20% of all adults suffer from chronic pain, while up to 80% will experience acute pain from injury or surgery. $600 billion is spent annually in health care costs and loss of productivity due to pain. In this episode, you'll discover:—Dr. Prather's theory that pain comes from a blockage of energy in one or more of The 5 Pathways Of Pain. And how each pathway needs to be treated in a different way. —Why Dr. Prather says his patients will first feel an increase in their energy level before they feel a decrease in their pain level.—How 80% of chronic Headache patients have actually given up on finding a solution, but Dr. Prather says that his office is "pretty much 100% successful" with Headaches.—The difference between the medical approach of pain management that masks the symptoms versus the Structure-Function approach of actually fixing the underlying cause of the pain.—Why Opioids and NSAIDs actually "make the pain problem worse" long-term by damaging the body. And the long list of natural, safe, non-pharmaceutical alternatives Dr. Prather uses in his office that produce better results than the drugs.—How the treatments offered by Holistic Integration are exactly what an independent government commission recommended as the best approach to pain…until the pharmaceutical companies interfered.—Why Dr. Prather says that "Chiropractic is one of the best things you can do" when you're talking about pain relief. And the reason why Holistic Integration begins with making sure the Atlas is in its proper position.—How Acupuncture "can actually reverse" Opioid addiction by stimulating the body's own natural Opioid production. And how "everybody" has some issues with a blockage of their Electromagnetic pathway, which makes the biggest difference for Chronic Pain patients.—The link between the Lymphatic pathway of pain and Fibromyalgia, for which Dr. Prather's office gets "remarkable results". And how the B Vitamins are particularly effective for Nerve Pain. —The Cerebrospinal Fluid blockage that is "easy to diagnose" and is "a different type of pain" which responds well to Craniosacral Therapy at Holistic Integration. And how Dr. Prather considers a lot of the deep joint pain as a blockage of the Circulatory pathway, which can be treated by "pumping" the joint.http://www.TheVoiceOfHealthRadio.com

Pre eclampsia in late pregnancy is often arrived at with one episode of High BP, two episodes of High Blood Pressure or a case in previous pregnancy without any symptoms in the current one.We see how the current care dynamics in the medical world is quick to categorise a symptom which may need further diagnosis to confirm if someone really has a condition or not, Pre -eclampsia being one of them. While only 6-8 % of women statistically are at high risk of pre-eclampsia or further issues, the micro and over management of the situation often results in lack of support for women desiring natural births (which is how birth happens, naturally!)In this episode, however, we do not discuss prevention or management but what Pre-eclampsia can mean at a physiological level for birthworkers and pregnant women to ask better questions! This episode covers:Definition of PreeclampsiaChanges in the Circulatory , Liver and Kidney Systems involved directly or indirectly with PreeclampsiaQuestions a pregnant woman can ask when presented with a similar situation. What all factors can help better and reliable diagnosis of the situationIf this helped, we encourage you to leave a comment/rating/review on the platform you are listening to this from!Support the showPrepare for Birth, explore Prenatal and Postnatal Preparation Classes, visit www.birthagni.comSupport the show: If you like what you hear, leave us a rating on Spotify app and answer the question at each episode! a review on Apple podcasts. In conversation with Herbal Elder Blaine 'the Herb Man' Andrusek. In this episode we covered a wide range of topics including Lobelia, Tobacco, Overcoming addiction particulate to smoking, the circulatory system and how it works, including foods and herbs that could help. We delved into Indigenous connections, Iridology and so much more. Oh yes - we talked about Clary Sage, its properties, and the origin of the name as it relates to one of its main uses. This was chat number 21 in the Wild Wisdom & Storytelling series of interviews with Blaine Andrusek by Malcolm Saunders of Light Cellar. What would you like to hear Blaine share his perspective on? Get in touch by email, info@lightcellar.ca. Let us know what you thought of this episode, and stay tuned and subscribe to this podcast for more. About the Herb Man: Blaine Andrusek grew up in north central Saskatchewan where he spent a good deal of time in his beloved Boreal forest. By the age of 14, Blaine was regularly hunting and trapping and had a keen interest in native traditions and all that the forest had to offer. At 18, Blaine ran off with a few