We are four wide on this busy Friday with a lot of news to discuss as the week closes before the U.S. Open. Brendan is joined by KVV, Joseph, and PJ. They begin with the Golf Digest report on allegations against Phil Mickelson of nonconsensual and inappropriate physical contact with a female employee at his home club that led to his removal from said club. They discuss the late stage spiral of Phil, and the seriousness of this now most recent allegation, the mess he’s made of his career, what could have been, and what will never be now. Then they get into a spate of LIV news from reports on the future of its remaining four events in the Financial Times, to a report on confusion about the contracts for players like Jon Rahm, to one more about the Australian Open perhaps becoming the “death knell” of LIV’s reimagined plans. Joseph brings some provocative comments about the TPC Toronto test for the Canadian Open and the PGA Tour putting bumpers up for the highest level of pro golf. KVV has a Flashback segment on a former rules kerfuffle at a U.S. Open that had players tweeting angrily all through the evening. Then they close with a wide-ranging PJ minute on the Knicks, an all time win, and an all time rant about Carmelo’s place in franchise lore. In this episode of Need Some Introduction, Darren and I break down the penultimate Widow's Bay episode on Apple TV+, “Emergency Shelter,” as a massive storm forces the island into an underground bunker and sets up the season finale's moral dilemma. We also discuss signs the show is intended to continue (including the listing as “Finale, season one”), Apple TV+'s strategy and subscriber reach, and tips for free trials. Before the recap, we review the YouTube-to-box-office horror film Backrooms (strong atmosphere and cinematography, weaker script and structure, divisive ending) and briefly check in on other recent watches, including Spider-Noir and Cape Fear (a strong pilot, a shakier episode two, and worries about too many mysteries). In the Widow's Bay plot, a flashback reveals Francis Fisher as the painting's subject, Rosemary's family-tree presentation identifies Ruth Livingston as the last Warren, and we speculate on whether the sacrifice choice will stay that simple—or tie to Tom's family. (Concluding our review of past episodes featuring the work of R. Crumb.) FLASHBACK! Tim and Kumar meet in person for the first time! This calls for a podcast, but… what to review? We discuss the movie Crumb, which features not only the expected discussion of R. Crumb's work (including an objective look at the question of whether some of the … discomforting subjects of his work should really have been published as “art”), but also a fascinating portrait of the dysfunctional family he grew up in. Then, Tim and Brandon clash over Sean Murphy's Punk Rock Jesus, in which a former Irish Republican Army member acts as a bodyguard in a reality show claiming to be creating the clone of Jesus Christ. Is it objective and well-written, or a promo brochure for atheism? (Originally published November 2, 2015)

Time machine is on! We are turning the clock back exactly 20 years. This mix is my personal tribute to 2006, the year Summer Fondue Sessions was born. I went digging in the crates to pull the pure soulful house tracks released during that exact year. These are the basslines, unforgettable vocal hooks and vibes that I absolutely adore, tracks I can listen to a thousand times and never get tired of. If this trip down memory lane hits the right spot, let me know in the comments. I'm thinking of making this a recurrent series, exploring the sounds of specific years, one by one. Turn up the volume and let's dance like it's 2006. 🕺✨ 📺 This is Episode 230 of the Summer Fondue Sessions radioshow, originally an audio‑only show, now in the video format → watch this mix on YT at https://www.youtube.com/@summerfondue 🌐 More information and show archive with tracklists → https://www.summerfondue.com 🙏🏼 Please support the artists making this great music: follow them, stream their work, and buy their releases to help keep the scene thriving!

The hour begins with Chris Russell and A-MAC reacting to a bizarre moment from Game 1 of the NBA Finals, where a fan ran onto the court, was ejected, and subsequently banned from all future NBA games. The conversation quickly turns into a lighthearted but heated debate over whether there is any superstar in sports worth risking that kind of punishment for, with both hosts and listeners weighing in. That discussion then sparks a nostalgic reflection from Chris, who connects the incident to memories of famed sports fan Morganna “the Kissing Bandit,” bringing humor and history into the segment. The hour closes with continued listener reaction, as callers share their takes on the court-storming moment, the superstar debate, and what it says about modern sports fandom.
It's a jam-packed week of golf across all levels of the game, and this Wednesday episode immediately kicks off with some takes about the oversaturation of competitive golf on television. Andy and Brendan debate whether the Powers That Be should work to spread out major events such as the NCAA Championships, U.S. Women's Open, and a PGA Tour Signature Event in order to not stack on top of each other in a short timespan. Andy points out that the PGA Tour is not truly driving engagement in amateurs playing recreationally and is disappointed that the NCAA dream matchup of Jackson Koivun vs. Preston Stout didn't get the attention it deserved. Brendan then shares some notes from a morning reading stories by legendary writer Tom Callahan, including one note about Ernie Els serving as an early mentor to Tiger Woods. The two preview this week's U.S. Women's Open at Riviera with a very in-depth Agronomy Minute highlighting a different course in June than we're used to seeing on the PGA Tour in February. The Schedule for the Week rolls on from there with a preview of the Memorial Tournament at Jack's Place. Jack Nicklaus himself had some interesting comments on the rollback and more during his pre-tournament presser, and Andy's 5 Guys to Monitor This Week somehow was a list of seven players. PJ chimes in and is excited for the team event on the Champions Tour in Madison, Wisconsin due to the "superteam" of Stew Cink and Zatch Johnson teeing it up. Lastly, Andy reacts to the news of John Deere potentially sponsoring a new "Chicago" tournament in 2028 after an Adam Schupak report from Tuesday afternoon. FLASHBACK! Perhaps one of the most puzzling comics releases in years was The Book of Genesis, Illustrated by R. Crumb. While it's a virtuoso art performance, the exact purpose of the book was puzzling to Crumb fans (“It's not a parody?!”) and religious readers (“This comic is not for kids?!”) alike. Both groups have been taken aback by how straight Crumb plays it — neither parodying nor bowdlerizing the work. That's not to say that nothing in it is Crumb's own interpretation. Tim and John discuss the issues raised — both by Crumb and by his audience. (Originally published August 18, 2014.) Brought to you by: Face the Music ELO podcast Our supporters on Patreon

