Welcome to the geopolitical cesspool. Today, we are taking a hard look at the crumbling, jury-rigged mafia state operating just across the border, and the exiled "Good Russians" who think they are magically going to inherit it.First, we dive into the blood-soaked mud of the zero-line with the leaked audio of Major General Roman Dimurchiev. From troops hunting for a prosecutor's missing underpants amidst artillery fire to commanders earning state medals for sapper-shovel executions, we examine the true operating system of the Russian military. Frankly, comparing these guys to the armies of Mordor is a massive, unforgivable insult to the logistical competence of the Uruk-hai.Then, we cross the border into Europe to check on the High Elves of Rivendell—the exiled Russian liberal opposition. While actual people are dying in the mud, the architects of the "Beautiful Russia of the Future" are busy playing Dungeons & Dragons in rented seminar rooms, running multi-million-dollar offshore laundromats, and hiring Baltic street thugs to kneecap their political rivals with meat hammers. From the Z-patriots desperately rebranding themselves as the Mongol Horde, to the sheer, Bond-villain absurdity of the FSB utilizing South American dart frog neurotoxins, this episode is a deep dive into an empire built entirely out of stolen myths, hallucinations, and pure rot.Support the War Effort: The Ukrainian military doesn't need PowerPoint presentations; they need armor. Please support Car4Ukraine as they weld heavy armor onto civilian pickup trucks and send them straight to the front line:

Vragen of opmerkingen? Mail ons! Op allinthegame@bnr.nl Over All in the GameAll in the Game is de podcast over games voor iedereen. Het komt allemaal aan bod in All in the Game. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The Ghosts of Harrenhal: A Song of Ice and Fire Podcast (ASOIAF)
Send a textBarristan Selmy takes stock after the departure of Daenerys on Drogon. As Hizdahr cements his power, the old knight is forced into plots that he hoped he'd left behind. Simon and Mackelly egg him on.Chapter Review:With Queen Daenerys Targaryen still missing, Ser Barristan Selmy is informed by the seneschal Reznak mo Reznak that King Hizdahr zo Loraq no longer needs him by the new king's side. Selmy is fine with that. He's short of friends right now, with Daario and company still hostages of the Yunkai'i, but Missandei tells him that a masked Brazen Beast approached her to say that the Shavepate (Skahaz mo Kandaq) wants to meet with Selmy. He doesn't trust these masked men, but he agrees to the meeting.Barristan is convinced that Dany lives. She was riding Drogon like the Targaryens of old. But also like the dragons of old, the body count can get out of control. More than 200 burned to death at the fighting pit. He reminisces about his early life and bemoans that he is now engaging in the plots and schemes he hoped he'd left behind in King's Landing. He meets with Skahaz who wants rebellion. The Volantenes are coming to re-enslave everyone. The peace treaty is a sham. Worst of all, it was Hizdar's confectioner who poisoned the locusts that had incapacitated Belwas, but the target was the queen. Selmy wants proof and if he gets it, he'll help Skahaz with his plans. Characters/Places/Names/Events:Daenerys Targaryen - Last remaining descendent of the royal Targaryen line, Stormborn, Mother of Dragons, claimant to the Iron Throne of Westeros.Barristan Selmy - Former Lord Commander of the Kingsguard in King's Landing. Now Lord Commander of the Dany's Queensguard.Hizdahr zo Loraq - Noble of Meereen, husband to Daenerys.Missandei - Translator and handmaid to Daenerys.Skahaz mo Kandaq (aka The Shavepate) - Ghiscari noble, loyal to Daenerys and opposed to Hizdahr.Meereen - Largest city on Slaver's Bay. This week I discuss player best practices presented in the Daggerheart core book. Keeping these in mind will enhance any tabletop RPG you play, not just Daggerheart. The first, and I'd say fundamental, best practice is to embrace danger. At the heart of this and the other best practices is to choose the interesting choice, the choice that makes a better story, not necessarily the optimal or most tactical or strategic choice. We don't “win” at these games by always succeeding, never failing. We win by creating an awesome story together. A story where the PCs always succeed is a pretty boring story. The key to making this all work at your table is to establish and maintain trust among the GM and players. And a big part of building and maintaining that trust is how you handle PC death at your table. Daggerheart has some really great guidelines for all of this. I also go over how hit points, death moves, and scars work in Daggerheart.Play Daggerheart with Me on Start Playing Games.Sign up for my newsletter.Subscribe via RSS, Apple Podcasts, or Spotify.Check out my sci-fi novel, Critical Balance.Have you read Critical Balance? TikTok and AI are apparently the final boss.In this episode, Vara and Roxy break down the pop culture moments that sparked full-blown moral panic — and ask the big question: Did any of it actually ruin us?From parental advisory stickers to Dungeons & Dragons fears, from Beavis & Butt-Head to social media meltdowns, we explore why society panics every time culture shifts. Is it really about safety and values… or is it just fear of change? It's funny. It's nostalgic. And it might make you rethink what we're freaking out about right now.

