They have to beat either Dallas or Washington to start the season. Boomer thinks both their defense and offensive lines will be better and Russ doesn't turn the ball over very often.

Hour 1 Boomer begins his 19th year as morning show host at WFAN, discussing the NFL season's start. Topics include Micah Parsons, Arch Manning, Bill Belichick's debut with North Carolina, and Juan Soto's big day for the Mets. Jerry provides updates on the Mets' win and Sean Manaea's outing. The show also covers the Micah Parsons vs. Jerry Jones situation and Patrick Mahomes traveling to Brazil. Boomer's golf plans with Zach Wilson's father-in-law are off, leading to calls for fill-in ideas, including a caller noting Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers' Super Bowls at 27, and Jordan Love's current age. Hour 2 The Giants' schedule started with Gio stating they need to go 2-2, scoring points and Russell Wilson throwing TDs, beating either Dallas or Washington. Boomer believes both Giants' lines will improve and Russ limits turnovers. Boomer suggested the Jets keep Aaron Rodgers, but Gio argued against it for culture change. Sam Darnold is now with the Seahawks. Boomer then listed quarterbacks for comparison. Jerry provided an update, after Gio mentioned C-Lo's tuberculosis last week and Al's confusion over MLB Wild Card standings. Juan Soto hit a grand slam and triple for the Mets. Carlos Mendoza discussed Sean Manaea's issues. We heard Bill Belichick and North Carolina losing to TCU. Brian Daboll discussed Jayden Daniels, their week one opponent. Micah Parsons spoke about the Green Bay fanbase. The hour concluded with NFL news and a caller asking Gio who he'd rather have in a big game: Boomer or Phil Simms? Hour 3 The hour began with baseball talk, covering the Mets' recent struggles against the Marlins and their win in Detroit, highlighting young pitchers Jonah Tong and Nolan McLean. The Mets have dominated the Phillies this season, especially at home, but need three consistent starting pitchers. Boomer praised McLean's natural pitching ability. Jerry then updated on Jalen Hurts discussing the Cowboys defense, Jon Gruden's admiration for it, and Andy Reid on the Chiefs' Brazil trip. The Mets' Detroit win featured a Juan Soto grand slam and triple. Sounds of Bill Belichick and UNC's loss to TCU were played. Finally, Gio mentioned judging a burlesque show, and Boomer warned of tropical depressions. Hour 4 Gio discusses 'Unknown Number: High School Catfish' (spoiler alert!) and his daughters' KPop obsession. Note: You don't hear any music - sorry. Jerry's final update covers Soto's Mets win, Judge on proving himself in September, Belichick/UNC's blowout loss, and Parsons' back injury. The Moment of The Day highlights the Bills' weak schedule. A caller invites them to her dad's 60th.

The rollback of the Inflation Reduction Act through the One Big Beautiful Bill Act has reshaped America's climate and energy landscape by cutting tax incentives for wind and solar power and electric vehicles while maintaining some federal support for sources like nuclear reactors and geothermal plants.  While there is some uncertainty about how those policy changes will play out, there are even broader questions about what this all means for the Republican Party's energy policy agenda and approach to climate change.  So where is the party headed and what could bipartisan cooperation on energy policy look like in today's Washington? Can Republicans and Democrats still find common ground on issues like climate adaptation, energy security, and permitting reform? And what is shaping the Republican Party's approach to energy policy?  This week, Jason talks to Carlos Curbelo about the current state of Republican thinking on energy and climate policy. Carlos is a former member of the U.S. House of Representatives. He served Florida's 26th congressional district from 2015 to 2019. During his time in Congress, Carlos was a leading Republican voice on climate policy, co-founding and co-chairing the bipartisan Climate Solutions Caucus. After leaving Congress, Carlos served as a distinguished visiting fellow at the Center for Global Energy Policy. He also co-founded Vocero, a communications and strategic consulting firm based in South Florida. Credits: Hosted by Jason Bordoff and Bill Loveless. A fierce political battle is underway as President Trump threatens to deploy federal agents and troops to Chicago to combat violent crime. Mayor Brandon Johnson and Governor J.B. Pritzker are vowing to resist, with Johnson signing an executive order to limit cooperation with federal law enforcement. The host argues that the president is brilliantly exposing the political motivations of Democrats who prioritize votes over public safety, drawing a parallel to a successful crackdown in Washington, D.C. The discussion delves into a shocking report from the Treasury Department about Chinese money laundering networks aiding drug cartels, suggesting a larger, global criminal enterprise with ties to political agendas.

