In Nehemiah 6, opposition intensifies—from distraction to slander to intimidation and even spiritual manipulation. And yet Nehemiah refuses to come down from the wall.In this episode of Moments to Ponder, we explore:How opposition escalates when the work of God is advancingThe difference between discernment and fearWhy not every “spiritual word” is from GodHow Jesus faced similar tactics—and stayed faithfulWhat it looks like to remain steady when your integrity is questionedNehemiah's response is simple and powerful: “I am engaged in a great work, so I can't come.”If you've ever faced criticism, gossip, false accusation, or pressure to compromise, this conversation is for you.The wall was finished in 52 days—not because the opposition disappeared, but because Nehemiah refused to step away from what God called him to do.Let's take a few moments in God's Word and walk away strengthened. To find out more about me, or to book a speaking engagement, head to https://betsymarvin.com/For access to past podcasts and transcripts, head tohttps://betsymarvin.com/podcasts/You can follow me on Instagramhttps://www.instagram.com/betsyjmarvin/and Facebookhttps://www.facebook.com/betsy.marvin.98
In this episode, I'm sharing a deeply personal reflection on hiding and visibility—how parts of us retreat for safety, and how they eventually long to surface again.Through the lens of my Jewish experience, family lineage, and recent years of navigating identity in a politicized world, I explore how hiding can be a necessary survival strategy—and how, over time, it can begin to feel constricting rather than protective. This is a story about ancestry and memory, about scattered threads finding their way back to one another, and about the quiet courage it takes to let ourselves be seen—often not in grand declarations, but in small, relational acts of connection.I also reflect on moments when I felt scared and unsteady while recording this episode itself, and why I chose to keep coming back anyway. What emerged was a reminder that visibility doesn't require perfection—it requires presence.Whether you resonate with these stories through your own heritage, your creativity, your sensitivity, or a part of you that's been hiding for a long time, my hope is that this episode offers permission to surface gently, at your own pace, and with the support of one safe connection. In this episode, we explore:How hiding can be a protective response—not a personal failureWhat generational survival teaches us about visibility and safetyThe difference between hiding for safety and hiding out of fearWhy parts of us begin to surface when hiding becomes too costlyThe power of connection when we risk being seen by just one personHow creativity, confidence, and belonging often flow from gentle visibility A gentle invitationIf something in this episode stirred a part of you that's been hiding—whether for weeks, years, or a lifetime—I invite you to name it. You don't need perfect language. Just enough words to acknowledge it exists. And if it feels right, share that part with one safe person and notice what unfolds. If you'd like a partner to walk alongside you as you bring hidden parts of yourself into visibility—with nervous-system support, care, and attunement—you're welcome to reach out. Episode 119: Still Learning: How My Teachings Have Evolved Through Lived Experience After seven years of living in a 24/7 DOM/sub dynamic and several years of teaching, Andrew shares how his understanding of the concepts he teaches has deepened and evolved. Growth means being willing to reconsider what you thought you knew, and in this episode, Andrew opens up about the nuances he's discovered through lived experience. In this episode, Andrew explores: Masculine Emotion: Why letting her see you in your emotional process builds intimacy, not polarity loss. The difference between using her as your therapist versus letting her witness your humanity. Feminine Chaos Redefined: Two definitions of chaos and why one represents disorder while the other holds pure potential. How a woman moves from emotional reactivity to embodied calm. Slowing Down on the Inside: Why an externally slow life doesn't matter if you're still racing internally. How your tension as a man blocks her ability to relax and receive. The Role of Fear: Why most relationships are actually between each other's conditioning and programming. How fear protects itself and why you can't force your way through it. Structure vs. Containment: The critical difference that changes everything. Why applying structure to her crushes her spirit, and what she actually needs instead. Individual Healing: Why the work is always individual. How healing yourself transforms the relationship without trying to fix it. This episode offers hard-won wisdom for anyone committed to growth in their dynamic and their life. In this explosive episode, Tara and Lee confront what's unfolding in Minneapolis—and why it matters to the entire country. As roads are blocked, ICE operations obstructed, and police ordered to stand down, a dangerous precedent is taking shape: mob rule replacing law enforcement. From the fallout of the George Floyd case to today's coordinated street actions, this episode explains why President Trump is openly considering invoking the Insurrection Act, what the law actually allows, and why every day of hesitation emboldens chaos. The most chilling moment? A video of protesters conducting an illegal traffic stop—demanding identification, searching a vehicle, and enforcing their own version of “law.” This isn't protest. It's a warning. ⚠️
In a world filled with distraction, content overload, and cultural confusion, raising children who are wise, discerning, and grounded can feel daunting. In this episode, Davies Owens sits down with Marissa Streit, CEO of PragerU, to explore how families can recover wisdom in America through small, faithful practices at home rather than sweeping overhauls.Marissa challenges parents to reclaim confidence as their children's primary educators and encourages them to start with “micro, atomic habits” that build courage and clarity over time. Together, they discuss why young people are surrounded by information yet starving for meaning, and how virtue, responsibility, and service shape true maturity.

