This week, Brandi and Georgie will tackle Sustaining Success: The Integral Role of Customer Success in Revenue TeamsGeorgie is a third-culture kid born in the US to Greek immigrants who grew up in the Middle East. She began her career in the public sector at the Embassy of Cyprus, conducted health care research as an analyst at the Advisory Board Company in Washington, DC., and taught English in Spain and Ethiopia.Leaping into SaaS and Customer Success in 2015, her first Customer Success role was at HubSpot's Dublin, Ireland office, where she became a leader overseeing the Implementation Specialist team. Since then, Georgie has led more than 40 global Customer Success professionals across teams at SaaS companies of various stages, including Sprout Social, Showpad (Learncore) and Workday (ScoutRFP).Georgie has spent her entire career at mission-driven organizations and companies, consistently putting the citizen, the patient, the customer, or the team at the center of everything she does.Bullet Points of Key Topics + Chapter Markers:Topic #1 Defining Customer Success [07:01] “It's really important that customer success teams are goal oriented, and that those goals are driven by their customers,” Georgie shares. She goes on to explain, “if you're investing in a software or a service, it means that you either don't have the time, or the capabilities, or the people or the resource on your team to solve it”. This partnership helps drive customers towards those goals and see success.Topic #2 The Role of Customer Success in the Revenue Process [11:37] Georgie describes some reasoning behind variables as to when Customer Success should be inserted into the revenue process, such as company size and growth stage. However, she goes on to explain, “[if] we're more talking about b2b SaaS companies...I do think CSMs are really well positioned” to be integral at least in the renewal stage.Topic #3 Optimizing Revenue through Customer Success [17:45] “We're living now through a time that shows us how quickly things can change” Georgie says, “so some of it is understanding competitive intelligence versus the cost of doing nothing intelligence.” Creating alignment with Sales, Marketing and Customer Success is critical to your Revenue Process she says; “companies that work in silos don't succeed”, so, in order to optimize revenue, there has to be integration at some level. So, What's the One Thing You Can Do Today?Georgie's one thing is to “Go and find a CES (Customer Effort Score) person that you haven't connected with yet and have a 20-minute conversation with them”, she advises and ask them to share about their role.Links:Get in touch with Georgie Papacostas onLinkedInSales Assembly

In modern agriculture, managing your farm means selecting and managing your machinery well. But how do you make effective decisions about what machinery to use, when to replace machinery, and whether or not your machinery is making a positive impact on your bottom line? Sam Schwab, Implementation Specialist with CropZilla Software, Inc., joins this episode of the FarmBits podcast to discuss how CropZilla is revealing the hidden influence machinery and other operational components and decisions have on a farm's bottom line. CropZilla was born out of a farmer's need to understand his operation past the level of complexity enabled by typical spreadsheet software. The goal of software created by CropZilla - including the enterprise software for desktop usage and CropZilla Machine Analytics app - is to provide farmers easy to use, flexible solutions that enable them to measure the impact of their operations and machinery decisions. As Sam mentions in this episode, it is critical to get all costs on a farm into the units of dollars per acre so that they can be effectively compared versus income and other costs measured in those units. Without an accurate measurement of the costs or benefits of all farm operations and decisions in those units, farm profitability can never be fully captured, or manipulated for maximum benefit. "Making these costs visible, because farmers don't really know. An extra fungicide pass might gsay itll get youy, an extra five bushel an acre or something like that, but maybe they're not taking into acount what you're using to apply it with or your costs associated with putting it on, because you have to pay for the machine, equipment, fuel, labor, all of those things. They might just say well this is X number of dollars per acre and you'll make this much more, but they're not taking into account all those other things. So making these costs visible is the first step in being able to make decisions with them." "A lot of farmers have their fertilizer, their seed, all that down to literally the penny per unit on that. So trying to get a handle on your equipment costs is a big part of that. . . . New equipment isn't always more expensive, because like I mentioned you can get it back with yield increases, timeliness increases." Technology tools, like the online learning portal from Dallas-based iStation, are not only helping students in elementary school, but they are aiding early literacy efforts for kids just coming into Kindergarten. In this episode of the EdTech Podcast, host Tyler Kern sat down with Dr. Jane Moore , Strategic Professional Development Specialist, and Dr. Georgia Thompson, Trainer and Implementation Specialist at IStation, to discuss why early literacy is important for its very youngest students. While sophisticated, 1:1-empowering, and device-driven EdTech might be considered a relatively new development in instruction, IStation’s adaptive online reading curriculum for elementary school students has roots in a Clinton-era initiative called the National Reading Panel. The panel helped establish the five essential pillars for literacy learning, upon which IStation’s curriculum is based. The pillars include phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary development, reading fluency, and reading comprehension. Teaching these scientifically-based reading pillars is helping close the gap for incoming Kindergarten students, whose literacy often varies widely from English as a second language to fluent readers. “Studies have shown how simultaneous advantage of using print, sound, and animation is really speeding along those acquisition skills we want our children to have,” Dr. Moore said. In addition, the International Literacy Association found that meaningful use of digital resources can substantially diminish the literacy difference between the low-economic student and their more affluent peers. But if you think IStation’s online learning portal is removing teachers from the equation, Georgia assures that’s not the case. “We never want to replace the teacher,” Dr. Thompson said. “It does not supplant, it just supplements.”
