Smarts editor Todd Campbell joins AAP's Chris Versace on this week's podcast and as you'll hear Todd is coming in rather feisty. Hot on the heels of Fed Chair Powell's appearance at the Economic Club of New York, Todd shares his view that there is simply too much negativity in the market and if you look carefully enough, some green shoots may be emerging. While Chris doesn't dismiss Todd's argument, he shares he will continue to position the AAP portfolio based on the evolving data landscape, particularly for Fed policy. As he points out, while many are focused on whether the Fed will stop hiking rates, when the Fed starts to signal it is ready to begin cutting rates is as important. To that Todd shared he doesn't see a rate cut coming until this time next year, which is four months later than the market now expects. In defending his rationale, he points out the market has consistently missed the market on calling the moves in Fed policy so far this year. The conversation continues with thoughts on the 2023 holiday shopping season, Google (GOOGL), and the current earnings season.

The stock market is bearish but there are still some deals to made in the overall market. When the market is bearish, this is the best time to get some stocks while they are essentially on sale. This crash has been made by a multitude of factors including inflation, FOMC statements, interest rates and shipping issues. Google(GOOGL) recently announced that they will be doing a 20-for-1 stock split that will take effect in July. This is a great opportunity for investors especially retail investors to grow your account. When Tesla ($TSLA) and Apple ($AAPL) did a 5-for-1 stock split in 2021 it helped both companies raise money but also raised there stock prices as well. Apple went on to reach a $3T trillion dollar market cap. Stock splits are a great way to grow your account. Microsoft has bought Activision Blizzard for $68.7 billion dollars. Activision Blizzard is famous for games like Candy Crush, Call of Duty, Diablo and World of Warcraft. This is a huge move for Microsoft ($MSFT) and Activision Blizzard ($ATVI) who are both publicly traded. This move comes as the hot topic in 2022 will be the Metaverse. Sony ($SONY) has bought Bungie for $3.6 billion dollars. Bungie is most known for the Halo and Destiny game series. This is a huge move for Sony with the huge success of the PS5 console. This move comes as the metaverse wars begin to heat up in 2022. Amazon ($AMZN) also had there earnings last week were they showed that they are equipped to handle any market crisis.
