Episode 205 – Dragons Rule the World Special Conditions is back! After a longer-than-planned break, Adam and Justin catch up on what's been happening in Pokémon, collecting, card shows, and life before diving into a huge weekend for the Pokémon TCG. Adam jumps back into competitive play at a local Worlds Celebration event and immediately walks away with the win using Garchomp. We break down the deck, why Unfair Stamp was so effective, some of the matchups he faced, and how a last-minute Switch inclusion literally saved the tournament. Then it's time for the 2026 Pokémon World Championships. We talk about Dragapult's continued grip on the format, some of the more interesting decks and plays we caught during the weekend, the difference between watching Dragapult and the slower formats of the past, and some of what PokémonXP brought to the Worlds experience. Plus, Justin catches everyone up on his recent Star Wars costuming adventures, Adam opens a pile of Prize Packs, and Adam's Vending Corner returns with lessons from another month of card shows—including why being the vendor who can find someone's random 13-cent reverse holo might be more rewarding than selling the expensive card. Question for the listeners: If you had played in the 2026 Pokémon World Championships, what deck would you have brought?

Inside the D&D side hustle that's really a masterclass in building AI systems that pay you back. Make money online by selling AI-generated D&D campaigns: Learn how tabletop creators use a two-pass AI content creation workflow to build balanced, ready-to-run 5e campaigns and monetize them on Patreon—a proven digital product side gig that takes hours, not months. This episode breaks down the prompt structure, explains why DMs buy convenience content, and shows the specific market opportunity overlooked by most AI entrepreneurs. https://DarkHorseEntrepreneur.com This episode explains how tabletop RPG creators are using a two-pass AI workflow to generate balanced, ready-to-run D&D 5e campaigns quickly and monetize them through Patreon, arguing this is an overlooked micro-business. It outlines why DMs buy convenience content, cites a growing market for pre-built campaigns, and shows a detailed prompt structure that uses official encounter-balancing formulas plus a second refinement pass in another model to improve balance, pacing, and coherence. It emphasizes that success depends less on content creation and more on repeatable systems, subscriber acquisition and retention, and audience-building via TikTok/YouTube Shorts, including using subscriber requests to drive loyalty. It also describes higher-paying customers (streaming DMs), backend monetization through licensing to publishers and marketplaces, risks from shifting AI behavior requiring documented prompts and quality gates, and a potential future SaaS tool that could disrupt Patreon sellers. 00:00 AI DnD Side Hustle 01:18 DM Pain And Demand 02:18 Encounters Are Algorithms 03:06 Base Prompt Blueprint 04:08 Specificity And Constraints 04:48 Two Pass Quality System 06:08 Patreon Content Calendar 07:25 Retention And Requests 08:36 Premium Streaming Clients 09:51 Marketing Reality Check 11:03 Patreon As Funnel 12:17 Scaling And Version Control 13:13 SaaS Disruption Angle 14:06 Build Moats With Systems 15:00 System Over Content 15:50 Whiskered Wisdom 16:42 Action Step 17:23 Wrap Up AI side hustle, Make money with AI, Patreon subscriptions, licensing, SaaS, ChatGPT business ideas, prompt framework, generating D&D campaigns, AI content creation, campaigns, NPC stat blocks, encounter modules, D&D campaign generator, tabletop RPG, make money online, TTRPG, Dungeons & Dragons, D&D, Roll20, D&D Beyond, Wizards of the Coast, Patreon, ai automation business, online side hustles, business motivation, work from home, business mindset, entrepreneur motivation, entrepreneurship, ai content creation, side hustle ideas, entrepreneur mindset, business tips, how to make money online, make money from home, ai automation agency, AI, AI Tools, ai entrepreneur, make money online, side hustle ideas, make money from home, online side hustles, AI start up ideas, entrepreneur, ai business https://DarkHorseEntrepreneur.com Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. In this joyful episode of Reading With Your Kids, Jed welcomes librarian and debut middle grade author Haley Neil to celebrate her spooky-silly new book, Greta Grimsdark and the Normal New Neighbor. Haley shares stories from her work in the library, where she spends her days covered in slime, leading "Make and Play" programs, and helping kids discover books they truly love—especially those transitioning from graphic novels