Now some of them wanted to take Him, but no one laid hands on Him.45 Then the officers came to the chief priests and Pharisees, who said to them, “Why have you not brought Him?”46 The officers answered, “No man ever spoke like this Man!”47 Then the Pharisees answered them, “Are you also deceived? 48 Have any of the rulers or the Pharisees believed in Him? 49 But this crowd that does not know the law is accursed.”50 Nicodemus (he who came to Jesus by night, being one of them) said to them, 51 “Does our law judge a man before it hears him and knows what he is doing?”52 They answered and said to him, “Are you also from Galilee? Search and look, for no prophet has arisen out of Galilee.”To support this channel and partner with Brian in Ministryhttps://www.briansumner.net/support/For more on Brianhttp://www.briansumner.nethttps://www.instagram.com/BRIANSUMNER/https://www.facebook.com/BRIANSUMNEROFFICIALTo listen to Brians Podcast, click below.https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast...Purchase Brians Marriage book at https://www.amazon.com/Never-Fails-Da...Brian is a full time "Urban Missionary" both locally and internationally with a focus on MISSIONS - MARRIAGES - MINISTRY. Since coming to faith in 2004 doors continued opening locally and internationally to do more and more ministry with a focus on Evangelism, Outreach Missions, Marriage, Counsel, Schools, Festivals, Conferences and the like.  Everything abouSupport the showSUPPORT THE SHOW

Preaching, says Heath Hardesty, should do more than explain a passage of Scripture - it should take listeners on a journey that awakens thirst and points them to the living water of Christ. In this session, recorded at Valley Community Church in Pleasanton, California, Hardesty unpacks how the “arc” and the “through-line” of expository preaching bring sermons into harmony with the larger story of redemption.Drawing from John 7:37–39, he demonstrates how faithful exposition stirs a Spirit-given sense of need and satisfies the soul's ache in the gospel. The teaching weaves together theology, cultural insight, and pastoral wisdom, offering a vision of preaching that is unified, Spirit-led, and Christ-centred.About Heath HardestyHeath Hardesty serves as Lead Pastor of Valley Community Church in Pleasanton, CA, and is a founder of Inklings Coffee & Tea in the heart of downtown Pleasanton. He grew up in a blue-collar home and was a plumber's apprentice in Colorado before becoming a pastor on the edge of Silicon Valley, where he, his wife, and their four children now reside. Heath holds degrees in literature, leadership, biblical studies, and theology from the University of Colorado Boulder and Western Seminary in Portland. His forthcoming book, All Things Together: How Apprenticeship to Jesus Is the Way of Flourishing in a Fragmented World (with a foreword by Jon Tyson), will be released October 14, 2025.Pre-Order Heath's Book Here: https://www.penguinrandomhouse.com/books/776336/all-things-together-by-heath-hardesty/For information about our upcoming training events visit ExpositorsCollective.com The Expositors Collective podcast is part of the CGNMedia, Working together to proclaim the Gospel, make disciples, and plant churches. Did you know: The United States has a very high incarceration rate compared to many other countries, meaning a larger proportion of its population is held in prisons or jails? Did you know: As of early 2025, there were around 1.8 million people incarcerated in the US. Do you understand that millions more are in a mental prison and struggling to be ALIVE? Did you know that the recidivism rate (people who get out of prison and go back inside within 10-years) is over 50%. However, when we teach people how to think and connect them to a higher purpose those rates drop drastically. Today On Like It Matters Radio Mr. Black wants to go into the 3’s of Prison. From sound, rhythm, and church design to false manifestations of the Spirit, this conversation goes deep into what many believers are sensing—but few are talking about.Whether you're questioning what you've experienced in certain church environments or you're beginning to see patterns that don't line up with Scripture, this conversation brings discernment and clarity.**Trigger Warning:** This episode discusses themes related to spiritual abuse, deception in religious systems, and SRA trauma. We often think of spiritual growth as a matter of passion, inspiration, or a “big breakthrough” moment. But the truth is, most of your spiritual transformation will not happen in a single dramatic encounter—it will be the product of habits you choose, day after day, that quietly shape your heart toward God.If you think about it, habits are simply repeated actions that become second nature over time. And if our goal as disciples is to become more like Jesus, we must intentionally form habits that align us with His heart and His ways. Our springboard for today's discussion is:“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.” — Romans 12:2 (ESV)Developing godly habits begins with renewing the mind. Your thought life fuels your choices, and your choices create patterns. If your mind is being shaped by worldly voices more than God's Word, your habits will reflect that influence. But if you immerse yourself in Scripture, prayer, worship, and godly fellowship, your spiritual reflexes will begin to change.Start small. It's tempting to think you need a massive overhaul all at once, but lasting transformation comes from steady steps. If you're inconsistent in prayer, start with ten intentional minutes each morning. If Bible reading feels sporadic, commit to one chapter a day. These habits will not feel natural at first, but over time, they will become part of the fabric of your life—automatically guiding your responses, your relationships, and your decisions toward God's will.Understand this: ungodly habits do not disappear just because you stop them. They must be replaced. If you want to remove a pattern of worry, replace it with a habit of thanksgiving. If you want to stop speaking words of complaint, replace them with words of blessing. Spiritual discipline isn't about deprivation—it's about transformation.Godly habits are your training ground for the moments when your faith is tested. They keep you anchored when emotions fluctuate, when trials come, and when the enemy whispers lies. These rhythms create a spiritual reflex—so that when life squeezes you, what comes out is the fruit of the Spirit, not the residue of the flesh.Question of the Day:Which one godly habit do you need to start—or strengthen—this week?Mini Call to Action:Write it down, pray over it, and take one practical step toward putting it into action today.Prayer:Father, thank You for giving me the ability to form habits that honor You. Help me to choose rhythms and disciplines that draw me closer to Your heart and anchor me in Your truth. Replace old patterns that lead me away from You with habits that keep me in step with Your Spirit. Give me perseverance when it feels difficult, and joy as I see transformation take root. In Jesus' name, Amen.Let's Get To Work!Transformation doesn't happen by accident—it's built, one godly habit at a time.My Reasons To Believe is a reader-supported publication. This sermon unpacks the opening of Mark's Gospel, showing how John the Baptist prepared the way for Jesus as foretold by the prophets. At His baptism, Jesus is revealed as God's beloved Son, empowered by the Spirit, and set on a mission that would lead to the cross and victory over sin and Satan. The preacher emphasises the urgency of repentance and belief, reminding us that the gospel is the true good news and the only hope for salvation. Christianity is not a partial commitment but a call to make Christ the central authority and organising principle of our lives. The message concludes with a clear challenge: today is the time to repent, believe, and live under the kingship of Jesus.