Send us a textGeneral Christopher Donahue, commanding general of U.S. Army Europe and Africa joins Joe for a wide-ranging conversation on leadership, culture, and what it takes to drive real change at scale across massive, dispersed organizations.Having led at the division, corps, and now theater Army level, Donahue reflects on what doesn't change as responsibility grows. Regardless of rank or scope, leaders must still create belief in the why, articulate a clear vision, translate that vision into a workable plan, and embed it into culture and process so change actually sticks. They also explore what is changing rapidly. From the impact of emerging technologies to the realities of modern warfare—where sensing, drones, and data shape every decision—they discuss why leaders must continuously adapt, integrate new tools, and keep developing themselves to stay ahead. The conversation reinforces a timeless truth: while the tools evolve, leadership remains the decisive factor. In this episode, General Donahue and Joe also explore:Why culture without process is just wishful thinkingHow leaders turn intent into execution through clear systems and standardsWhy meaningful change must be measured, not just announcedHow repetition, standards, and accountability build real readinessWhat improved culture looks like when performance rises and negative indicators fallWhy realistic training standards matter—especially under stressAvoiding groupthink by rotating teams and encouraging honest feedbackCreating a climate where people can speak truth to power without fearWhy leaders should never expect to fight the last war againThe growing challenge of offense in a world of constant sensing and surveillanceHow technology, data, and modeling are reshaping how leaders think about risk and capabilityWhy, in the end, it still always comes back to leadershipWhether you're leading a small team or a global organization, this conversation offers a grounded reminder that clarity, discipline, and culture—not slogans—are what allow leaders to turn complexity into coherent action.Watch the full interview our our YouTube ChannelA Special Thanks to Our Sponsors!Veteran-founded Adyton. Welcome to the Evangelism Is Easy Podcast, where we equip everyday believers to boldly share their faith and make disciples in their daily lives. In this episode, Pastor Chris Donald delivers a bold and faith-filled teaching on fear—what it really is, why it shows up when we step into obedience, and how God wants to use it as an invitation to crush hell. This message confronts the lie that fear disqualifies believers from evangelism and exposes the spiritual reality behind intimidation, hesitation, and silence.Pastor Chris unpacks why fear isn't merely emotional, but spiritual, pointing to Scripture to reveal that God did not give us a spirit of fear—but of power, love, and self-control. From everyday encounters to stepping onto the grounds of a mosque in Iraq, he testifies to how the Comforter meets believers the moment they choose obedience. This episode reframes fear not as a warning to retreat, but as a signal that heaven is moving and hell is panicking—because the more you go, the more you grow.In this episode, we cover:Why fear is not just a feeling—it's spiritualWhat 2 Timothy 1:7 reveals about the true source of fearWhy believers often feel fear right at the moment of obedienceHow Romans 8:11 reframes confidence in evangelismWhy fear is an invitation to crush hell, not back downTestimonies of stepping out—from everyday moments to a mosque in IraqWhy Satan is more afraid of obedient believers than they are of himAction Step:Ask the Holy Spirit, “What's one place this week where I know God is asking me to step out?”Give Him your yes—and let us know in the comments how it goes.Resources and Links: Get equipped to share your faith: www.33rdcompany.org Connect with us on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/33rdcompany 33rdCompany YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@thirtythirdcompany 33rdCompany Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/33rdcompany/ If you want to be equipped to share your faith and make disciples, text SEND ME to 59090.

