Nuacht Mhall. Príomhscéalta na seachtaine, léite go mall. * Inniu an fichiú lá de mhí Eanáir. Is mise Gwyneth Nic Aidicín Ní Loingsigh. Thóg an Aifric Theas cás roimh an gCúirt Bhreithiúnais Idirnáisiúnta ag líomhain gur cinedhíothú atá ar siúl ag Iosrael i nGaza. Chualathas an cás i gcúirt sa Háig an tseachtain seo caite. Sa tuarascáil, atá 84 leathanach i bhfad, mhaígh an Aifric Theas go bhfuil an Iosrael ciontach “d'iarracht grúpa náisiúnta, eitneach nó reiligiúnach a scriosadh i bpáirt nó san iomlán" faoin gCoinbhinsiún um Chinedhíothú 1948. Dhiúltaigh Iosrael na héileamh go láidir. Is dócha go dtógfaidh sé blianta chun cinneadh ar an gcúiseamh a fháil sa chúirt. Mar sin, d'iarr an Aifric Theas ar an CBI roinnt beart sealadach a thógáil, an chéad cheann chun “stad láithreach a chur ar oibríocht mhíleata Iosrael in agus i gcoinne Gaza”. D'áitigh dlíodóir ar son Iosrael nach raibh aon bhunús dlí ag an mbeart agus go bhfágfadh sé Hamas saor le gníomhú.

Our understanding and definition of what excellent leadership is can vary greatly across continents, countries, and cultures. It is also influenced by individual characteristics such as age, gender, and heritage. And as newer generations enter, and progress, within the workforce, so too do their values and preferences. One of the most notable shifts currently taking place is how we value emotional intelligence (particularly in the workplace) and the growing recognition of its role in cultivating exceptional leadership. Joining us today on the show to help us unpack this nuanced topic is Luis Moreno, an expert in emotional intelligence and human-centered leadership with a special interest in diversity, equity, and inclusion. Luis has long been an advocate for the important role of emotional intelligence when it comes to leadership. His many years at various Fortune 500 companies exposed him to a range of leadership styles and taught him how to recognize the type of leaders that bring out the best in their employees. This inspired him to establish his platform LuisMorenoTCBPN (The Twin Cities Business Peer Network), where he is training a new generation of leaders to be more effective, more inclusive, and more human-centered in their thinking, behaviors and communication. In our conversation, we discuss the concept of emotional intelligence, how it can help you become a great leader, and how Luis is seeing this play out in organizations around the world. He goes on to explore the notion of empathy, its role in the workplace, and why understanding and respecting someone's perspective doesn't necessarily mean you agree with them. Luis also breaks down the responsibility organizations have when it comes to investing in leadership training and how this will help them avoid key problem areas such as a lack of engagement from employees and a high turnover rate. Today's conversation will leave you with a new appreciation for what it means to be a thoughtful and conscientious leader. Tune in to hear all of Luis's thought-provoking insights and observations on how the world is re-examining empathy, emotional intelligence, and leadership and why that re-examination is critical for the success of businesses, employees and work cultures today.   Key Highlights From This Episode:  Introducing Luis Moreno, his career trajectory, and what his work at multiple Fortune 500 hundred companies has taught him about leadership. [01:30] Understanding the complex conversation on being ‘liked' versus ‘respected' as a leader and the downsides that accompany the fear of not being liked. [06:27]  The image companies project about themselves concerning issues like diversity, equity, and inclusion, versus the reality of what they're actually implementing, and how this affects employees. [11:48] An overview of emotional intelligence, how it can make you a better leader, and why it results in superior decision-making and improved outcomes in the long term. [16:18] The younger generation's expectations of leaders and why they require leaders to be transparent about their values. [19:21] Training people to understand the impact of their views and how emotional intelligence helps us connect with people who do not share our perspective. [26:55] How emotional intelligence can help you gain an understanding of why an employee or teammate is underperforming. [35:31] Recognizing how corporate environments often don't allow minorities and people from marginalized communities to excel. [37:48] Learn where you can find Luis and his training online. [39:32] Luis's parting message on emotional intelligence: the value of finding appreciation for someone else's interests and how this can be applied to the workplace. The Wizard of Lies is a 2017 American television biopic film directed by Barry Levinson and written by Sam Levinson, Sam Baum, and John Burnham Schwartz,[1] based on the 2011 non-fiction book of the same name by Diana B. Henriques. The film stars Robert De Niro as businessman and fraudster Bernie Madoff, Michelle Pfeiffer as his wife Ruth Madoff, and Alessandro Nivola as their older son Mark Madoff. It aired on HBO on May 20, 2017. Big Eyes is a 2014 American biographical drama film directed by Tim Burton, written by Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski, and starring Amy Adams and Christoph Waltz. It is about the relationship between American artist Margaret Keane and her second husband, Walter Keane, who, in the 1950s and 1960s, took credit for Margaret's phenomenally popular paintings of people with big eyes.

