"Sound Healing" with Greg Prasker. The healing journey of Greg Prasker started in 2012 after over 20 years of being on heavy doses of anti-depressants, benzodiazepines, amphetamines, and sleeping pills. One day he decided to take a handful of pills and get in a car. Luckily for Greg, himself and no one else was hurt after he rear-ended another vehicle. That was his wakeup call. Prasker decided to take a course on hypnosis and his life changed forever. Just from practicing in class, he gave up all his medications and replaced them with self-hypnosis and meditation while continuing to explore other natural healing modalities such as homeopathy, sound healing, energy work, and plant medicine.“It's as if we forgot what the ancient and indigenous tribes have known since the beginning…plants and herbs are medicine…energy is medicine…frequency is medicine,” says Prasker.Greg began working with healers from all around the world experiencing a plethora of modalities while learning how to heal through sound, energy, and plants. “We all have our issues and all of our issues come from something…it's my job to help you find that something and release it.”In 2017, Greg was introduced to Lee Regenbogen, his now business partner, friend, and brother. “We just instantly hit it off. I explained my vision about the magical hemp plant and CBD Oil and the amazing breakthroughs people have been having. It took zero convincing. We knew what we had to do and have been divinely guided from the start.”Today, Greg spends his time sharing Sound Healing, Energy Work, Hypnosis, Breathwork, and CBD Oil on a global level. “We are going through a medicine renaissance. Our eyes are being opened to more and more previously hidden remedies and treatments that work towards healing as opposed to just masking symptoms. An ECHO is Extension for Community Healthcare Outcomes, and this ECHO is focused on mental health and intellectual and developmental disabilities. Faith Kelly is the Coordinator for this ECHO project, and we also talked to several clinicians that have been involved in the project and working in clinical roles for many years. TranscriptLinks:Project ECHO AK What is an ECHO?Center for Human DevelopementBIOS:Marti Romero, Psy.D., LPC-SDr. Romero is a licensed psychologist and the Clinical Director at Assets, Incorporated – a non-profit organization in Anchorage, Alaska that provides treatment and supports to individuals who experience intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DDs) and/or severe and chronic mental illness. She has dedicated her 30 year career to serving this underserved population. Dr. Romero received her B.S. in Sociology from San Diego State University, and her Masters and Doctorate degrees from Alaska Pacific University. She became interested in working with this population while studying for her undergraduate degree as she worked in an institutional setting for individuals who experienced I/DDs and severe behavioral challenges. She started her career doing direct supports and in so doing has developed a passion, and staunch advocacy for the work she does and the people with whom she works. In 2014/15 Dr. Romero seized the opportunity while completing her doctoral dissertation, to research the training provided to masters level clinicians (or lack thereof), to provide behavioral health services to individuals with I/DDs. In addition to this research, and from her experiences working with and supervising many clinicians over the years, she knew the training was sparse – especially in Alaska. As part of her dissertation, she developed an in depth training curriculum for clinicians who would be willing, and interested in serving this population. She has since utilized this training to assist clinicians, through a variety of venues, gain the skills needed to effectively provide behavioral health services to individuals who experience I/DDs.Dr. Romero is a life-long Alaskan, who enjoys spending time with family and friends; fishing, camping, hiking, playing softball – generally most things in the great outdoors.Laronsia ‘Ronnie’ ReynoldsRonnie was born in Florida and relocated to Anchorage, Alaska, in 1982. She particularly enjoys being in the outdoors during the Summer and Fall seasons. She also enjoys playing sports and all types of word and board games. She believes there is nothing like doing work you are passionate about…….it makes it fun and not just a job. BreeAnn Davis was born and raised in Alaska. As eclectic as this list might seem, all of it comes together in solving problems of finding sustainable energy sources in the Arctic, with the challenges of unstable permafrost for infrastructure foundations, finding the energy to grow food and provide fresh water, and other linkages between energy and the environment. Michelle grew up in Alaska, and is happy to be raising her son here as well. They like to take the dog hiking, camping, ice skating and skiing, but also enjoy a lot of cozy indoor time as well. She is thrilled to be doing work that she hopes will continue to make Alaska a great place to live for her family and all Alaskans. This episode's motto: "Working hard in hard-to-work places!"

During the Arctic Frontiers conference in Tromso, Norway in January 2012, Arctic Institute contributor Tom Fries had the chance to interview Jason Meyer, who works at the Alaska Center for Energy and Power. His work involves identifying and testing new and effective energy technologies for the Arctic - often with the goal of providing power to Alaska's remote communities - and assisting them through the development process. His interest in this field began in Vanuatu, an island in the South Pacific where the local communities have some surprising commonalities with Alaska's remote towns. These days, his work brings him into contact both with the complexities of intellectual property law and with the promise of exciting new developmental technologies.

MANAGING ASTHMA AND ALLERGIES in children is a daily reality for many families in Alaska. Those who suffer from allergies – whether brought on by pollen or peanuts – know that a reaction is both miserable and also scary – especially for caregivers who are watching their little ones experience a reaction. And the same is true for parents of children with asthma – watching your child gasp for breath is a frightening thing to witness. But caregivers and parents of children with allergies and asthma can experience fear-free and excellent everyday management when they know the facts and are receiving treatment. IN-STUDIO GUESTS: Sarah Gonzales hosts today's program and is joined by Dr. Thad Woodard in the studio to talk about asthma and allergies - How are they diagnosed at the doctor’s office and how are they managed at home? Dr. Woodard both owns and practices at the Alaska Center for Pediatrics in Anchorage. He is a certified by the American Board of Pediatrics, as well as the Allergy and Asthma Foundation of America. He is also the host of the weekly radio program Line One: Your Health Connection on KSKA-FM
