By the end of what is already a complete shithole year, we will have discussed a dozen movies by the dreary Danish auteur Lars von Trier. We're now over halfway there. Today's film discussion is one of his most notorious and amongst the smallest casts we've ever discussed for a movie. It only stars Willem Dafoe and Charlotte Gainsbourg (and somebody's little German kid) as “He and She” who are struggling to cope with the loss of their child who crawled out the window while they were love tunneling. “He” decides to dedicate psychiatric techniques upon his wife and go out to a secluded cabin in the woods called Eden. It's there when the nature of evil, and the evil of nature, unravel all around them. Hold onto your dicks and clits, folks. Von Trier's psychological horror ‘ANTICHRIST” from 2009 lives up to its brutal reputation. Don't mind the stillborn fawn and the fox eating itself. They will check up on us later. Skyline Frankfurt am Main Foto (c) AdobeStock_169691347Für den Motorjournalisten Michael Weyland war die Idee, einen Roadtrip von Trier nach Frankfurt zu machen, so etwas wie „Back to the roots.“  Im Westerwald angesiedelt ging es zum Jurastudium nach Trier, als Motorjournalist ständig zum Flughafen Frankfurt, um von dort zu den Veranstaltungsorten von Automobilpräsentationen zu starten. Foto: privat Darum geht es diesmal!In der vergangenen Woche haben wir in unseren „Autoreisetipps“ einen „bytheways“-Tipp des Mietwagen-Anbieters Sunny Cars unter die Räder genommen. Vorgeschlagen wurde eine Strecke von Trier über Koblenz nach Frankfurt. Heute geht es auf den zweiten Teil mit Startpunkt in Koblenz. Damit wir uns nicht falsch verstehen. Natürlich müssen Sie dazu keinen Mietwagen des Anbieters nutzen, die Tipps fallen eher unter „Kundenbindung“ oder „Kundenaquise“ und das ist völlig in Ordnung, denn die Tipps sind natürlich auch für Touren mit dem eigenen Wagen umsetzbar. Wer sich für schiefe Bauwerke interessiert, muss dazu nicht unbedingt nach Pisa fahren. Für Architekturfans liegt auf der Strecke in Richtung Wiesbaden ein interessanter Stopp, etwa eine Autostunde von Koblenz entfernt. Das „schiefe Haus von Idstein“ macht seinem Namen alle Ehre. Der ursprüngliche Bauherr bestand im Mittelalter darauf, als Zeichen seines Standes das höchste Haus der Gegend zu erbauen. Obwohl die zuständigen Architekten ihm abrieten, ließ er ein 3-stöckiges Fachwerkhaus entstehen. Das heutige Erscheinungsbild gibt der statischen Einschätzung der Experten von damals recht. Es vereint Höhepunkte aus Natur- und Kunstgeschichte. Jung und Alt können sich auf eine Entdeckungsreise zu den Meisterwerken der lokalen Künstler und umliegenden Landschaft begeben. Main-Metropole in all ihren Facetten - Ein erster Blick    Bevor der Endpunkt Frankfurt erreicht wird, kann man sich im Regionalpark Besucherzentrum einen Überblick über die Region verschaffen. Am Stadtrand empfiehlt sich ein Besuch des eindrucksvollen Bolongaropalasts mit seinen Spiegelwänden, Deckengemälden, Seidentapeten, Stuckdecken und kunstvollen Porzellanöfen. Tierisch gutes Roadtrip-Ende         Dass Frankfurts Shoppingmeile eine breite Palette von Einkaufsmöglichkeiten mit traditionellen Kaufhäusern, Boutiquen und Flohmärkten bietet, dürfte bekannt sein. Und wer nach einem anstrengenden Shoppingmarathon Entspannung sucht, der ist im 1858 gegründeten Zoo der Stadt bestens aufgehoben. Und hier endet auch unser Roadtrip von Trier nach Frankfurt. Hier fühlen sich Klein und Groß zurückversetzt in das dritte Jahrhundert nach Christus. Die Bauweise des Klosters beeindruckt ebenso wie der Blick auf die damalige Lebensweise der Mönche. Nach lediglich 15 Minuten erreicht man Kordel. Die alten Gemäuer liegen inmitten von malerischen Weinbergen rechts der Mosel. Die Bauzeit dieser so genannten Hangburg lässt sich bis ins 12. Jahrhundert datieren. Solche Burgen dienten im Mittelalter unter anderem als befestigte Zollstationen zur Erhebung des Schiffzolls an Flussläufen.   Stadt – Land – FlussIn Koblenz angekommen genießen Reisende die beeindruckende Aussicht vom „Deutschen Eck“. Dort mündet die Mosel in den Rhein. Die Bedeutsamkeit war schon zu Zeiten Kaiser Wilhelm I. bekannt, seit 2002 zählt es zum UNESCO Weltkulturerbe. Mit der Zuschüttung des damaligen Nothafens an der Moselmündung, erschuf sein Enkel Kaiser Wilhelm II. ein Denkmal für seinen verstorbenen Verwandten – so entstand das Deutsche Eck in seiner heutigen Form. Nur wenige Gehminuten vom Deustchen Eck entfernt geht es in die sehenswerte Koblenzer Altstadt mit Boutiquen und Bars. Und hervorragenden Restaurants verschiedenster Essensrichtungen.  In der kommenden Woche geht unser Roadtrip dann weiter nach Frankfurt. All throughout the year, mostly every month and maybe a few twice a month, we will be talking about a dozen movies by the Unsane Dane himself. A polarizing man. Controversial. His movies? Heavily contemplated, quite scrutinized and often beloved. Everyone might have a von Trier movie they are partial too. What keeps Charlotte Gainsbourg and Stellan Skarsgård coming back? Fisher is missing some memories of a previous police case so a hypnotist in Cairo drags him back to his experience hunting a serial killer with the help of an old mentor's book.