Should Instagram Get to Censor Art?   Whether we like it or not, they are.   Their guidelines explicitly allow for real world art that depicts sexual content. Some artists are being banned completely.   A good example: The Little Black Gallery in London had their entire account deleted for a congratulatory post that had a silhouette image of a woman.   Artists need a platform to be seen.   I ran into an issue when I tried to promote my watercolor class Go Figure. This course will help you paint realistic and natural human figure, and my very non-explicit image was considered too explicit for Instagram.   Click here for access to my Go Figure class.  Why Art is Now Boring   Do you like art that's interesting, pushing boundaries or boring vanilla art? I know you all want interesting art. So why has art become boring?   Journalist, Michelle Goldberg wrote about the new book by W. David Marx Status and Culture: How Our Desire for Social Rank Creates Taste, Identity, Art, Fashion, and Constant Change  Goldberg shares that the book highlights how we use art and fashion to demonstrate our social status, but the author no longer thinks it's no longer working. Why? Several reasons but one of the biggest is the ability we have to fake our “image” with filters or by photoshopping ourselves next to a private plane.   For links to this and other great reads check out my book club list.   Grab my book club reading list here!   The Dark Side of Matisse  The Red Studio Exhibit shows the famous Matisse painting of his studio. The exhibit pulls out each piece of art and other things in the room.   It's made me aware of a backstory that I didn't know until now. The nude painting depicted is likely that of Matisse's daughter who would have been 16 or 17 at the time.   It makes me see this in a new light. What do you think?   Join the conversation and let me know what you think on Instagram.  Big Eyes: The Art of Margaret Keane  Margaret D. H. Keane (born Peggy Doris Hawkins, September 15, 1927 – June 26, 2022) was an American artist known for her paintings of subjects with big eyes. She mainly painted women, children, or animals in oil or mixed media.   Her husband was originally credited for her work, but she claimed ownership after they divorced. They had to have a “paint off” in court so she could prove it was her work!   A resurgence of interest in Margaret Keane's work followed the release of Tim Burton's 2014 biopic Big Eyes which I highly recommend.   If you are struggling to gain recognition for your work, I've got you.   Check out podcast episode 170, Top Insider Publicity Secrets with Senior Media Coach Lynya Floyd  Art World News Weekend Edition  It's been a busy week. We've covered censorship on Instagram. Additionally, we found out that art is now boring from author W. David Marx.   I'm still checking out your comments about the ethics of Matisse's painting of his daughter.   Lastly, I loved sharing Margaret Keane's story about her art, her fight to claim her own work, and why her method of painting eyes came about.   Until next time, stay inspired.

"Big Eyes" is Tim Burton's passion project about artists Walter and Margaret Keane but more primarily on Margaret for she is a pioneer in modern art of the time with her paintings that have the signature "big eyes" on the subjects. It's a fairly written film about standing up for yourself especially when it's stuff that's be distributed all around the world. I just personally felt that the acting in the Walter character is too much and the character of Margaret was a bit too weak. I can't say if the plot itself was a bit too laid back in a sense but the third act does make up for it. 2 1/2 of 4

We once again traverse into the filmography of Tim Burton by chatting Big Eyes, his 2014 dramatization of a true story about an artist (Margaret Keane, played by Amy Adams) and a con man/art maven (Walter Keane, played by Christoph Waltz).  Is that distinct Tim Burton signarture imprinted on this movie, or could it be more accurately described as a screenwriting showcase for Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski (Ed Wood, People vs. Larry Flynt, Dolemite is my Name, Man on the Moon ...)? What did this movie remind us of? What does it mean to have the "soul of an artist"?

Margaret Keane, a native of Co Meath, passed away in England in 2018. Cailleadh Margaret Keane, as Co na Mí ó dhúchas, i Sasana in 2018. She was well known in the Gaelic Athletic Association and in the Irish community as a whole. Bhí aithne mhór uirthi i gCumann Lúthchleas Gael agus i measc an phobail Éireannaigh trí chéile thall. The family had appealed against a judge's ruling in a lower ecclesiastical court last year that an English version of the inscription must also be placed on the slab for fear that people might think the Irish language was a political slogan. Bhí achomharc déanta ag an teaghlach in aghaidh rialú breithimh i gcúirt eaglasta níos ísle anuraidh go gcaithfí leagan Béarla den inscríbhinn a chur ar an leac chomh maith ar eagla go gceapfadh daoine gur mana polaitiúil a bhí sa Ghaeilge. The family's attorney claimed that the ruling was discriminatory and that there were inscriptions in Welsh, Latin and Hebrew on other gravestones in the same cemetery with no translations. In this episode Mark talks about one of his favourite films: the 2014 American biographical comedy-drama "Big Eyes" directed by Tim Burton. The story of the film depicts the life of American artist Margaret Keane (played in the film by Amy Adams) - who is famous for painting portraits of people with big eyes - and how in the 1960s her then husband, Walter Keane (played in the film by Christoph Waltz), took credit for Margaret's successful and popular paintings and forced Margaret to live a lie and at the expense of her happiness, while Walter received all the praise and all the financial rewards. Written by Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski, the film follows the then Margaret Ulbrich as she leaves her ex-husband with their daughter Jane, Margaret's move to San Francisco to start a new life for herself and her daughter, Margaret's meeting and then marriage to Walter Keane, Margaret struggle to keep the secret that she and not Walter is the real artist of the "big eyes" paintings, Margaret's life of living in fear while being married to Walter, and Margaret's eventual escape away from Walter with her daughter Jane and their move to Honolulu, Hawaii, where Margaret would successfully expose Walter's plagiarism of her work for all the world to see. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/markthepoet/message

(Tiago 1:17).

