In this episode of That Would Be Rad, we dive headfirst into one of the strangest intersections of religion, history, folklore, and the modern UFO phenomenon. For decades, reports of mysterious craft and non-human intelligences have captured the imagination of millions. Governments investigate them. Fighter pilots report them. Entire belief systems have formed around them. But long before congressional hearings, Pentagon footage, and discussions about "non-human intelligence," a group of Orthodox Christian mystics and saints were issuing a very different warning. What if the phenomenon is real... but not extraterrestrial?Join Woody and Tyler as they explore the ancient world of Orthodox Christianity, the Desert Fathers, aerial spirits, Ezekiel's famous "wheel within a wheel" vision, the Nephilim, medieval encounters with strange beings in the sky, and the teachings of four influential Orthodox holy men who all arrived at a remarkably similar conclusion about UFOs.What We Talk About in This Episode:• Why UFOs and UAPs have suddenly become mainstream topics of discussion• The Pentagon, military encounters, and the rise of "non-human intelligence" conversations• What Orthodox Christianity actually is and why it differs from most forms of Christianity in America• The Desert Fathers, spiritual warfare, and the Orthodox tradition of discerning spirits• Ezekiel's bizarre vision and why UFO researchers have been fascinated by it for decades• The Nephilim, the Book of Enoch, and ancient stories of beings descending from the sky• Medieval encounters with faeries, aerial beings, and mysterious sky phenomena• St. Gabriel Urgebadze, St. Paisios of Mount Athos, St. Porphyrios, and Fr. Seraphim Rose• Why these four influential Orthodox figures all viewed UFO encounters through a spiritual lens• The fascinating idea that humanity may interpret the same unexplained phenomena differently depending on the culture and era• Whether modern UFO encounters are something entirely new—or simply the latest version of a mystery humans have been trying to explain for thousands of yearsWhy You NEED to Listen:Whether you're a skeptic, a believer, a Christian, an atheist, a UFO enthusiast, or just someone who loves exploring strange ideas, this episode is guaranteed to make you think. This isn't an episode about proving that aliens are demons. It's an exploration of one of the most fascinating questions we've ever discussed on the show:If something beyond human understanding really was interacting with humanity... would we even recognize it for what it truly is?So grab your Bible, your tinfoil hat, or maybe both—and join us as we venture into one of the weirdest rabbit holes we've explored in a long time.Be Rad.RAD WAYS YOU CAN SUPPORT OUR SHOW:JOIN OUR PATREON: Exclusive episodes, bonus content, and behind-the-scenes weirdness: patreon.com/thatwouldberadBUY US A COFFEE: Fuel our late-night research sessions — buymeacoffee.com/thatwouldberad ☕️CHECK OUT OUR MERCH: Grab official That Would Be Rad gear — thatwouldberad.myspreadshop.comSHOW INFO:

In this episode of That Would Be Rad, we accidentally tumble headfirst into one of our favorite kinds of episodes. The kind that feels like staying up too late with your best friend talking about all the weird, nostalgic stuff that shaped your childhood. After an unexpectedly chaotic week of migraines, broken computers, school events, sports, and life generally trying to body slam us through a folding table, we decided to ditch the pressure and just hang out. And somehow that led us into a massive rabbit hole involving Encino Man, forgotten 90s cartoons, Batman: The Animated Series, Pauly Shore's bizarre rise to fame, comic book art, old toy lines, and why the early 90s still feels like some kind of magical alternate universe. And honestly? This might be one of the most “That Would Be Rad” episodes we've ever done. What We Talk About in This Episode:Why Encino Man might secretly be the PERFECT 90s movieA deep nostalgic dive into Captain Planet, Bionic Six, C.O.P.S., MASK, and forgotten cartoons from the late 80s and early 90sBatman: The Animated Series and why it still might be one of the greatest animated shows ever made.Absolute Batman, comic book art, Daniel Warren Johnson, Nick Dragotta, Felix Comic Art, and Tyler's thoughts on the comic industry todayA shoutout to listener Siobhan Berry and her incredible podcast Grandma's Been There about growing up in the 50s and 60sWhy old movies, VHS tapes, cartoons, comic shops, and Blockbuster-era culture still feel so comforting to usWhy You NEED to Listen:This episode honestly feels like opening an old box in the attic and finding your childhood inside. If you grew up in the 