Lisa opens up about the heartbreak and long waiting that marked her adoption journey and the exhausting habit of performing spiritually instead of resting in God's presence. Tears flow as Zach and Jase share their own adoption experiences and rejoice in the reflection of God's nature through it all. Segment 1 • “Thus Sayeth the Lord” is the Christian's true weapon in cultural and spiritual battles. • AI porn is on the rise, possibly replacing real people in 20 years, challenging Christian arguments based on human dignity. • Only God's Word offers unchanging authority. Segment 2 • AI-fueled depravity is coming fast, with the power to generate any sinful fantasy imaginable. • Christians must return to quoting Scripture, not merely offering moral objections. • God's Word is the power, not our persuasiveness. “Thus Sayeth the Lord” still turns worlds upside down. Segment 3 • Tim Challies reflects on losing his son Nick, facing the tension of tragedy and God's control. • In suffering, we must separate what God does from how He uses it. • God is good, able, and faithful—and that truth holds us. Segment 4 • Tragedy often brings anger and doubt about God's love. • If you don't know God's character, you'll misinterpret His providence. • God isn't distant—He desires deep relationship, even in our pain. ___ Thanks for listening! Meg Wolitzer presents three unexpected stories that let us see the holidays' associations—family, friends, food, gifts, and goodwill—in different ways. Amy Krouse Rosenthal presents a playful encounter with the Almighty in “Interview with God,” performed by Jayne Atkinson and James Naughton. In Sherrie Flick's “Heidi is Dead,” read by Adina Verson, a second wife tries to tune in with her in-laws. What happens when we discover there's nothing wrong with the difficult person in our life—only something missing? Graham Cooke shares the story of completely losing his composure with an intensely negative person, and the stunning revelation that followed. When Graham demanded to know "What is wrong with that guy?" he heard a small voice say, "Absolutely nothing." Through Colossians 2:13-14, we discover what was nailed to the cross besides Jesus—the decrees we make against people because of their behavior. This teaching reveals why everyone wants to be better, how grace becomes a territory all by itself, and what happens when we speak to someone's identity in the face of bad behavior. Both the speaker and the hearer are transformed.**Key Scriptures:**+ Colossians 2:13-14. "Having canceled the certificate of debt consisting of decrees against us..."+ Romans 6:11. "Reckon yourselves dead to sin and alive to God..."+ 2 Corinthians 5:16. "We regard no one according to the flesh..."**Want to explore more?**

This was a fun one! Dr. Brian Brock has written a deeply thoughtful theology of creation, which set the foundation for our conversation. As you'll see, we ended up going down several unexpected paths and honestly got me thinking through things I've never considered before. We talked about what it means to image God, the role gender plays in human creation, and the theological distinctions between humans and animals. Yes, we even wrestled with the question of whether my dog Tank will be with me in heaven.Toward the end of the conversation, we also touched on Dr. Brock's significant work in the theology of disability,Join the Theology in the Raw community on Patreon for as little as $5/month to get access to premium content. In this episode of The Maggie Williams Podcast, Maggie sits down with Pat Spinosa, host of the Like a Farmer podcast for a conversation that happened exactly how most great hunting stories do: on the road, with a duck hunt waiting at the end.Pat has built his platform around honoring rural America, agriculture, and the people who keep tradition alive through hard work, faith, and respect for the land. Through Like a Farmer, he shares stories from farming, hunting, sports, and music, all tied together by grit, legacy, and a deep connection to where we come from. This interview wasn't recorded in a studio. Pat stopped in while traveling to hunt, and that setting made the conversation all the more authentic. Maggie and Pat talk about the importance of storytelling in agriculture and the outdoors, preserving tradition in a modern world, and why the best conversations often happen when life is moving and the woods are calling.Find our host Maggie at:TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@themaggiewilliams?lang=enInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/themaggiewilliams/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/themaggiewilliamspodcast/YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCnJHqUBdfgnFLc3P87r88VwFind Pat and Like A Farmer Here: Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/pat_spinosa/?hl=enhttps://www.instagram.com/likeafarmerpodcast/?hl=enPodcast: https://www.instagram.com/likeafarmerpodcast/?hl=enThis episode is brought to you by Higdon Outdoors. When it comes to waterfowl gear you can trust in the field, Higdon Outdoors has been setting the standard for decades. When persecution scatters the church beyond Jerusalem, Philip takes the gospel to Samaria—a region synonymous with religious syncretism and idolatry for centuries. In this episode, David, Christine, and Josh explore how Philip's ministry mirrors Jesus' own work, bringing healing and freedom to a people long excluded from God's family.
