In this episode of the Fully Charged Show Podcast, Robert explores the world of tyres with Gunnlaugur Erlendsson, CEO and Founder of ENSO. With billions of tyres in use globally, most made from fossil-fuel-derived synthetic rubber, the environmental impact is staggering. Tyre wear releases six million tonnes of microscopic particles annually—accounting for 28% of primary microplastics in our oceans—and contributes more to air pollution than vehicle tailpipes. ENSO is taking on this challenge with innovative, low cost, durable, high-efficiency tyres specifically designed for electric vehicles (EVs). These advanced tyres produce 35% less pollution and can also extend EV range, setting a new standard for sustainability in the automotive industry. On this episode of the Fully Charged Show Podcast, Robert welcomes Texan Sharon Wilson. Sharon began her career in the oil & gas industry but is now a leading figure in "methane hunting." As a certified optical gas imaging thermographer, she travels across the U.S., exposing the invisible methane pollution from oil and gas facilities. Sharon uses this technology to educate policymakers, media, and industry leaders through tours. Sharon's dedication to documenting methane emissions and advocating for environmental accountability arose from a personal experience. Unaware of the environmental impact, she purchased 42 acres in Wise County, Texas, bordering the LBJ National Grasslands. Unbeknownst to her, George Mitchell was experimenting with fracking techniques in the area. Witnessing firsthand the devastating effects of fracking, with air turning brown and water turning black, she documented her experience on her blog, texassharon.com. This experience led Sharon and her son to relocate to Denton, Texas, seeking a cleaner environment. However, this move ultimately fueled her passion for environmental advocacy. In 2010, she joined Earthworks' Oil & Gas Accountability Project, making it her life's work. Enjoy Sharon's incredible story! Joining Robert on the podcast this week is Gagan Dhillon, Co-Founder at Synop.ai, a Fleet EV Charging Management company that is making huge strides in the V2G and Virtual Power Plant sector. There are close to half a million school buses across America, doing what school buses do, sitting idle in yards for most of the day. Well, Gagan and the Synop team have spotted an opportunity to make them far more useful by electrifying them and utilising the huge batteries as virtual power plants when they aren't delivering students to school. With more than 6000 electric buses already in active service, the tech works and it's making a big impact. In this podcast Gagan takes Robert through how Synop approach the challenge and deliver optimised charging solutions that are cleaner and greener. Showcasing our second (digital) fireside chat from our recent Everything Electric LONDON expo, in this week's podcast episode Robert speaks with Ricky Roy, Fully Charged's ‘man in America'! Ricky recently got his hands on the new Cybertruck, (that episode is over on our Fully Charged SHOW channel), and when he's not driving the latest and greatest EVs, he's engineering his house into the home of the future! The pair also discuss the imminent tidal wave of Chinese cars about to hit US shores and what that means, as well as how our respective countries are managing with all the media FUD. And as a little bonus, we've also included Ricky's podcast with Elliot Richards from last year's Fully Charged LIVE event in Farnborough for those who missed that, or who would like to listen to it again. This week, Quentin Willson continues our fact-sharing mission with special guest Matt Cleevely of Cleevely EVs, one of the country's most established and experienced EV servicing and repair specialists. There has been much speculation about EV repairs, particularly when it comes to the battery. Many believe complexity, cost and safety concerns make EV batteries difficult to maintain and fix, but Matt argues that this is not at all the case, sharing many examples from his own busy workshop and national mobile repair business. Quentin and Matt also explore where the real EV repair challenges lie, and talk about the work Matt is doing to share his business model within the service and repair industry, helping other garages and dealerships become EV-ready. In Episode 198 Gary looks at the problem of misinformation in the EV and renewables world. We know there's always been issues of people spreading bad information about EVs (The first episode of this podcast was called ‘Myths and Legends', after all). But recently it seems that the FUD (Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt) surrounding EVs has stepped up a notch. We talk with Quentin Willson and Claire Cullen from Stop Burning Stuff about this issue.Within our EV bubble it's often easy to forget that what people gear on social media (and even mainstream media) can influence them a lot more than we imagine. With newspapers printing anti-EV marticles daily how can we combat this?Guest Details: With over two decades of experience in strategic marketing across the energy, digital, and not-for-profit sectors, Claire has a wealth of expertise in campaign development and communications. She has supported the Fully Charged Show marketing activities for a number of years so has a good grounding in the sector, and is a keen advocate for the transition to clean energy and transport. In her role as head of the #StopBurningStuff initiative, she works with subject matter experts and draws upon the real life experiences of EV drivers to address misinformation, promote the truth, and provide a credible source of information on EVs and clean energy to politicians, the media and the general public. @StopBSCampaign on Twitter Motoring journalist and transport campaigner Quentin Willson is one of Britain's best known automotive media faces. Helen Czerski is a British physicist, oceanographer, and presenter for the Fully Charged Show. She is known for her expertise in fluid dynamics, particularly her research on the physical properties of bubbles and their impact on various natural phenomena. Czerski has a strong passion for making complex scientific concepts accessible to the general public and her work has contributed to promoting scientific literacy and fostering curiosity about the natural world. In this episode, she drops in to talk about her new book ‘The Blue Machine' which has already been featured as Radio 4's book of the week.