We react to the House of the Dragon season three teaser with equal parts awe and anxiety, weighing dragon spectacle against story choices and the fallout from season two's changes. We map the likely path to the Battle of the Gullet, question the prophecy thread, and track how Rhaenyra, Alicent, Aemond, and Aegon might collide.Send a textSupport the showFollow Dancing with Dragons on Instagram Follow Tony on IG: Sirtone_Reviews Follow Minwa on IG: TheArabKhaleesihttps://dancingwithdragons.buzzsprout.comEmail us @DancewithDragons62@gmail.com

This episode Ash and Tilly are scaling it down and looking at how to analyse tiny little clay dragons from the Pennykettle Dragon Sanctuary. The catch? They are alive! Which means that any destructive methods of analysis covered in previous episodes are no longer on the table. Luckily for our clay-ignorant duo, they are joined by archaeologist and professional potter Emma Harrison. Together, the three chat about playing around with clay, the diversity of sentient objects in fantasy fiction, and how a pair of socks can unveil Tilly's childhood trauma.Books mentioned:Kiln people (David Brin)Paladin's Strength (T Kingfisher)Swordheart (T Kingfisher)Nettle and Bone (T Kingfisher)The Fire Within (Chris O'Lacey)The Lord of the Rings (J. On this week's Talkhouse Podcast, we've got two women whose singing styles are similar in that they're both absolutely singular, unmistakable, and wonderfully out of step—just don't call it spoken-word. It's Florence Shaw of Dry Cleaning and Sue Tompkins of Life Without Buildings. As you'll hear in this chat, Dry Cleaning sort of fell together in London around 2017, when the three instrumentalists approached their friend Florence Shaw to add some vocals to the music they had been writing. It turned out that Shaw's approach—speaking dense, clearly crafted but never obvious words—slotted in perfectly with the sort of nervous-yet-precise songs they had been working on. By 2020, Dry Cleaning had signed with the venerated 4AD label and the next year released a debut album, New Long Leg, that earned comparisons to post-punk greats like Siouxsie and Sonic Youth. For their third studio album, Secret Love, Dry Cleaning worked with producer-slash-musician Cate Le Bon, and they stretched out a bit, mellowing the sharp corners a bit while Shaw experiments more with vocal melody than before. Check out “Cruise Ship Designer” from Secret Love right here. Another person that eagle-eared listeners have compared Florence Shaw to is Sue Tompkins of the legendary, kinda-lost Scottish band Life Without Buildings. Life Without Buildings only released one album, Any Other City, in their brief three-year run, but it had a focused impact. Shaw remembers hearing the record as a teen. “It blew my mind that you could free yourself from the pressure of making traditional sense in lyrics,” she told the website Hearing Things, before mentioning that she'd love to meet Tompkins one day and thank her. Well, with some recent activity on the Life Without Buildings front—Tompkins contributed vocals to a new Sleaford Mods song, and the band just announced a couple of reunion shows—it seemed like the perfect time to get them together. In this delightful chat, Tompkins and Shaw talk about the similar origins of their respective bands, how genuinely kind the dudes of Sleaford Mods are, and their understandable reticence about the term “spoken word.” They also chatted a bunch about the TV shows Dragons' Den and Eastenders, but we had to trim that in the interest of time. Trust me, it was great. Enjoy. Thanks for listening to the Talkhouse Podcast, and thanks to Sue Tompkins and Florence Shaw for chatting. Jared Freid welcomes comedian Shaun Murphy to Chit Chat Wednesday for a wide-ranging hang that covers stand-up life, dating, body image, nerd culture, and what happens when your comedy special includes a joke about your own skinny dick. Shaun talks about his new YouTube special Long Story Thin, growing up in Buffalo, balancing sports fandom with nerd energy, and navigating family, relationships, and confidence on stage. The two dig into watching other comedians, staying relatable when success hits, Ozempic, cookie rankings (Tate's truthers unite), Star Wars vs Harry Potter, and why Andor might actually be the best show ever made. Plus, Jared puts Shaun through a “Nerd or Not a Nerd” game that somehow connects Zelda, Buffalo Bills trauma, and comedy authenticity.Check out Shaun's new special today!