provisions and adequate gear to survive minus 27 and five feet of snow and ended up spending nearly four months living mostly off the land. Although he didn't understand the concept of ‘totems' at that time, Blaine had many experiences with Owl, who told him that his mission, this time, was to never stop learning and to teach. When Blaine returned to Calgary a few years later, he met Terry Willard, who had just started his practice and founded the Wild Rose College of Natural Healing. Blaine was one of the earliest graduates of the Master Herbalist program, and by the Spring of 1981 began teaching. Although mostly a hobby interest at first, ten years later, Blaine gave up other interests in favour of becoming a full-time teacher, public speaker, and practitioner. A focus on essential oils captured his interest, and Blaine was soon formulating and supplying fellow herbalists, aestheticians, and massage therapists from coast to coast, and speaking to eight to ten audiences a week. From children's summer camps to Elder Hostel, numerous massage schools, television work, and eventually keynoting national and international conferences, Blaine has had an extremely diverse and rewarding career and has been honoured as an herbal Elder. He is the creator of and namesake behind Blaine Andrusek Phytotherapeutics, a line of high-quality essential oils. As well as the author of the forthcoming autobiography: Child of the Boreal: the Story of a Young Man.

Researchers say a new method for heart transplants could increase the number of available organs and save more lives. Currently, most transplanted hearts come from donors who have been declared brain dead. This means the person no longer has signs of brain function after suffering a serious injury. In a brain death, machines can keep the body breathing and can provide oxygen to organs until they can be recovered and put on ice. But the new method would take hearts from medical cases known as circulatory deaths. These cases are also known as donation after circulatory death, or DCD. Circulatory deaths happen when a person has a nonsurvivable brain injury, but still has some brain function. In these cases, family members can decide to withdraw all life support measures. This means organs go without oxygen for a time before they can be recovered. Currently, kidneys and some other organs are taken from people suffering circulatory deaths. But doctors have resisted using hearts because of possible organ damage from a lack of oxygen. A new study suggests that hearts might also be recoverable from cases of circulatory deaths. Researchers at North Carolina's Duke University School of Medicine led the study, which was recently published in the New England Journal of Medicine. The researchers said using hearts from circulatory deaths could possibly give thousands more patients a chance at a lifesaving transplant. And it could increase the number of donor hearts by 30 percent. “Honestly if we could snap our fingers and just get people to use this, I think it probably would go up even more than that,” transplant doctor Jacob Schroder told The Associated Press. “This really should be standard of care,” he said. With the new method, doctors can remove hearts in circulatory deaths and put them in a machine that “reanimates” them. This process pumps blood and nutrients through the heart as they are being transported. The organs can also be tested to make sure they are effectively functioning before they are transplanted. The study involved multiple hospitals around the country, as well as 180 transplant patients. Half the patients received DCD hearts and half were given hearts from brain-dead donors that were transported on ice. Survival rates six months later were about the same – 94 percent for recipients of cardiac-death donations and 90 percent for those who got the usual hearts, the researchers reported. The findings are exciting and show the possibility “to increase fairness and equity in heart transplantation…” said Dr. Nancy Sweitzer. She is a heart transplant specialist at Washington University in St. Louis. Sweitzer, who was not part of the study, said she thinks the new method will permit more people with heart failure to receive lifesaving treatment. In the U.S. last year, 4,111 heart transplants were performed. While this was a record number, it is not nearly enough to meet the need. Hundreds of thousands of people suffer from advanced heart failure but many are never offered a transplant. Still others die waiting for one.去年在美国,进行了 4,111 例心脏移植手术。 虽然这是一个创纪录的数字,但还远远不能满足需求。 数十万人患有晚期心力衰竭,但许多人从未接受过移植手术。 还有一些人死于等待。

The Regression Session - Exploring Healing Through Past Lives And The Metaphysical