In Episode 176 Gary chats with Jack Scarlett from the Fully Charged Show. They discuss Chinese EVs, electric conversions, induction charging, cheaper/ smaller EVs, and whether Tesla is resting on its laurels. I checked the Fully Charged show YouTube channel to see if I could determine how many car reviews Jack's done. He has his own playlist which has 86 videos but - as he said - these are not all car review ones. 21 of them cover topics which are EV related but not strictly car review and in and amongst there are a couple of episodes of almost breaking news where he chats with Robert Llewellyn. So the answer is 65, which isn't bad at all. This season of the podcast is sponsored by Zapmap, the free to download app that helps EV drivers search, plan, and pay for their charging. This week on Zooming with DRIVEN Dean tells us about his trip to the Fully Charged Show in Sydney to see the new MG4 EV before its release here later this year, but also the new long-range version of the popular MG ZS EV that will be here shortly as well. The Fully Charged Show is a roadshow of electric vehicles that is a spin off of the popular YouTube channel of the same name that was started by actor, writer and broadcaster Robert Llewellyn, better know by cultured and intelligent people as Kryten from the British comedy series Red Dwarf, who was present at the show. David makes us all feel just that bit older with the news that the mighty McLaren P1 is actually ten years old, and that the man who designed the iconic hypercar - Frank Stephenson - has just revealed his latest design - a baby seat! Dean then covers off the news out of the USA about a classic Datsun 240Z selling for some seriously big money, while David tells us about the sexy Hyundai Ioniq 6 arriving in New Zealand and the global reveal of the new Hyundai Kona, as well as the fact that you can now buy a brand new classic Defender from Land Rover, by way of Bowler. But it costs $150,000 and there is only one of them. Confused? Watch the video... Finally Dean fills us in on the last-ever race meeting at the Pukekohe race track, where he will be racing in the DRIVEN Mazda MX-5 in the Mazda race series. We also put out the call for you - yes, you! - to review your car for our upcoming new regular feature: Reader's Reviews. Review your car and let our other readers know the good, the bad and the ugly things about it.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Robert is joined this week by The Fully Charged Show's CEO Dan Caesar to discuss what they both agree was “the best presentation ever given by Tesla!”. Unveiled at a recent investor day at the Gigafactory in Austin, Texas, and subsequently shared globally, Tesla's Masterplan pt 3 outlined, amongst other key themes, their far reaching plans for a ‘fully sustainable Earth'. Both concluding that it was 4 hours well spent, Dan and Robert pick through some of the highlights of the presentation and what that means for the global energy transition.
Robert is joined this week by Rosie Barnes, engineer, consultant, speaker and creator-host of the popular EngineeringwithRosie YouTube channel. With many years experience as an engineer in the renewable energy sector, especially wind turbines, Rosie takes Robert through her journey, and the development and growth of wind turbines as a viable solution for creating long lasting and reliable clean energy. Rosie also recently presented an episode on The Fully Charged Show channel all about Australia's abundant renewables - this is a great follow up episode to this fascinating podcast. This mini-series explores the sustainability of the events industry. Today, the events industry is more popular than ever – generating over $1.1 trillion US dollars in global revenue annually and predicted to increase more that 10% over the next 5 years. Nonetheless, the environmental impact of large scale events is significant and difficult to reduce. The very nature of events, bringing together tens if not thousands of human beings into a physical space, requires the single use of vast resources to deliver captivating experiences and crucial profitability. So, how can we ensure we leave the smallest environmental footprint possible within an industry aimed at consistently delivering ever greater spectacles to audiences? In this 3-part series on sustainable events, we've chosen three of the most impressive global event organizations with sustainability at their core to understand their visions and challenges for operating a planet-friendly event. In part 1, we talk with Dan Cæsar, CEO of the Fully Charged Show, the World's No.1 Clean Energy & Electric Vehicle event. Together we explore the challenges of balancing event necessities with sustainability and how to educate partners on best practices. Fully charged is also a high-profile Podcast and YouTube channel. They discuss the rising popularity of electric vehicles and how Fully Charged Live has been a showcase for and supporter of this technology.
Ever since Robert filmed his first pilot for the Fully Charged SHOW, some 12 years ago, he's always wanted to record a podcast in front of a small, high quality audience. Well in this week's edition of the Fully Charged Podcast he does just that. Joined by Fully Charged CEO Dan Caesar and presenter Imogen Pierce, this pilot of the new Fully Charged FRIENDS video podcast showcases a new format that will begin rolling out from April 2023. Don't worry it doesn't necessarily mean you will lose out on the current podcast format! This week's special guest and long-term friend of Fully Charged is Juliet Davenport OBE, former CEO of Good Energy and current Chair of Atrato Onsight Energy, which focuses on commercial solar rooftops. Alongside being on the board of EV charging company Connected Kerb, Juliet has also recently published The Green Start-Up which brings her extensive industry knowledge and experience together to help guide founders and business through the journey of making their organisations greener and better for the planet.
Helen Czerski is a British physicist and oceanographer and is a presenter on the Fully Charged Show. She has presented documentaries on a wide range of incredible subjects for both FC and the BBC. She is passionate about conveying the beauty and ingenuity of the physical world around us, and the perspective on the world that science provides.
Ben Sullins is a Youtuber, EV Reviewer and host of the 'Free The Data' Podcast. Ben Has also presented on The Fully Charged Show and will be appearing at Fully Charged LIVE North America in San Diego on the 10th and 11th of September.

Ismerkedünk a Formula E-vel: te nézed a futamokat?