to more text-heavy stories. Haley and Jed shine a big spotlight on librarians as unsung heroes, describing libraries as hubs for early literacy, STEM, crafts, and community support, especially for families who rely on them for internet access and free programming. Haley encourages families to "library hop," talk to their librarians, and never hesitate to ask for book recommendations. They dive into Greta Grimsdark's world, where Greta's parents are dragons, her brothers are ghosts, vampires, and zombies—and Greta herself is the "scariest" thing of all: a human child. Haley describes the book as "Addams Family meets Junie B. Jones" with "cute Wednesday Addams vibes"—a lower middle grade, highly illustrated story perfect for bedtime read-alouds, classroom reading, and precocious independent readers. Beneath the funny, eerie surface, Greta's story explores friendship, identity, difference, and belonging, including casual representation like a brother who uses sign language. Haley also talks about bibliotherapy—using books to help kids process big feelings and tough topics—and the joy of writing for kids, caregivers, teachers, and librarians all at once. Throughout, Jed and Haley return to their shared mission: helping families read together, talk together, and grow together through stories. Jed also welcomes back Ginny Neil, former longtime teacher turned nature-loving picture book author, to celebrate her new title A River of Wind. Ginny shares how a magical encounter with tiny "spiderlings" floating on silvery threads sparked the idea for the book, which explores all the surprising things that travel on the wind—from familiar sights to hidden wonders high above our heads. Drawing on more than 38 years in the classroom and her life in the mountains, Ginny reflects on how nature, curiosity, and hands-on exploration shape both her writing and her teaching. She and Jed talk about the lasting impact of COVID on kids' social and fine motor skills, the loss of unstructured play, and the pressure to "schoolify" young children too early. Ginny argues passionately for giving kids time outdoors, space to ask questions, and freedom from constant screens and supervision so their natural curiosity—and STEM thinking—can flourish. They also discuss bullying prevention, the importance of building a culture of respect instead of just running short-term programs, and how parents can nurture curiosity simply by modeling it themselves and involving children in everyday problem-solving. Throughout, Ginny's deep love for kids, learning, and the natural world shines through, along with her joy in visiting classrooms and creating books that invite children to look closer, wonder more, and fall in love with the world around them.

New studio, same chaos. Dylan and Sam Tripoli return after a few weeks off to break down one of the show's biggest theories yet: that dragons weren't myth, but a real species written out of the historical record. They trace dragon accounts from Alexander the Great's reported sighting in a cave after invading India, to Marco Polo's travel logs, to Saint George's documented dragon slayings across three continents — and lay out the theory that the Catholic Church suppressed the truth to protect its own claim to power. Along the way: the case that dinosaur bones were first identified as Nephilim giants, the Chinese zodiac's one "fake" animal, and a Leviathan-Godzilla connection tying it all to ancient sea monster cults. Also this episode: Dark Smith's ongoing Gulf War Syndrome saga, Nancy Mace's tattoo collection, and a breakdown of Mark Zuckerberg's "personal superintelligence" pitch and what it means for surveillance, censorship, and comedy on Instagram. Jonathan Brazeau joins Reid Hoffman and Parth Patil to explain how AI animation and filmmaking are making the one-person studio possible—letting small teams create films that once required 100 people. From Dungeons & Dragons world-building and an RPG art book illustrated with Stable Diffusion, to a fantasy-western short film made with Midjourney, Luma AI, and Suno, Jonathan breaks down his workflow: character design, storyboarding, mocap, rotoscoping, music, and human curation. The conversation explores the “cogs and sparks” framework, what a lean AI-native studio can realistically accomplish, how taste separates art from AI slop, and why technology still can't provide the essential creative spark. On the auspicious occasion of Nāga Pañcamī, the sacred day for worshipping dragons, I was inspired to give a slightly more dynamic and comparative talk this time compared to our talk last year (Snakes, Dragons & Nāgas in Tantra) which focused more on the āvatāras of the