80s or 90s - renting movies from Blockbuster, watching cartoons after school, collecting baseball cards, reading comics, or quoting dumb movies with your friends - this one's going to hit you right in the soul. It's funny, nostalgic, weirdly emotional at times, and packed with the exact kind of conversations that made us want to start this podcast in the first place. So grab a Surge, throw on your favorite flannel, and come hang out with us for a while.Be Rad & Wheeze the juice, buuuddy.RAD WAYS YOU CAN SUPPORT OUR SHOW:JOIN OUR PATREON: Exclusive episodes, bonus content, and behind-the-scenes weirdness: patreon.com/thatwouldberadBUY US A COFFEE: Fuel our late-night research sessions — buymeacoffee.com/thatwouldberad ☕️CHECK OUT OUR MERCH: Grab official That Would Be Rad gear — thatwouldberad.myspreadshop.comSHOW INFO:
What happens when you've done everything you know to do… and you're still tired? In this season finale of Honey For Your Heart, we're sitting in that honest question together. After a season of walking through grief, waiting, gratitude, hidden growth, and staying under mercy, this episode brings us back to the simplest—and hardest—invitation of all: dependence on God. Because spiritual maturity isn't about needing Him less. It's about realizing how deeply we need Him for everything. If you're feeling weary, unsure how to keep going, or wondering what comes next—this conversation will gently bring you back to what matters most. Not striving. Not figuring it all out. Just staying near. What We Talk About in This Episode Why exhaustion often comes from carrying what was never ours to hold The truth about spiritual growth (and why it leads to more dependence, not less) The tension between wanting understanding and choosing God's presence What we can learn from Joseph, Job, and the Israelites about trusting God in hard seasons Why gratitude and remembrance are essential to sustaining faith The power of "memorial stones" and why your hardest seasons matter How God uses the fire to burn away what was never meant to hold you Why your story is bigger than you—and how your faith impacts others What it really means to "stay under mercy" in everyday life Key Scriptures Genesis 2–3 (The Garden: knowledge vs. intimacy) Job 38 (God's response to suffering) Isaiah 40:26 ("Lift up your eyes…") Joshua 4 (Memorial stones of remembrance) Daniel 3 (The fire that frees) Colossians 1:17 ("In Him all things hold together") Key Takeaways You don't outgrow your need for God—you grow deeper into it. God's presence is often given in place of the understanding we want. Gratitude trains your eyes to see where God is already at work. The hardest places in your story may become the clearest evidence of His faithfulness. Growth isn't always visible—sometimes it looks like simply continuing to show up. You are not holding your life together—He is. A Final Word If you're ending this season still tired… still waiting… still carrying questions— You're not behind. You're not failing. You're being formed. So don't strive harder. Don't try to hold it all together. Just stay near. Connect + Continue the Journey If this episode encouraged you, share it with a friend who may need it too. And if you haven't already, be sure to follow along so you don't miss what's coming next. Closing Reminder You are seen. You are known. You are deeply loved. And you are never walking alone.

Today I'm with Bob Arrington, funeral director, Past President of the National Funeral Directors Association (NFDA), and a lifelong leader in funeral service, to talk about a topic most people avoid—but one that has a profound impact on the people we love. We talk about end-of-life planning, funeral pre-planning, and why these decisions matter long before they're needed. Bob shares insights from more than five decades in funeral service, offering a clear and compassionate perspective on how planning ahead can reduce both the emotional and financial burden placed on families during times of grief. This conversation breaks down what many people don't realize: when nothing is planned, families are often left making difficult decisions in the middle of shock and loss. And those decisions can be overwhelming. Bob explains how pre-planning gives families clarity, removes guesswork, and creates space to focus on what truly matters—grieving, honoring, and remembering their loved one. We also explore how conversations around death don't have to be morbid—they can actually be one of the most meaningful ways to care for the people you leave behind. This episode is about preparation, compassion, and protecting your family—and understanding that planning ahead is not about death, but about love.
