Accountability In Your Daily Life Robert Hunt Today, we are going to be talking about “Accountability,” especially in the life of a believer who is operating in a secular work environment. That could be in a corporate job or self-employed. You could be the CEO of a major corporation or an “online entrepreneur. Accountability will make sure you “get the job done.” Amen. My guest today is here to help us understand exactly that! Amen! Robert Hunt is business owner and forum leader and Executive Coach of the “Renaissance Executive Forum Dallas (or REF DFW). He has been in Marketing and Sales most of his career, but in 2013, he decided to transition his focus into helpingbusiness owners and CEO's by taking part in monthly “peer to peer to peer” advisory groups for CEOs and business owners. As a Christian, he wants to live his life following Christ, help others and have fun along the way. Amen!He is also the author of the book, “Nobody Cares Until You Do.”Help me welcome to the program, Robert J. Hunt! Robert, thank you for taking the time to join us today!First question I always start with is this… other than that brief information I just shared, can you tell us in your own words, “Who is Robert J. Hunt?”I notice one of the first things you share is “Nobody can hold anybody accountable.” As an accountability coach, can you explain what it is you mean by that statement?Managing a business is hard. There are so many external factors that someone has no control over (i.e. “the economy”) – but then, there are things that they DO have control over… Do you find that a lot of people, especially in business, try to “shift the blame instead of accepting the blame” when it comes to problems that arise in their business? What about owners who want to be “micro-managers?” Those who want to delegate tasks, but then want to be involved in every detail of the assigned tasks? When someone comes to you for help or to join your group, do you find that a lot of them are just “overloaded” and stressed out – seeking some sort of help? You share that “living out your Faith is great for your mental health.” Share how that is true…As a Christian CEO, how should we balance “grace with accountability” in the area of discipline and possibly having to let someone go (i.e. terminate their employment)? You have a list of the “Top Five Things Great CEO's Do.” Can you share that list with us?- Always learning- Make decisions- Own the decision (accountability)- Intentional to invest in their teams- Drive resultsWhat about sharing our Faith in the workplace. Obviously, there IS work to do… but how do you recommend leaders should do this?Tell us about your book, “Nobody Cares Until You Do.”Can you tell us about your coaching / accountability organization?Robert, this has been so fascinating. If someone wanted to reach out to you, to ask a question, etc., how can they do that? How can someone get in touch with you?I take it your book, “Nobody Cares Until You Do,” is on Amazon?I'll put links to all of this in the show notes below.Folks, accountability means more than “being accountable” for our actions. It means being accountable to God. Being accountable to our co-workers. Being accountable to our spouse and family. But, as you have heard, being more accountable for ourselves. Amen! This wisdom will help you to overcome whatever it is plaguing you right now, too. Amen! Gary is recognized as being one of the Top 100 of the nation's thought leaders in management and leadership, as ranked by the Leadership Excellence magazine. Because of his expertise, Gary has been interviewed numerous times and is often quoted by national and local media for newspaper and magazine articles, as well as for podcasts, radio, and TV interviews. Help me welcome to the program, Gary Harpst!  Gary, I've been waiting for this interview ever since we first started talking about it, brother!  Thank you for joining us today! First question I always start with is this. Other than that brief information I just shared, Can you tell us in your own words, “Who is Gary Harpst?” I mentioned in the opening, that you help people not to just beat the chaos in our lives and business, but how to use it to our advantage. You actually have written a book about this. “Built to Beat Chaos: Biblical Wisdom for Leading Yourself and Others.”  In your book, you have a section, “How Do I Get Control of Chaos?” How does that work? In this book, you also share the “Biblical Secret for Unlocking the Potential of My People.”  Can you discuss this a little bit with us?  What is the Biblical secret? I know some people are hesitant about mixing Faith and the workplace. You have a complete webinar on this topic. The bottom line is that we should be using the workplace as one way to build up the Kingdom on this earth, correct?  Basically the “whole business and whole person” process. You describe that as a “Kingdom Impact Business.” Can you explain that for us? I love that you share we are “body, soul and spirit.” Which we are… but you encourage entrepreneurs to understand that people spend 2/3 of their life OUTSIDE of the work place. I know I've worked for some organizations that gave you a Blackberry (I'm dating myself now…). I hated that thing!  It would go off at all kinds of times to ask questions or “if I could do such and such.”  Today, we have cell phones – it seems like we are supposed to be available 24/7.  What do you share about that with business owners and managers? Gary, this has been so interesting. If someone wanted to buy your book, “Built to Beat Chaos: Biblical Wisdom for Leading Yourself and Others.”  How can they do that? Is it on Amazon? If someone wanted to get in touch with you, to ask a question or to get more information, how can they do that? How can someone get in touch with you? I'll put links to all of this in the show notes...