nāgas (Patañjalī, Abhinavagupta etc.). In this second talk on the subject, we explored the concept of the Dragon (a more literal reading of Nāga) as a personification of wildness and primordial chaos, tracking the idea in the Campbellian Hero's Journey (to make an exciting claim about merging the princess, a symbol for the lost anima with the dragon, which also symbolizes both the shadow and the anima, to use Jungian terms) with comparisons to Tiamat from Mesopotamian myth, Apep or Apopohis/Typhon in the Ancient Egyptian tradition and of course tracing it into its corollaries in the Vedic/Hindu world with reference to Indra's battle with Vrtta, the earliest "dragon" to appear in the tradition. I make an exciting claim comparing Patañjali, the Serpent (whose name literally means "fallen offering", or rather, "fallen angel) to Lucifer in the Garden of Eden and an even more exciting claim about why we should not try to slay the dragon, but rather learn from Her and even become Her. Here are some of the mantras we referenced in the class:अनंतं वासुकीं शेषं पद्मनाभं च कंबलम् शंखपालं धृतराष्ट्रं च तक्षकं कालियं तथा एतानि नव नामानि नागानाम् च महात्मन: सायंकाले पठेन्नित्यं प्रात:काले विशेषत: तस्य विषभयं नास्ति सर्वत्र विजयी भवेत् anaṃtaṃ vāsukīṃ śeṣaṃ padmanābhaṃ ca kaṃbalam śaṃkhapālaṃ dhṛtarāṣṭraṃ ca takṣakaṃ kāliyaṃ tathā etāni nava nāmāni nāgānām ca mahātmanah: sāyaṃkāle paṭhennityaṃ prātakāle viśeṣatah: tasya viṣabhayaṃ nāsti sarvatra vijayī bhavet “Ananta, Vāsukī, Śesha, Padmanābha and Kambala Śankhapāla, Drstarāshtra and Takshaka and Kāliya: These are the 9 great Serepents: I bow to them all! If (this mantra) is recited always, especially in the morning and in the evening, all poisons and fear will be destroyed and one becomes victorious everywhere!” If you can, feed some snakes today with hard boiled eggs and milk! That is to say: leave out a bowl of milk and a hard boiled egg under a tree somewhere! And here is a mantra for invoking and worshipping Patañjali: योगेन चित्तस्य पदेन वाचां । मलं शरीरस्य च वैद्यकेन ॥ योऽपाकरोत्तमं प्रवरं मुनीनां । पतञ्जलिं प्राञ्जलिरानतोऽस्मि ॥ आबहु पुरुषाकारं। शङ्खचक्रासि धारिणं॥ सहस्र शीरसं श्वेतं। प्रनमामि पतञ्जलिम्॥ yogena cittasya padena vācāṁ । malaṁ śarīrasya ca vaidyakena ॥ yo'pākarottamaṁ pravaraṁ munīnāṁ । patañjaliṁ prāñjalirānato'smi ॥ ābahu puruṣākāraṁ śaṅkha cakrāsi dhāriṇaṁ sahasra śīrasaṁ śvetaṁpranamāmi patañjalim Yoga, for the mind Grammar, for the speech, Medicine for the impurities of the body, I bow to that great sage Patañjali who has given all these! In the barracks they find letters that were never sent, written by soldiers who were afraid but certain their god would protect them. They also find a prayer to that same god carved into the bed frames again and again, and crossed out every single time.In a ten-by-ten stone offering room, the party uncovers the Hymn of Vigil and Binding: a full liturgy about a king crowned in dawn, a name broken beyond repair, and a watch that was never meant to end. Then there's a final verse, in different handwriting, that the people who wrote it clearly never expected anyone to read. What the party pieces together from it reframes everything on the other side of the portal — and it has consequences back home that nobody there has noticed yet. There are stairs going down. Obviously they take them. Two floors down is the quietest room they've walked into yet. It's already praying.New to us? House of the Dragon Season 3 has come to an end! After an uneven second season, did Season 3 bring the Dance of the Dragons back to its former glory? In this episode of SuperHero Homies, we give our full spoiler-filled House of the Dragon Season 3 review, breaking down the second half of the season, the epic finale, Battle of Tumbleton, Rhaenyra's transformation, Sheepstealer, Rhaena, Ormund Hightower, and our biggest theories for House of the Dragon Season 4. But first, we've got a 20-minute cold open! COLD OPEN: FIRST 20 MINUTES We begin with a debate about comic book movie adaptations and how closely movies should follow their source material. Why can Spider-Man: Brand New Day drastically differ from its comic book namesake without receiving much criticism, while Supergirl was heavily criticized for changing elements of Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow? Is faithfulness to the source material actually important, or does it depend on expectations? Nobody necessarily expected Spider-Man: Brand New Day to directly adapt the comics, while Supergirl was marketed as an adaptation of Woman of Tomorrow. We discuss whether expectations, rather than comic book accuracy itself, are what ultimately shape fan reactions. ICE CREAM