What's up everyone! Welcome to Solana Weekly Episode 22. This is Thomas Bahamas and I want to thank you all for joining in on the fun. This has turned into one of my favorite parts of the week and I can't wait to dive into what's been going on in Solana. I'm testing out a new way of doin this where I go live on Twitter for a space. My team decided that I needed to create a Twitter profile (@solanaweeklypod) for the pod to separate from my terrible twitter posts. (There is no team.) I figured it would be a good time to test out how this amazing technology works and nobody follows that account yet so I'm hoping no one joins and messes up the flow. If they do, we adapt, overcome, improvise, and download the audio and release as normal. (Update: my Airpods spazzed out so I'm not releasing space.) But we have another great show for you guys, we've got the mint of the year coming up today with the Mad Lads, prices remain up, memecoin season came and might be ending, SMB IP is getting transferred and we go over how I fumbled the bag by trying out a raffle. * Solana Price Update: A review of the current price of Solana and its performance over the past week. Sitting at $23.37, down a total of 1.39% after breaking out of it's range last week it just couldn't get out of the resistance right below 26. I thought it was going to send, but the selling pressure has been to high around that level. I've also been reading that Wintermute has been absolutely dumping the hell out of Solana. They had something like a million Solana and have been offloading to recoup. Not ideal, how long will they continue this? We'll see. Narrative is there, we will overcome. We saw a massive dip last night, hope it stops. * Solana vs. Ethereum: Down to .01178 with a 4.5% decrease on the week. This was looking really good, but Sol took a dive against the market. * Solana vs. Bitcoin: Sitting at .0007997 which is an decrease of 1.6%. I'm still super bullish on this chart. The White Wolf shared this chart on Twitter saying it's the generational bottom. It's not happening now, but this is a chart I'm keeping my eye on. * NFT Happenings: On to what the fun chain does best. Biggest news is Mad Lad's is dropping today for whitelist and tomorrow for public. It's going to be huge. Everyone in NFT's, not just Solana NFT's is pumped. It's the best advertisement for the Backpack wallet I could imagine, a hyped mint. We'll see how it goes, but I'm minting two and freaking pumped. I think this is going to be a pivotal moment for Solana NFT's with the release of xNFT's to everyone. Executable NFT's directly in the wallet. These are basically dApps that you can buy and trade and execute in a secure environment. So I'm pumped and I'm excited to see the expansion of NFT's into more than just pfp's. * An example of XNFT's and the amazing utility of quacking is in the newly released xnft of Crypto Duck Punkz. If you download their xnft you can view all your ducks in it and make them quek! It's hilarious, but I think it's also a good demo of the product. Ducks are still doing great, meme's are hopping, giveaways in discord, useless staking also.* SMB IP is in route to Monke DAO, not exactly sure when the release will be, but the deal has been done and I'm waiting on a Nom post to send my SMB to the moon. This is huge, I can't imagine a better ending to this story and I'm very pleased that the owner is a top notch DAO rather than a borderline scammer. * The Heist minted yesterday and it was a banger, I skipped it, but the game is live as of today and it looks like people are having a blast playing it. * The Chads are minting tomorrow as well, I don't know too much, they are funny on Twitter, I'm minting. * I also decided to test out a Famous Fox Raffle and dove right in. I wanted to sell a TFF and a Degen Ape above floor, I watched a bunch of other raffles on Famous Foxes go above floor so I said f it and went for it. TLDR, it didn't go well. Both went just under floor and I would consider it a massive failure. I assumed there was risk ahead of time and figured that the move was +ev overall, but I felt like an idiot for bit. * Solana Phone purchases are live and I got one baby! Ship out on 4/20 and I'm pumped about it. They are doing a whole slough of rewards and bonuses. They sent out cards to everyone and if it made a good poker hand you got a discount, I got four of a kind and they took $50 off. We are also getting some $ on Magic Eden, and a free mint for a new collection of Claynosaurs. I think I'm going to come out ahead on this one, but I'm also just so pumped with the possibilities here. * Helium merge to Solana is also live as of today. Helium is running on Solana and I get one free month of service from Helium with my phone. So I have no idea how to use it, but I'm going to figure it out. But I'm bullish on other protocols doing their own research and