We can look at the human body and understand that it is built of systems that are designed to disseminate substances, impulses, and fuels throughout the body. Examples: the Respiratory, Digestive, Circulatory, and Nervous systems. Another system that we also have is the energy/emotional system. This system proliferates throughout the body and is used to regulate the physical effects of energetic processes like emotions within the body. Just like we can get a blood clot in our circulatory system, we can get an energetic block within the energetic system. Caring for these energetic blocks is exactly what Podcast host Sarah Bright of 'Your Chakra Coach' Excels in. She and I speak about how we can identify and treat the symptoms and causes of these blocks. Tune into this weeks episode to more fully understand how to tune into your own emotions, and balance your energetic makeup to begin living a more healthy life. Jason and Greg discuss the respiratory and circulatory systems and how they work together to support the body. The circulatory system, made up of the heart and blood vessels, brings blood to and from the lungs to deliver oxygen and nutrients to the body's tissues and organs, while also removing carbon dioxide and waste products. The respiratory system, which includes the lungs, alveoli, and diaphragm, is responsible for breathing and facilitating the transfer of oxygen and carbon dioxide between the air and the blood. The autonomic nervous system controls breathing and regulates the cardiovascular system, including heart rate and blood pressure, and prepares the body for physical activityIf you would like to access the detailed notes behind this episode then please subscribe to our paid Substack posts. The Mid Life Athlete podcasts are free and we hope our fans enjoy them.Click here to subscribe to our newsletter and automatically get our latest podcasts, blogs, offers etc into your inbox. You can find Mid Life Athlete onTwitter @PodMidInstagram @mid_life_athleteEmail us: midlifeathletepodcast@gmail.comSupport the showClick here to subscribe to our newsletter and automatically get our latest podcasts, blogs, offers etc into your inbox.
One of our most requested guests returns to the show. It's been nearly eight years since we've caught up with Will Cullen Hart. The Circulatory System/The Olivia Tremor Control front man has spent most of the pandemic focused on his painting. We discuss his artwork -- one of which falls onto his head, as the interview winds down. But our focus is his continued musical work, from some of the earliest Elephant 6 demos, to forthcoming Circulatory output. Ten years ago this July, The Olivia Tremor Control's long-awaited reunion came to a close with the tragic death of Cullen Hart's childhood friend and longtime collaborator, Bill Doss. While the event spelled the end of the group's live performances, many of Doss's contributions to a new record, The Same Place, had already been record. Hart discusses the likelihood of that music seeing the light of day. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Key Takeaways: There are TEN TIMES the number of bacteria in our body than our own cells and the majority of them are found within our digestive system. The gastrointestinal system contains 90% of the body's happy hormone, serotonin. Most importantly, approximately 70% of our immune system is housed in our gut! Episode Summary: The gut, or gastrointestinal system, is truly a gateway to good health. The gut microbiome is an ecosystem of organisms including bacteria, yeasts, fungi, viruses, and protozoan throughout the digestive tract. Far beyond just digestive health, the following organ systems are also closely related to gut health: Immune system Endocrine system Nervous system Circulatory system Integumentary system Respiratory system Reproductive system "The food pyramid might be out of date and confusing to most." Many find they have refigured their food pyramid for convenience, without understanding the harm they are doing to their bodies. For many, it consists of: Grain at the base; Dairy in the middle; . . . and Sugar at the top. "To be frank, none of these foods have any business being part of your diet at all." In this YOUNGER podcast episode, I will help you wake up to how the majority of our diets are now packaged meals with paragraph-long ingredient lists and labels we can't understand due to convenience. We are all busy and cooking takes time, but if this is your situation, just know you may not be eating real food at all! Here are a couple of alarming facts you should know: The United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved approximately 3,000 different food additives, preservatives, and colorings without adequate research on safety! The average person ingests over 150 pounds of additives each year! The impact based on the fact that such chemicals that have been allowed into our lives is incomprehensible and might be considered experimental. As we become more and more aware of the consequences of this fake-food lifestyle we begin to recognize it is simply unacceptable! The disturbing facts above point to only a few key