At Stripping the Dipping, we pride ourselves on sharing a broad range of perspectives from across the motorsport community. The story of the 2024 Formula One season is "What has happened to Red Bull?" from McLaren MP4-4 levels of dominance last year, to a season that has seen eight race winners, and a ten race streak without the energy drink company on the top step of the podium. So who better to analyse why, than a man with a PhD in Fluid Mechanics, who also happens to be a fan of the Milton Keynes based team? Dr Obbs joins F1Blag to discuss the technical and sporting reasons why Red Bull has been engulfed by the pack, and why - for a while - it looked like McLaren's Lando Norris had a genuine chance of snatching the World Drivers' Championship from Verstappen. Let us know what you think of this episode in the comments, come and find us on X or Instagram @StripTheDip!
If someone offered you a chance to drive one of the fastest race cars on earth, would you do it? The catch: If you screw up, your boss will shut down your office and fire you and everyone you work with. Also, you have the entire Indianapolis Motor Speedway to yourself and McLaren-Mercedes people are watching and judging and SERIOUSLY JUST RELAX ALREADY. Once, Sam belted into a 2007 McLaren MP4-22 Formula 1 car. With the tiny deafening V-8 and the anti-stall and the goofy hand clutch. The car blew his mind, but quietly. He wrote about the day for Road & Track. And in this episode, he is peppered with questions about all of it. This show's format rotates weekly, because squirrel. We call this ep's framework “Sam Tells a Story.” Ross and Jeff couldn't make this one, so Sam is joined here by INTC friend and former R&T staffer Kyle Kinard. Kyle is smart and funny, and he was at Indy for that test. Related Trivia: Kinard's nickname at R&T was “Kinardi,” after former IndyCar driver Alex Zanardi. The backstory is not ours to share, but it does involve—coincidence alert!—a McLaren and significant personal clenching. Car magazines, y'all! It's a weird gig. Na záver roka tu máme pre vás to najlepšie a najrýchlejšie, čo múdre konštruktérske hlavy v histórii F1 vymysleli a elitní piloti priviedli k dokonalosti. Teda takmer. Tu sú tri najdominantnejšie monoposty, ich technologické tajomstvá s etalónom neporaziteľnosti. V čom sa líši RB19 od RB18? Čím bol revolučný McLaren MP4/4 z roku 1988? Čo je to Anti-dive? Ako so slabším motorom porazilo Ferrari Williams BMW? 1. Rudolf Uhlenhaut. Mercedes W196R (1954). Inyección. 2. John Cooper. Cooper T43 (1958). Motor central. 3. Mauro Forghieri. Ferrari 312 (1970). Amor al detalle. 4. Derek Gardner. Tyrrel P34 (1976). 6 mejor que 4. 5. Peter Wright. Lotus 78 (1977). El coche ala. 6. Gordon Murray. Brabham BT46B (1978). Coche “aspiradora”. 7. Patrick Head. Williams FW15C (1993). Suspensión activa. 8. John Barnard. McLaren MP4/1 (1981). El coche de carbono. 9. Steve Nichols. McLaren MP4/4 (1988). “The record car”. 10. Rory Byrne. Ferrari F2004 (2004). El mejor Ferrari. 11. Ross Brawn. Brawn Mercedes BGP001 (2009). Difusores. 12. Aldo Costa. Mercedes F1 W04 Hybrid (2013). Dominador. 12+1. Adrian Newey. Red Bull RB19 (2023). “Recordman”.

Dan Prosser talks with Steve Nichols, one of the great Formula 1 designers. He won multiple F1 World Championships with McLaren in the 1980s and 1990s, and witnessed first-hand how Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost battled for the 1988 title in the mighty McLaren MP4/4. Nichols also talks about working with Niki Lauda, as well as his new road-going supercar, the Nichols N1A. The best writers, the finest stories and no ads, all on The Intercooler's beautiful website.