finding what they need in Solana. * Bonk is performing super strong and I think it's going to outperform Solana in the near future because of the organic ownership and fun it creates. We're seeing Dogecoin pump again, and I can't even get myself to buy any, there isn't anything that it is better at than Bonk other than it has Elon's heart and soul behind it. * Regulation news: we saw a hearing yesterday with Gary Gensler on the stand and legislators had time to question him. He sounded like an absolute idiot, dodging yes and no questions and did not really have anything of substance to say other than crypto is non compliant with the laws and banks failed because of it. He was chair when FTX went down and is using his press releases as a form of regulation. No clarity and the companies that are trying to be in compliance get no direction. What we did see is the Republican's come together and rally against him. Legislation was introduced to remove him because of his incompetence and his pushing out of innovation out of the US. Again we see the right is rallying behind crypto and I'm having a hard time not seeing this trend continue. Bullish on the new Trump collection selling out another 45k pieces. * Closing Thoughts: I think we are in a pivotal moment in Solana history this week. We are getting the first crypto native phone that you can run on a crypto native 5g network, and we are seeing novel use cases for cryptocurrency based on the unique properties of Solana. I couldn't be more bullish on the Solana narrative as I am right now and I hope that this energy continues. We are also seeing the crypto narratives in general being proved out in congress as we speak. We are seeing a shift in the right direction, or at the very least getting started. Let's have a great rest of the week and thank you for joining in on the fun. This is a public episode. What's up everyone! We've got prices going up, we've got volume up, and I'm having fun. I hope you are as well and I want to get into what we're seeing. A couple things from relistening to last weeks' episode that I want to change. It wasn't the SEC that was charging CZ from Binance, it was the CFTC which was charging Binance and CZ. I don't know why I was winging that when I could have just Googled it, but I'm learning over here! CFTC is the Commodities Futures Trading Commission and they are charging them with offering derivatives to US customers. It's just another regulatory attack against exchanges. We're going to continue to see this and need to stand up for our right to crypto. Also only y00ts had bridged last week, this week we saw the DeGods move.* Solana Price Update: A review of the current price of Solana and its performance over the past week. Sitting at $20.72, up a whopping 3% with tighter range for the week of a low of $19.65 and a high of $21.50. It does seem to be catching little pumps from either BTC or Eth when they catch a bid. So I'm optimistic. * Solana vs. Ethereum: Down to .01096 with a 5.7% decrease on the week. We're seeing some action on ETH which had trouble breaking resistance at $1850. It broke that and we are sitting around 1900 and I won't be surprised when it breaks 2k. * Solana vs. Bitcoin: Sitting at .000742 which is a decrease of only 1.8%. So we're tracking pretty well with BTC, which I still think is strong because I'm only expecting more strength from BTC. All I want is more BTC on Solana. FTX kind of f'd that up with their bridged BTC not being backed by anything. But Jump has bridged WBTC and it's got some volume. I want more, and will fight for it. * NFT Happenings: DeGods did the bridge, tons of volume in SOL though. We saw SolCasino mint and it quickly 2x'd from their 12 sol mint. Now it's dipped down to 16 because they have shitty messaging and announcements that no one can understand. Oogy reveals this Friday and is still sitting at a good pump of 26.4 Sol. The Apes are back! Degenerate Ape Academy is getting ready for their release of their V2, and I forgot just how loud that community is. Good to see it, and the drops of the new art is immaculate. Mono is the goat. They are sitting at almost 62 Sol from dipping to around 40. Lily is also doing well, they had a snapshot for their airdrop and the marketing is only getting better. Famous Foxes continue to crush, I did some analysis of my bags and realized that I'm actually a Fox maxy and they are the biggest part of my NFT portfolio now. FFF's at 66, TFF's at 19. I bought some Toonies because they look sick, but they are tanking down to 1.8, so we'll see if their deflationary tactics can get them a pump. Wolf Capital's seeing a pump at 7.8, and I've been buying some Degen Poet 1/1's because he's freaking amazing. Gotta also give a shoutout to Cyber Samurai's, I think their super undervalued, and Shake is a Goat. Their alpha channels are so legit. Also getting more and more