Patrick answers theological questions and raw, personal struggles live on the air, moving from a listener’s confusion over the Gospel of Matthew and the meaning of “until” regarding Joseph and Mary, to the deeply emotional topic of how children of divorce are treated within Catholic school communities. He answers with biblical context, gentle wisdom, and resources for those wrestling with scrupulosity, never shying from addressing social exclusion or comforting wounded hearts. Alex - I am struggling with the Gospel today with Matthew. Matthew states that Mary and Joseph didn't have relations 'until' she gave birth to a son. Can you clarify this? (00:30) Justine - I am wondering why families who are divorced are treated like lepers, especially children? (07:15) Manuel – You made a comment on a song you didn't like called 'Mary Did You Know'. I believe she didn't know. (13:48) Scott - My relatives say they can't accept a God who would murder people and they use Numbers 31:17-18 as their example. How can I respond? (17:18) Gertrude - I was a victim of divorce. My son and I were ostracized and not invited anywhere. (26:31) Samantha - If you forget to say a sin in confession, do you need to mention that sin the next time you go to confession? (30:12) Chris – What is the correct way to pray the Memorare? (35:59) Sam - Can you help establish a timeline between Jesus's birth and Joseph taking family to Egypt and then returning to the Temple? (40:56)
Patrick answers questions on whether the Bible or the Church comes first, explains why proper marriage form matters, and responds to listeners sharing struggles with annulments or special needs in their families, intertwining scripture with real-life decisions. Children’s understanding of good, adults wrestling with Church law, and the raw ache of longing for the sacraments surface unexpectedly in the calls. Adelso (email) - Which came first the Bible or the Church? Which came first, the scripture or the Church? Which came first the word of God or the Church? (00:39) Bennett (11-years-old) - My 19-year-old sister has special needs. What would God have written on her soul? (10:12) Email – I’m Catholic but was not married in the Church. Is my marriage valid? (19:23) Marie - I have heard that God has designs on us. Is that true? (28:54) Lucas - What do I do if an annulment is not granted? I am stuck in this loop of not knowing. (34:55) Laura - When Joseph and Mary were betrothed, St Joseph was going to divorce Mary? What was the timing of this? (47:15)
Chapter 16 of Heroes in the Bible: Jesus with Dr. Tony Evans is inspired by the Gospels. The Last Supper - Jesus Spends a few final moments with his beloved disciples, and falls before God with sweat of blood. This episode begins with a tender moment interrupted by complete chaos. Jesus shows he is in complete control, although he is giving himself up to be tortured. Today's opening prayer is inspired by Matthew 26:26, And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body. Then Keith and I get vulnerable about how our faith has changed over the last few years—from realizing faith isn't just about beliefs, to understanding who Jesus actually called out (spoiler: not "the world"), to reframing the concept of sin as form of brokenness that God truly understands and has deep compassion for (as opposed to the angry God who is mad at us all the time). Today’s Bible Verse: “And she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them.” — Luke 2:7 (NIV) Luke 2:7 captures the quiet, humble moment where heaven touched earth. The Savior of the world did not arrive in comfort or celebration but in simplicity and scarcity. This verse reminds us that God often enters our stories in unexpected places—ordinary, overlooked, and far from ideal. Meet Today’s Host: Reverend Jessica Van Roekel
Read OnlineBut the angel said to him, “Do not be afraid, Zechariah, because your prayer has been heard. Your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you shall name him John. And you will have joy and gladness, and many will rejoice at his birth, for he will be great in the sight of the Lord.” Luke 1:13–15Unlike Saint Joseph and the Blessed Virgin Mary, Zechariah doubted the angel of the Lord's revelation. Our Blessed Mother encountered the Archangel Gabriel at the Annunciation and responded, “Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord. May it be done to me according to your word” (Luke 1:38). An angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream, and when Joseph awoke, “he did as the angel of the Lord had commanded him” (Matthew 1:24).Today, we are given a similar scene to ponder. Zechariah and Elizabeth are identified as being “righteous in the eyes of God, observing all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blamelessly” (Luke 1:6). In other words, Zechariah was a holy man of God. While he was standing at the altar of incense located in the Holy Place, just outside the veil of the Holy of Holies, the Archangel Gabriel appeared to him to announce that his wife had conceived a child in her old age. Gabriel further reveals, “He will be filled with the Holy Spirit even from his mother's womb, and he will turn many of the children of Israel to the Lord their God” (Luke 1:15–16).Given Zechariah's personal holiness and the extraordinary revelation he received from Gabriel, he should have believed what Gabriel said without hesitation. When he failed to do so, Gabriel said to him, “I am Gabriel, who stand before God. I was sent to speak to you and to announce to you this good news. But now you will be speechless and unable to talk until the day these things take place, because you did not believe my words…” (Luke 1:19–20).This chastisement was clearly for Zechariah's benefit. Despite his lack of faith, God wanted him to participate in His divine plan of salvation. The chastisement was not a punishment in a punitive way. It was meant to instill greater faith in him, and it accomplished its purpose. Most of us are more like Zechariah than we are like our Blessed Mother and Saint Joseph. Despite our best