I think most of us worry about money more than we'd like to admit. No matter how much we have, it seems like it's never enough. But have we entered a time like the one that made my Grandmom put her money in the mattress? Listen to her story, and mine. Maybe it's time to give that idea some new consideration.

Shana recounts her grandmother's legacy, a woman who broke through gender barriers, pushed for criminal justice reforms and mentored legal professionals including Shana's aunt, leading to the first mother-daughter judge teams in the country. (obituary at https://www.washingtonpost.com/obituaries/2022/10/05/bess-lavine-prince-georges-judge-dead/). Shana and Trudel also discuss what Trudel's experience has been like as a Yale 1L under a 1L pass/fail, no-grade grading system. Welcome to Episode 15 of The Doctor Coach School™ Podcast. When I say I am so excited for today's episode, it is because I have the immense honor and privilege of interviewing one of the coaches inside of DCS.Dr. Michelle Hepburn is a board-certified Pediatrician, a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, and currently serves as an Attending Physician and Medical Director of her practice at a world-renowned Children's Hospital. She was born and raised in The Bronx New York with a culture rooted in Jamaican heritage. She grew up in a multi-generational family that was always on the move with outdoor adventures, family trips or vacations, and playing outside all day with neighborhood friends. In the evenings, the kitchen and dining table were the center of the home in every way. It was the time to watch Mom and Grandmom cook traditional Jamaican dishes or venture out with making a variety of other cuisines. They would eat dinner together, talk about their day, and laugh. She still cherishes the days of her childhood and brings much of her family upbringing to present day, with a life enriched with family, friends, food, and laughter. She enjoys quiet time alone to read, cook, and bake. They all love most any outdoor adventure together such as hiking, biking, kayaking, white water rafting, and zip lines. With her family of 4, she has a goal of traveling to all 50 states together, taking in a new experience and cuisine, in each state. Dr. Michelle's story is so fascinating. What you will take from this episode is how what you've been through in your life can really inform the type of coach you are and what you coach on.Let's get into it.Connect with Dr. Michelle:On InstagramOn Facebook***********************************************************************Click here to join me for the Create Your Premium Offer Challenge from October 30th to November 3rd where I will help you map out all of the components of your premium offer so that we can get you coaching.Let's Connect: On Instagram On Facebook On LinkedIn On TikTok On my website

If you became a Mom for the first time after 35, or again after age 35, there are likely some 'Mommy' dynamics going on that are a little 'different'. There are situations that are unique to those who became mothers later in life, like how the heck do you 'blend in' at school with the younger Moms without feeling awkward? Just ask Robin Gorman Newman. She needed those answers when she became a mother in her 40's to two adopted sons and as a result became the Founder of MotherhoodLater.com, now an International Organization. Robin shared that though she was never hung up on age, she did suddenly feel different when she became a late in life mother. Mostly because she didn't have peers. Even though late in life motherhood is common these days, Robin says, you still don't seem to stumble upon fellow older moms at the playground. Older moms are also often more conscious of being 'the older Mom' at school events etc. she says, and though older Moms are much more common, she adds they still have to deal with judgement from others. "What the heck do you say to a person who has the nerve to ask you if you're the Mom or the Grandmom?" Robin created MotherhoodLater.com so that older Moms could make connections with each other, feel good about themselves and their age, and know they're not alone. The site also features articles about inspiring later in life Moms. Robin Gorman Newman is a powerhouse force in life, in love and on Broadway. She's a Tony Nominated Producer (The Great Comet) plus a Strategic Marketer/Connector/Love Coach/Author. Listen To Our Warm Fun Chat.

