Send us a textWhat happens when a respected pediatrician with nearly five decades of experience begins to question everything he was taught about vaccines? Dr. Bose Ravenel joins Dr. Robert Jackson to share a professional journey that upends conventional wisdom about childhood immunizations. After practicing traditional pediatrics for 31 years and academic medicine for 11 more, Dr. Ravenel's final six years in integrative medicine opened his eyes to patterns he could no longer ignore. He describes treating numerous children with autism whose parents consistently reported regression following vaccination—including one remarkable case where a hospital neurologist explicitly attributed a child's autistic regression to vaccines. The conversation takes a fascinating turn as Dr. Ravenel explains how the COVID pandemic response first triggered his skepticism. "Nothing like that had ever happened before in history," he observes about the unprecedented vaccine mandates and public shaming campaigns. This initial suspicion led him to invest thousands of hours researching childhood vaccines, where he discovered disturbing gaps in safety testing. Most striking is the revelation that no vaccine on the childhood schedule has ever been properly tested against an inert placebo, and claims of studies disproving vaccine-autism links examine only a fraction of the potential connections. Dr. Ravenel also discusses compelling research showing a striking temporal correlation between vaccination timing and SIDS deaths. This eye-opening discussion challenges listeners to question why such information remains marginalized in medical discourse. Both physicians express concern that pharmaceutical industry influence prevents honest examination of vaccine risks, while emphasizing their commitment to sharing information parents need for making informed decisions about their children's health.Share this episode with anyone concerned about vaccine safety or interested in understanding why some medical professionals are breaking ranks to question long-held assumptions about childhood immunization programs.Support the showhttps://www.jacksonfamilyministry.comhttps://bobslone.com/home/podcast-production/

The death of Mary Ravenel remains one of Charleston's most baffling mysteries. The 64 year old widow was found slumped on the sidewalk near her home on November 1, 1933. People stopped to help and transported Mary to the hospital. She complained of unbearable pain but doctors were unable to determine the source of her injuries and Mary died. Investigators struggled to answer the question of how Mary Ravenel died? Was it accidental? Or cold blooded murder? Here's a truth as bleak as it's unsettling: a woman from Charlotte, North Carolina, has been enduring the hard journey of long-haul COVID since 2022. However, she finds solace in the treatments prescribed by Dr. Robert Jackson, making this not just a story of struggle but one of resilience and hope. We're also fortunate to have Dr. Bose Ravenel, a Lifetime Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, join us to scrutinize the conflicting narratives around COVID-19 and shed light on the vested interests of organizations like the CDC, FDA, and NIH. Dr. Ravenel doesn't shy away from discussing the risks and penalties associated with challenging the COVID vaccine narrative.Imagine attending a symposium where a retired physician paints a bleak picture of our public health response to COVID-19 vaccinations. Chilling, right? This episode unveils the many questions raised by that presentation, especially about the survival rate of the virus among children and the efficacy of early treatment. We also delve into the contentious topic of Avamecdan, a drug that has seen decades of successful use worldwide, and could have potentially offered a solution to the COVID-19 pandemic, yet has faced strong opposition.Ever wondered about the integrity of CDC's practices? We'll discuss that and more, especially in relation to the US data on breakthrough COVID infections. Dr. Ravenel is back with us, sharing invaluable insights on the current state of the pandemic, available treatments, and potential vaccine risks. As we wrap up, we also touch upon the Jackson Family Ministry and Dr. Jackson's impactful books. Prepare for a riveting conversation that dissects the pandemic and its various narratives through a critical lens.https://www.jacksonfamilyministry.comhttps://bobslone.com/home/podcast-production/

Charlotte's got a lot, as the marketing campaign says, and it's enough to keep drawing people to town. In fact, more than 100 people are moving to town each and every day – that's great for business and our national reputation, but there's a yin and yang to everything, of course.  More traffic, less affordable housing, fewer seats at your favorite restaurant, longer lines at the grocery store… all that.  And it takes smart people to help forecast, design, and engineer solutions that can help fast-growing places like Charlotte roll with the punches. And the changes. And we've got one of those smart people with us here on the BrandBuilders podcast… welcome, Tobe Holmes.

From 2019 to 2021, Chanel's bag price has increased by up to 66%; LV also increased 3 times last year. People who love boutique bags wondered, "Why is the price of boutique bags increasing so much?" Lin Meizheng, director of Ravenel's boutique department, said it was the first time she had encountered such a serious epidemic in the industry in 20 years. However, after the outbreak, the performance of each department of the company, including contemporary art, Chinese painting and calligraphy, antiques, jewelry, boutique bags, etc., has grown. "It's human nature to like shopping, and you can't suppress this mentality. Since you can't go abroad, you will spend revenge and buy something you like to make yourself happy." In boutique bags, Hermes is the best representative and has value-added. She quoted former Louis Vuitton chief executive Vincent Bastien as saying, "What is luxury? It's earned in the process of acquiring it, and the greater the resistance, the more people want it." Boutiques rise 5~10% every year, Hermes is the most rising phase She explained that the price of luxury goods will be increased by 5% to 10% every year. "The reason why luxury goods are called luxury goods is that they cannot be reduced in price." She emphasized: "When some people must have a luxury item in their life, they will buy it, as long as With this group of customers, there will be a market.” "For the rich, buying a boutique is a kind of spiritual satisfaction; for the average person, it is a preservation of value, because if you don't buy it this year, it will be more expensive next year." Recently, one of her petty bourgeois colleagues, after working for a period of time, wanted to buy a Chanel 28 cm, 2.55 bag to reward herself, "10~12 years ago, this bag was about 120,000 yuan, and now it is priced at 290,000 yuan, and due to lack of work during the epidemic materials, and raw materials are rising, so they can't be bought.” In the world of boutique bags, there is only one that can be sold at a high price after buying: Hermes. "Hermes has the world's top team, from leather goods, craftsmanship to marketing, its height achieves everything now, and leads all brands." Birkin, Kelly, Kang Kang Bao undefeated forever From an investment perspective, how to buy the right Hermes bag? Lin Meizhe pointed out that there are three principles: limited, rare and unique. "If you want to buy it, you need to buy rare leather, including crocodile skin, lizard skin, and ostrich skin." She gave an example: "For a 30-centimeter Himalayan (crocodile skin), it has risen from more than 1 million, more than 2 million, to more than 7 million, and now a bag costs more than 10 million." In the choice of bag styles, the classic Birkin, Kelly and The Constance bag are the main ones. She explained: "These three bags are undefeated for thousands of years and stand firm in the market, because they are very suitable for urban women's daily or work use.

