Coy & John react to all the best villain fights as well as the show's depiction of the classic struggle to balance coming of age as Peter Parker with the responsibility of being Spider-Man. With his appearance in Across the Spider-Verse + constant rumors of new Spider-Man films involving Tom Holland, Andrew Garfield, or Tobey Maguire, not to mention Sony's Spider-Mondays going on in theaters, it's a spectacular time to be a Spider-Fan! 2011 was a LONG time ago, 7 seasons and 1 pandemic later, here we are and somehow the Mirror is still Black. Sci-Fi seems to have given way to horror as this newest season of Black Mirror on Netflix is all about finger-pointing and (relatively) modern hi-jinx. Rivera Inc. has thoughts! EXTRA! EXTRA! James Gunn seems to have found his Superman and Lois and it looks to be headline news AAWA Charlie finds out that only thing more dangerous in the confines of an elevator than a Black Cat with sharp claws, is a Spectacular Spider!

This project began 222 issues ago. Nico and TK wanted to take a look at the MC2 to understand how such a promising line lost steam quickly in the larger perspective of comics but would go on in some form to be published for over 20 years. The journey took them from Spider-Girl and the initial line of J2 & A-Next to Fantastic Five and Wild Thing before coming to a sudden stop with Darkdevil and The Buzz. Spider-Girl lasted years by herself before the Last Standing double-header revitalized the line into an Amazing place with the return of Avengers Next & Fantastic Five, plus an American Dream mini. Now, the Spectacular era comes to an end – twice – before it is truly THE END for Spider-Girl. Kick things off with Spectacular Spider-Girl volume one's abrupt conclusions (0:00:00) before turning things over to the short-lived second era of Spectacular with the mini-series adaptation of what was clearly intended to be the final run of digital comics (0:40:30). Lastly, join the team as they almost say goodbye to Spider-Girl with Spider-Girl: The End, a tragic finale for Mayhem but a possibly promising new beginning for May Day (1:18:30) as the team begins to plan MC2.5, a look at all the relevant and connected stories from the 616 and beyond that bring it all back to 982. Strap in for one last trip to Earth 982 on an all new AU:MC2 on XI4P – we hope you survive the experience!

So we may have jumped the gun on thinking the MC2 was going to end anytime soon. As Nico and TK make their way to the end of the properly published MC2, things get....weird. The Amazing Spider-Girl era ends with TWO SPIDER-GIRLS, and their names are May and April and literally the MC2 will never be the same -- what's left of it! Amazing Spider-Girl #25-30 (0:00:00) takes May from a young woman struggling with her identity as a hero, occasionally fighting for her life, to a woman fighting for her actual personal identity as her clone steals her life! Then, join a very short lived era of Sider-Girl, sans Spider-Girl, as the crew look at the four short stories of Mr. & Mrs. Spider-Man (0:56:00)! Then, join the final adjective to join Spider-Girl before she leaves her own title (for now) with Spectacular Spider-Girl #1-8, which sees April join May's life for what can only be called the spring of the Parker's discontent (1:14:30). And while the plan had been to wrap things up with The End, there's the coming of MC2.5 -- and more May Parker stories, if the team can get through this last batch! Strap in for an all new AU:MC2 on XI4P – we hope you survive the experience!

July is Spectacular Spider Month at AiPT! and Adventures in Movies! is ready to celebrate. Joining Danny, Blake, and Nathaniel are joined by Forrest Hollingsworth from the AiPT! Comics Podcast. The Sinister not quite Six talk about their favorite Spider-Man movies and moments. The episode starts off with talk about the latest rumors surrounding Bond 25. The four agree that there should be disappointment around the casting but it may not be for the reasons you think. Emmy nominations were also announced and everyone gives their takes. Why are even Game of Thrones fans cheering for the show to win a certain award? Does any of it even matter? The four then talk about what they have been watching. Familar topics like Big LIttle Lies and Toy Story 4 are discussed, new subjects likes The Art of Self Defense and The Isle, and a revisit of the third season of Twin Peaks. The main topic of the episode is Spectauclar Spider Month. What is the best Spider-Man movie? Who was the best Spider-Man? What the hell happened to Danny? A seemingly normal topic in a very strange segment. Adventures in Movies! is hosted by Nathaniel Muir and Danny. You can find Nathaniel on Instagram at nathaninpoortaste. We'll talk about that and more as we continue our look at Essential Peter Parker: The Spectacular Spider-Man, Volume Three.Welcome to the Classy Comics Podcast where we search for the best comics in the universe. From Boise, Idaho here is your host, Adam Graham.Welcome back to our look at Essential Peter Parker: The Spectacular Spider-Man, Volume Three. There were not a ton of major villains who appeared in the book. I think more of the really heavy hitters tended to show up in Amazing Spider-Man; nevertheless you did have a few. Kraven and Electro were two major villains from Spiderman ‘s Silver Age; certainly Electro was not looked on as quite the big deal he had been back in the 1960s, although Kraven would have one of the best known Spider-Man story lines in just a few years. In The Spectacular Spider-Man appearance he's notable for appearing besides Calypso, a voodoo priestess who tried to help Kraven do away with Spider-Man, but Kraven viewed her methods as dishonourable and I think in that way showed a greater sense of honor than he had in a lot of his appearances in the Silver Age. Towards the end of the book we also get to see Doc Ock appear; however, his escape from prison is teased in Issue Seventy-Two but we don't actually see him until Issue Seventy-Three. They do instead an Issue Seventy-Two, I think is pretty clever. They tease the release but instead we made a kid who is part of a group of kids who run around dressing up as super villains for fun, and he's come up with the best Doc Ock costume ever complete with mechanical arms, and so he goes around town in it. Doc Ock is wanted – this leads to some confusion and introduction of a character who would be back about a dozen times or so. Issue Seventy-Three and Seventy-Four feature The Owl and Darkhawk, as well as Kingpin. I like the inclusion of The Owl since he was always more of a daredevil villain than a Spider-Man villain, and they make some slight reinvention of the character after he had been in a very critically-wounded conditions in his last appearance in Daredevil. There's some great action scenes as well as a battle over McGuffin with a very surprising resolution at the end of Issue Seventy-Four which closes out the book, which I won't spoil for you even though it was published thirty-five years ago. You also have a lot of minor lesser-known villains show up. There's The Smuggler who, in the book, makes a point of…used to be known as Power Man until Luke Cage cleaned his clock and won the right to use that title. Of course, now everybody knows Luke Cage is Luke Cage. Still he was never really a villain who was worthy of that name. There was Nitro who could blow himself up; there was Jack O'Lantern who had a Jack O'Lantern on his head, but in other ways ripped off the Green Goblin design. To me, the character doesn't look scary or intimidating – just looks kind of silly. There's The Ringer, there's The Beetle who I think they wanted to have as a major villain at one point, like back in the '60s but never quite made it; and he also appeared in the series with The Gibbon – a guy who was a bit of a Spider-Man fan but ended up disillusioned, running around in a Gibbon costume. There's The Ringer, Moonstone, Gold Bug, and probably one of the more interesting ones was Boomerang. Boomerang was a former Major League pitcher who threw boomerangs as part of his attempts at being an assassin, and he decided he wanted to be the Kingpin's point man to replace Bullseye. And so he decided to kill a witness who is rumored to be giving testimony tha...