Episode 1898: Our article of the day is McLaren MP4-21.
18,400 RPM and 900HP from a 3L V10 engine ...and not a turbo in sight on this McLaren MP4/15.At today's mainstream levels of technology, 900HP V-10 NA is not a cakewalk from an engine with a 3L capacity, and then when you throw 18,400 RPM into the mix but still demand drivability it becomes even more difficult yet this is exactly what Mercedes were doing with their Formula 1 technology way back in the year 2000.Want to learn how to EFI tune? Start with some free lessons right here: hpcdmy.co/tunebAs a former long-time Formula One engineer for David Coulthard, Tim White of Garage 59 knows a thing or two about F1 technology, and at the recent Goodwood Festival of Speed Hillclimb Andre was lucky enough to spend a bit of time with Tim and the McLaren MP4/15 which finished 3rd in the 2000 season snagging victory at Monaco along the way for the former Mercedes-McLaren team.Topics discussed include the double paddle operated clutch and how that helped the drivers of this era launch off the line with a small margin of error compensatable, the pneumatically controlled valve springs which adjust pressure based on RPM and the reason for such a system instead of the more convention steel spring setup. Many of the cars other systems are hydraulically controlled rather than electronically due to weight and technology restrictions at the time as well as the rule book which stated everything must be activated by the driver's input in some way. Also covered are the active trumpets on the intake which can adjust in and out to match the RPM and thus fill in what would otherwise be flat spots in the rev range, and with a potential 18.400 RPM on tap for some of these engines it certainly made a difference in drivability when it came to tracks that had an aggressive mix of both high and low-speed sections seeing the car go from 3000 RPM and around 40kph to 15,000 RPM and over 300kph on the same lap.
Creator of an iconic F1 car, with an inside view of a ferocious racing rivalry: Steve Nichols has witnessed some extraordinary things. The American engineer designed the McLaren MP4/4, the car which stormed to 15 wins in 16 races in 1988. He tells Tom Clarkson the story of the MP4/4's creation and what made it so fast. Working closely with Ayrton Senna as his race engineer, Steve felt the tension between the Brazilian and his teammate Alain Prost as they fought for the title in the car Steve had designed for them. He also tells the story of how and why he left McLaren and followed Prost to Ferrari, a difficult period which included another famous clash with Senna. This week, the guys take a listener request and talk about the 2010 documentary Senna, director Asif Kapadia's look at three-time Formula One champion Ayrton Senna. You could fill libraries with what Mike and Dan don't know about Formula One--so they were the perfect people to go into this cold. The film and its subject won them over in minutes and they talk in this episode about the challenge of dramatizing the desire to be a champion, the ways in which the film could have gone wrong, and the relationship between humility and dignity. How can one of the top teams in F1 at the time produce a car that was never able to race? Glenn Freeman is joined by Edd Straw and ex-McLaren F1 mechanic Marc Priestley to discuss the McLaren MP4-18, which was supposed to race in 2003 but never made it to a grand prix. Why was McLaren launching the car late? Why did that launch date keep getting pushed back? What role did the success of the interim MP4-17D have on McLaren's plans? What fundamental problems did Adrian Newey discover with his radical design? How did McLaren's handling of the project set the wheels in motion for Newey to leave the team? Was McLaren right not to risk the car while Kimi Raikkonen was fighting for a championship? Could Raikkonen have beaten Michael Schumacher to the title if more effort had gone into the MP4-17D? And last but not least, did this famous unraced car in fact end up racing after all?? HAVE YOUR SAY: Contact @wearetherace on social media using #BringBackV10s with comments and questions you want us to tackle in our series finale!