In this episode of Tendrils of Grief, I sit down with Dr. Stephen Paul Edwards to explore how grief doesn't just affect our emotions—it shapes our relationships, our behaviors, and the patterns we carry forward in life. We talk about how loss can influence the way we connect with others, the unconscious patterns that show up after grief, and why so many of us find ourselves repeating the same emotional cycles without fully understanding why. Dr. Edwards brings a deeper psychological perspective to grief, helping unpack how our past experiences, attachments, and internal narratives influence the way we process loss and navigate relationships moving forward. This conversation goes beyond surface-level grief. It looks at what grief reveals about us—how it exposes patterns, challenges our identity, and pushes us to confront parts of ourselves we may not have fully seen before. We also explore how awareness is the first step toward change. Because when we begin to understand our patterns, we can start to shift them—and create healthier, more intentional relationships in our lives. This episode is about grief, self-awareness, and growth—and the opportunity to not just survive loss, but to understand what it's trying to teach us.

Not all gassy strains come in hot and punch you in the throat. This week on Cannabis School, we break down E85 from Buzz, a gas-forward flower that is way smoother and more balanced than the name might make you think. No, it does not hit like the worst gas station decision you could make for your car. This one is actually pretty damn nice.Using the Storz & Bickel Volcano, we found E85 to be smooth, mild on flavor, and surprisingly easy to enjoy for a gas strain. The aroma leans gassy, but it is not an over-the-top diesel bomb. The flavor stays pretty mellow, and the whole ride feels more polished than harsh.Where this strain really starts to stand out is in the cannabinoid and terpene profile.Top Terpenes:LimoneneBeta-CaryophylleneLinaloolAlpha-PineneBeta-PineneNotable Cannabinoids:CBGA: 10.2 mg/gCBG: 1 mg/gCBD: 0.9 mg/gThat combo matters.Higher CBG and CBGA levels can be especially interesting for people looking at cannabis for daytime pain support, especially in colder months when joints start acting like they are collecting rent. This episode gets into exactly that, how certain strains can help with pain without dropping you on the couch, and why those minor cannabinoids deserve a lot more attention than they usually get.We also get into topicals, homemade balm, tinctures, dabs, vaporizing, and why finding the right cannabis protocol is about way more than just smoking flower and hoping for the best. What We Talk About in This Episode:Buzz E85 and why it is smoother than most gas strainsWhy limonene, caryophyllene, linalool, and pinene make this one interestingHow CBG and CBGA can matter for daytime pain reliefWhy winter makes aches and inflammation hit differentHomemade cannabis balm and the very real impact topicals can haveWhy vaporizing can completely change the experience of a strainThe role of set, setting, and conversation in how a strain landsWhy some strains hit better solo and others shine sociallyConcentrates, tinctures, and dialing in cannabis beyond just flowerUtah cannabis laws and the weirdness around flower, flame, and enforcementHow E85 Felt for Us:This one came across as:EnergeticHappyCreativeFocusedChattySocialSmoothIt has enough lift to keep you engaged, enough calm to stay comfortable, and enough clarity that it feels useful instead of foggy. That makes it a really solid option for a Saturday strain, a social strain, or even a daytime work strain depending on what you are doing. It is not sleepy. It is not heavy. It is not one of those gas strains that makes you regret the inhale. It is just smooth, functional, and easy to like.Best Fit For:Daytime useSocial hangsSaturday errands and projectsCreative sessionsPeople looking for a smoother gas strainConsumers curious about CBG-rich flowerThings to Note:Heavy cottonmouth showed upSlight dry eyesSmooth vapor, very little coughingMild gas flavor, not overpoweringE85 from Buzz is one of those strains that reminds you why looking past THC percentage and into terpenes and cannabinoids actually matters. What does it really mean to be a neurodivergent freelancer in photography? In this episode of The Nerdy Photographer, we talk openly about ADHD, autism, burnout, structure, creativity, and building a freelance career that works with your brain - not against it. If traditional advice has never worked for you, this conversation might finally make sense. What We Talk About in This Episode This interview covers the real-world realities of neurodivergent freelancing, including: Managing energy, attention, and overwhelm Creating structure without rigidity Navigating client communication and expectations Redefining success outside traditional productivity models Letting go of comparison and "shoulds" Rather than offering one-size-fits-all solutions, this conversation encourages photographers to design careers that reflect how they actually function. Redefining