Travel back to the early 1980s as we look at what made Spider-man's third series a worthwhile read in Essential Peter Parker, the Spectacular Spider-man, Volume 3 collecting Issues 54-74 and Annual #3. Affiliate link included. Transcript:Grab your web shooters and get ready for a trip back in time to the '80s as we take a look today at Essential Peter Parker: The Spectacular Spider-Man Volume Three.Welcome to the Classy Comics Podcast where we search for the best comics in the universe. From Boise, Idaho here is your host, Adam Graham.Welcome to the Classy Comics Podcast, and today we take our first look at the Essential line for Marvel with Peter Parker: The Spectacular Spider-Man Volume Three. And this book collects Twenty-One issues of Peter Parker: The Spectacular Spider-Man, Issues Fifty-Four to Seventy-Four, and Annual Number Three which featured cover dates from May of 1981 to January of 1983. Peter Parker: The Spectacular Spider-Man was actually the third Spider-Man series. Of course, Amazing Spider Man was the flagship of the Spider-Man line and then Marvel Team Up came along in 1972. And that was so successful that we got a third Spider-Man book in 1976. Generally when you've had multiple Spider-Man or multiple Batman books, when you get beyond two you begin to have some dodgy quality, but I don't think that was the case on Peter Parker: The Spectacular Spider-Man. I got the trades because they were not particularly expensive and I didn't know quite what I was going to get. I would actually have been pleasantly surprised by the quality overall. I should mention that this Marvel Essential book, like all of the Essential Marvel books are in black and white. This was one of the earliest wholesale reprinting of series via trade paperbacks. The Essential line launched in the 1990s and continued up till 2013. DC had a counterpart Showcase Presents that essentially did the same thing, and when you go on Amazon to look at a review you invariably find one or two people who will say these are all in black and white. But they were also relatively inexpensive. Throughout the run of the Essential books the price tag varied from $14.99 to $19.99, and you got sometimes five hundred pages upwards to perhaps even six hundred in a larger collection. You got all of the stories and the penciling and inking – just not the colouring, which is what made it affordable. Since then there have been other lines: Marvel's got its Epic Collection and DC is doing its omnibuses that are a bit more expensive but cheaper than some of the prior larger collections. But I still like the Essentials because they collect some series that are quite as popular and they are able to sell at the lower price point, and you still…they've started to do the Marvel Master Works with Peter Parker: The Spectacular Spider-Man, but they have not gotten nearest far into the series as The Essentials did. The book is written by two different writers: Roger Stern who would be promoted up to Amazing Spider-Man and write that series until Issue 250 and have a pretty celebrated run there, and also end up writing for Superman at DC Comics; and then there's Bill Mantlow who's a pretty underrated writer, particularly on Spider-Man. True, he didn't write too much on Amazing Spider-Man, but he wrote a lot of Marvel Team Up and he began his second long-term run on Peter Parker: The Spectacular Spider-Man. There are tons of artists who worked on this book and it varied from month to month who would be penciling it. John Byrne, the famous Superman writer-artist did do one issue of this and Jim Shooter did the art on a couple of issues. Beyond that, these are some of the lesser known names in comics that rotated on and off this project. Probably the most distinctive and interesting was Ed Hannigan who really did a very stylistic title page which is j...

Jumping spiders, members of the Salticidae family of arachnids, have a level of cognizance rarely seen in creatures of their diminutive size, which enables them to plan ahead and work out the most appropriate route to catch their prey. Scientists proved thi fact through a series of obstacle course-like tests, that have Anthony and Jeff terrified of the abilities of eight-legged predators.
