The gate of the God is the entrance to the spiritual realm that resides inside of the individual, but it may also be expressed as a physical location in the form of a shrine. One of the most interesting studies in religion can be undertaken by studying something that is not a religion, and that is the indigenous practice of Shinto in Japan.*The is the FREE archive, which includes advertisements. „Heimat Mensch“.

Trending with Timmerie - Catholic Principals applied to today's experiences.
Timmerie shares a sense of awe and joy at the incredible increase in Catholic conversions happening globally... especially in places like France, the U.S., and the U.K. We’re talking up to 70% increases in some dioceses! The Diocese of Fort Worth, Texas had a whopping 72% jump in conversions from 2023 to 2024. Most of these new Catholics are Gen Z and millennials. Yep... young adults in their 20s and 30s are filling the pews and receiving the sacraments like never before. Why the Shift? Culture, COVID, and the Call of Beauty Timmerie mentions interviews from The New York Post, where recent converts shared what drew them to the Church. Themes like: -A deep dissatisfaction with the "feel-good" culture of non-denominational churches -A hunger for reverence, beauty, and structure, especially found in the Mass and its ancient tradition -The disorienting chaos of the world during the pandemic, which made people pause and re-examine their faith. Take Sydney Johnson, a 30-year-old from California. The hustle culture had her burned out. During COVID, she slowed down, turned to prayer, and was captivated by the depth and order of the Catholic tradition. Same for Adrian Lawson, also 30, who struggled with mental health until the Rosary and Catholic community gave him a new lease on life. He said, "Since I started praying the Rosary and converted, I haven't had any of those issues." Lost in the World, Found in the Church A New York priest, Fr. Raymond La Grange, echoed a powerful point: young people are realizing the world can't give them what they're looking for. Everything is arbitrary, and that’s exhausting. They crave something solid, something with order, and they want something real. The Movement Goes Global And it’s not just the U.S. In France, over 10,000 adults converted this Easter alone, a 45% increase... with nearly half aged 18 to 25. Another 7,400 teenagers received the sacraments, up 33%. In the U.K., 41% of young adult churchgoers are now Catholic, compared to just half that being Anglican. Timmerie even heard from French priests and sisters, many from the Community of St. John, who said some conversions are even coming secretly from Islam, with people risking everything to follow Christ. The sisters emphasized that, even in secular and anti-religious environments, God is still calling hearts, and people are responding. Evangelization Is Working... And We’re All Part of It A French sister told Timmere that this surge is happening because people are evangelizing boldly: sharing the Gospel, standing for truth, inviting others into the Church. That’s our mission too. People are yearning for something more... something whole, transcendent, and healing. The Catholic Church offers exactly that.

They stress the importance of focusing on God and the Holy Ghost to avoid negative influences. Mr. Seráphino shares personal experiences and visions of God's love and presence, emphasizing the necessity of a personal relationship with God, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost. He also cautions against the enticements of the worship of the universe, Eastern religions, and other non-Christian beliefs. The narrative touches on the parallels between biblical warnings and pop culture, specifically through the metaphor of Emperor Palpatine and the Antichrist (Anakin) from 'Star Wars'. Ever since Pew Research put out its Religious Landscape Study, people have been making claims about Christianity making a comeback. Within this, three claims in particular have stood out on the internet: 1. Young people are getting more religious.2. Young men are becoming more religious.3. People are flocking to traditional churches. In this video, we put all those claims to the test as Pew Researcher, Dr. Chip Rotolo (Ph.D., University of Notre Dame) unpacks the details of this study, separating fact from fiction. Pastor Nelms preaches on the religious spirit that Jesus confronted in the Pharisees, and that is still alive and well in the modern church. On this week's AP Religion Roundup, A Supreme Court ruling allows religious objections to LGBTQ schoolbooks, and a new class of priests bucks a trend of decline. AP Correspondent Walter Ratliff reports.
A beach conversation earlier this week caught Cam's attention. And he asks if we've ever had so many known solutions to a common problem and ignored them? ----- At a family event earlier this week I asked eight members of my extended family who liked their work. Six people did not their work. Some hated their jobs. Some were just ready for something new. And some were actively looking for new jobs but only something they'd enjoy and were struggling to find anything that they thought they'd enjoy. One had weeks to go before retiring at age sixty. Rather than go to sixty-five, he decided to get out early. His young-ish retirement added risk to whether his savings would last but he was willing to accept that risk - he couldn't take his work anymore. The youngest participant in the conversation was thirty, so it wasn't workplace veterans vs workplace newbies. It was across the ages. I wondered: Is this typical? Does seventy five percent of the workforce dislike their work? And some so much that they will accept more risk in their retirement to bug out early? These questions led me back to some notes I took while listening to a podcast a while ago. Ezra Klein interviewed the author, whose name I didn't write down, and the author said some fascinating things: First – Our society continues to create conditions that are at odds with human flourishing. And, per this guy, we know this! Yet we continue to do it. So, I thought, are jobs that are being offered and created today at odds with flourishing? What would a job that facilitated human flourishing look like? Is it even possible? Do I know anyone that has one? Second – Few people know what they want. Only that they don't want “this”, whatever this is. The don't want the work they have, only that there must be something better. But what? Most people have no idea. Third – We have a good idea of what a good life should look like and be BUT we seldom pursue it. And, he said, we train our kids to not pursue it. Third – Our desires today DON'T lead to flourishing. They lead to loneliness. Ask yourself - what are your desires? And be honest – will getting them help you flourish or make you lonely? Or lonelier? Finally, the author said there are three things that lead to flourishing: Education, Religion and Art. Not spirituality. Religion. And there are less of all these things today. Less practice of them. Less study of them. Less pursuit of them. Less pushing our kids toward them. And yet, per the author, they are, and always have been, the keys to happiness. What does it mean that we know the solutions to our unhappiness problems and ignore them. What does it mean that those in influencer positions in our workplace could create elements of jobs that would make others be happier? But we instead follow – and participate in and help create and push our kids into - a culture that ignores the answers? Has a society ever had known solutions to known problems and simply ignored them? I'm wresting with this. It tough. How do we get off this wheel? I'm Cam Marston and I'm just trying to keep it real.