In this week's episode of Dungeons & Dragons pirate adventure, one Buc is cast adrift in a reality that refuses to sit still. Doors lead to nonsense, oceans loop without mercy, and the Dice seem to delight in absurdity as DnD bends into something stranger than ever before. With shifting devices, endless horizons, and a cave that feels far too intentional, the line between escape and experiment starts to blur.Is this exile, punishment, or preparation? Who is rearranging the rules behind the scenes? And when the journey makes no sense, what do the Dice actually want? There's only one way to find out, grab your Dnd Dice, join Tom (Keth), Paul (Milo), Alex (Derek), Chip (Jeff), and Sophie (River), led by James (the Dungeon Master) and Roll Britannia.LIVE Events https://www.rollbritannia.co.uk/live |Patreon http://www.patreon.com/rollbritannia |Feedspot https://podcast.feedspot.com/dnd_podcasts/ |Sound & music by Syrinscape: https://syrinscape.com/attributions/?id=142440 |Roll Britannia is unofficial Fan Content permitted under the Fan Content Policy. A London gravedigger spent two years quietly digging up the dead by day and selling their bodies, teeth, and severed limbs to hospitals by night — with a 14-year-old girl holding the basket.HEAR THE NEW SONG FOR THIS EPISODE! https://youtu.be/7_uVLP_0YUM *** For the final story in this podcast episode, "Knights, Dragons, and Dino DNA"... “DINOSAUR” is a pop-punk thought experiment about ancient monsters, biblical beasts, and the uncomfortable possibility that some things might not be as settled as we're told. From Behemoth to Leviathan to a certain long-necked lake resident, the song asks a simple question: if it looks like a dinosaur, sounds like a dinosaur, and terrifies everyone like a dinosaur… what exactly are we waiting for? It's a raised eyebrow to long-held beliefs set to power chords. (Interpret responsibly.)IN THIS EPISODE: The Phaistos Disc was discovered in 1903, by Italian archaeologists in southern Crete. Since then the disc has remained a mystery as no one has been able to decipher the writings upon it, nor who made the object, what was it used for, and even if it's a genuine archaeological discovery or a clever fake. (The Phaistos Disc) *** Usually you learn that a place is haunted simply because people say it is. It's common knowledge around the town or neighborhood… but when the government of your country says a place is haunted, you'd better danged well listen. Such is the case with India's Bhangarh Fort. (Bhangarh Fort – The Most Haunted Place in India) *** At the end of 1894 French army captain Alfred Dreyfus, a graduate of the École Polytechnique, and a Jew of Alsatian origin, was accused of handing secret documents to the Imperial German military. After a closed trial, he was found guilty of treason and sentenced to life imprisonment on the dreaded Devil's Island. But that's just the beginning of the story that later became known as The Dreyfus Affair. (The Dreyfus Affair) *** We've all heard of the power of the mind – it's been shown to be beneficial in the treatment of pain, some well-trained individuals can use their mind to slow their rate of respiration, to bring their heartbeat down to almost nothing with no long-term ill effects… but what about controlling things outside of your own body? Is the mind that powerful? Some believe so – and they also believe it's one possible explanation for hauntings. (The Wild PK of the Poltergeist) *** Is it possible that our history books are wrong and that humans actually did walk with dinosaurs? It might not be as far-fetched as it sounds, especially when you look at tales of knights, dragons, and T-Rex DNA. (Knights, Dragons, and Dino DNA) *** We'll have a short tale about Joseph Naples… who chose the macabre career of being a grave digger… but only because it made it easier for him to be a grave robber… and a body snatcher.
