Hal Leonard, the world's largest sheet music and music education publisher, and music innovators Muse Group, launch MuseClass, an assignment, grading, and music content platform set to transform instrumental teaching (grade 6-12) in the U.S. MuseClass allows music educators and band directors to share, collect, and grade assignments on an easy-to-use platform, which also contains a curated library of educational content. Students receive assignments through the MuseClass app (available on iOS, Android & Chromebook), and can submit their progress as video or audio recordings, or upload worksheets.  One notable MuseClass feature is AutoGrade, the AI-powered practice tool. This pioneering technology listens to a student's performance and provides immediate feedback on timing and pitch, even for polyphonic instruments like piano or guitar. The tool can inspire students to repeat their practice sessions, or a teacher can set an AutoGrade challenge as an assignment. At launch, MuseClass includes free digital content from Hal Leonard's iconic Essential Elements, the gold-standard curriculum for bands and strings in the U.S. now available in concert with next-generation digital tools for the first time. The content library is set to rapidly expand in the coming school year with pedagogical scores and method books drawn from Hal Leonard's exclusively licensed, premium arrangements — current titles span everything from Taylor Swift and The Beatles to John Williams and Disney soundtracks. Teachers can also compose their own exercises or worksheets with MuseScore Studio, Muse Group's award-winning, intuitive notation software. The platform is completely free for all schools until August 1 2025 and will continue to be developed with close feedback from music educators. In year two, MuseClass remains free for teachers, with a $15.99 annual cost per student and custom offerings for school districts. MuseClass marks the first major release since Hal Leonard joined digital-content and technology leader Muse Group last year, with a shared vision to provide unparalleled access to the best resources to music makers worldwide. The new MuseClass reworks a Muse Group prototype, which is transformed with the addition of Hal Leonard's content catalog and unparalleled 70 years of experience collaborating with U.S. educators. The AutoGrade tool within MuseClass is the next step in the evolution of Muse Group's machine learning listening technology. In September 2023, the iPad app StaffPad launched ‘Piano Capture,' a feature that hears real piano performances and converts them into readable sheet music — technology recently spotlighted in Apple's M4 chiplaunch. In January 2024, the same capability was deployed in Ultimate Guitar's Practice Mode, extending this breakthrough technology to millions of digital music makers. Now in MuseClass' AutoGrade, a whole generation of young learners can enjoy the benefits of practicing and improving instrumental skills with AI-guidance. In the future, the MuseClass feature set and content library is set to expand based on the evolving needs of U.S. teachers — including print offerings for band leaders and Google Classroom integration. MuseClass software for Kindergarten to Grade 6 educators and for regions outside the U.S. is also coming soon.  MuseClass is available now, and completely free to get started in 2024. ‍

Seth Radman created, grew, and sold two music app startups in his twenties. A saxophone player in his college marching band, Seth was passionate about helping musicians and school band directors to improve how they learn music using technology. Seth was the founder and CEO of Crescendo, an interactive music trainer that provides real-time performance assessment feedback using acoustic pitch detection and machine learning as a mobile app. With a little angel funding, Crescendo grew to over 1M users and 7,000 schools before being acquired by Ultimate Guitar in 2018. He was also co-founder and CEO of Upbeat, a bootstrapped startup providing a virtual music collaboration platform for school music departments. When schools shut down during COVID, Upbeat allowed musicians to rehearse and perform music virtually with others in real-time without sound delays. Upbeat grew to over  200,000 users in 12 months and was purchased by 5,000 schools before being acquired in 2021 by MakeMusic. "Having a company acquired seemed like this big elusive goal that every founder wants to achieve. And then I did it. And then I wasn't sure what to do next at all, I was completely shocked on the first day," Seth says.  "I say it was one of the happiest days of my life when I saw the money hit the bank. And then the day after, that was probably one of the most depressing days of my life, because I was like, whoa, what do I do now? I definitely thought there was a little bit of loss of identity for me going through that. "And I spent the next several months kind of doing nothing. I was honestly just depressed. I just felt super lost and was not sure what to do. And that was a really tough period. " In this episode, Seth explains: How he had hundreds of product ideas, did hundreds of customer interviews, and ran dozens of experiments to eventually find problems that customers would actually pay to solve What product-market fit really means to him and why it's so important to experiment before you invest lots of time and money Why he felt that he wasn't the right person to scale up his first company and the deep anxiety he felt when he successfully sold it How he's managing the emotional ups and downs of being an entrepreneur now after experiencing mental health challenges How he leveraged an existing customer base and channel to rapidly grow his second startup as COVID lockdowns created an acute problem in the music teaching industry How he developed a strong persistence habit as a musician that helped him do hard things every day that he didn't want to do