factors in the leaky gut epidemic, but I do find they are the bigger ones! One man has all the data that every state should be focused on. John Beaudoin, a systems engineer and forensic data analyst, has gotten hold of seven years of all the death certificate data in Massachusetts. The 420,000 records are the only record-level source data anyone has used to analyze the increase in deaths from cancer, heart, and circulatory diseases. He is able to prove based on the timing and the ICD codes that the insane increase in deaths even in 2022, when few are dying of COVID, is due to the shots, not COVID. He also has proof that remdesivir was causing a massive increase in acute kidney failure. He is suing the state for fraudulent data because he found numerous examples where officials labeled someone as having died from COVID when they really died from the shots. If every GOP governor would only publish this data, it would blow the debate over the shots wide open. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Show Notes: Scientists Have Discovered a New Set of Blood Groups | Wired (00:52) After performing an emergency C-section for a pregnant woman, researchers were curious why there were these strange antibodies in the blood. They made a startling discovery: The woman's blood was of an ultra rare type, which may have made her baby's blood incompatible with her own. Prompting her immune system to produce antibodies against her baby's blood Scientists were able to unpick exactly what made her blood different, and in the process confirmed a new set of blood grouping—the “Er” system, the 44th to be described. A, B, O, and AB isn't the only classification system There are many ways of grouping red blood cells based on differences in the sugars or proteins that coat their surface, known as antigens. Differences in antigens results in the following situation: Someone receives incompatible blood from a donor, for example, the recipient's immune system may detect those antigens as foreign and react against them. One new blood classification system has been described by researchers each year during the past decade. tend to involve blood types that are extremely rare “Discovering a new blood group system is like discovering a new planet. It enlarges the landscape of our reality,” says Daniela Hermelin at the Saint Louis University School of Medicine, who was not involved in the study. Due to those genetic differences, a small number of people have alternative amino acids, or building blocks, in their Piezo1 protein. Causing the different ER blood type There are five Er antigens in total—five possible variations of Piezo1 on the surface of red blood cells that can lead to incompatibility. Benefit of this finding: It adds to our knowledge of how blood incompatibility can affect pregnant mothers and their babies Boston Dynamics, Agility and others pen letter condemning weaponized ‘general purpose' robots | TechCrunch (05:38) A group of prominent robotics firms (Boston Dynamics, Agility, ANYbotics, Clearpath Robotics and Open Robotics) issued an open letter condemning the weaponization of “general purpose” robots. The piece comes amid mounting concern around the proliferation of advanced robotics systems. With fictional depictions and real-world efforts like the Ghost Robotics dog that has been outfitted with a sniper rifle, raising significant red flags for many. Part of the letter states: “We believe that adding weapons to robots that are remotely or autonomously operated, widely available to the public, and capable of navigating to previously inaccessible locations where people live and work, raises new risks of harm and serious ethical issues. Weaponized applications of these newly-capable robots will also harm public trust in the technology in ways that damage the tremendous benefits they will bring to society.” Ghost Robotics, which has its own take on the topic, told TechCrunch at the time: “We don't make the payloads. Are we going to promote and advertise any of these weapon systems? Probably not. That's a tough one to answer. Because we're selling to the military, we don't know what they do with them. We're not going to dictate to our government customers how they use the robots.” Today's open letter finds the signees pledging not to weaponize their systems, while calling on lawmakers to do more to prohibit this use for robotics. They end off their letter saying: “We also call on every organization, developer, researcher, and user in the robotics community to make similar pledges not to build, authorize, support, or enable the attachment of weaponry to such robots. We are convinced that the benefits for humanity of these technologies strongly outweigh the risk of misuse, and we are excited about a bright future in which humans and robots work side by side to tackle some of the world's challenges.” World-first stem cell therapy trial treats spina bifida before