To mention that Ilkim Hincer has had his fingers on the pulse of regulated gambling in Canada and the U.S. over the five years is akin to proclaiming Connor McDavid is a pretty decent player of hockey. Hence, our motivation for some time now to get the former Chair of the Canadian Gaming Association into the virtual studio for an appearance on the Gaming News Canada Show presented by GBG Plc. Not only did Hincer accept our invite, but appeared on the podcast the same week he was appointed the new Chief Legal Officer at gaming industry behemoth GeoComply. Hincer, who left his position as partner and chair of the gaming practice at Fogler, Rubinoff LLP to join GeoComply, let us in on the process that led to his latest position in the business of sports betting and gaming. We also spoke with the one-time senior executive at Hard Rock International about the shifting regulated gambling space, and working with Paul Burns to lead the CGA through a busy three-year tenure as Chair. We also discussed the potential for competitive regulated gambling regimes not only in Alberta, but across the rest of the country. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Send us a Text Message.Vocalist Chris Fogler moved to Colorado when the COVID-19 pandemic started, and he had many friends in the area. One of these friend's partners lived with guitarist Dan Thurnhoffer, and Thurnhoffer, Fogler, and their mutual friend made a point to get together and play music every week. Ultimately, they formed the group Sycamore Porch Pickers, with the mutual friend eventually dropping out and being replaced by bass player Dave Keller. Fogler also played guitar and mandolin, and Thurnhoffer also contributed to vocals. The group felt like their name didn't fit with their sound, which covers the gambit of rock-and-roll, blues, and jazz, but not bluegrass, which they felt their name was reminiscent of. They took the first part of their new name from their guitarist's truck Goldie, and they took their second name from feeling ground down from life and music, and thus, Goldie and the Grindstones was born. Strathy served as the Chief Justice of Ontario for eight years and as a trial and appellate judge for nearly fifteen years. He was appointed Chief Justice of Ontario in 2014, after sitting as a judge of the Ontario Court of Appeal beginning in 2013 and a judge of the Toronto Superior Court of Justice beginning in 2007. Prior to his appointment, Mr. Strathy practiced civil litigation for three decades and specialized in maritime and transportation law. In recent years, Mr. Strathy has advocated for the importance of addressing mental health issues in the legal profession. In the post-pandemic world, Mr. Strathy has sparked a national conversation about legal professionals and their mental health.Teodora Obradovic (Prpa) is a member of TAS' Young Advocates Standing Committee, and an Associate in the Litigation and Dispute Resolution Group at Fogler, Rubinoff LLP in Toronto. Her passions and experience reach a range of practice areas, including debtor and creditor disputes, shareholder and corporate disputes, bankruptcy and insolvency issues, and privacy matters. Teodora has appeared as counsel before all levels of court in Ontario. Teodora volunteers her time with Pro Bono Ontario providing legal advice on civil litigation to low-income Ontarians, and supervises students at the Toronto Metropolitan University's Law and Business Clinic who provide pro bono business law services to entrepreneurs and small businesses.Land AcknowledgementThe Advocates' Society acknowledges that our offices, located in Toronto, are on the customary and traditional lands of the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Haudenosaunee, the Anishinabek, the Huron-Wendat and now home to many First Nations, Inuit, and Metis peoples.  We acknowledge current treaty holders, the Mississaugas of the Credit and honour their long history of welcoming many nations to this territory. While The Advocates' Society is based in Toronto, we are a national organization with Directors and members located across Canada in the treaty and traditional territories of many Indigenous Peoples. We encourage our members to reflect upon their relationships with the Indigenous Peoples in these territories, and the history of the land on which they live and work. We acknowledge the devastating impacts of colonization, including the history of residential schools, for many Indigenous peoples, families, and communities and commit to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusiveness in an informed legal profession in Canada and within The Advocates' Society.

It had been more than 50 years since they had walked off the basketball court as teammates, members of a squad that established Carolina as a perennial national title contender and started building Dean Smith’s legendary status as a coach. But it seemed as if it had been just last week listening to Jim Delany, retired commissioner of the Big 10 Conference; Eddie Fogler, longtime assistant to Smith and retired college head coach; and Charlie Scott, a member of the Basketball Hall of Fame who played professionally before a career in business. Chatting on Zoom with a fellow member of the class of 1970, GAA President Doug Dibbert, the Carolina memories flowed as smoothly as Delany and Fogler’s assists to Scott back in the day.