Show #520 Good morning, good afternoon and good evening wherever you are in the world, welcome to EV News Daily for Sunday 7th July 2019. It’s Martyn Lee here and I go through every EV story to save you time. Thank you to MYEV.com for helping make this show, they’ve built the first marketplace specifically for Electric Vehicles. It’s a totally free marketplace that simplifies the buying and selling process, and help you learn about EVs along the way too. Over the weekend I saw PCP added to the Model 3 design studio. For the spec I would have, which is Performance, in black, with Performance upgrade and Full Self Driving that's £59.890. PCP is £6k down and £817 a month over 4 years. We're more than certain that 20 years ago no one would have imagined that an electric car could be be quicker than an F1. The Volkswagen I.D. Crafted by the team behind the Jaguar I-PACE – the brand's first all-electric car – the new saloon promises to deliver in design, performance and luxury, although the company has given no indication as to when it might take to the road. Nyland set this record on IONITY quick chargers in Germany because currently, that network is significantly faster than Tesla’s Superchargers." says Jameson Dow for InsideEVs: "Nyland wanted to emphasize that this record could be done in “realistic” conditions, so there was no closed course and common road rules were followed. The record was set in Germany, on the Autobahn, and was done at high speeds, around 170km/h (105mph) much of the time. Staying at high speeds inbetween stops resulted in an average speed of 115km/h or 72mph over the entire 24 hours. Essentially, he was able to travel the same distance as if he drove at US highway speeds consistently for 24 hours without stopping at all." The sweet spot for charging at the fastest rates was 10%to 63% so they were driving a 120km loop. https://electrek.co/2019/07/05/tesla-youtuber-breaks-24-hour-electric-car-distance-record/ UNITI ONE AVAILABLE TO PRE-ORDER "The Swedish electric car Uniti One is now available to pre-order with a refundable deposit of 149 euros." reports PushEVs: "Usually, small cars are very boxy with bad aerodynamics, but that’s not the case in this electric car. With two tandem seats – just like the Renault TWIZY – this electric car is perfect for the city environment.240 km range 130 km/h top speed Rear wheel drive Dual motors output of 120 kW 26 kWh battery pack, DC fast charging" https://pushevs.com/2019/07/06/uniti-one-available-to-pre-order/ THE ODYSSEY 21 IS THE ELECTRIC OFF ROAD RACE TRUCK FORMULA E WANTS YOU TO GET EXCITED ABOUT "The Extreme E car ran up the hill during the Goodwood Festival of Speed on Saturday afternoon. " according to Jalopnik: "According to Extreme E, the truck sits about 7.5 feet wide, 6.2 feet tall, and 14.4 feet front-to-back. The whole thing, ready to rock and roll, weighs some 3600 pounds. Each of the tires is 37 inches tall with tons of sidewall and lots of knobby Continental rubber to keep the thing trucking forward even in the nasty sand, ice, or dirt that the truck will come into contact with across the season. This is just a show car, built by Spark Racing Technologies [the same company which builds the Formula E chassis], to demonstrate what a finished product might look like." https://jalopnik.com/the-odyssey-21-is-the-electric-off-road-race-truck-form-1836151628 RAJEEV NARAYAN "90% of your listeners may be male but I am not sure that necessarily means that EVs are a "guy thing" Currently 85% of car purchasing decisions are made by women and apparently women are more likely to buy new than men. Men are more likely the ones closing the deal at dealership, but that does not mean that women are not involved in the purchase decision, weather the vehicle is an EV or not. Maybe a better question is why are 90% of EV news daily podcast listeners male?" BRIAN WEATHERALL To avoid any generalising I’ll take the safer option and talk about the woman I know the best, my wife, I’m also safe to know she doesn’t listen to your podcast….. She would no more go to an EV event than to the Motor Show, to her a car is a way to go places and spend my money (sorry “our” money I am reminded). Taking the LEAF means she can spend a little less of her money as she doesn’t need to put fuel in it. Other than that it’s just a car to her. But I’m happy it’s usually the first choice out of our two cars as it only really saves money when it’s moving. I can tell you in the UK Nissan Leaf Owners Group the gender split is 75% men, many are in the group to offer help, some just for the banter, many are there to ask for help, maybe men just need more