intentions and attempts to remain faithful to God's will, we stumble. When that happens, we must see any consequences as a gift of love from God. Chastisements come in many forms. They are meant to wake us up to a greater obedience to God's will. Reflect today on any ways that your sins have resulted in consequences. It takes deep humility to admit our sins and take responsibility for their effects. Though it is easy to be angry, to point the finger elsewhere, and to justify our actions, doing so is a rejection of God's loving chastisement meant for our good. Strive to imitate Zecharaiah by humbly changing when your sin results in consequences so that God can bring good into your life, even from a lack of faith and obedience to His will. Most merciful Lord, You chastise those whom You love so as to redirect them to Your holy will. When I sin, please help me to accept the consequences with humility and as a motivation to turn back to You in fidelity and love. Please make me holy in imitation of Zechariah, Saint Joseph, and our Blessed Mother. We believe that the balance, or as we call it the "radical middle" between Word and Spirit isn't found through treating them like opposing forces. Rather, it's found through pursuing both fully and deeply. We want the full counsel of the Word of God. We want you to be biblically literate, equipped to rightly divide the Word for yourself. We also want the Holy Spirit to move in power, unhindered and unquenched in our lives, and we want you to see His miraculous power at work. It's easy to feel theologically homeless when you have a hunger for the Word, an appreciation for church history and liturgy, yet see the lack of spiritual depth in many churches. We also know how stifling it can feel to know there is more to experience of God's power in your life, but have so few balanced voices to learn from. The Remnant Radio was born out of our own hunger for challenging conversations, theological depth, and a desire to experience all that God has for us!

In this episode, we take an honest look at a statement many Gen Zers quietly wrestle with: “I don't feel like a Christian.” What happens when your faith makes sense in theory, but feels distant or disconnected in your heart? Do fluctuating emotions or doubts mean something is wrong with your salvation? Let's explore what Scripture actually says about salvation and assurance, including the important distinction between eternal security (what God does and promises) and assurance of salvation (what we experience and feel). If you've ever wondered, “Am I really saved?” or if you've ever felt spiritually disconnected or unsure where you stand with God, this episode will help you ground your faith not in feelings, but in truth. Happiness in Marriage by Autumn Dickson This week is all about The Family Proclamation. Here is the topic I want to cover. Happiness in family life is most likely to be achieved when founded upon the teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ. I want to talk about happiness in marriage specifically, but the principles I speak about can be applied more broadly to any relationship you're going to be a part of. Marriages are falling apart in our day. Satan is coming after the family in a multi-pronged attack, but destroying marriages is just one part of how he chooses to do this. Social media loves showing off images of bright and shiny couples, individuals who seem so much happier alone, and advice about how your spouse should be acting towards you. We're taught that we deserve to be happy and if we're not happy, we should leave. We're taught that if a spouse can't meet our needs, we can't be happy. We're taught that it's better for the kids if we're happy. And yet, despite all of this teaching, the world can't seem to get it together and be happy. Oh the irony. I love my marriage. I'm so grateful to have Conner, and there are a lot of reasons for that. One of those reasons is not because Conner or I have been perfect. It's not because we agree on everything, or even agree on everything that's really important. It's not because we've never been mean to each other or because we've never had to navigate days at a time where we can't really figure out how to get past something. It's not because Conner is so intuitive at reading me or because I never complain. We are two different people with different baggage, different perspectives, different personalities, different ways of handling things. We are two people who experience times of drowning stress, resentment, uncertainty, and traumas. It can be easy to look at happy couples and assume that they have it easy, but that's not true. It's not true for anyone. There are relationships that hold more difficulty than others which is why I encourage everyone to seek the help of the Lord in knowing what to do. However, if you've married a generally decent person who doesn't scream at you, belittle you, act violently towards you, financially abuse you, then there is hope for happiness. And your best chance for happiness lies in following the teachings of Jesus Christ. Christ didn't focus on communication styles or on making sure you have everything in common ahead of entering a relationship. He didn't focus on love languages or living together ahead of time to see if you're compatible or any of the other stuff that the world tries pushing so hard. He doesn't even focus on making sure the other person knows how to take care of you in a relationship. He didn't focus on changing the other person so that you could be happy. The foremost characteristic of Christ's life was love, love for God and then love for others. Everything He did, the miracles and leading and teaching and forgiving and gratitude and serving all boiled down to that great love. If we want to be happy, we have to love the other person more fully. In order to find this happiness, you have to have a correct understanding of what that love looks like. Otherwise, you run the risk of building up more resentment rather than finding happiness. Love does not mean you're a doormat. It doesn't mean you never