Professionalism Being professional doesn't mean masking. It doesn't mean burning yourself out to meet arbitrary standards. And it doesn't mean copying how others work. For neurodivergent photographers, sustainability often comes from self-awareness, boundaries, and permission to work differently. This episode is a reminder that there is no single way to be a "real" photographer - or a successful freelancer. In this episode of Sisterhood of S.W.E.A.T., Linda Mitchell sits down with Jon Taffer, America's hospitality authority, entrepreneur, best-selling author, and the force behind one of television's most enduring reality franchises, Bar Rescue. Season 10 of Bar Rescue premieres Sunday, February 22 at 10 PM ET/PT on Paramount Network, marking a major milestone for the hit series. For ten seasons, Jon has stepped into failing businesses, broken systems, emotional chaos, and high-pressure environments — transforming not just bars, but leadership, culture, and accountability. This season raises the stakes even higher with special guest appearances from *NSYNC's Chris Kirkpatrick and professional wrestler and actress Mercedes Varnado, bringing new energy and perspective to the rescues. In this conversation, Linda and Jon dive into what it really takes to rescue more than a business. They talk about leadership under pressure, the role of conflict in growth, resilience in the face of chaos, and what separates thriving brands from those that collapse under their own ego. This episode is about comebacks, standards, accountability, and the courage to confront what is broken. What We Talk About in This Episode What still surprises Jon after ten seasons The biggest mistakes business owners make before help arrives Why systems often fail because of leadership The difference between fixing operations and fixing people Why leaders avoid conflict and how that damages companies How to tell if someone truly wants change Lessons learned consulting for major global brands What new entrepreneurs must get right from Day One The role of ego in business failure Mental resilience in high-stress environments The most emotional rescues over ten seasons What makes Season 10 different Working alongside Chris Kirkpatrick and Mercedes Varnado The long-term vision for Taffer's Tavern The inspiration behind Taffer's Browned Butter Bourbon Quotes from This Episode You cannot fix a business until you fix the leadership behind it. Conflict handled correctly is growth in disguise. Systems fail when standards fail. You cannot save someone who does not want to be saved. Standards are not suggestions. They are commitments. In this episode of Sisterhood of S.W.E.A.T., Linda Mitchell sits down with Dr. John Osborne, board-certified cardiologist, lipidologist, and founder of Clear Cardio, to challenge conventional thinking around cholesterol and heart disease. Dr. Osborne explains why LDL cholesterol alone is not a reliable standalone marker for cardiovascular disease and why focusing only on traditional lab numbers can create a false sense of security. He shares how plaque can quietly develop for decades before symptoms appear — and why the first symptom for many people is a heart attack or sudden cardiac event. The conversation explores the evolution of cardiac imaging, the role of ApoB and lipoprotein(a) in risk assessment, and how advanced cardiac CT combined with artificial intelligence now allows physicians to detect, measure, and track plaque in ways that were previously impossible. This episode reframes heart disease as something that can be identified early — and potentially prevented — when the right tools are used. What We Talk About in This Episode Why LDL cholesterol alone does not tell the full story The difference between risk factors and actual disease How ApoB improves cardiovascular risk assessment Why lipoprotein(a) is genetic and should be tested at least once The limits of traditional stress testing How plaque forms in the arterial wall decades before symptoms Calcium scoring versus full cardiac CT imaging How AI is transforming plaque detection and measurement Whether arterial plaque can be slowed or reversed The real role of statins and other cholesterol-lowering tools Why you cannot out-train genetics The one scan adults over 40 should consider Quotes from This Episode Cholesterol floating in your bloodstream does not tell me if it is sticking. Risk is not disease. The first question should be: do you have plaque? Half of men and two-thirds of women, their first symptom of heart disease is a heart attack or death. The problem is not that we cannot treat plaque. The problem is that we are not looking for it early enough. Early detection for heart disease should be as routine as screening for cancer. In this episode of Ordinarily Extraordinary: Conversations with Women in STEM, host Kathy Nelson sits down with Dr. Elizabeth Mendes, a newly minted PhD and postdoctoral researcher whose work focuses on rare and aggressive pediatric cancers.Dr. Mendes recently completed her PhD at Duke University, where she spent over five years researching rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare childhood soft-tissue cancer. Her goal: identify new biological targets that could one day lead to better, more effective treatments for children. Kathy and Liz explore not only the science behind pediatric cancer research, but also the deeply human reasons that drive this work. What We Talk About in This EpisodeWhat pediatric sarcomas are—and why they're so challenging to treatLiz breaks down complex cancer biology in an approachable way, explaining how sarcomas differ from more common cancers and why their ability to “change form” makes them particularly dangerous.A non-traditional path into scienceFrom archaeology and zoology to teaching middle school math and science, Liz shares how curiosity—and not a straight line—ultimately led her to molecular biology, cancer research, and a PhD.Choosing pediatric cancer researchLiz explains why she decided to focus on rare childhood cancers that receive less funding but have devastating outcomes—and how personal experiences with cancer shaped that decision.Science close to the patientWe discuss the importance (and rarity) of researchers interacting directly with patients, families, and clinicians—and how those experiences fundamentally change how science is done.Life after the PhD: postdocs, fellowships, and moving to the UKLiz shares what it's like to finish a PhD, move countries, start a new research position, and navigate life and work during a major transition.Being your whole self in STEMFrom makeup and music to mental health and social media, Liz talks about rejecting outdated stereotypes of what scientists “should” look like—and why authenticity matters for the next generation.Representation, mentorship, and science communicationLiz reflects on why visibility matters, especially for women and first-generation students, and how platforms like social media can help make science more accessible and human.A Conversation About More Than ScienceThis episode goes beyond lab work and credentials. It's a candid conversation about grief, resilience, identity, and the responsibility scientists carry—not just to discovery, but to people. Liz's story is a powerful reminder that STEM careers don't require fitting into a mold—and that compassion belongs in science. If you enjoyed this episode:Rate and review the podcast on Apple Podcasts or SpotifyFollow or subscribe so you never miss an episodeShare with a friend, colleague, or student who might need this storyHave thoughts, questions, or guest suggestions?Email us at ordinarilyextraordinarypod@gmail.com or leave a voicemail on our website.Support the show
In this episode of Sisterhood of S.W.E.A.T., Linda Mitchell sits down with filmmaker and investigative producer Dan Farah to explore some of the most provocative questions of our time: have governments hidden evidence of non-human intelligence for decades, and what does a global disclosure look like? Dan has interviewed senators, intelligence chiefs, fighter pilots, Pentagon insiders, and other high level sources — and the patterns they describe are consistent: we are not alone, and the truth about that has been withheld for more than 80 years. Dan's documentary The Age of Disclosure is currently the #1 documentary on Amazon Prime Video and claims to uncover an unprecedented, long-hidden narrative involving bipartisan testimony from 34 government, military, and intelligence figures. The film goes beyond speculation, exploring allegations of classified programs, advanced non-human technology, and a secret cold war among world powers to reverse-engineer exotic capabilities. In this conversation, Dan and Linda tackle the questions people are afraid to ask: what happens when a project like this stops feeling like a documentary and starts feeling dangerous, why sources are speaking out now, and whether the public is being protected or manipulated by secrecy. They examine the nature of power and control, what it would mean for society if disclosure happened tomorrow, and whether this is a slow preparation or an imminent revelation. This episode is a deep dive into history, secrecy, psychology, and the narratives that shape what we accept as "known." If you're curious about the intersection of policy, technology, and what may lie beyond conventional explanation, this conversation will stretch your thinking and invite you to consider perspectives far beyond the everyday. What We Talk About in This Episode: How the project transitioned from a documentary into something potentially "dangerous" Whether Dan was ever warned or discouraged from making the film Why insiders from across the political spectrum are now willing to speak publicly How the topic relates to aliens, intelligence, and global power structures What discovery of non-human intelligence might mean for society Whether governments are protecting or manipulating public awareness The claims in the film that may be hardest for the public to accept If gradual disclosure is a strategy or if a tipping point is near Connect with Dan: THE AGE OF DISCLOSURE - A FILM BY DAN FARAH AVAILABLE WORLDWIDE ON PRIME VIDEO X: @ageofdisclosure TikTok: @ageofdisclosure YouTube: @TheAgeOfDisclosure Instagram & Facebook: @ageofdisclosure www.theageofdisclosure.com

