I'm stating the extremely obvious here, but the music business has changed a bit since I started listening to and even writing about music—in some bad ways for sure, but also in some that are pretty fascinating and welcome. You can complain all you want about lowered attention spans, but social media has allowed a lot of talented voices to essentially skip past all the gatekeepers and get right to people's ears. Take today's Talkhouse Podcast guests, Bayker Blankenship and Waylon Wyatt. They're aspiring country stars from very small towns—Livingston, Tennessee and Hackett, Arkansas, respectively—who found fans—and each other—via TikTok. Both started out playing covers of big hits, but quickly pivoted to writing their own stuff, too. Blankenship has had viral hits with sweet, simple songs like “Tennessee Sunset” and “Maxed Out.” The two of them eventually met up in Nashville, convenient to both, and to the music world, and wrote a song called “Jailbreak,” which lit up social media. Check out that song right here. These guys are much younger than your average Talkhouse guest—much younger, really, than most musicians who've gotten as far as they have, and it's fun to hear them chat about their inspirations and their goals, which seem pretty modest at the moment: good tours, being able to meet fans, eventually getting a tour bus. I imagine they'll have all that and more soon enough. They also cover a funny topic that I think more seasoned musicians have already dealt with—what to do when you're on stage and nature calls. And they both talk about an abiding love for their mommas, which I'm sure their mommas will appreciate. Enjoy. Chapters: 0:00 – Intro 2:05 – Start of the chat 4:38 – Upcoming 2025 gigs 8:40 – What to do when nature calls on stage 11:14 – Timing your sets 12:14 – Tour logistics 15:36 – Reflecting on finding success on TikTok 19:45 – Takeaways from 2024 Thanks for listening to the Talkhouse Podcast, and thanks to Bayker Blankenship and Waylon Wyatt for chatting. Exhausted. Maxed Out. Running on Fumes. Bone-Tired. Drowning. We cannot go one day without hearing these words from friends, co-workers, family members, and sisters in Christ. No matter the season of life - college student, young mother, business executive, teacher, ministry leader, empty-nester, or retiree - we women long for margin, rest, and affirmation that all our efforts mean something. Does anyone even see, let alone appreciate, how HARD we are working? Surely, there must be a purpose beyond this daily grind that overwhelms our schedules and hearts. For many, the busyness of our lives results from saying yes to good things. But at what cost? When did we trade our physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health for a couple of extra likes, fewer numbers on the scale, a bit more in our bank account, or one more thing marked off our to-do list? Do you find that your life is checking all the right boxes but still cannot find satisfaction or contentment? What's the answer for today's worn-out woman? A shift in perspective. In this episode, Laura Bailey chats about her book Embracing Eternity. We journey through the book of Ecclesiastes and discover how living with an eternal perspective results in more peaceful, purposeful, and plentiful lives today.  Join us to:  Discover how to cling to an eternal perspective in all seasons and situations Determine how to evaluate the worth of your time and energy Dive into scripture for timeless reminders about true freedom When we discover, determine, and dive into God's design for life, we can let go of the lesser things and embrace those with greater, eternal significance. Let's stop surviving and start living. We can experience life filtered through the lens of eternity, garnering the freedom only found in the permanent rather than the temporal, and discover the unimaginable benefits of a purpose and identity rooted in Christ. 35: Pricing Pet Peeves & How to Set Pricing as a Service Provider