MAN MOVIE We then discuss Eli Roth's Ice Cream Man horror movie... and we're already worried without even seeing it. We're big fans of the Ice Cream Man comics and praise their creativity, disturbing horror, mystery, thought-provoking storytelling, and incredibly unique premise. Unfortunately, we think the movie appears to be stripping away much of what makes the comic special in favor of something far more generic. We discuss why the adaptation feels disconnected from its source material and why we're skeptical of Eli Roth's approach. HOUSE OF THE DRAGON SEASON 3 After the cold open, we return to Westeros for our full discussion of House of the Dragon Season 3 Episodes 5-8. We previously reviewed Episodes 1-4, and now it's time to determine whether Season 3 stuck the landing. FULL HOUSE OF THE DRAGON SPOILERS! We discuss: • The Battle of Tumbleton and the finale's incredible action • Rhaenyra's increasingly dark transformation • Rhaena and Sheepstealer • Ormund Hightower emerging as a wonderfully conniving villain • The Dance of the Dragons • The season's biggest twists and surprises • Character motivations and development • The uneven pacing • Underdeveloped supporting characters • Our favorite and least favorite moments • Where the story goes in Season 4 • Who survives the coming war The action throughout Season 3 is spectacular, and the Battle of Tumbleton gives us some of the epic dragon warfare we've been waiting to see. We also loved watching Rhaenyra's heel turn continue as the war changes her, while characters such as Ormund Hightower brought some much-needed personality and scheming to the conflict. But we have one MAJOR problem with the series: Who are we supposed to root for? We love morally complex characters. Game of Thrones built its reputation on complicated, flawed people. But morally gray doesn't have to mean emotionally distant. At this point, we're struggling to find a main character we genuinely want to rally behind. The spectacle is incredible, but without characters we're emotionally invested in, some of the biggest moments don't hit as hard as they should. Despite those criticisms, we still enjoyed House of the Dragon Season 3 and believe it's an improvement over Season 2. Now we're looking ahead and hoping the series can bring the Dance of the Dragons to a satisfying conclusion. JOIN THE DISCUSSION Did you enjoy House of the Dragon Season 3? Was the Battle of Tumbleton worth the wait? What do you think of Rhaenyra's transformation? And most importantly: Who are YOU rooting for? Let us know in the comments! This week, the Geriatric Mamas are covering the full spectrum of womanhood: questionable men, maternal mental health, and apparently a complete inability to safely operate a grill. Jess revisits the trauma of dating a grown man committed to World of Warcraft, and considers whether Mother of Dragons might actually be the strongest possible dating-app aesthetic. Then things get much more serious as Sonia and Jess discuss the ongoing Lindsay Clancy case, postpartum psychosis, and the terrifying gaps that can exist between a mother saying “I need help” and actually receiving the level of intervention she needs. They talk about postpartum mental health, sleep deprivation, medication, maternity leave, the testimony coming out of the trial, and the questions the case is raising for them as mothers. And because nobody should leave Geriatric Mamas emotionally devastated, Sonia attempts to bring everyone back to civilization with a wholesome story about Hampton Beach, only for it to reveal what a seagull once stole off her family's grill. In this episode, investigator Eddy Aragon joins from New Mexico to expose the terrifying realities of the modern, AI-powered surveillance state. From Flock license-plate readers to Axon's invasive integration into 911 dispatch systems, Aragon argues that our daily lives are being tracked in an electronic "laboratory of surveillance" that is causing sane citizens to hesitate before calling for help. Walter dives into a rapid-fire session of some of the world's most entertaining mysteries: why Gen Z is swapping alcohol for marijuana, whether cats actually remember their siblings, and why museum dinosaurs are a giant plaster-of-Paris cover-up for real-life, fire-breathing dragons..

George Noory and author Paul Wallis explore his research into ancient texts for evidence of humanity's first contact with extraterrestrials, how the Bible is not simply about theology but contains stories of aliens appearing on Earth, and how ancient legends of lizard people and feathered serpents are actually proof of alien contact.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