Does Your Work Need A New Story? with Dr. Tom Nelson

What if your work isn't just a job—but part of God's bigger story for your life? For some, work is a source of stress, struggle, or simply something to endure. But what if we're seeing it all wrong? What if God designed work to be a vital part of how we worship Him and serve others? Dr. Tom Nelson joins us today to talk about that. Dr. Tom Nelson is the President of Made to Flourish and has served as the Senior Pastor of Christ Community Church, a multi-site congregation across Kansas City, for over 30 years. He is also the author of Why Your Work Matters: How God Uses Our Everyday Vocations to Transform Us, Our Neighbors, and the World.False Narratives About WorkCulture tells us many things about work—most of them untrue.“Thank God it's Friday” reflects the belief that work is a curse and that our real lives happen only on weekends.Work as mere productivity reduces our calling to a paycheck or to-do list.Sacred vs. secular divide suggests ministry work matters more than other vocations. However, if we return to Genesis 1 and 2, we find that work is not a curse. Work is God's good design. Whether paid or unpaid, our work is part of how we glorify Him.The Four-Chapter Story of WorkDr. Tom Nelson uses a “four-chapter” framework to show how the Bible shapes a proper view of work:Creation – What Ought to Be. God designed work as a gift and a reflection of His image. Work and worship were never meant to be separate. The Fall – What Is. Sin corrupted work, introducing toil, frustration, and broken relationships.Redemption – What Can Be. Through Christ, our work can be redeemed. Whether changing diapers, leading a company, or volunteering, we bring God's presence into every environment.New Creation – What Will Be. One day, we will experience work in its perfect form—creative, joyful, and without sin—in God's restored Kingdom. One of the most transformative ideas to remember is that all work done for God's glory is sacred. Work is contribution, not just compensation. We carry God's presence with us into our workplaces because the Holy Spirit dwells within us.This perspective breaks down the artificial barrier between “spiritual” and “secular” work. It gives believers a seamless life of worship—Sunday through Monday.Hope for the FutureWe won't spend eternity sitting on clouds. Revelation offers us a glimpse of a garden city where we will worship Jesus and engage in creative, joyful work—free from sin, frustration, and the need for perfect relationships with God and others. If you've believed that your work doesn't matter, be encouraged that you were created with work in mind. God is with you in your work. When you embrace Jesus and become His apprentice, you'll learn to live a seamless life where every task, big or small, can glorify Him.Dr. Tom Nelson's latest book, Why Your Work Matters: How God Uses Our Everyday Vocations to Transform Us, Our Neighbors, and the World, is available wherever books are sold. This Labor Day weekend, James shares a reminder that our work is not separate from our faith — it's central to it. From the beginning, God gave work as a gift. Genesis tells us that man was placed in the garden to work and take care of it and Paul reminds us in Romans 12 that offering our “everyday, ordinary life” — our going-to-work, eating, sleeping, and walking-around life — is true worship before God.   Work is more than productivity; it's creativity, discovery, and an opportunity to partner with God in renewing culture. Whether you're in education, hospitality, health or leading in your industry, your work matters. It is holy to the Lord.   As we celebrate Labor Day, this message invites us to see our workplace as our worship space, and to live with fresh faith that God's Spirit is poured out not only in church services, but in boardrooms and classrooms. Our Monday is as sacred as our Sunday, and God is writing His story through our everyday.
