This week, the Road Surface Treatments Association (RSTA) has launched Pothole Prevention Week as part of its on-going commitment to highlight the benefits of surface treatments that prevent potholes from forming in the first place.Subscribe to Highways Voices free on Apple Podcasts,Spotify,Amazon Music,Google PodcastsorPocket Casts and never miss an episode!Joining us on Highways Voices for this conversation (see below), is Mike Hansford, the new Chief Executive of the RSTA and Craig Marshall, Head of Commercial at ASI Solutions, a RSTA member and provider of the RHINOPHALT asphalt preservation product.Preventative or surface treatments protect and preserve roads so that they last longer and are protected from defects and potholes.Once these treatments are applied, roads can last for up to 10-20 years longer or more, depending on the treatment. That's roads without potholes for that long or even longer if re-application is possible. In taking a more proactive approach, the life-expectancy of a road in the UK could be increased, and potholes significantly reduced, if local authorities and their private sector contractors adopt a more proactive approach to highway maintenance alongside other treatments such as resurfacing. This would mean central government would eventually be spending far less on reactive repairs such as filling in potholes by adopting a ‘prevention is better than cure' approach to highway maintenance funding, rather than ‘papering over the cracks' with pothole repairs, for them only to appear again later in the medium term.
Stewart Mandel of The Athletic joins Brent Axe on the latest episode of Syracuse Sports. Mandel gives his impressions of Syracuse hiring Fran Brown as its new head coach including the comparison of a successful recruiter who made the transition to head coach and is doing well now in the Power 4. Mandel and Axe discuss the key 2024 storylines for ACC football, both on and off the field. Do Florida State and Clemson have a path out of the ACC? Why is February 2025 such a key date that will forecast whether the ACC remains intact? Why should "old school" fans be rooting for Dabo Swinney? How will the new 12-team playoff work and affect the college football schedule? Syracuse Sports Insiders helped shape the conversation of this podcast with their great questions and opinions. Scripture exhorts us, "Let the marriage bed be undefiled, for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterous" (Heb. 13:4), "The body is not meant for sexual immorality, but for the Lord," (1 Cor. 6:13), "But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality," (Ephesians. 5:3), and "Put to death therefore what is earthly in you: sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry" (Col. 3:5). Drug toxicity is a leading cause of death in Canada and around the world. Over the course of three episodes, we will address three interrelated topics related to the toxic drug crisis. This first episode will focus on harm reduction and the impact of stigma on people who use drugs. While the Supreme Court of Canada has recognized the importance of harm reduction for effective addiction treatment, contemporary efforts have diverged from the traditional aims of grassroots harm reduction: to promote and protect the dignity of people who use drugs. How can harm reduction be enhanced to reduce the number of deaths related to drug toxicity and better serve the needs of those affected by structural, social, and economic vulnerabilities? Host Sarah Rowe addresses this question and more with guests Dr. Geoff Bardwell and Craig Marshall. This series is produced in memory of Marc Alexander O'Keefe.

In this Curated podcast, we meet with the Co-Founders and CEO of OrganOx, an Oxford University spin-out that is quickly penetrating the world of medtech. Its success has led it to be at the forefront of changing the way donor organs are preserved in the critical time between donation and transplantation. Amazing as it may seem, methods of preserving organs have changed little in the last 30 years, however OrganOx has spent over a decade developing a radically different approach, such that observers have referred to it as a “Lifeline for livers”, and a “dream machine”, with further potential applications. Peter Friend, Professor of Transplantation at Oxford University, and Constantin Coussios, Professor of Biomedical Engineering at Oxford University, both co-founders, explain their work in combining a reappraisal of the medical challenge with the engineering approach undertaken to find a solution for a very real unmet medical need. They are joined by Craig Marshall, CEO of OrganOx (previously MD of the Siemens magnet technology business), who explains why FDA approval launches the company onto a new plane, as well as other potentially compelling opportunities for the company. He discusses the journey from invention to monetisation, the revenue inflection point ahead, the market opportunity, board composition, and the excitement they share about the future. Great session with Graig. A man of passion for his subject matter and a truly engaged ambassador for ASI Roads – Racetracks and Runways. Another insight into a subject that most of us take for granted. • Every time we taxi, take off and especially land should now have a different impact • Awareness of impact to the tarmac from Heat, cold, water ingress, weights impacting and extraction of rubber from tires • How to lengthen the lifespan of the runway and ensure that a responsible approach is taken re Carbon footprint We mention pockets of excellence New awareness within the industry – consider change and benefit Enhanced products – Rhinophalt Food for thought - ‘The top protects the bottom, but what protects the top?'

Craig Marshall describes his amazing journey from being a childhood actor in Hollywood to becoming a yoga monk and living in a Buddhist monastery for 35 years, to leaving and creating his company MindfulU. He will describe the many bricks that have been thrown at him along the way, the people that helped him, and how he learned to listen to the whispers.