pilled on the Monkey Baby Business, it's the best discord I've ever joined and I get all my alpha from there now. * The Queks are BACK! If you want a project that feels like an Eth project, no communication and you wait until a whale sweeps, boy we do we have a project for you! Ha, but I do like that they don't have expectations or utility, liking this more and more because the expectations are getting ridiculous. * SMB and MonkeDao continue to battle. This time HGE is b******g because he's waiting 60 days to start doing work on the SMB project. So he said he's not selling to MD, but I've seen other convo's with Skelly and Nom have been productive. So who knows if HGE is being dramatic or if he's calling it. Seems dumb and I want to sell, but I'm not. * Still so bullish on the Solana Phone, releasing for public on April 13th! These have the potential to be a massive game changer for ALL crypto and couldn't be released at a better time. * Magamigos - a MAGA version of the popular nakamigo's has dropped and I love it. I think we'll see more of this and want to see it on Solana. I'm not a maga maxi, or even a Republican. But I live in the US and I believe in crypto. The democrats are literally creating an anti crypto army while all the pro crypto legislators are Republican. It goes to the nature of smaller government, less intervention, more freedom and at a time like this it couldn't be better. Trump's policies look better and better the crazier the current administration is acting. Him getting arrested is only going to get him closer to winning another election. Enough politics! I still think his collection is bullish, his wife dropped a collection on Sol, we could see growth in a Maga Monkey Business deriv. Even without any maga stuff, I think we could see a DAO on Solana being pro crypto and supporting those that take a stand. I actually think it's necessary and if I can't find some to support I'm going to build it. * Closing Thoughts: Crypto's use case is only getting clearer, we're seeing volume, we're seeing macro conditions that are scaring everyone, and Solana continues to be the fun chain. I think we need to focus on that, we can use this amazing technology for fun. With that I'll leave you, hope you all have a good rest of your week and Happy Easter. This is a public episode. Thank you for joining me for the 16th episode of Solana Weekly, this is Thomas Bahamas we're going to dive into what happened this last week and what the long term implications are. Solana Price - $19.00 and it kind of seems to be holding up, almost hanging on to support. Big week of news from fed, kind of feeling bearish. We saw some strength at 20, but broke through there and might be seeing the dip from the network outage. SolEth -.0122 - we're dipping vs Eth. Tensor - bringing back the bull for NFT's? Airdrop, liquidity, removing undercutters. What this means. We were under 70k Sol volume for NFT's, and now we're well over 100k with Tensor taking over 30% market share. Overall NFT's are looking great on Solana. Been loving SolSniper to track volumes and Tensor's tools are so good. My concern with Tensor is that it literally turns NFT's into altcoins with pictures. You can just sweep and insta dump without looking at the NFT. Can't tell if this is the future or the end of the generative NFT collection being looked at as art. Mad lads - wl claim 1st wave done. I think it's looking super bullish and I haven't seen a single piece of fud about them or the Backpack wallet. Lily, clayno, geckos all pumping. Clayno's really pumping. Famous Foxes - over 70k/ week in revenue so bullish, they are looking real strong with FFF at 56, TFF at 18. I think they are so ripe for a pump. Also think they could do a Polygon tooling or drop and freaking crush. Shout out to degen mints in Monke Dao, these mfs create degen mints if there aren't any. Smol coin, bidets, screen shotter fractionalized, worms, mug shawty's of hot mug shotted women. The hustle doesn't stop. Monke dao voted down the release of their omc collection. Taking a week to recoup. Floor price seems to track back around 200. I think they were rushing everything anyways. Nft LA coming up - Monke Dao party set, heard Clayno will do another drop. Sol defi: Down horrendously, TVL is bottom of the food chain and now below some chain called “defichain.” Sucks, but we need to rebuild. The value proposition of defi on Solana is super high, but the market is not supporting that. The market is not valuing it this way, so we'll see if it's wrong, or if the uptime issue is a game changer. Eth Denver just finished up, cringy songs but looked like a good time. Seems like the price didn't tank massively, bullish. All quiet on the bonk front.Wallets - backpack is all the rage, also glow wallet is sick and probably the best mobile wallet. You can make any photo into an nft and use ai to generate