The Ops Authority

One of the biggest challenges of hiring and offering services in the online space is the rates for services. Today I’m sharing some of my pet peeves around the rates that support staff service providers are charging and offering a few ideas about what we can do about it. Support staff are a critical part of moving a business forward. After all, the whole point of scaling is to outsource and leverage human capital to help business owners do their jobs better. But when it comes to pricing, it can feel like the wild west. Likewise, if you’re a service provider such as a VA, OBM, or PM, it can be tough to figure out how to raise your rates in a way that works for you and your clients. Pricing Pet Peeves 1. No Standard Rates I hear from business owners all of the time that are amazed at the variation of rates that service providers are charging. They want to hire amazing support staff, such as virtual assistants, online business managers, and project managers… but what these service providers are charging is all over the board. The range can be anywhere from $3/hr (for a non-US based provider) to $60/hr.    “The reality is that these people are charging whatever they want.”   There is no industry standard, nor is it regulated. Business owners are left wondering: “Can we trust the people who charge $3/hr?”, OR  “Are we going to get our money's worth for $40/hour?”   2. Arbitrary Pricing If you are a service provider, chances are that when you started out, you probably undervalued yourself. You are critical for these business owners to scale. They need you so they can grow their business.  That being said, one of my biggest pet peeves is when someone comes into the field without a ton of experience, claims a title, and attaches an arbitrary price for their services.  Instead of charging a random price,  you need to look at what you are charging vs. what you are delivering.    3. Raising Rates Without Changing the Offer Often, when service providers enter the market they tend to undervalue their work. They get comfortable at a price, but realize that they have undervalued themselves - so they raise their rates without changing their offer. The solution to this is to enrich your offer and make it commiserate with the work you are delivering. Always make sure you are upleveling what it is that you are delivering. One way to do this is to outline exactly what your clients are getting for a certain price. If clients know exactly what they are getting, they can judge for themself if the package is worth the investment.  Continue to enrich your offer, then go ahead and increase your pricing.   “With a greater offer, you’ll attract higher level clients.” 4) Raising Rates Because You're Maxed Out on Time Let's say you have 25 hours available each week you can work with clients. Once you fill those up, most people will tell you to “raise your rates.”  I disagree; you can’t raise your rates unless you sweeten the deal. You may be meeting your income goals, but your client doesn’t care. Clients care about what you are delivering to them.  Don’t just raise your rates because you are maxed out on time; that's not your clients fault. Again, you need to enrich your offer. Try to anticipate their needs, and overdeliver.   “It all comes back to enriching your offer to make it easy for your client to pay you more.”   How to Set Pricing as a Service Provider  If you’re a service provider, at some point you have to transition from charging hourly to charging for an outcome. Look at your deliverable, and figure out how you can turn your hourly rate into package pricing or a retainer package. Look inside your business and quantify what it is that you need, how many hours you have and what problems you can specifically solve. What are your unique skill sets that solve your ideal clients’ problems? Don’t just charge an arbitrary price. Think about what you deliver, and what the value is for your client. How much time and effort are you saving them by providing the deliverable?  Don't undervalue yourself, but make it easy for someone to hand over money because what you are going to deliver to them is far more than what they can do for themselves. Don’t forget to check out the Director of Operations certification program, which teaches you the systems and processes that I used to be successful and well known in this space.    Other Ways to Connect with Me: Website Private Facebook Community Facebook Page Instagram This episode was first published at theopsauthority.com/podcast/35.

If this is YOU today, and you feel right on the edge of your limit. Or you feel as though you’re at the end of your rope…with no more storage available, no more credit available, and maxed out. There IS something you can do about it. You may be asking yourself why you're doing it. OR WHAT you're doing... No matter what, this is what you can do about it. What’s maxing you out is that you’re holding on to past stories, pain, and information that no longer serves you today. The first thing you can do is to RELEASE anything and anyone that’s no longer serving you. This is NOT selfish. If something or someone is no longer supporting and serving you, fitting in, or playing a positive role in the life you desire and are creating, then it’s time to let it (him/her) go. Do you aspire to experience something bigger, better, or different than you have now? Then it’s going to take something different. Your current tools may not serve you well in the future. Carrying around baggage from the past will not serve your future, or your present. Let it go, my dear. Lighten your load. Delete. Trash. Empty trash. Release it and yourself today. So you can expand into the heart and soul that you’re becoming and the life you’re creating for yourself. This is the one step that I’m going to encourage you to focus on today. Please grab your SACRED S.O.L. D.A.T.E. JOURNAL (Daily Action To Engage with yourself.) TODAY’S SACRED S.O.L. STEP: Identify where you’re MAXED OUT, and holding onto past information, past relationships, thoughts or beliefs that no longer serve you or the greater good. Circle it (them.) Intentionally and consciously release it (them), and yourself today to live the life + life’s work that you love. It’s possible. I promise. If you desire to go fully into today and your tomorrows, let go of yesterday. I look forward to seeing you again tomorrow. I can’t wait. I’m so grateful that women from around the world are sipping on life.  Please share what you're learning with those you love, and come over to WomenSippingOnLife.com for some free resources, including my Six Sacred S.O.L.