There's a specific kind of self-doubt that hits differently—the kind that comes from your own child. Maybe it's an offhand comment. Maybe it's eye-rolling. Maybe it's them saying the thing you were already secretly afraid of. And suddenly, something you felt excited about feels shaky, embarrassing, or even selfish. In today's episode of the No Guilt Mom Podcast, I'm sharing a real-life coaching session with one of our Inner Circle members. You'll hear what coaching actually sounds like and, more importantly, what happens when a mom is brave enough to try something new… and her child's reaction triggers every old fear. If you've ever felt afraid to put yourself out there, worried about being judged, or questioned your confidence as a mom, this episode is for you. What We Talk About in This Episode 1. Why your child's words can hit your deepest insecurities When your child says what you were already thinking, it can feel like proof that your fears are true—even when they're not. 2. How fear of embarrassment keeps moms stuck We unpack how people pleasing, perfectionism, and fear of judgment show up when moms try something new. 3. The difference between being inexperienced and being incapable Just because you're new doesn't mean you're bad at it—and this distinction matters more than you think. 4. How confidence is built through connection, not perfection You'll hear how small moments of human connection can dissolve overthinking and self-doubt. 5. What happens when you model courage for your kids Trying something scary doesn't just change you—it shows your kids what self-trust looks like in real life. Send us a textHave you ever made a decision and still felt bad afterward? No matter what you choose, there is guilt, second-guessing, or that lingering feeling that you are letting someone (or yourself) down.In this episode of Be Freaking Awesome, Sami Kinnison and Angela Belford unpack one of the most common but least named challenges people face: conflicting values. This is not about being indecisive or doing something wrong. It is about what happens when two things that both matter deeply collide in a specific season of life. What We Talk About in This EpisodeWhat conflicting values actually are (and what they are not)Why guilt, angst, and indecision are often clues that values are collidingHow competing priorities show up in work, parenting, relationships, and leadershipWhy you can care deeply about multiple things and still have to chooseHow seasons of life change which values need to come firstThe power of deciding what matters most right nowWhy being fully present where you are matters more than doing everythingHow to stop outsourcing your decisions to guilt or other people's opinionsWhy naming the conflict helps you move forward with clarity and self-trustAngela shares personal stories about navigating family, finances, career, and commitments, while Sami reflects on capacity, parenthood, and the reality of not having enough energy to give 100 percent everywhere. Together, they normalize the discomfort of hard choices and offer practical ways to approach them with intention instead of shame.Key TakeawayIf you feel guilty no matter what you choose, you are probably not failing. You are likely holding conflicting values, and the work is not to eliminate the guilt, but to name the conflict, choose intentionally, and be where you are.Resources Mentioned in This EpisodeThe Lazy Genius Way by Kendra Adachi(Including the principle “Decide what matters most” and the idea that priorities can change by season)The Lazy Genius Podcast by Kendra AdachiBig Little Feelings (especially the “10-Minute Miracle” for intentional connection with kids)Coming Up NextNext week, Sami and Angela dig into the Inner Critic, and why trying to “fire” it might actually make things worse. I'm joined by the incredible Beatriz Victoria Albina — a UCSF-trained Family Nurse Practitioner, Somatic Experiencing Practitioner, Master Certified Somatic Life Coach, Breathwork Guide, and bestselling author of End Emotional Outsourcing: A Guide to Overcoming Codependent, Perfectionist and People Pleasing Habits (Hachette Balance, 2025). Béa has spent over 20 years helping women reconnect with their bodies, regulate their nervous systems, and step out of old patterns that keep them stuck. Her work is powerful, deeply compassionate, and incredibly freeing. This conversation goes there — childhood patterns, emotional outsourcing, nervous system regulation, codependency, and the lies perfectionism tells us. But we also talk about reclaiming joy, taking up space, and how women can finally come home to themselves. Grab your journal, because this one is filled with moments you'll want to pause, reflect, and come back to. ✨ What We Talk About in This Episode What emotional outsourcing really is — and why so many women do it without realizing How childhood conditioning shapes our adult behaviors and relationship patterns Why our nervous system often runs the show and how to finally regulate it The connection between people-pleasing and feeling unsafe in your body How somatic work helps you heal at the root instead of endlessly "managing" symptoms Rewriting the perfectionist narrative and choosing good enough Finding your joy again when you've spent years prioritizing everyone else Breaking out of codependent patterns in friendships, relationships, and work How women can become their own safe place Why being surrounded by the right people changes everything