In the spring of 1990, families across Britain began reporting visits from strangers claiming to be social workers. They spoke with authority, carried clipboards, even asked to photograph or examine children — and then vanished. Police launched Operation Childcare, a nationwide manhunt involving more than twenty forces, but no arrests were ever made. Were these criminals, insiders, or the product of a moral panic born from fear and mistrust? Join John Williamson by the fireside as we unravel one of the strangest unsolved mysteries of late-20th-century Britain — a story where rumor met authority, and where fear itself became the evidence.
When Tony first came to Enfold with his wife, Chantel, he was searching for something that years of therapy and effort couldn't unlock: greater empathy. Despite his love for her, he often felt frozen in moments of her pain — unable to connect, unsure why. That first intensive opened the door. He began to feel her emotions and be with her through them, rather than analyze them, marking a profound shift in how he related to love, vulnerability, and safety.A year later, Tony returned on his own — no longer to save his marriage, but to understand himself. What unfolded was an intimate encounter with his deepest wound: abandonment. Through 5-MeO-DMT and a dedication to the integration work, Tony reconnected with the parts of himself that had never known safety or intimacy. In a moment of clarity, he realized that what he longed to give to others was what his own inner child had always needed — to simply be held. This second journey deepened Tony's relationship with himself — expanding his capacity for compassion, acceptance, and presence across his business, family, and spiritual path.In This EpisodeHow early emotional absence shaped Tony's struggle with empathyThe power of returning to the medicine with a new intentionUncovering abandonment as a lifelong survival patternHow integration practices like breathwork and IFS are the backbone of healingReconciling spiritual growth with an entrepreneurial driveLearning to face mortality with openness rather than fearWhy healing is less about breakthroughs and more about devotion to practice

Fear of infidelity can be one of the most overwhelming and destabilising experiences for someone with anxious attachment. But this time, it's different. Andy isn't chasing medals—he's chasing meaning. And the path leads him through shark-infested waters, swollen throats, and swims so long and cold they push his body toward shutdown. In this episode, Andy shares:What happened during his 15-hour swim across the Molokai Channel that landed him in the hospitalThe physical and psychological cost of extreme endurance—and how he prepares for itHow he trained his mind to stay calm through chaos, pain, and fearWhy rest is one of the most underappreciated tools in elite performanceThe habits, rituals, and community that help him stay grounded—even as he takes on the world's hardest swimsThis is a conversation about what lives on the other side of burnout—and what it means to build a second act rooted in intention, not just achievement.Whether you're an athlete, a late bloomer, or someone reevaluating what truly matters… there's something in this episode for you.
What if accepting failure was the key to entrepreneurial success? Mark DeSantis has built and sold multiple companies over the years and like any entrepreneurial journey, it's been a mixture of ups and downs, failures and successes. But in this episode, we hear that acknowledging the possibility of failure is what gave him the courage to keep on going.Mark shares his entrepreneurial story – why he began it, how he stays motivated, and some of the best lessons he's picked up over the years. One of the top points he makes in this episode is to be problem-focused, not solutions-focused. When building tech solutions, it's easy to get lost in the tech itself and lose sight of the real problems you want it to solve. But to make anything commercially viable, especially something as “new” as robotics, it needs to solve real problems.Mark also sings the praises of Pittsburgh, which he says is one of the best cities for robotics innovation today. He's seen the city decline and grow over the years into what's now a college town that's thriving in the tech space. In this episode, find out:Mark shares what he's been up to recently, after seeing Bloomfield Robotics acquired by Kubota CorporationThe challenge of living with uncertainty as an entrepreneur and the story that inspired him to embrace fearWhy entrepreneurship is like climbing Mount Everest in that you should look in front of you, not at the summitMark's secret to enjoying the journey of entrepreneurship and the moment he decided he wanted to do this for the rest of his lifeWhy AI and robotics are perfect for the “big and boring” problems in our livesWhy we might need a Henry Ford-style revolution to take robotics to the next levelHow Pittsburgh is growing in the tech and robotics spaceWhy asking if someone wants to buy your solution is the wrong question for an entrepreneur to askEnjoying the show? Because the truth is; the struggle isn't so much about how to make money… but rather how to hold it, keep it, and actually feel safe with overflow. In this episode, we've going deep into the part of wealth most entrepreneurs never talk about:→ The subconscious fear of having money.→ Why more strategy won't fix your scarcity.→ And how your nervous system might be blocking your next income level. In part two this Success; unfiltered episode, you'll learn: The surprising moment I hit $20K months and felt nothing but fearWhy you can have a rich business and still carry a poor identityWhy your subconscious is addicted to struggle even when you're ready for more money The real reason your income isn't increasing (and it's not your strategy)What your nervous system needs in order to feel safe with successThe work required to hold more, not just earn moreThis is for the woman who's done the strategy, but still feels stuck.