Allen Lynch spent his childhood in Chicago's south suburbs with fond memories of walks to his grandmother's house in Roseland. Lynch was often bullied, and at age 18, to test his strength he enlisted in the U.S. Army. That was 1964, and one year later the United States had troops on the ground in Vietnam. In 1966, Sgt. Allen Lynch began a tour of service that would earn him the Medal of Honor. During this episode of the Crisis Cast, Lissa & Thom hear the experiences that led Sgt. Lynch to write the book "Zero to Hero" – he also shares wisdom on the future of military action, and what we should do in the present to better care for our veterans. Flashback PROPHECY HOUR with Pastor Dan: "Defeating the Totalitarian Lie: A Former Hitler Youth Warns America"Featuring: Hilmar von CampeDate: 05-28-2026Great program I encourage you to buy the book and if possible invite him to your church or other meetings. If you cannot get through to him by his web site contact me...The Real Objectives of Barack Obamaby Hilmar von CampeLust for power is in the heart of every human being, it is part of human nature. It is an issue for each one of us in our personal and professional life and it is a political issue on the level of government. The question is how to deal with the lust for power and serve justice at the same time if you want a stable government. The handling of human nature in organizing power is different from country to country.Because our Founding Fathers understood human nature and the temptation of power they created a Constitution which took both issues into account – a master piece of transferring Christian teachings into the political organization of American society. It is built on the respect for life and for the rights every person has been given by our creator and not by any government. Its political foundation consists of the separation of power between the three branches of government and depends on truthful and responsible citizen who make it function. The armed forces have to defend life and freedom of all Americans to outside enemies. Additionally there are the National Guards reporting to the governor of the respective state of the union and the militias. One reason for the creation of the militia was to enable the citizens to defend themselves against our own government if it should get oppressive. Therefore to bear arms is our constitutional right which cannot be taken away by any government.Enemies of freedom do not like the idea of armed citizens and try all sorts of means to control or eliminate guns in private hands. Hitler described on April 11, 1942 in a dinner keynote address his thinking regarding the matter: “The most foolish mistake we could possibly makewould be to allow the subject races to possess arms. History shows that all conquerors who have allowed their subject races to carry arms have prepared their own downfall by so doing. I would go so far as to say, that supply of arms to the under dog is a sine qua non to overthrow of any sovereignty. So let's not have any native militia or native police.” He was referring to occupied Soviet Union provinces whose people he called “races” but made clear that his principle is valid to wherever somebody wants to overthrow any sovereignty. There are many good organizations in America for everybody, like for instance the boys and girls scouts and the National Rifle Association. They teach young and adult people basic American values, like self-sufficiency, independence, personal ethics and individual responsibility. They are being taught to love God and America. We don't need a class war youth organization.“Remember we do not 100% agree with everything our guests, say, do, or believe. What if the biggest difference between someone who starts at 22 and someone who starts at 50 isn't intelligence or income, but simply the moment they finally decide, nobody's coming to save me? In this crossover episode, Bill joins Joel on "How to Money" to tell the brutally honest and surprisingly hopeful truth. He shares his story of becoming financially independent after a 20-year sleepwalk through lifestyle inflation, doctor money mistakes, and zero real financial plan. It's candid, practical, and exactly the kind of episode that makes you stop saying "I'm behind" and start asking "What's my next move?" This episode covers: Bill's late-starter journey from paycheck-to-paycheck doctor to financially independent at 60 How "rich doctor syndrome" and lifestyle inflation can keep high earners broke Why debt, overspending, and delayed gratification derailed his early money life The wake-up call that came from burnout, a malpractice lawsuit, and turning 50 How downsizing, geo-arbitrage, and a higher savings rate changed everything Why savings rate matters more than most people realize for late starters How to think about debt payoff versus investing when you feel behind Why college funding, generational wealth, and retirement planning are all connected How Bill thinks about using a financial advisor after a long DIY phase Why financial independence is really about buying back time, autonomy, and health . === SUPPORT THE SHOW ===