Today's broadcast covers a broad spectrum of topics, from pop culture and sports to national politics and global conflicts. The host begins by dissecting the UNC-TCU football game, weaving in humorous anecdotes about Bill Belichick's girlfriend and the trending "Jesus Wins" slogan. The conversation transitions to the new "no tax on tips" policy, celebrated as a win for American workers, and contrasts it with the Biden administration's policies. The core of the show focuses on a series of escalating political and social conflicts. The host details a standoff between President Trump and Democratic leaders in Chicago over crime, which he frames as a brilliant strategy to expose Democrats who he claims defend criminals. He presents a list of federal arrests in Washington, D.C., to show the effectiveness of Trump's crackdown. The discussion then widens to an alleged "nexus" between the Democratic Party, Chinese money laundering networks, and international cartels, which the host claims are all working together to undermine the U.S. and secure political power. On a personal and cultural level, the host shares his concerns about the future of Gen Z, citing studies on a growing "happiness gap" and a stark partisan divide between young men and women. He also delves into a controversial analysis of the Minneapolis mass shooter's manifesto, arguing that the media is ignoring key details about the role of cross-sex hormones and gender identity. Finally, the host expresses serious concern for Donald Trump's health, urging his staff to ensure he takes time off from his grueling schedule, while also making a bold prediction about a potential U.S. military action against Venezuela.

The host breaks down the escalating conflict between President Trump and prominent Democratic leaders like Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson, who is actively resisting federal law enforcement intervention. The host details a recent federal crackdown in Washington, D.C., resulting in 1,600 arrests of violent criminals and gang members, many of whom were illegal immigrants. He argues that this strategy is designed to expose and dismantle the criminal networks thriving in sanctuary cities. The host also claims that Democrats are fighting to protect these individuals because they are seen as crucial for maintaining political power, citing a major demographic shift of people leaving blue states and a close, disturbing connection between the Democratic party, activists, and criminals.

The Trump administration is working with Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-S.D.) and Speaker of the House Mike Johnson (R-La.) to pass a “Comprehensive Crime Bill,” which is expected to address issues like cashless bail and increased police funding. Congress will also have to pass government funding for fiscal year 2026 before the end of September, or else face a government shutdown. The Trump administration is heading to the Supreme Court to defend the sweeping tariffs struck down by a lower court. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent says the tariffs are critical to fixing trade deficits and fighting fentanyl, and he's preparing a legal brief to underscore the urgency. White House trade adviser Peter Navarro is calling it the most important economic case in U.S. history. Meanwhile, the administration is also weighing a national housing emergency measure that could ease tariffs on building materials.Trump urged drug companies on Monday to make public the data on COVID vaccines that they've shared with him to clear up uncertainties over the drugs' effectiveness. The president is demanding an answer as, he says, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is "being ripped apart" over the question. Just last week, the CDC director was fired over disagreements on vaccine policy with Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Several officials have also stepped down in protest.

Sometime early on Sunday, August 31, 2025, thieves got away with three bronze bells, and Mr. Cox and others are trying to track down the bells before they're melted down for scrap. The parish at Saint Spiridon Orthodox Cathedral dates to the 1890s, and the current building was constructed in the 1930s. The bells are much more recent, but would be very difficult to replace - given they were made in Russia as part of an acoustically matched set of seven bells (four of which remain at the cathedal), and because the Russian invasion of Ukraine makes importing anything practically impossible. If you have any information about the bells stolen from Saint Spiridon Orthodox Cathedral, please call the Seattle Police Department. Thank you to Jean Sherrard for his assistance with this episode.