On today's episode, Duane talks with Justin B. Long about his journey through childhood trauma and how he tried to escape it through alcoholism. We discuss the traps of toxic masculinity, the idea that, as men, we can't share our feelings. We can't be vulnerable. We should be stoic at all times. In the episode, you'll learn how that idea prevents us from being able to heal from our past wounds. Justin shares his story of hope and healing for everyone else out there who's struggling with the same issues. Justin is the author of The Righteous Rage of a Ten-Year-Old Boy: A Journey of Self-Discovery. In his book, he talks about uncovering our deeper feelings by addressing childhood events and traumas and changing how our emotions are tied to those memories. Justin has poured his deepest, darkest secrets into the book. As he pointed out, the more sunshine gets on those secrets, the less power they have over him. As he was trying to recover from alcoholism in his mid-30's, Justin had to go back to the beginning of time to understand what drove him to alcoholism. Justin grew up with two very emotionally dysfunctional parents: his dad was a workaholic and a rageaholic and his mom was deep into extreme religiosity and hoped that God would solve her emotional challenges. He found himself in the wrong place at the wrong time. His parents didn't have any emotional tools to support him or help him. Therefore, he grew up in an unhealthy environment. The way his dad treated him taught him that he was a failure no matter what he did. Feeling unworthy, uncomfortable, and untrusting, Justin turned to books as a way to escape reality. Then, as he got older, he discovered alcohol. It made him feel good about himself and he felt accepted for the first time in his life. So, alcohol became his tool to feel good about himself. Justin didn't realize that it wasn't a solution or that it was just a band-aid. However, like all external things, it had diminishing returns over time. It worked less and less until it stopped working altogether. In this episode, you will hear:Justin's childhood traumaWhat it was like to not know how to handle his feelings How covering up feelings of shame and guilt through drinking became a cycleHow he changed his perspective from being a failure to being okayHow a recovery meeting became the first pinprick that showed him realityWhat his righteous rage looked like and how letting it go allowed him to achieve true freedomWhat happens when your pain is greater than your fearWhy it's okay to feel your feelingsJustin's motivation to put his book out thereKey Quotes:[09:21] - "My biggest problem that made me decide I had to quit drinking was that the more I got drunk around other people, the more I misbehaved and just couldn't seem to control myself."[13:15] - “Everything that I thought I knew about myself to be true was not true. And I get to rewrite that story."[16:12] - "In your formative years, you take everything from around you, and you believe that to be true."[18:33] - “True freedom comes in moving past that and letting go of that rage, even if it's justified.”[21:02] - “The pain has to get greater than the fear. And that's how it was for me. It hurt bad enough that I was willing to step into the fear."[22:14] - “I'm trying to learn how to feel the feelings and be okay with them. And sometimes it hurts, but I've learned that that's okay, too. It's part of it.”[25:17] - “The more sunshine gets on those secrets, the less power they have over me.”Supporting Resources:The Righteous Rage of a Ten-Year-Old Boy: A Journey of Self-DiscoveryEpisode CreditsFollow and Review:We'd love for you to follow us if you haven't yet.