In today's episode, Cindra and Lisa talk about the timeless truth of high performance: You don't build confidence by eliminating fear. You build confidence by moving with it. Inspired by Dr. Susan Jeffers' classic book Feel the Fear and Do It Anyway (1987), this conversation explores why fear shows up, how it impacts performance, and how the world's best learn to step toward what scares them instead of stepping back. What We Talk About in This Episode 1. Why Fear Is Universal — and Why This Topic Matters Fear is the #1 barrier to our potential. And as Dr. Susan Jeffers taught decades ago, fear never fully goes away. Instead, confidence grows when we act in spite of it. Courage isn't about being fearless—it's about moving forward with fear in hand. 2. A Story About Fear on the Court Cindra shares the story of a college volleyball player moments before a championship match—shaking hands, tight stomach, racing thoughts. She feared missing a serve. She feared letting her team down. And she walked onto the court anyway. That act of courage allowed her to deliver one of the best serves of her season. The lesson: fear doesn't disqualify you. It prepares you. 3. How Coaching Helps You Work Through Fear Every coaching client—executives, athletes, leaders—hits a wall of fear when they stretch themselves. Coaching helps you name the fear, normalize it, and learn tools to navigate it so you can keep moving toward who you're meant to become. 4. Where Your Mind Goes When You're Afraid Fear doesn't live in the present. It lives in the future. Fear is your mind projecting a worst-case scenario, pulling you out of the moment. Research shows that when we anticipate threats, our working memory, decision-making, and performance all take a hit. Your best performance? It always happens in the present moment. 5. Why Embracing Fear Is Important for Growth The things you fear often reveal the places you're meant to grow. And research backs this: studies from Harvard Business School show that when people reframe anxiety as excitement, they perform significantly better—whether in public speaking, singing, or even difficult math tasks. The goal isn't to eliminate fear. It's to choose courage anyway. 6. The Difference Between Fear and Courage Fear is a feeling. Courage is an action. You can't experience courage without fear—fear is the doorway. When Cindra wrote her first book, she was terrified no one would read it. But she knew she was supposed to write it. So she moved toward what scared her. That's courage. Today's Big Takeaway: The world's best don't wait to feel fearless. They feel the fear—and do it anyway. Fear becomes a signal that they're doing something meaningful and important. This Week's Power Phrase: "I lean into the fear — and let courage lead." In this conversation, I sat down with Tianna Soto. Tianna is a keynote speaker and mental health educator known for making wellness feel human, hopeful, and actionable. With a Master's in psychology from Columbia, experience as a Women's Health journalist, and certifications in yoga, reiki, and somatic anxiety coaching, she bridges science and soul to help people manage stress and rebuild resilience. During our conversation we explore what it really means to live in alignment with your strengths, navigate burnout with compassion, and allow your life path to unfold in nonlinear and unexpected ways. We talk about the power of positive psychology, how to shift out of "fixing" yourself and into understanding yourself, and why embracing your multi-passionate nature might be the exact thing that unlocks more joy, confidence, and clarity. Tianna also opens up about her winding career path — from psychology to media to becoming a full-time speaker — and how following sparks of curiosity (even when they didn't make logical sense at the time) led her exactly where she's meant to be. What We Talk About How positive psychology differs from toxic positivity Why focusing on strengths builds confidence and resilience Navigating a nonlinear career path with trust instead of fear The mindset shift from FOMO → JOMO (joy of missing out) Stress cycles, burnout, and how the body signals overwhelm The vagus nerve connection and what to know about stress physiology How to evaluate your current "season" of life — lifestyle, energy, values What it really means to live well (hint: it's simpler than you think) Connect with Tianna: Visit Tianna website Follow Tianna on Instagram Connect with me: Connect with me on Instagram ShopMy - What I'm Loving Lately Email: Hailey@hailey-miller.com