In a massive week (The first full episode we are posting on YouTube... search “weekly Inconvenience” on all platforms) We address a Netflix documentary called “Hot Girls Wanted” which we mentioned last week. We invite our Pornhub Affiliate Mardi Jo onto the show to discuss her point of view. Slip and Nelso both have strange experiences involving bees. We have our good friend Melissa (Intuitively_U on Instagram) on to help Slippy find a saying... but turns out we all got a lot more than we bargained for. It looks like we’re joining a new program! There is a groupchat for a different Drunk Gamblers Network show on Instagram (dgcardroom) where an investigation has broken out... someone is following exclusively grandmother aged accounts. Finally, Nelso calls into a radio show pretending to be Shak.
Home & Heart Friday Nov 20,2020Topics: MTHFR, Music, MatthewPhysical & Spiritual HealthWelcome to Moments with Moni, I'm so glad you are here! With the weekend coming and the family spending more time together than ever before, let's explore some topics that many of us could use help with. The dreary cloudy days bring sadness to many. Families are under more stress than ever with less work, more bills, and having to learn how to Zoom School. We enjoyed a pajama day now and then back when our family Homeschooled, but dressed from the waist up for teachers meetings online, with the stress of accomplishing all of the assignments and conquering technology, after a sleepless night and a depressing day doesn't help the old energy tank.If you add the physical tank that is on low to the Spiritual tank that is on low, it can create a mess. I have been wanting to share my story with you on the physical tank that was brought so low I almost check out and went to be with Jesus. However, He has other plans for me, so here I am to share my journey through MTHFR, Hypothyroidism, and Hashimotos. Why in the world do doctors give these things such strange titles? After reading though medical research papers for over a decade, I can see that doctors are taught a completely different langue so that if the patient over hears a few of them sharing, we, the great unwashed, will not have clue as to what they are discussing. Examples:methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase enzyme gene Hashimotos Disease HypothyroidismHyperthyroidismAnd then is Bronchitiis, Arthritis, and all the others itis's The itisis' are none other than inflammation of a particular part of the body. (which is another problem our medical system has. We are sent to different doctors for each part of our body that is having difficulty. Once there, we get 1-3 minutes with a doctor, he prescribes a drug or in the event the drugs on his list don't cover the ailement, we are sent to a specialist, and or have surgery to cut out the problem) Pretty soon we are on a long list of meds, and a long line of doctors appointments, and due to Covid, are on a long wait list to have procedures done. We need our spiritual life to be healthy, and remaining in God's word as we have in other podcasts and in our personal lives is most needed if we are going to be able to help others. As mom's and Grandmom's we can easily set aside our own health for the sake of others. It's easy to do for those you love. But, take a hint from the Stewardess who is giving your instructions before taking off on a flight. You know, the ones we never listen to. Listen now, before placing the oxygen mask on your child, place the mask on yourself. Did you hear me? You can't help anyone else if you are passed out. So before you Zoom School all of your children, make sure you have time set aside to spend with Jesus even if you have to get up early to be with Him alone and let Him pour His love in to you so your love tank is full and you have more to share with others. In the same way, exercise profits little, but if we care for the tent we have been given we may feel better and last a bit longer to enjoy this journey we call life. Back in the year 2000 I had major health issues and shared this story in a blog post back in 2013:This is long overdue, but my computer died awhile back and I had to figure out how to rescue this picture. I was amazed at the difference in myself when I saw the two bottom pictures next to each other. A short bit of history...I did not know that I was born with a thyroid issue. My mother was told I had thyroid problems but..."that I would out grow them!" NOT....All through my...

Vanessa Jackson- Vanessa Jackson started her adult life as a single mom of a 1 year old as she was pregnant in high school. To say it was a struggle would be putting it mildly. She grew up with a single mom who raised 4 kids so she was used to not having a privileged life but she also learned that you just need to go out there and do whatever it is that you want to have a fulfilling life. After taking first place in the National Physique Committee in the fitness category as a Grandmom on her first ever fitness competition she went on to work with a 6th degree black belt in Shuri-te Shaolin style martial arts. Together they developed a fitness program that taught self-defense called, KoBu Power. Once her daughter was over 18, Vanessa moved to California; a place where she had been wanting to live all her life (even though she had never been there). She found a passion in helping others achieve their goals; whether they were fitness goals, nutrition goals, business goals…it didn’t matter, she just really enjoyed helping others to push past their limiting beliefs. Her other passion was riding motorcycles. In 2018, she was finally able to set aside the time to chase after one of her own dreams…racing motorcycles! She has always had an “I can do it” mentality but this was a new beast and she was nervous especially since motorcycle racing is a man’s world & she was literally the only female on the entire grid. Ultimately, she took 2nd overall in the Championship in her first season racing and was totally and completely hooked. She now has 4 motorcycles & races in 2 organizations in 4 categories. She started her company, Train For Life, a company that inspires others to live their best life, out of her desire & skillset of coaching others to be better tomorrow than they are today. Her “No Excuses” mentality mixed with her compassion for life challenges is a great combination to support others on their journey. It hasn’t been ‘easy street’ for her as she’s had her own life challenges along the way; she’s had to fight for her daughter, suffered a broken back & broken pelvis has lost jobs leaving her financially strapped & so much more but she continues to have a positive outlook as one of her favorite mantras is “The Universe is Abundant and it will provide”. She also likes to say “In the end it’ll all be ok. And, if it’s not ok…it’s not the end”. She feels like opportunity is born out of ‘failures’ and she’s had a lot of opportunities. Her next journey takes her on the road building a transport vehicle for her motorcycles, surfboard & yoga mat along with her daily positive affirmations, meditation & gratitude to explore the country riding as many tracks as possible, building her business along the way, being a social media influencer and showing others that sometimes it just takes courage to go after what you really want. This will allow her the freedom to spend as much time with family when necessary and to inspire anyone else out there who may not be brave enough just yet to follow their own dreams. She will lead by example by being a role model of success, treating others with kindness & respect, going out of her way to help others and she will always root for the underdog. Follow her journey & be inspired to live your dreams! Website: trainforlife.org Listen to another #12minconvo