pics.Ledger continues to suck with Solana and their latest update not connecting to phantom wallets. Leaving the door wide open for a better solution. Solana Phone - Q1 is ending soon and we should be seeing an announcement about availability. Saw a Bankless guy posting about issues with Uniswap not being able to get their wallet approved on Apple and went to say Solana Phone solves this, but it had already been raided. This is going to be a game changer. I still want to see some sort of sick defi way to fund the phone. Like lend Sol, borrow USDC, pay off monthly. I might just do something like that myself to talk about it. Bitcoin available on Solana, WBTC is back from Jump. Could this add to defi TVL? Yes. GBTC - Greyscale going to battle with the SEC, I think in order for the whole crypto market to heal we need a win here. Seems like they came out on the offensive and we saw the discount vs btc increase over 10% because of it. I think this is bullish for BTC and trickles down across the whole market. Thank you all and as Bunjil from Lily says all the time “Let's get this s**t.” This is a public episode. GM, GM all! We're riding the high from last week and getting noticed. Huge mint yesterday of BONKz, crazy performance out of Solana, crazy amounts of volume, and I'm loving it all. I would say the best part of this was that the market stayed relatively flat as a whole, but Solana caught a bid and wicked from mid $13 to mid $16 in a heartbeat. We've had crazy rain and flooding in California, but Solana is saying hold my beer and making it rain harder. Current price we mellowed out at $16 after hitting a high of $17.34, and I'm hearing this being described as a continuation to the short squeeze. It's the most interesting sector of the crypto market, and everyone is paying attention to it because this has been such a big move. I think this comes down to traders chasing volatility and with no easy trades or setups, attention goes to where volatility is. Come for the volatility, stay for the vibes? They damn well should, the vibes have been great. Bonk airdrop continues to have people integrating Bonk and figuring out fun ways to burn it and drop the supply. Meme coins are all over the place with Fronk showing up and the disgraced DeGods trying to meme it into a thing. Spoiler: they didn't and it dumped to 0. I just think they did a really good job getting the community together. I'm still sitting here waiting on that Bonk drop for quite a few projects, but not sweating it. Nom if you hear this, us whales at Crypto Duck Punkz are willing to burn a quek or two when we get the drop, please sir. SolEth is getting a little recovery with this as well, hitting up to .012Topics: BONKz - hyped drop. Mint in Bonk, burn that bonk, get yourself some sick art from some 1/1 artists that Bonk. It's a beautiful thing. We've got Degen Poet, John Le, Basket from Basket Fellas and more that came together under the OmniCollective that is connected to the Gods (formerly known as the SolGods.) I had whitelist because I'm holding that bonk, but so did over 100k others lol. So it was shitshow. It was launched on Magic Eden and we got some thoughts on that marketplace we'll get to. I spammed transactions from my phone and my browser for the whole 25 minutes it took to mint the project out and only got 1. I called this a Solana stress test and we won boys, pack it up bears. Magic Eden was the launchpad, they used their “open sourced” smart contracts to launch these on that protect their royalties. They also made it so that I couldn't mint and the one I did mint I couldn't send between wallets. This is not the answer. It's such a shame that a community driven project like Bonk is getting represented with a potentially sick NFT project, but it's basically not your NFT. It can only be traded or sent through Magic Eden at this point. It's terrible. I get that artists need royalties, but this just feels terrible. The best part? That the 4% royalties are going to a project that has no team, dao, discord or anything. So they are going to burn 2% and the rest goes to a fund. Not great. Backpack and privacy- Solana wallet from Armani, multiple accounts being inside the wallet that you can keep somewhat separate. Implications of safety when we get our Solana Phone's and how Backpack will be leading this charge. Google cloud buying millions of Solana? Maybe, sources? I made it up and read a tweet from a rando named Marty Party. Defi is pumping - Kamino and Orca pools for Bonk are almost maxed out again and TVL is getting pumped up. It's decided, defi is so f ing back. I've been getting more and more interested in NFT defi. I'm in on Frakt. I'm staking a Frakt NFT, hold some tokens, and I'm lending SOL for like 20% in one of their pools. It's great and it's an interesting use case for NFT's that's creating liquidity for people needing it, and generating