In this HR Uprising episode, we begin the first in a new series on “What does the CEO really want from HR?”Joining Lucinda to discuss this hot topic, is Craig Marshall CEO of OrganOx. Above all, he advocates the value that HR can bring. Craig discusses the requirements he expects of his HR divisions, and the business journey that has led him to recognise how invaluable HR is to the beating heart of any business. KEY TAKEAWAYS Spending twenty years being managed, before becoming a line manager, gave Craig a rare insight into how it felt to be managed both badly and effectively. Originating from an engineering background, Craig admits he was slow to realise the true value of HR and people skills. Certainly, this appears to be a common occurrence in this particular field. Distilling HR theory or presenting it as more evidence-based will help to attract a broader church of people. Consequently reaching those who can see this as woolly and dumbed down. The ideal HR candidate, according to Craig, is the kind of person who has come from a larger organisation. Certainly, someone who has managed the evolution of people. Someone who can recognise the types of people and departments in any business, and also help them to achieve their maximum potential in the future. HR helps Craig to understand the individuals in his business, but further than that, it allows him to find the most effective team dynamic. A good HR director will not be afraid to contribute and speak up when necessary. Above all, it's important to be engaged, and unafraid to challenge. Furthermore, Craig would like to see more innovation in HR. The business world is rapidly changing, and the way in which we are learning is incredibly transitional. Consequently, HR need to be much closer to the action in the ways in which we are choosing to learn. When it comes to legacy, HR can be incredibly useful in explaining an executives negative impact from a business point of view, so long as it is done in a constructive, logical way. Best Moments ‘Why work here? Why work harder?' 'There's every reason to provide a sophisticated education to sophisticated people' ‘What does the team need?' Craig Marshall is our guest for today and we are having a conversation about counseling! Craig is the pastor of a local church and is one of our biggest supporters and encouragers. He shares the importance of counseling and what counseling truly is. This is a topic that can sometimes be awkward to discuss, but we’re hoping that our conversation with Craig will remove the stigma and make it seem less intimidating.
It can be difficult to know how to pray for ourselves and others, but the Apostle Paul reminds us of three things we can pray that we all will increasingly know.
Cheri Jamison interviews Craig Marshall, who grew up as a “Methodist without a method.” At age 23, he became a monk with Self-Realization Fellowship, living in a monastery for 35 years. A mid-life change spurred him to pursue a new chapter of life. Today, Craig is married, living in California, and is a sought after speaker, business consultant, and co-author of the book, The Next You. “We have a set of beliefs which we, sort of arrogantly, call reality.” ~Craig Marshall craigmarshallconsulting.com

Rick Ladendorf and Craig Marshall of Prevo Health Solutions are often referred to as The Monk & The Mastermind. You'll find out why on this episode of Private Club Radio as we explore their new service to the private club industry. Rick and Craig share to amazing gifts with our audience, so make sure to stay tuned to the full episode. PREVO has been beta testing a new leadership program with private clubs from California to Florida in conjunction with Craig Marshall. Craig has mentored and met some of the world’s most successful people, including Steve Jobs, Ronald Reagan, Shirley Temple, Fred Segal and Beatle George Harrison. As a yoga monk, Craig traveled the globe for 35 years, teaching mindfulness & meditation, mentoring people from all walks of life. Private clubs that are mindful of and driven by purpose exemplify three main things: They stand up for something that they believe will deliver true value (or otherwise improve the lives of the customers). They stand out from competitors by intentionally and consistently delivering a distinctive customer experience (across all channels that is consistent with their promise). They stand firm by creating the appropriate culture (to ensure sustainable and authentic delivery over the long term). Rick Ladendorf, PREVO’s founder explains, “We have mapped the most pressing issues a club manager faces against the seven core constituencies, and then applied staff thinking and behavior patterns to an educational curriculum. Part of the training is delivered on site, and is enhanced by digital media, which resides on a platform - to provide accountability and measurement. Considering the costs associated with employee turnover – including interviewing, hiring, training, reduced productivity, lost opportunity costs, etc. – this is the actual cost to an organization: For entry-level employees, between 30%-50% of their annual salary to replace them. Some studies (such as SHRM) predict that every time a business replaces a salaried employee, it costs 6 to 9 months' salary on average. For a manager making $40,000 a year, that's $20,000 to $30,000 in recruiting and training expenses. Craig Marshall adds, “Amidst the challenge and change in today’s private club industry (not to mention in the wide world!), mindfulness is a core skill. “Mindfulness” education includes topics such as: living a conscious life, inspired leadership, aligning with your personal life-purpose, creating culture & community, becoming an innovative thinker, mastering change & transition and core communication skills. We call these the 7 Mindful Living Habits of a Sustainable Club™. The four immediate benefits from our program are: Tools to reduce stress. Ways to create greater personal responsibility among your team members. Understanding why positive focus will help everyone achieve their goals. The work-life balance necessary to create a healthy culture & avoid turnover. The goal is to build an inspired team and implement the club’s vision with all its stakeholders. Building such a culture and aligning your club’s vision with your operational plans requires specific skills, yet they will directly reduce turnover and help build a culture that will stand the test of time. My Daughter had the privilege of being coached by Coach Marshall for 4 years, and what started as an "off season" activity to take a break from competitive volleyball, turned into a FUN 4 year journey that landed her a scholarship to play Tennis in College! This was made possible because of the fun and enjoyable experience she had by associating with the program Coach Marshall has developed. This was a wide ranging interview to find out what led Coach Marshall to Coaching, Tennis, Kansas, Cross Country, Marathons, and meeting his Wife!
