Great candid conversation with my lifelong fitness idol GILAD. Gilad Janklowicz is one of the world's most popular fitness personalities. As a pioneer in the fitness industry, he has helped millions (including me) stay fit with his popular TV fitness show "Bodies in Motion" which launched in 1983 and was filmed outdoors in beautiful Hawaii. I remember working out to GILAD's show every morning or taping it on my VCR. I would bring that VHS tape with me on vacation just to ensure that I got my workout in with Gilad - a handsome man with a fantastic physique and a great Israeli accent! Need I say more? I was hooked! His workouts were effective and fun. I am happy to report that both he and the show are still going strong, now celebrating 40 years on-air. In this interview, we talked about his life, how he got started, the challenges and the joys, the media industry, and of course health, nutrition, and wellness. Experience GILAD for yourself! Look up some free workouts online or better yet, get the "GILAD TV" app for on-demand streaming. It's worth it!! Trust me. #51 Dr. Kenneth Tomkovich and Jess chat about pioneering cryoablation for breast cancer tumors. Cryoablation is defined as using extreme cold (cryo) to distroy (ablate) tissue from the inside out. His work in cryoablation for breast cancer serves the patient with a gentler way to treat breast cancer tumors as compared to a traditional lumpectomy. Cryoablation is minimally invasive, less stressful on the patient, less recovery time, and no disfigurement. In most cases, a patient can have their ablation proceedure and then go out to lunch right after. Listen/watch for much more of our great chat on One Take with Jess.

On Jan 1st of this new year, Lord Truffington posted an emotional tweet expressing great gratitude to the NFT community at a time when he needed them the most. During the pandemic and the harsh lockdown in the UK, he felt more lost than ever feeling overwhelmingly lonely and depressed. In 9 months after discovering NFTs, he was back to being his cheerful self realizing that, while the profits were rewarding, it was the community of people and the strong relationships formed that breathed life back into to his self-confidence and his vision of the future. "They gave me hope again." We talked much more about NFTs, a variety of projects including PAK, and shared some tips for newcomers to the space. While some feel it is too late to get in to NFTs, it is actually very early in the grand scheme of things. Aside from a great radio talk show host, Jenny is also a lawyer and inventor of Bunny Eyez. She started her radio career in 2005 with Martha Stewart's daughter Alexis and over the years explored opportunities in TV with Dr. Drew, red carpet hosting, CNN, Entertainment Tonight, etc. She established her own show JUST JENNY in 2012 loving the intimacy and interaction of live radio. We discussed her thoughts of podcasts vs radio and that there's room for everyone - "If you are good, they will find you." We talked about her brother Brian Koppelman's TV show BILLIONS. No worries, it will be back!! Love that show! Jenny and I chatted about Dr. Laura and family first, parenting, marriage. And the dreaded "Who has been your favorite guest" question. LOL! Hint: Dolly Parton was one of them. It was a personal trip down memory lane for Jenny. There have been so many great guests. She doesn't have a fave. And lastly we made mention of Howard Stern and Cameo.
REEZY and Jess talk LIFE... from his abusive childhood to his super success mastering the flip life on ebay and Amazon.
Andy Wyman, founder of Wyman Legal Solutions, makes a return visit. He's on a mission to tackle "The Justice Gap" by creating tools to guide, educate, and empower the 80% of people who aren't rich enough nor poor enough to access proper legal representation in all matters - from business agreements, to wills, to small claims cases, and more. He also has a service called "Business Lawyer on Retainer" that provides people access a lawyer for a low monthly or yearly retainer fee (as low as $10/day for your very own lawyer!). - at www.WymanLegalSolutions.com. We also talked about another 'gap' that effect the older population when it comes to the lack accessibility of services that are critical to filing for pandemic related relief (PPP, unemployment, doing everyday business) - there are many people especially the aging population, that are less computer literate that are being shut out of many services that seem to be only accessible ONLINE since phone support has exorbitant on-hold times of hours long. We also talked about re-opening of the workplace/schools, debt, bankruptcy, and more.

Jess chatted with Fire Chief Brian Soller who is approaching his 30th year as a volunteer fire fighter. About 6 years ago, while still maintaining his lean body, he recognized that his cardiovascular health was not up to par. His father's heart attack was the turning point that launched him into the world of fitness. He initiated his fitness journey with a Craigslist purchase and an exchange of cash in a parking lot where he scored his first Beach Body DVD. His social media became inspirational content as he posted his workouts for all to see. He is an advocate for overall fire fighter fitness in an effort to reduce the high number of heart attack deaths amongst his Brothers. He created a podcast called The Professional Volunteer that discusses a variety of first-responder topics helping to bridge the gap between career fire fighters and volunteer fire fighters. (Don't forget to SUBSCRIBE to "One Take with Jess" on YouTube and on your Podcast app.)
Neeka DeGraw and I recently shared Happy Hour cocktails chatting about her new adventures and 'the good' she is putting out there in the world. One initiative is near and dear to my heart called BAKING NEW MEMORIES, a Facebook Group she formed that pulls together people and their family recipes from generations prior. This effort is not only delicious, but it triggers smells, tastes, and emotions of yesteryear. Mental images of grandparents and family gathers come flooding in. As a mom of 3, we talk 'parenting', of course! She's also a contributor to an effort called IRON WILL NETWORK geared toward suicide prevention of first responders and veterans. The network pulls together a variety of channels from celebrities and regular people doing good things intended to inspire and uplift. As an approach to life, Neeka chose early on to pick up the baton from her grandmother who instilled in her a sense of grace, laughter, and a positive approach to life, especially after Neeka suffered devastating losses. Neeka also learned so much from her mom who passed of pancreatic cancer and who also was a person of happiness and 'doing good.' The presence of these wonderful people are always felt around her in a spiritual way.
May 27, 2020 - Super conversation this morning with Randy Resnick ... as candid as ever about supermarkets, restaurants, and more. A 'serial entrepreneur' in upstate New York, his businesses help sustain numerous households and the economy of Sullivan County. Here are some noteworthy topics we chatted about: -- Randy explains WHY supermarket shelves are bare (HINT: supply chain and Christmas). -- He paints a 'realistic' picture of what re-opening restaurants might look like, and the insanity of it all. -- We talk about how Creativity and Repositioning are key to survival. -- Happy to say that he has retained almost all of his employees except for a few who are enjoying the higher unemployment benefit for the time being since the Federal government added on the extra $600. -- Many of his employees have shifted roles and moved within his businesses. For example, the Chefs at his top-tier restaurant (BHR) are creating prepared foods for his supermarket (Liberty Market). -- He continues to go above and beyond ... RETHINKING how business is done and how to best meet the needs of his customers and employees while keeping everyone safe. -- His generosity is felt throughout the community ... donating food to Food Banks, Veteran Associations, and local organizations. He offers a 'Ride Home" program for Liberty Market patrons, discounts to seniors and veterans, and upcoming discounts for essential workers. Thanks Rand! Keep up the great work!