Each frame, each moment, we record the world around us through our senses. We experience the warmth of light through a window, the dashing of elevator doors in our hallway, the texture of a handrail, the aroma of something cooking in the kitchen. In P.L.Deshpande’s words, When we hear the word Thalipeeth, we not only just remember a peculiar maharashtrian dish made by Grandmom but we also remember her bangles clinging while Doughing the flour, freshly made white butter, the kitchen where we sat and ate it and countless other memories. These senses create the full experience of the spaces we inhabit. Rohan Shivkumar has been trying to capture these moments, cacophonies, their contradictions, paradoxes and more through his architectural films. Today I have Rohan Shivkumar with us on Audiogyan. Rohan is an architect, urban designer and filmmaker practicing in Mumbai. He is the Dean of Research and Academic Development at the Kamla Raheja Vidyanidhi Institute for Architecture and Environmental Studies. His work ranges from architecture, urban research and consultancy projects to works in film and visual art. He is interested in issues concerning housing, public space and in exploring the many ways of reading and representing the city. Today, we will try and document, what does it take to create space or a moments in time on a film You have made 2 films so far, “Nostalgia of the Future” & “Lovely Villa”. I recently watched both of them at Frame Conclave in Goa. Very nice indeed. In both of your films you are trying to show connections and also dissociation between the matter (which is architecture) and soul (which are memories and intangible feelings associated). Can you start by briefly telling us what are these films and what made you do these films? Something within you (as an architect) is not able to manifest in the form of architecture. Probably that could be the reason you made these films? Is there a common or individual subtext you are trying to communicate through these 2 films? What is that subtext? Filmmaking is a much younger art form than architecture. We daily walk pass the same building but hardly pay attention to the details or art deco of it. But when a film captures that and presents it, it feels great. Is it failure of the architect to show us those beauty spots or victory of film making as an art form? Is invisible architecture great architecture? What is the biggest challenge to encapsulate the micro and and macro of architecture on the film? This is in context of Correa’s vision for "a mirror of the nation, in miniature” - If you at all tried to portray that in you film, what was the process like? Both of your films have long takes with steady shots. Without much camera panning and moving. Is this standard for more or less architecture films? You have intentionally taken this route? What are your thoughts and learning? Lastly, I would like to conclude by asking, what is Project Cinema City? Can you tell us more about it? What we do as regular citizens?

Grandmom talks about her grandparents, farming, and how to get the most out of life.
In show number 8 of his podcast, Elder Law Today, practicing elder law attorney, Yale Hauptman, discusses some real life case studies to illustrate how the Medicaid laws can trip people up and cause much stress and financial loss for the unprepared and unwary. Yale first discusses the case of the granddaughter caring for her grandmother full time, with Grandmom providing the funds to support both of them. Things go wrong when Grandmom’s condition deteriorates to the point where nursing home care is necessary and the money has run out. Learn the mistakes that this family made and why it has become much harder to fix them under the new Medicaid laws. Next, Yale discusses a call he received from a son in Mississippi who took in his parents to his own home, moving them from New Jersey. The parents transferred their home to Son, who then put it up for sale. The plan fell apart when Dad took ill and needed nursing home care much sooner than anticipated. He applied for Medicaid and was denied because of the home transfer. The Medicaid caseworker told the family they would need to transfer the home back and spend down the sale proceeds before Dad could then qualify. Learn why their course of action was the wrong one for more than one reason and what they could do fix it and immediately qualify Dad and preserve the funds for Mom. Yale then discusses the call he received from the frantic daughter who was sued by the nursing home when, after 8 years, Mom lost her Medicaid eligibility. The nursing home sought $80,000, the private pay cost of care for Mom. Why did it happen and what do you need to do to prevent it from happening to your family? Tune in. The final case study concerns a couple who was unprepared when suddenly Husband took ill, needing nursing home care. They were told that he would qualify for Medicaid but that some amount of money would have to be spent down first. Unfortunately, Wife did not fully understand the urgency and did not spend down to the necessary levels for 6 months. The nursing home presented them with a bill for $70,000, the private pay amount for that period of time, for which Medicaid will not cover. Yale talks about why this outcome didn’t have to happen and what could have been done to avoid it. Yale also takes time to answer some more listener emails. Learn what to do when a bank resists honoring a power of attorney that is presented to it. This 8th installment is sure to answer many of the questions you have about common elder law issues.