In this message, Pastor Caleb discusses Matthew chapter 7 as Jesus gives the Sermon on the Mount. Looking at what Jesus defines as religiosity and helping others, it is essential to catch the heart of God and be led by His Spirit. How can a person help others if they are not taking care of the beam in their own eye? While others refuse all help to make their life better. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth ripped into the mainstream media over the intel leak during a press conference at the Pentagon. He blamed them for spreading false news about Operation Midnight Hammer's success in taking out Iran's nuclear weapons facilities. The Sekulow team discusses the extent of the Iranian nuclear damage, President Donald Trump's foreign policy, U.S. Air Force General Dan “Razin” Caine's perspective on the bunker-buster airstrikes, the ACLJ's legal work – and much more.
We discuss the Supreme Court decision allowing states to defund Planned Parenthood and we decry many attempts by Christian nationalists to force religious conformity on a diverse nation. After celebrating the life of the irreverent comedian, actor, filmmaker, songwriter and playwright Mel Brooks (who turns 99 this month), we hear opening statements in two debates in the United Kingdom that FFRF co-presidents participated in. We hear the Opening Statement by Dan Barker in a debate at Oxford University on the topic: "This House Believes God Is a Delusion." Then we hear the Opening Statement by Annie Laurie Gaylor at Cambridge University on the topic: "This House Believes Religion and Feminism Are Incompatible."

Dennis is joined via Zoom by two of the men behind his favorite indie of the year so far Rent Free, co-writer and director Fernando Andrès and actor-producer Jacob Roberts. The film is about two queer, down-on-their-luck best friends Ben (Roberts) and Jordan (played by David Trevino) who hatch a plan to live rent free for a year in Austin, Texas--on friends' sofas or whatever they can fanagle--while they save up to move to New York City to pursue their dreams. Fernando talks about his goal of making a buddy comedy set in a bleak contemporary economic landscape focusing on a kind of queer friendship that's very familiar to him but underexplored in cinema. Jacob talks about the finding the comedy in cringey hookup scenes, and recalls shooting a key emotional scene with Austin-based actor Bill Wise as Jacob's eccentric and empathetic father. Other topics include: Jacob writing and appearing in several iconic Hasty Pudding musical shows while at Harvard, Fernando being mentored by Austin-based filmmaking legend Richard Linklater, the upside of taking a film from the idea phase all the way through production and distribution in a relatively short period of time, what it's like to live in Austin post-tech boom and why they made one of the most obnoxious characters in the movie a gay "Facebook Guy with a good salary."
Fr. Mike explains why all of us are called to listen to the prophets of the Old Testament, and why their role is so important in salvation history. Each of us is building some kind of life and picture of eternity: the question we must ask ourselves is are we building it with God or against him? Today's readings are 2 Kings 8, Hosea 8-10, and Psalm 108. For the complete reading plan, visit ascensionpress.com/bibleinayear.
