Los Angeles is celebrating in record-breaking style as the Dodgers clinch a seven-game World Series victory over the Toronto Blue Jays — the most-watched Fall Classic in decades. Star catcher Will Smith even celebrated by clocking in for a surprise “shift” at Raising Cane's in Hollywood. Meanwhile, a high-stakes media battle brews between Disney and YouTube TV, with ESPN and ABC going dark amid a carriage fee standoff that's costing Disney millions daily and leaving fans furious over missed games. Down South, a quick-thinking Louisiana mom earns praise for helping police nab a suspected shoplifter in a chase that's straight out of a movie. And in the latest sign of inflation's reach, a new survey reveals that 60% of Americans would consider a brand-sponsored wedding to cut costs.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

We have many thoughts about the World Series including loving a Game Seven which had all the things except the result we wanted. Ernie Clement was the center of it all, Freddie couldn't stop with the walk offs, Yamamoto earned that MVP, we got a bench clearing kerfuffle, Will Smith took another big swing, and we had multiple chances to talk about just how much time Shohei should be taking. The TOR bullpen joined the LAD in showing support for Alex Vesia. Vladdy honored Captain Clutch, Marie Philip Poulin, but was unable to channel her magic. Congrats to Pookie for winning the Roberto Clemente award. ICE cooled off ticket sales and caused the plug to be pulled on the LIDOM showcase at Citifield, but the DR/PR all stars may still be on. The MLBPA flushed out a mole. And we give Max the last word on the season. We say, “I'm doing numerology in my head,” “a tax on people who can't do math,” and, “I'll cheers with my Canadian little whiskey here.” Fight the man, send your game balls to Meredith, get boosted, and find us on Bluesky @ncibpodcast, on Facebook @nocryinginbball, Instagram @nocryinginbball and on the Interweb at nocryinginbball.com. On this episode of the Three-Inning Save podcast, the Dodgers won their second straight World Series with an incredible Game 7 comeback, which took 11 innings to beat the Blue Jays in Toronto. Yoshinobu Yamamoto started and won Game 6, then got the final eight outs of Game 7 to win World Series MVP. Will Smith hit the game-winning home run in the 11th inning of Game 7, after his 73 innings behind the plate were the most by any catcher in World Series history. There was also the Kiké Hernández alert double play to end Game 6, with a throw that was expertly scooped at second base by Miguel Rojas for the final out of the game. Rojas then hit the game-tying home run in the ninth inning of Game 7 to send the series finale into extras. The Dodgers are the first MLB team to win consecutive titles since the New York Yankees in 1998-2000. A championship parade is coming Monday in downtown Los Angeles, plus a celebration at Dodger Stadium. The Three-Inning Save is part of the Fans First Sports Network. The Dodgers outlasted the Blue Jays 5–4 in Game 7 at Rogers Centre, capturing their second straight World Series title and becoming baseball's first repeat champions since the 2000 Yankees. Will Smith provided the decisive swing, crushing a solo home run in the top of the 11th off Shane Bieber to put L.A. ahead for good. Yoshinobu Yamamoto, pitching on zero days' rest, recorded the final five outs to secure the championship — his third win of the series and fifth of the postseason. Toronto struck first behind Bo Bichette's three-run homer off Shohei Ohtani in the third inning, but the Dodgers clawed back. Max Muncy's solo blast in the eighth made it 4–3, and Miguel Rojas tied the game in the ninth with one of the most dramatic home runs in World Series history — a 357-foot shot off Jeff Hoffman that silenced the sold-out Rogers Centre. From there, both teams traded blows. Toronto's defense shined, with Vladimir Guerrero Jr. turning a critical 3–6–3 double play and Andy Pages making a collision catch to save the game in the ninth. But the Dodgers' relentlessness proved too much. Smith, who caught every inning of the series — 1,054 pitches in total — came through in the 11th, cementing his place among postseason legends. Yamamoto's performance closed the door on a postseason for the ages: 5–0 with a 1.63 ERA. The Dodgers, deep, disciplined, and battle-tested, once again found the right answers when it mattered most. Steve and Devin also broke down the incredible October run of Ernie Clement — whose 30 hits set a new single-postseason record — and the historic implications of Yamamoto joining Randy Johnson (2001) as the only pitchers in the last 57 years to win three games in one World Series. Follow @TablesettersPod on Instagram and X for full championship reactions, offseason breakdowns, and exclusive Dodgers-Blue Jays Game 7 analysis all week.
The World Series is over, and what a Series it was! The Dodgers stormed back from down 3-2 in the series and 4-1 in Game 7 to win in 11 innings. It was a Will Smith solo HR in the 11th and 2.2 shutout innings in relief from Yoshinobu Yamamoto a day after throwing 96 pitches that led the Dodgers to their second straight title and third since 2020. For the rest of us, it means the offseason can start in earnest as free agency begins Thursday. The Orioles have their new manager, inking former Cleveland Guardians Associate Manager Craig Albernaz as the 21st manager in franchise history. What's next for Birdland? Andrew Stetka joins Paul to discuss that and more on The Bat Around!

We critique the true history behind Will Smith's Oscar winning performance in King Richard, where he plays Richard Williams, the father and coach of tennis stars Venus and Serena Williams. We talk about the real reason the family moved to Compton, the complexity of the real people that the movie leaves out, and ask ourselves how the movie holds up against the real story. We also fit in a great Rotten Tomatoes game where Mel gets to guess the scores of Will Smith's filmography! If you like the show, we'd love it if you'd support us and leave us a REVIEW and SUBSCRIBE.