yield on Sol. I've also been dabbling in Sharkyfi, and it's great. I used to hate it and dumped my sharks after seeing their terrible web page. But you can get passed it and get some killer deals. You can make short term loans to holders of NFT's at 40-60% of the loan to the value of the floor of the NFT, and get interest in the range of 100-240%. So you either get interest and your Sol back, or you get interest and the NFT back at a fat discount if they liquidate. I like it. My man Lolli who has been absolutely destroying the Bonk moves put out a manifesto this morning that I want to finish with. A community take over of sorts of the Solana blockchain moving from the economic incentives of the Solana Foundation to shift it towards the community being the focus with social consensus. It's insane, but also maybe a little brilliant. We washed out all the worst actors, grifters, and sociopaths, why not put a community standard in place? Rather than just follow along with a foundation like the Ethereum community, why don't we push for something radical? I like it, it's almost like building a DAO to help with the direction of the future of Solana. I would say that Toly is pretty hands off with this part actually, he's not pushing narratives, he's solving problems and enabling economic activity. This could be the part that takes us passed just another fast blockchain into a movement. Dream bigger my friends and let's see where we can go. That's why we chose Solana, and the big swings are starting to pay off. I'm hoping we can keep these levels and the excitement going. Until next week my friends, this is Thomas Bahamas and you've just listened to the 9th edition of SOLANA WEEKLYYYY!. This is a public episode. Gm, Gm all! It's a bear market, fud is all around us, crypto market is down, Solana is down, NFT's are mostly sideways, but still tons to go over. I've been debating the idea of how we move the space forward and have actually come around to the Web 3 narrative and think we should all get behind it. Why? It rebrands crypto, gives a much more positive connotation and also puts together all these different factions of crypto communities giving us one big central idea to push. All the different communities and coins and protocols are too much and the infighting does nothing. I normally cover what's the biggest fud, and it's the internal fighting. It's Eth vs BTC, it's Eth vs Sol, it's Solana NFT projects bickering about royalties. It's actually the biggest users and biggest bulls that aren't doing themselves any favors. I think a lot of these discussions aren't meant for the public and are boring af. A lot of this is arguing about the wires that power the internet, not the beautiful applications of the innovation that we can cheer on. I don't know how we go about changing this, but we gotta start with ourselves and choosing positivity over fud. Solana is a positive add to the web 3 space, and we need to be promoting digital assets that are fun and can be wholly owned and secured. * Solana Price - We're sitting at $12.19, we had a high of $14.70 and dumped to $11.70. The crazy part about this is that I can't even tell you why. It got scary on the lows, we recovered, but you know everyone is out there calling for sub $10. * Sol/Eth - nothing burger - sitting at .0100, still down bad.* NFT News - Mara's minted out yesterday, strong community and dope art from Near, Knittables are minting today and it looks like they are having some issues with the mint page being down. I gotta bring up the Trump drop. He dropped his trading cards and it was a smash. On Polygon. 45,000 individual pieces and they 10x'd before dropping. How do you bring about mass adoption? Bring in the niche communities and show them they can make money. Maga hit a 10x. They are a powerful community with 45 million votes for Trump as president. A former president (whether you like him and his politics aside) launched an NFT project and you're not bullish on the space? Come on! The way it was done was smart, it was a digital trading collectible. Easy to digest, pay $99, use a credit card if you want, and you get a digital card. Whether they will be able to actually find their wallet is yet to be determined. This proves that the more that we can simplify the wording, narrative, process, the better off we are. Growth is growth. * Defi news - Drift Protocol version 2 is live to everyone. I tested it out and it's clean AF. I think we need more of these and hope to see them succeed. I also got red pilled on Lifinity and their Flare NFT project as well as their defi protocol. I love everything about this, lock up your NFT for 6 months, earn yourself some tokens, lock those tokens, earn more. Also while you do that you are earning some of the revenue of the defi protocol. So it's not actually a ponzi, it's distributing profits. The team seems solid, community