birth | New Atlas (13:14) Spina bifida is a birth defect in which the spine fails to develop properly, which can lead to weakness or paralysis of the lower limbs, cognitive issues, and urinary and bowel dysfunction. Currently no cure, post-birth surgery can improve the symptoms in some cases. But a new clinical trial aims to intervene earlier. Signs of spina bifida can appear very early on in the pregnancy. Allowing for time to treat it while the baby is still developing, potentially improving the outcomes. The treatment involves administering a stem cell patch to the baby's spine while still developing in the womb, and early results are promising one year on. Three babies have been born out of the eventual 35 that will be enrolled in the CuRe trial. The Cellular Therapy for In Utero Repair of Myelomeningocele (CuRe) trial, conducted at UC Davis Health. One baby girl was expected to be born with leg paralysis – and yet, she was seen to be kicking and wiggling her toes right away. The scientists will monitor the babies until they're six years old, and there's a particular milestone at 30 months of age to check how well they're walking and toilet training. A new AI tool could predict the risk of heart disease and death through retinal images | Interesting Engineering (17:10) A new study has found that an artificial intelligence (AI) tool that images the retina's network of veins and arteries can accurately predict a person's risk of cardiovascular disease and death in less than a minute. Non-invasive screening method that doesn't have to be done in a clinic The new study demonstrates that the width of veins and arteries in the retina could indicate circulatory disease early and accurately. Circulatory diseases include cardiovascular disease, coronary heart disease, heart failure, and stroke The fully automated AI-enabled tool called Quartz evaluates the potential of retinal vasculature imaging plus known risk factors to predict vascular health and death. Scanned the retinal images of 88,052 people between the ages of 40 and 69 Later scanned an additional 7,411 participants who were aged between 48 and 92. The results showed: In men, the width, curviness, and width variation of veins and arteries in the retinas are important predictors of death from circulatory disease. In women, artery area and width and vein curviness and width variation contributed to risk prediction. From the study: Below 0.5 indicates a very poor model. 0.5 means that the model is no better than predicting an outcome than random chance. Values over 0.7 indicate a good model. Values over 0.8 indicate a strong model. “Prediction models for circulatory mortality in men and women had optimism adjusted C-statistics and R2 statistics between 0.75–0.77 and 0.33–0.44, respectively.” The C-statistic is a measure of goodness of fit R2, coefficient of determination, is used to analyze how differences in one variable can be explained by a difference in a second variable.

We're making our way through the body, Altering Your Health from Head to Toe.Circulatory system, lymph, bones, brain, eyes... next stop: ears! When we think about ears, of course we consider the miracle of hearing, funneling sound waves that are then interpreted by the brain. The vestibular complex of the inner ear is also associated with spatial orientation and balance, something that we may often take for granted unless that system is out of whack (as is the case with benign paroxysmal positional vertigo, BPPV)!There is much to say about the nuances of hearing issues, tinnitus, and vestibular issues that cause vertigo and balance problems. However, the focus in this week's episode is the common ear infection, otitis media, much more common in children, warranting 1 out of 3 visits to the pediatricians office.Chronic and recurrent ear infections are so common in kiddos, but completely avoidable! Let's learn about shock. We'll start with a whole bunch of scientists trying to figure out what it is, dating back literally to the Ancient Greeks. Even as we better our understanding of shock, we then have to treat it. On today's show, I talk to musician Will Cullen Hart. Will grew up all over the US, but it was living in Louisiana that truly made him who he is, because that's where he met Bill Doss, Jeff Mangum and Robert Schneider and formed the Elephant Six Recording Company, as well as The Olivia Tremor Control with Doss. It's not hyperbole to say that the bands that were part of Elephant Six: Neutral Milk Hotel, The Apples in Stereo, the aforementioned OTC, as well as other bands like Of Montreal, Beulah and Elf Power came to define a generation of music-listeners. After OTC broke up, Will formed psyche-pop band The Circulatory System, and while it was revealed in 2008 that he suffers from multiple sclerosis, this has not slowed him down - his latest album Mosaics Within Mosaics was released earlier this year, and it is wonderful.
