In this episode, Molly revisits a listener favorite: Undoing the Urge to Overdrink — a heartfelt and informative conversation first shared just before Thanksgiving 2023. Molly reflects on how emotional triggers, life events, and deeply rooted habits shape our relationship with alcohol — and how we can interrupt the cycle to create lasting change.Molly also shares a poignant personal moment, connecting the episode's theme with the anniversary of her father's passing on Thanksgiving night in 2022, making this revisited conversation especially meaningful. This episode coincides with the launch of Just One More, Molly's new two-week mini-course aimed at helping binge drinkers take the first powerful step toward a peaceful relationship with alcohol. (Sign-ups are open now! Check the link in the show notes.)Key Topics Covered:Defining Overdrinking and Binge Drinking: Molly clarifies what constitutes a binge for women (4+ standard drinks) and men (5+ standard drinks) — emphasizing why even gradual consumption across a day still counts as overdrinking.Impact of Overdrinking Beyond Intoxication: How even without reaching a "drunk" state, overdrinking disrupts sleep, elevates anxiety, taxes the liver, and triggers inflammatory responses.Holiday Drinking Traps: Common ways Thanksgiving and other holidays can lull us into overdrinking patterns — and why "spreading it out" doesn't negate its negative effects.Personal Reflections on Thanksgiving: Molly shares her experience navigating family-induced stress (especially dealing with her mother-in-law's anxiety) without turning to alcohol, highlighting the importance of mind management. The Cycle of Overdrinking: Breaking down the behavioral patterns and emotional triggers that drive overdrinking — and how building awareness interrupts the urge before it turns into action.Tools for Undoing the Urge: Molly emphasizes key strategies:Practicing mindfulness during urgesChoosing empathy over resentment in stressful family situationsReframing thoughts to shift emotional responsesFocusing on gratitude and emotional resilienceImportant Reminder: Changing your drinking habits isn't just about counting days — it's about understanding your brain, managing your mind, and creating a lifestyle of peace and intentionality.Featured Resource: Just One More A two-week mini-program designed to help binge drinkers interrupt old patterns and create a sustainable path toward mindful drinking.  Sign up here (link in the show notes)Connect with Molly:Website: www.mollywatts.comFacebook Group: Alcohol Minimalists: Change Your Alcohol HabitsLow risk drinking guidelines from the NIAAA:Healthy men under 65:No more than 4 drinks in one day and no more than 14 drinks per week.Healthy women (all ages) and healthy men 65 and older:No more than 3 drinks in one day and no more than 7 drinks per week. One drink is defined as 12 ounces of beer, 5 ounces of wine, or 1.5 ounces of 80-proof liquor. We live in a world where success is often experienced or witnessed in a matter of moments, but what we don't see are the behind the scenes choices and experiences that got them there. We aren't learning about what our guest calls “dynamic drive” that leads to sustainable success. It's not just about setting and achieving goals, there's so much more to it than that. Hailed as the “female Jerry Maguire” by CNN, Molly Fletcher has made a name for herself as one of the first female sports agents. During her almost two-decade career, and as President of CSE, Molly negotiated over $500 million in contracts and represented over 300 of sports' biggest names. Her new book, Dynamic Drive: The Purpose Fueled Formula for Sustainable Success just hit the shelves, and you're gonna want to get your hands on it. Being driven isn't just about mowing your way through life and barreling over anyone who gets in your way. It's just not that simple and it doesn't require you to be an asshole. Drive is a mindset, and energy, a discipline, and includes curiosity, resilience, connection and my favorite of them all, confidence. About Molly Knuth: Molly Knuth is a small-town Iowa girl who thought she wanted to be a high school teacher. After 3 years instructing on all things Shakespeare and American authors and many years of subbing, life called Molly out of the classroom and into the role of stay-at-home mom. …AND THAT'S WHEN THINGS GOT INTERESTING. You see, being a stay-at-home mom was great, but Molly knew that she needed a little more. And she knew there were lots of small-town business owners in her hometown of Cascade, Iowa, who could use some assistance in their daily operations. Since then, Molly Knuth Media has evolved from a solo freelance social media marketing operation to a one-stop shop marketing agency for small-town businesses. In 2024, Molly stepped away from the agency model and into the realm of being a Fractional CMO and Consultant for women-owned businesses looking to bring alignment and intention to their marketing. Going From Burnout to Breakthrough With Molly Asplin Coach and Founder of Happy Fit Mom

In this episode, we are speaking with Molly Asplin Coach and Founder of Happy Fit Mom. After 7 years of working in corporate finance with a background in Accounting, Molly found herself waking up every morning thinking “there has to be something more”. While she appreciated her coworkers and her company, she wanted to directly impact the lives of others. She felt complacent and surface-level happy, like life was on autopilot and she was going through the motions. She felt bored, yet overwhelmed, with busy days but mundane outcomes. She knew there was something more that she wanted to give to the world. She found herself wanting more time flexibility in her daily schedule beyond the corporate conference calls, spreadsheets, and keeping up with emails. She wanted to create meaning through her work that made her feel passionate and live in alignment with her priorities. Looking for a solution, she started working on herself — her nutrition, fitness, and daily personal development. She found that these daily habits created productivity, energy, and opened her eyes to a future career. She surrounded herself with others who were growing, and in doing so, she sensed a large need to mentor other over-achieving females who wanted the same things she did — to feel healthier, happier, and live life with more meaning and purpose. Today she leads a team of over 1,200 coaches, helping other women find more fulfillment in life. She is a firm believer in helping women create options for their families - financial flexibility, location flexibility, and time flexibility - so that they wake up every morning feeling peace, excitement, and purpose. When she's not helping high-achieving women, she finds joy in fitness, reading, running outside, hiking, and spending time with her family at the lake. Molly lives with her husband Steve and their 2 young girls in Minneapolis, MN.