has been super welcoming. I also have to bring up some conversations that Toly has been having. He's been advocating for building out a CEX on Solana. I don't really know how this would work, but the idea would be something like a centralized organization having all reserves and addresses on chain so that you never have another FTX. I could see this being huge because the centralized experience is generally so much better. I watch Toly's Twitter debates like an avid sports fan that doesn't fully understand the sport, like it's rugby or something but it's my college so I'm rooting regardless. One of the main guys at Orca actually chimed in saying this is something they will do. Bullish. I tried pinging him in MonkeDao's Defi channel in Discord but haven't heard anything back. They also discussed this on the Unchained Podcast in the Episode with Cobie and Chris Burniske. * The quicky of the current thing - Trump, Polygon, multichain, L1's even profitable, NFT smart contracts being open sourced or siloed to Magic Eden, bear market, Bitcoin development, boredom, DCA. * Best FUD - I think that everyone's fudding, but everyone is just downbad. I think the biggest fud is people leaving the space because it's just not as fun. We're going to be down for a while, find some areas you can contribute to and add something positive. Or just DCA and work. Another thing I've been thinking about is how I'm going to actually use the Solana Phone. They start shipping Q1 and I'm an iPhone guy. I'm ready to upgrade my phone and debating getting a new iPhone or just going 100% Solana. I'll probably keep the iPhone because I don't want to have those green messages in the group chat and ruin it for everyone when someone likes a post. But we'll see. Anyways, this is Thomas Bahamas bringing you an okay recap of the week in Solana. This is a public episode. Many Web3 platforms require users to connect their crypto wallets before engaging with the platform in any meaningful way. Consequently, the Web3 experience on mobile devices is tedious at best, given current devices are not designed with such functionalities in mind. Solana Mobile — a subsidiary of the development team behind Solana — hopes to address the difficulties that surround the Web3 mobile user experience with its new Android phone called ‘Saga,' which is slated for release in early 2023. Last week, Solana Labs co-founder and CEO Anatoly Yakovenko announced the new mobile device, which will run a ‘Solana Mobile Stack' (SMS) operating system and will feature a marketplace for decentralized Web3 applications. In this episode of The Scoop, Anatoly Yakovenko said he believes Saga's early success will be linked to its ability to significantly enhance the mobile crypto user experience: “The theory is that crypto users might be crazy enough to switch from iOS to Android because of crypto. It might be so important to have that experience, that they're willing to change their habits.” If Solana Mobile is successfully able to prove there is consumer demand for crypto-forward mobile products, Yakovenko believes it will inspire major tech companies to integrate crypto infrastructure into their own mobile devices moving forward: “You need Google and Apple to do it, but they're not going to do it until there is proven demand that people need it — and so somebody has to kind of make that leap…” Episode 60 of Season 4 of The Scoop was recorded live at The Block headquarters in New York with The Block's Frank Chaparro and Anatoly Yakovenko, co-founder and CEO of Solana Labs. Welcome back, this week Anita was off on vacation so Lucas was joined by TC crypto reporter Jacquie Melinek to discuss what happened in the crypto world this week. They dove into the topic of the Solana Saga phone, discussed FTX's alleged interest in buying up Robinhood, and chatted about some of the crypto financial firms that are currently in deep... trouble. In this week's interview, Lucas chatted with Julian Holguin, the CEO of Doodles. Doodles is a very popular NFT project that has done just over $500 million in total sales volume. Holguin was previously a big exec at Billboard and has taken on the task of scaling the Doodles brand into an intellectual property powerhouse. The firm just banked its first round of venture funding from Alexis Ohanian and is gearing up for some big new NFT launches as it looks to keep the party going even amid a crypto downturn.Subscribe to Chain Reaction on Apple, Spotify or your alternative podcast platform of choice to keep up with us every week.Subscribe to the Chain Reaction newsletter to dive deeper: https://techcrunch.com/newslettersHelpful links:https://techcrunch.com/2022/06/27/ftx-says-no-active-talks-to-buy-robinhood/https://techcrunch.com/2022/06/23/osoms-ov1-is-now-solanas-web3-android-handset-saga/https://techcrunch.com/2022/06/30/north-korea-lazarus-harmony-theft/