The descent into the unconscious continues with a look at Kid A's eclectic middle. Austin escapes reality with "How to Disappear Completely," while Nick finds a way to quote James Joyce twice. They discuss the use of ambient tracks in the rock canon, and ponder if Led Zeppelin was ruined for Austin by the hilariously campy film, "The Song Remains the Same." Along the way they briefly debate how time flows and how to find Kid A's secret booklet. With Chris & Aaron out of town for an interview, this week we look back on a DBG Classic as we revisit Albums Unleashed - Alice Cooper's Dada with guest Dick Wagner. Chris and Aaron are currently working with the Dick Wagner Remember the Child Fund this week; conducting an interview with a legend of the music industry for a future project with the charity. In honor of the charity, they thought it best to republish this classic interview with Dick Wagner in his honor. Original notes below:Released in 1983, DaDa was, for all intents and purposes, dead on arrival due to being the final album in Cooper's contract with Warner Brothers as well as the out-of-the-box style of songs. Part art-rock, part esoteric/theatrical concept, DaDa's synthesizer-infused production combined with a healthy amount of humor crossed with dark subject matter left 1983 audiences confused; and they weren't the only ones. The early 80's were a self-professed "blackout" period for Alice Cooper with the rocker going as far as saying that he barely even remembers the songwriting process or production of this album. Cooper's lack of recollection has led many die-hard Cooper fans to create their own theories as to the concept behind DaDa. Guitarist/composer Dick Wagner, a longtime collaborator of Alice's, was the principal songwriter on this album and was kind enough, while in Nashville in May of 2014, to sit down with Aaron and Chris to discuss the entire album track by track and memory by memory. In this discussion, Wagner shares his memories of the difficulties that led to getting Alice to come to ESP Studios in Buttonville Ontario from his Pheonix home to join he and producer Bob Ezrin in the making of DaDa. Alice's alcohol abuse hit record highs during this period and Dick shares his recollections of their songwriting and recording process that led to the songs on the album. From the creepy title track's intro that features producer Ezrin aping a psychiatrist talking to Cooper as DaDa's featured character over a bed of strange reverberating sounds and the voice of a child calling out for its father to the dark tale of self-destructive realization that is album closer 'Pass the Gun Around,' Wagner tells the story of the album's basic concept.During this in-depth discussion of 1983's DaDa, Dick Wagner reveals the inspiration for the man-in-the-attic track 'Former Lee Warmer' and how, while it has horror opera feel, it's true roots lie in a bad business realtionship with Alice's record label.A fantastic fan-created theory of the albums concept and storyline was written online in 2008 for Ultimate-Guitar.com by a user named madpaperboy89. Aaron and Chris were so intrigued by the review that they read parts of it to Dick to get his take on it. As you'll hear in the discussion, the writer was spot-on in parts. As you'll hear in this installment of Albums Unleashed, DaDa still holds a very special place in Dick Wagner's heart and it's finally earning some much-deserved attention after all these years.Decibel Geek is a proud member of the Pantheon Podcasts familyContact Us!Rate, Review, and Subscribe in iTunesJoin the Facebook Fan PageFollow on TwitterFollow on InstagramE-mail UsSubscribe to our Youtube channel!Support Us!Buy a T-Shirt!Donate to the show!Stream Us!Stitcher RadioSpreakerTuneInBecome a VIP Subscriber!Click HERE for more info!Comment BelowDirect Download

More Than a Song - Discovering the Truth of Scripture Hidden in Today's Popular Christian Music

God calls us into His story through Christ. But before we place ourselves in the middle of His story, we need to remember the Bible is God's grand story of redemption through His Son, Jesus Christ. Olivia Lane's new song "Woman At The Well" inspires us to explore a story in John 4 afresh. Join me as we study this story in context and learn more about Jesus. This week I had a really impressive guest. Maura Weaver of Ogikubo Station, Direct Hit, and The Homeless Gospel Choir joined me to talk about her journey in music. Maura began the discussion talking about touring with three different bands. We soon explored her time in the UK last year, which included two separate trips. We talked about being on tour with Jawbreaker.. a band Maura made covers of their songs as a teenager. When Maura first got into music she read an article about the best punk albums of all time and made an effort to buy every CD on that list. We chatted about how good of a bassist Matt Freeman (Rancid) is, playing an acoustic tour as opposed to having amps and loud drums, and how it's refreshing to dabble in different bands. We went back to her young where Maura brought up she got into music because of her father who plays classical piano. Maura admits that she is fortunate to play music full-time and then gets into the story about her introduction to Direct Hit. She tells a funny story about how she didn't have the opportunity to practice with the band before her first tour with them and said she was freaking out before. Maura talks about growing up in Cincinnati and explains her experience at shows -- which wasn't the most encouraging experience for a young female musician. We soon talk about the beginning of Mixtapes, the first few tours -- which included The Wonder Years, having good writing chemistry with Ryan, and the band splitting up after a successful release. Maura remembers back to her teenage years again and talks about a rock camp that she attended (found it through Ultimate Guitar). She also brings up dealing with the ups and downs of the music industry at a young age. We finish off the interview talking about the period after Mixtapes, the band Boys, and meeting Mike Park. All Maura ever wanted is to be in a band and she's definitely doing that now. And it's been a real pleasure to dive into his web and podcast archives and have this opportunity to speak with him on our show.   In this conversation we talk about:   • Why performing regularly was so important to his finding freedom of creative expression and tapping into his musical instinct on guitar • What he recommends to beginner song writers trying to find inspiration • The conflict between thinking about "passion" and "inspiration" versus just getting solid creative work done day after day • His number one tip for musicians collaborating in a band or other creative projects   One thing we love about David is his ability to balance the creative spirit with the down-to-earth practicalities of being a musician. Completamente agradable y recomendado. CD2 2.1 Concierto De Aranjuez: II.