say anything or complain. It doesn't mean that you smile and stay silent when you're hurting. Love is not an outward action. It is an inward feeling that inspires different kinds of outward actions. Sometimes love does mean looking at the back of a person and choosing to smile even when they're doing something annoying again. Sometimes it does mean mercy and forgiveness and letting go when none of it was your fault. Sometimes it means accepting them exactly as they are and finding it within yourself to feel affectionate anyway. Other times, the most loving thing you can do is speak up. Sometimes the most loving thing you can do is tell someone they're wrong. The beautiful thing about it coming from a place of love is that the Spirit can help you know how to handle the situation in the best way available. Chastisement also hits differently when you can feel that the other person is actually more worried about you rather than worried about how you're making their life harder. Think of it in this way. When Conner comes to correct me sometimes (which we do often enough for each other), I get up in arms sometimes. My gut reaction is to insist that he doesn't understand what I'm going through, and criticism isn't helpful. Luckily, I have a husband who gets this, and he often continues the conversation calmly. He also dives in and tells how it would be better for me if I chose to make different decisions. It's extremely effective. He once told me that I needed to be more consistent in my discipline with one of our kids. I was so mad. It is so difficult to keep up sometimes, and it's hard to figure out the balance between disciplining your kids and letting it go because you're desperate or because you don't want them to feel like terrible kids. But he continued on calmly. He told me that I was actually making my own life harder by letting things go, that it would only take a couple of days of consistency and my kids would know I was serious. He was totally right but beyond that, he also did it with sincere love for me, and that made all the difference. Correcting me was a form of love; it was Christlike. Not to mention, it landed differently because it was about love for me. He wasn't correcting me because I was making his life more difficult. He was correcting me because he really wanted me to live better. I'm not going to pretend this isn't a hard point to reach. It is hard to love someone when you don't feel loved. It's hard to love someone when you feel like you're the only one who has been stepping up. It's hard to love someone when you're drowning in your own stress. It calls upon some of your deepest willpower and self-observation. I'm not talking about reaching down and hollowing yourself out and giving the last pieces of yourself. I'm not talking about resigning yourself to misery because you have to love them rather than begging them to change. I'm talking about letting go of your need to change them in order for you to find happiness. I'm talking about actively working on yourself, not to stop complaining or to stop nitpicking, but to actively and consciously choose to love them in the hardest moments. If you want to be happy in family life, you have to follow the teachings of Christ. One of the foremost characteristics of Christ, the characteristic that motivated everything else, was a sincere and deep love of everyone. Including those who wouldn't change or didn't deserve it. If you want to be happy, love freely. Happiness doesn't come from being loved perfectly; it comes from loving more perfectly. That is the truth. You have to change yourself to love the other person more freely. This goes for any kind of relationship. This doesn't mean you need to stay in every relationship, but loving the other person will help you heal faster even if that person was awful. It's counterintuitive but true. Truly loving someone frees you and heals you and brings happiness. Perhaps it seems too simple for your problem. Maybe you're insisting that I don't know your spouse and how hard it is. You're right. I don't. But I do know the power of changing to be like Christ. I do know that He was the most brilliant Man to ever walk the earth. I know that He knows what He was talking about. In any situation in your marriage (or any other relationship), trying to adopt love into your heart in the way that Christ loved will make the difference. I testify that happiness in any kind of relationship comes when we act like Christ. We find happiness. I testify that even if you can't find happiness directly in your relationship, there is a powerful happiness available in drawing closer to Christ. There is a powerful happiness that comes when you find it within yourself to love the other person and lean on Christ and His deep love when you need it. Do you feel like you're just getting through the day? Like you're surviving instead of truly living? Maybe you feel stuck, exhausted, or quietly wondering if things will ever get better. If that's you, this episode is for you. Today, we're talking about wonder—and how rediscovering it can bring life, joy, and hope back into places that feel dark or stagnant. As we move through the Christmas season and toward a new year, I felt God impress this word wonder on my heart. Wonder isn't just a feeling—it's a posture. It's the belief that there is more than what we see right now. That God is still working. That surprises, redemption, and beauty are still possible, even after long seasons of pain. In this episode, I unpack what wonder really is, why it matters so much, and how losing it slowly drains the life out of us. We talk about how a lack of wonder can leave us feeling flat, hopeless, and resigned—like this is “as good as it gets.” But that is not God's story for your life. I truly believe God wants to restore wonder in your heart—this Christmas season and beyond. You are not forgotten. You are not stuck forever. And even if it feels silent right now, God is still working behind the scenes. love, Brittany Ready to become a peaceful wife and Mama? Sign Up for the Pain to Peace Academy HERE.