Thematic threads of her work are grey-toned girls with one big eye as "Big-Eye-Art" and the Lowbrow Art Movement have had a major impact on her, and she (usually) only exposes one eye: the left eye, as that is the eye that represents true emotion. Lizzy uses grey tones for her characters to avoid assigning them race or ethnicity, as all human should be permitted to relate to them, but they end up with a slight creepy look, and that's okay. Lizzy does not try to capture absolute realism in her works, preferring the fantastic and whimsical. Margaret Keane and Walt Disney have been her two biggest artistic influences. Margaret a 26 ans. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

The humanoid figures have the strong feminine and fairy tale qualities of Manga and the classic sailor-girl tattoos. The sexuality is drawn for the female gaze as a rebuttal to pop-culture’s dominant, male-centric point of view. The themes of bondage and domination create an ominous thread throughout her work that inspired her motto: “Cuteness has a dark side, too.” Her acrylics and watercolors are masterful combinations of color that are pleasing to stare at. Fan Mail Friday Episode 028 Renee from Aspen Colorado writes in and that she recently saw a wonderful art documentary on Alexander Calder. She loves our podcast, She asks me what artistic movies are my favorite and if I have any and if I would share those? Thank you Renee for this for sharing this and I love this question! I have seen that Alexander Calder biography a number of years ago and it is truly spectacular I am a fan of his work and have been inspired by his talents as well. Well the answer to the question is a big giant yes, yes I do get inspired by biographies, documentaries, and films that feature artists and their journey through their life is an artist.  Whether the movie is fiction, factual, inspirational or biographical I always learn something from these individuals that have pave the way for other artists in history.  I am also inspired by production companies like Pixar, Disney, Lucas films etc. because those stories and journeys, trials triumphs and failures have all resulted in a unique art form that everyone of all ages can truly appreciate.  There are a handful of films that I have found that feature artists and the story of their life and their work that has inspired me in one way shape or form.  Alrighty… in not in any particular order I'm going to start off with films that just come right to my mind that I have really enjoyed, These are films about the artist themselves or representation of an artist: 1.) The Girl with the Pearl Earring  2.) Frida the story of Frida Kahlo 3.) The Thomas Crown Affair 4.) Pollick about Jackson Pollock 5.) Bigeyes about Margaret Keane 6.) Basquiat 7.) Midnight in Paris, 8.) Women in Gold (not Women in Red as I said in the podcast) …. and there are probably another 25 or so movies I could talk about....  Then there some movies that were off the beaten path that I'm not sure sure if they were big box office hits, but these are ones that come to mind and definitely worth a watch: 1.) Art School Confidential 2.) Chocolat 3.) June Bug  4.) The Best Offer Now I know perhaps some of you will be writing to me saying "what about this movie and what about that movie", I try to answer all these questions as fresh as they come in and as swiftly and spontaneous as I can. I want to be able to answer these questions so that they are as organic as possible unless it's something I truly have to research this is the format of this Fan Mail Friday is to address questions as they would as a spontaneous response based on if we were sitting around the table talking. If I have more time this week I will certainly delve into other movies, but I just wanted to address some that off the top of my head I have seen, I have been inspired by them most of them I would say I've watched more than 3 or 4 times …. and if I'm channel surfing and I see one of these movies or other artistic movies I will stop and watch it no matter what seeing the movie is in. Ha ha! Then there are the biographies, there are far too many biographies that I could mention right now that are awesome, I believe if you check on YouTube or even Google most famous artist you will find a biography or Support the show (https://www.patreon.com/rockstarmentor)

London's V+A Museum has just reopened the Weston Cast Court, which houses life-size plaster casts of statuary and artefacts from around Europe. It includes the museum's largest items, can it draw their largest crowds? Larry Gelbart's City of Angels is revived at London's Donmar Warehouse. A musical about the golden age of Hollywood, it garnered awards galore 25 years ago in its original run, will this production be a winner? Tim Burton's new film Big Eyes is about 1960s housewife Margaret Keane whose paintings of waifs with enormous dark eyes were wildly commercially successful, but her husband claimed all the glory until she decided to make a break for fame in her own right. Small Books: We look at 3 works of extremely short fiction. Hanif Kureishi, Haruki Murakami and AN Wilson all have stories to tell, that they feel are best-suited to new diminutive formats. The BBC has remade EF Benson's Mapp and Lucia in sumptuous style; is it a new classic?