Quentin Ravenel can play drums like he has six arms. It's that while he's pulling off a dizzying series of fills, beats, and rhythms, he's also singing. As the leader and focal point of his group, Quentin Ravenel & Friends, he can go from a soulful falsetto to a gospel shout, all while striking his drums, cymbals, and programmed pads with relish and precision.Perhaps not surprisingly, Ravenel is part of a musical family. “I come from a line of singers and musicians. My mom Helen Freeman is a well-known singer around the Lowcountry,” he says. “And my little brother Stephen Freeman tours playing keyboards for Mary J. Blige.”In fact, in terms of his singing, Ravenel lists his mom as his biggest influence, along with some perhaps surprising bigger names. “Anderson Paak is one of my favorite artists,” says Ravenel, who also drums for another CPMA winner, Ben Fagan & the Holy City Hooligans. “He plays drums and sings and raps, and he recently got signed by Dr. Dre. I could go on for days, but I'm also influenced by Ben Fagan and Chris Brown.”When it comes to percussionists who motivated him to play in his youth (he learned to play drums before he learned to sing), he cites a similarly wide range of inspiration. “Eric Moore (Suicidal Tendencies, Bobby Brown, Diddy) has had a huge influence on my playing,” he says. “So have Buddy Rich, Dennis Chambers, Mitch Mitchell, and Nate Smith.”As for doing two jobs at once, Ravenel says it's just a matter of hard work. “Well, it's far from easy,” he says. “It's taken years of practice to be able to do them both. I would say my biggest challenge is choosing the right songs that I can execute gracefully as I play the drums — that and remembering lyrics.” See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

Play Episode Listen Later Jun 11, 2021 7:15

"R" is for Ravenel, Henry William [1814-1887]. Botanist, diarist. After graduating from the South Carolina College, Ravenel acquired Northampton plantation in Berkeley County. He settled into the life of a lowcountry planter and began a life-long collaboration with the country's leading botanists. He was fascinated with mycology—the study of fungi--and published two works: Fungi Caroliniani Exsiccati [in five parts, 1852-1860] and Fungi Americani Exsiccati [in eight parts, 1878-1882]. Together these works offered mycologists in Europe and America a unique opportunity to see the fungi of the southeastern United States. In his honor several genera bear the species name ravenelii and one genus of fungal rust was named Ravenelia . Another of Henry William Ravenel's legacies was the daily journal—begun in 1859 and maintained faithfully until fifteen days before his death in 1887.

Wendy and Toni bring a holiday treat in the form of a crossover episode Plot Trysts style reviewing “A Wallflower Christmas” by Lisa Kleypas. We play Laine and Meg’s fun Random Number Summaries game and come up with 21 words to describe the book. Some summaries even included the heroine which was missing from the book jacket. We discuss how Stony Cross Park is probably a trope by now with the library being a favorite place for some action and the barn a place for trysts too. But what about that love note written by Rafe? It could melt snow! For fans of the Wallflowers or Marcus, this novella is definitely a book to read every Christmas season! Also, Lisa Kleypas’ new book “Devil in Disguise” comes out next year, but what’s with the title name? "R" is for Ravenel, Harriott Horry Rutledge [1832-1912]. Novelist. Biographer. Historian. A Charleston native, Harriott Horry Rutledge attended Madame Talvande's female academy. She married St. Julien Ravenel and had nine children. Though she wrote poetry, essays, and stories on a variety of subjects, her major works focused on Southern history and manners. Her most successful novel was Ashurst: or "The Days That Are Not," which fondly depicted antebellum lifestyles and landscapes. Ravenel's other significant works were born of her interest in preserving state and family history. Among these were biographies: Eliza Pinckney and Life and Times of William Lowndes of South Carolina, 1782-1822. Her best-known publication was Charleston: The Place and the People. Characterized as "a great lady of the Old South," Harriott Horry Rutledge Ravenel died in Charleston and was buried in Magnolia Cemetery.

"R" is for Ravenel, Beatrice [1870-1956]. Poet. Journalist. Born in Charleston, she entered Harvard Annex [later Radcliffe College] as a special student in 1889. Twice left a widow, Ravenel turned to poetry (some of it splendid) and short stories (mostly derivative and plot-heavy) to support her family. She is probably one of the best examples of the influence of the Poetry Society of South Carolina on local writers. Through the Society she met Amy Lowell who championed her work. Ravenel's poetry in the 1920s championed the outsiders and the dispossessed. She also wrote reviews and foreign affairs op-ed pieces for The State newspaper. When she died in 1956, she was a forgotten figure. However, Beatrice Ravenel's poetry was resurrected in 1969 and many critics have acclaimed her the best poet of the Charleston Literary Renaissance.