Talking Through Evolution On this episode 90 of The Walking Dead Talk Through, Mark and I discuss The Walking Dead Season 9 Episode 8, which is titled Evolution. This was written by David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick, and directed by Michael E. Satrazemis. Mark loved this episode, but I didn’t. Some choices were bothering me this time around. SPOILER ALERT!!! SPOILER ALERT!!! The rest of this blog post requires a SPOILER WARNING!!! If you haven’t watched this week’s episode, then you probably should stop now. Surprising death… of the character and his jingle!!! I am not afraid to admit that I enjoyed my Jesus jingle. I enjoyed it a lot more than the character, so now that he’s gone in spectacular fashion, I am sad to see it go. Don’t get me wrong. I am sad to see Jesus go, but he never lived up to his hype. He was just another character on the show. I know he was a much-loved character from the comic book, but in the show, he was underutilized. I never felt like I got to know him very well. He was always in the background. He went out in a great sequence, in a surprising turn. It’s sad that he actually lived up to some of his potential in his last scene. What happened? Would you please just tell us what happened??? We get more of this hinting that there’s a big rift between Alexandria and the other communities. Strike that… Not between Alexandria, but Michonne and the other communities. Everyone is giving her the cold shoulder this episode: Tara, Enid, Dianne, and even Carol. Yes, they talk, but notice how they didn’t hug? Whatever happened, I’m starting to feel manipulated, much like I did before we found out the fate of Madison in Season 4 of Fear. I just wish they would tell us what happened. Too much teenage angst for a mid-season finale! The trials and tribulations of Henry were things we had seen before, both from Fear S3E3 TEOTWAWKI when Alicia met with the kids of Broke Jaw Ranch, and TWD S5E12 Remember, with Carl meeting Enid and Ron, and then later with Aiden and Nicholas’ walker plaything. I really didn’t need to see this stuff in the mid-season finale. Instead of getting a lot more information about this Michonne vs. everyone else that keeps being hinted at, we get more of Henry. It’s not that I don’t think we should have seen that – it was a timing issue. It could have waited for the back half. Instead, we have 2 1/2 months to wait for any of that to be explained; I could have really used that to be explained a lot more, and I wasn’t waiting for Henry’s story or the other angsty teens. By the way, using cats as bait is not cool. That kid is a serial killer wanna-be!!! Thankfully, ratings are up for Evolution… This week, TWD got a 1.96 in the 18-49, with 5.089 million, up from 1.80 and 4.794 million last week. That’s down from the two episodes previous to that, but some of that can be explained because of the long holiday. Charts below.

Five years after Harry left Hogwarts, we apparate back into the Wizarding World, this time following Newt Scamander and some other fresh faces around 1920s New York. We talk about the mythology of the book from which this movie draws its name, the future of the 5 parts Beasts series and the possibility that Dumbledore's Army was simply hidden up his sleevey. We attempt to match wizard wits, with Jay roundly trouncing AJ in his knowledge of the Harry Potter mythos and his ability to pronounce the charms and spells. AJ is bad at that. So settle in with a warm butter beer and wrap your cloak of invisibility tightly around you (neither of which make an appearance in this movie, we are sad to say) and enjoy listening to two NoMajs (or muggles, if you prefer) talk about Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them!   Email us your thoughts, questions or hate mail to cinemasesh@gmail.com   Follow our social media antics! https://twitter.com/CinemaSesh  https://www.instagram.com/cinemasesh/

We have two interviews for you today; separated by years but united by the common thread of Hollywood and comics. But not comic book movies so much as comics from movie people. First up is Greg's talk with actor/director/comedian/writer Dan Fogler. You'll recognize Dan from "Balls of Fury", "Fanboys", "Take Me Home Tonight", "Hannibal", or "Secrets & Lies", but what you might not know about Dan is that he's written some comics as well. Two volumes of "Moon Lake" have been released by Archaia so far, but he's currently Kickstarting his new project, "Brooklyn Gladiator". They talked about that, what books Dan is currently reading (and there are a LOT of them), what it's like being behind the camera as well as in front of it, and more. Dan also tells just who he passed a joint to at the SNL 40th Anniversary Party, so this one's got something for everyone. If that wasn't enough for you, then Greg's unearthed 2013 talk with writer/director Chad Crawford Kinkle should do the trick. This interview, presumed lost in a hard drive crash, has him talking with Chad about the filmmaker's then-current indie horror movie "Jug Face". Chad lifts the curtain on what goes in to making a film on a reduced budget that still delivers big budget entertainment. They also talk about Chad's comic work, including his graphic novel "Harpe", about the two brothers who were America's first serial killers...back in the 18th century! Greg and Chad talk horror in all forms, and a whole lot more.  Robots From Tomorrow is a weekly comics podcast recorded deep beneath the Earth's surface. You can subscribe to it via iTunes or through the RSS feed at RobotsFromTomorrow.com. You can also follow Mike and Greg on Twitter. This episode is brought to you by Third Eye Comics. Enjoy your funny books.

This episode is an interview with  Michael Fogler  about his book "Un-Jobbing: The Adult Liberation Handbook". Michael talks about his life experience, having reached the age of 58 without ever having had a single, full-time job. He talks about how his personal experience in "failures" a traditional career-job route led him to discover unjobbing as an alternative approach. He talks about how he came up with the name "unjobbing" and the influences on his ideas, such as Grace Llwellyn's book "A Teenage Liberation Handbook". Michael provides some tips on achieving personal liberation, including the issue of minimising expenses, saving and ensuring that you "act your wage". He talks about the importance of having other people around you who share your values, especially as the unjobbing approach is not considered "normal" by mainstream culture.
