“Respecting others may be your intention. But your actual words and actions demonstrate intentions to others.” In this episode, I discuss the difference between your intentions and your actual actions as a leader, particularly in the context of showing respect to others. "She may be smart, but she doesn't respect others." This was an actual comment written on a feedback assessment a senior leader received. The feedback was jolting, as the woman receiving the feedback did not intend to show anyone disrespect. But comment after comment indicated that her colleagues and employees felt otherwise. What if there's a disconnect between our intentions and how they're perceived by others through our actions? When it comes to respect, we may assume we are demonstrating it in our interactions with others, but others may think we aren't. In this episode of Power Presence Academy, I talk about four common behaviors you may be exhibiting that inadvertently signal disrespect. It's a chance to do a quick self-check on some things you may be doing that show disrespect to others. In this episode:Identifying unconscious disrespectful behaviors you may unintentionally exhibit in your leadership roleFour common actions you take that can signal a lack of respectThe importance of being respectful of others' time and schedulesShowing respect by being fully present instead of multitaskingAnd more!Power Presence Academy | Leadership with Less Ego And More Soul is the go-to podcast for anyone who leads. You do not have to tolerate the things that bring you discomfort. You are worth more than that, and you deserve more than that. So, today we're talking about boundaries.Look, I know this is not the first time you have seen or heard this word. But, in this Powerback® episode, we're going to talk about: What exactly are boundaries? How do you create them? And how do you uphold them? That's maybe the more magical question because setting them is one thing, but standing true to them, enforcing them, following through with them on your side. Yeah, that's a deeper discussion.Let's also not forget about personal boundaries, the ones that you create with yourself. I know that those little boogers don't get enough time and attention. So, we're going to cover that today. We'll go through:What you allow, will continueBoundaries are really about self-love and respectThe two parts of creating a boundaryClearly communicating your boundariesUpholding boundaries in life, in business, and with yourselfResources from this episodeI would absolutely love and appreciate it if you could take a few minutes and go to Apple podcasts and leave a review of The Gutsy Podcast and some words of wisdom to let others know what they can expect from the show. The Membership for the Gutsy Collective Inner Circle is officially open! After reading a book by a successful commercial developer who moved his family to France for two years, I wanted to learn more about setting up shop in a foreign country. That's because the real estate developer faced obstacle after obstacle because he wasn't used to the vast cultural divide between his home country and France.Accordingly, I felt I struck oil when I found the book, The Business Accidental Nomad by Kyle Hegarty. Kyle shares his experiences in building a marketing and sales presence in Asia based on data and humorous and engaging stories. I'll go so far as to say this book has a Liar's Poker feel to it; it's that good. Some of the big ideas we hit in this conversation include:the 70% failure rate in starting an international operationstereotyping vs. data-driven generalizationscalibrated storytelling - evidence and anecdotes"Treat people the way they want to be treated"TOR - trust, openness, and respectThe communications contractThe role of DISC for hiring new staff

If you're actually a real person and you're living your life and you're going into stores and you're riding on a bus or your kids are going to school, what matters is that you be treated with respect. For this episode of Into the Stream I'm joined by Biz Bliss, a professional psychedelic experience facilitator (perhaps imagine a really fantastic trip-sitter), whom I met four years ago whilst attending one of her psychedelic integration circles. She is the co-director of Alalaho, an organisation that offers high-dose psilocybin-assisted retreats in a safe, legal, and supportive environment. It's really very cool and I wish I had access to such an organisation earlier in my personal experimentation.I find Biz to be deeply sincere, down-to-earth, and quietly wise; if you listen deeply you'll find gold in her words here. Not only does she live what she talks about but she has also, along with her colleagues, managed to create a grounding, supportive, and professionally responsible organisation around psychedelic experiences, experiences that are stereotypically chaotic. That is no easy feat. In our conversation we talk about:Where the name 'Alalaho' came from and what it meansThe meaning of facilitating psychedelic experiences for BizThe value of peak experiencesThe importance of deep respectThe place of ritual, cycles, and deep listeningHow community can support individual integrationThe strange tendency of therapists' laughter-filled psychedelic experiencesThe commodification of psychedelicsTimmy's lesson from his bad tripHow psychedelics and ritual supported Biz with her father's deathSome ResourcesYou can find Alalaho here, their cyclical membership program here, and information on their retreats here.If you want to stay updated with future episodes (released every fortnight on Mondays), then click subscribe, follow the podcast on Instagram, or sign up to the newsletter. The podcast's music is Good Morning by Bonaparte and Acid Pauli, who kindly gave permission for use.