Possibly the most pernicious and evil consequence of the COVID tyranny has been how our kids' educations have been destroyed. From 2019 to 2022 scores across the board plummeted in the largest and fastest way ever recorded. Eight-grade math scores plummeted a whopping 8 points on average as remote learning and increasingly unsafe public school environments throttle the learning process.  Friends of this channel will know I spent decades in education, specifically Classical Christian Education, because long before COVID and when wokeness was still relegated to University campuses I, like many Christians and Patriots around the country, realized that public education was rotten and was headed in a dangerous direction. Of course, we have talked to Doug Wilson many times on this channel who has led a revival of private classical schools across the country that many families are turning to. Scores of families are also turning to homeschooling, specifically with classical Christian curriculums.  I have the pleasure of being joined today by Robert Bortins, CEO of Classical Conversations which is the largest Classical Christian homeschooling curriculum in the world! I know many families that have used classical conversations for every step of their kids' education and it is great.  Robert has become a thought leader on a biblical worldview in education and culture and is the host of a successful podcast called Refining Rhetoric. He is a member of the Board of Directors of Gutenberg College, the Classical Learning Test, and NAV Sevens Rugby. It's no secret that small businesses are the heart and soul of America. Small businesses provide 2 out of every 3 jobs in America.   I am a passionate and proud small business owner. I have been endeared with the idea of owning a small business ever since my dad lost his job when I was young. I promised myself that I would never get in a position where someone else could take my freedom and finances away from me.   To this day I have kept that promise, and I wish success for every small business owner and aspiring entrepreneur out there! Luckily, there are a couple organizations that fight for our right to be independent business owners.   In this podcast episode of Retire in Texas, we dive into the two organizations putting in the work and making it easier for Christian CEOs to align their business practices with their faith.   C12 is a leader in the Kingdom seeking CEO space. They hold monthly meetings for all 2,500 of their members to help equip business owners with the right tools and resources to instill Christian values into their business practices.   The National Federation of Independent Business Owners (NFIB) works to protect small business owners' freedoms and independence. The local governments have gone too far to regulate the free market, and we need to protect our freedom by lobbying in every facet of American government on the local, state, and national level.   Whether you are a seasoned small business owner, or an aspiring entrepreneur, you should be inspired by these organizations that are protecting our faith, freedom, and financials.   #RetireInTexasPodcast #FaithBasedBusiness #FaithDrivenEntrepreneur

After graduating, he worked as a management trainee for UPS and as a plant engineer for Easy Gardener, a Jobes company. In 2011 he returned to the family business, Classical Conversations, Inc., to develop a marketing program. He was then appointed CEO of the family-owned company in 2012. In the years since Robert Bortins became CEO of Classical Conversations, the company has grown by 300 percent and has become the world's largest classical homeschooling organization.  Robert is a member of the board of directors of Homeschool Now USA, the Carolinas Rugby Union and the Clemson University Rugby Foundation Board. He is also a member of C12 Group, the largest professional development network of Christian CEOs and executives. Under Robert's leadership, Classical Conversations has been named a Certified Best Christian Workplace by BCWI for four years in a row.   Very Powerful, Convicting and Thought Provoking Takeaways  You do not need to be a trained educator to teach your children; sometimes being trained is a hinderance since homeschooling is not schooling at home but a way of life, and unlearning those habits can be hard.   When parents say they cannot be around their children all day is a sign of a deeper that parents do not want to address. Not wanting to be around your kid also means you did not raise them in way that you would want to be around them.  Education is to prepare you to engage in life and with those around you.  Homeschooling allows your teenager to mature in the areas that are important and will benefit them and their future society.   Call to Action  Resources: https://members.classicalconversations.com/free-learning-center  Books: https://classicalconversationsbooks.com/  Social Media Links  Website: https://classicalconversations.com/  Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/classicalconversations  Instagram: Look up classical conversations according to your state.  Twitter: https://twitter.com/ClassicalConv  What is Next!  Thank you for supporting this show by listening and sharing with friends!
