Take a drink every time we say, "Naked Greased Up Tom Hardy!"Tonight on a special birthday edition of Triple Feature, Mark Radulich is joined by the other two wise men of The Radulich in Broadcasting Network—Robert Winfree and Jesse Starcher—for a stylish, provocative, and ultra-violent journey through the films of Nicolas Winding Refn (and one by Refn's spiritual cousin, Winding Hardy). In this episode, the trio revisit their creative bond forged in blood during their review of Too Old to Die Young, and now explore three equally intense visual feasts: Drive, Bronson, and The Neon Demon. What gives someone the right to script your prayers? In this powerful conversation, Douglas McKelvey, author of the bestselling Every Moment Holy liturgical series, joins Dru Johnson to unpack the spiritual and theological journey behind his work. From a childhood steeped in neo-charismatic theology to a disillusioning college experience at Oral Roberts University, McKelvey shares how God used a profound unraveling—what many today might call “deconstruction”—to rebuild a biblically coherent faith through unexpected mentors and communities. Listeners learn how McKelvey became part of the Art House Foundation and later the Rabbit Room, drawing from the legacies of Francis Schaeffer, Edith Schaeffer, and Andrew Peterson to create a community of artists grounded in Scripture. Along the way, he opens up about the fear and trembling that should attend writing liturgies—and what it means to write prayers people will carry into their most vulnerable moments. This episode explores beauty, hospitality, ritual, and the theological integrity behind the words we say to God. Whether you're a liturgy lover, creative, or just someone seeking coherent theology after chaos, this is an episode that will stay with you. Forget the sales gimmicks—“Arthouse” is here to support artists sidelined by the traditional gallery model. In today's episode, our host, Scott “Sourdough” Power, founder of nonprofit media platform Arterial, discusses the concept behind “Arthouse,” an innovative TV series currently in pre-production. This series, which is fiscally sponsored by Arterial, aims to connect artists directly with buyers, eliminating the need for middlemen or galleries.“Arthouse” is all about community engagement. Each episode will feature a family, a couple, or an individual interested in purchasing original art from a local artist but feels intimidated and unsure where to start, often working within a budget of just $500 to $1,000. The “Arthouse” team will meet with prospective buyers in their homes to better understand their needs, tastes, and living situation. Then, he takes them to visit the studios of three talented artists from their community. This immersive experience allows them to learn about the artists' practices and the stories behind their creations. Scott believes that by directly connecting these buyers with local artists, “Arthouse” can recalibrate public perceptions of art ownership and make it more accessible to everyone. He emphasizes the socioeconomic dynamics that often deter people from investing in original artwork, noting that a lack of knowledge and exposure plays a significant role in this issue. By fostering open dialogues about personal tastes and accessibility, he aspires to cultivate a culture where original art is not merely reserved for the elite but is embraced and appreciated by all.Tune into this episode to learn more about “Arthouse,” or subscribe to our newsletter to stay updated on the latest “Arthouse” news.Links mentioned in this episode: ArterialArthouseArtsvilleUSACrewest StudioFirst Friday ExhibitionsNOT REAL ARTNOT REAL ART PodcastRemote Season OneRemote Season Two Sneak PeekScott “Sourdough” PowerFor more information, please visit https://notrealart.com/introducing-arthouse

Sendungshinweis: FM4 Film Podcast, 05.05.2025, 0 Uhr

The Gospel Con Carne podcast is back! Join us this season as Mobile Loaves & Fishes' Founder & CEO, Alan Graham, and his guests tell the untold stories of individuals who have encountered homelessness. We are excited to kick off this season talking with Honey, one of Alan's neighbors who lives in Community First! Village. Honey grew up in a broken home and transitioned into foster care when she was 16. After getting married and having three children, new struggles began to emerge in her life. The combination of divorce, remarriage, losing her home and severe health problems ultimately left Honey in a position of living out of her car with her husband at the time. She eventually found her way home to Community First! Village in 2018, but admits she was still dealing with several bumps in the road. It wasn't until recently that Honey was encouraged by our Art House team to pursue her creative skills. Since then, she has been thriving with jewelry making and is also tapping into new creative outlets that allow her to earn a dignified income.

Send us a Question!MOVIE DISCUSSION: Kathryn joins Melvin to discuss The Monkey, one of the first horror hits of the year, and possibly the first of two new Osgood Perkins films in 2025! For a movie whose tagline is "Everybody dies. And that's F#$*ed up.", is it cynical? Or, is a little heart tossed in with this horror comedy? Also, and perhaps most importantly... is it funny? Tune in to find out!Topics:(PATREON EXCLUSIVE) 28-minutes discussing Longlegs, Osgood Perkins' 2024 satanic-panic horror-thriller cop drama, and ponder how it stands with his other films, if it exceeded the hype, and how Melvin compares it to The Blackcoat's Daughter, one of his favorite movies. (PATREON EXCLUSIVE)It's premise is simple, and it's idea is absurd, lending itself to an easily digest horror/comedy.Everything in the film is in service of jokes. The industry is timid around horror/comedy films, but a film with a reasonable budget offers a lot of opportunity. This is Osgood Perkins' first movie with a male-led cast, and the two explore his representation of gender across his filmography.Chuckling over silly deaths.Amidst all the comedy, Osgood Perkins' still makes sure to add a level of heart the film needs to give it decent pacing, both in its metatext as he processes grief and literally as the film showcases a throughline regarding generational trauma.Talking about the ending, and how you can read into the drama if you want.Recommendations:The Ultimate Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams (2010) (Book)@Niall.Breen.Comics (Instagram) Support the showSupport on Patreon for Unique Perks! “As children, we all live in a world of imagination, of fantasy, and for some of us that world of make-believe continues into adulthood.” Despite spending years fighting against the notion that puppets were nothing more than “children's entertainment,” Jim Henson found his greatest success thus far working on a television show aimed at toddlers: the groundbreaking educational series SESAME STREET. But before he got there, Jim went on a years long detour into the world of experimental filmmaking, work that would ultimatley influence many of the inserts that he'd film for SESAME STREET. In this episode, we'll discuss Henson's work on short films such as TIME PIECE and experimental television programs like YOUTH ‘68 and THE CUBE — not to mention his brief flirtation with opening a psychedlic nightclub and his time spent onstage in Las Vegas — before taking a deep dive into his involvement with SESAME STREET, a program that would change television, and the Muppets, forever.