help? HOWARD ANTHONY SMITH I do not think the demographics of your listening audience are reflective of how women perceive electric vehicles. For example, my spouse really hates listen to or watching shows about cars, but she loves driving my car (PHEV Prius Prime) in all electric mode. She is really excited about the prospects of replacing her vehicle with a Model Y when they become available in the near future. I also have female coworkers who drive Tesla's and are constantly evangelizing to others the benefits of driving electric cars. It could be that stereotypical males really love learning about cars and statistics about cars as a way of playing verbal top trumps with their friends. Personally, I find knowing about vehicles statics provides me with something to talk about in social settings. Talking about electric cars in comparison with ICE vehicles allows me plenty of material to engage with my muscle car owning friends. STEVE JAMES Men just enjoy cars more than women across the range so it doesn’t matter if it’s a petrol, diesel, PHEV or BEV men just enjoy cars more than women. GREG LEFF Hi Martyn - brief note about the QOTW -here in the southwest United States in an affluent suburb of Phoenix, Arizona we have loads of EV’s running around our streets. It’s no scientific analysis but I would hazard a guess that at least 30% of the drivers of those EV’s are female. That’s a minimum guess - I could be as much as 50% or more. In my own household we have 3 vehicles, a Nissan Leaf driven by my daughter, a BMW i3 Rex driven by my wife, and a gas burner driven by me. So you see 100% of the EV’s in my house are female driven. What you’re likely seeing in your listenership is the fact that men are more likely to nerd out over EV’s and want to listen to a podcast talking about them. The women just want to drive and enjoy the smooth, quiet, gas-free miles. BRENNA KAMINSKI I have been involved with EVs since 2012 and after years of running EV education events, advising on infrastructure, and co-founding two EV clubs I decided to launch my own EV consulting service www.evgal.com. Before launching the website I noticed that most of the other consultants out there in the EV world are men, almost all of the videos I watch about EVs feature men hosts and "experts", and the majority of the EV conversations on platforms like LinkedIn are started by men. I know there are other women out there but we aren't being invited into the conversation. STEPHEN AND MICHELLE LOO I believe your 90% male following on youtube / podcast is simply a representation of the market who follow motoring and technology trends. You will probably find your followers also fall into the 25-65 age group as this is the age group when most would have the income or necessity for these items. SANDI WILLIAMS I have a Model 3 Performance, and I love, love, love it. I listen to you probably 4-5 days a week. Did you know that the podcast came pre-loaded as an app on my car? So in case you think woman aren't listening..... this one is, and I love hearing about what is happening in the EV world and it is nice to listen to someone who isn't Tesla bashing. VAIDAS Was asking my missus last night and she is just simply not interested too much, she needs a car thats able to safely move her from A to B in comfort and style :) I think you mentioned your wife is pretty much the same? Perhaps its a man think to talk about cars, no matter if its a V6 BMW or V8 Mustang or V12 Ferrari or 22kWh Zoe CHARLIE FOX In the case of my home, I believe it is down to my wife doesn't really care about cars. She doesn't see value in high dollar cars and is perfectly happy with our two Prius (you know, those self-charging hybrids...) In my case I am, generally, not a car or truck person. However, I am interested in the environment and emissions and from this have been waiting on electrics since GM starting making and crushing cars. And this makes me seek out shows like yours so I can keep up with events and watch for that opportunity to buy. My wife has moved to agree with me that we will not buy another ICE car and we will very likely buy a 45-50k Model Y in 2022. TOM RAFTERY Re my own thoughts on your q, driving rightly or wrongly is something men care more about than women. Go out on the street right now and check out the gender of the drivers of the cars passing you and they will be significantly skewed male. How many married couples do you know where when travelling it is the woman who drives primarily when they are going together in the car (apart from returning from the pub!)? ARON MCINNES Are EV’s a man thing? No I don’t think it is a man thing. I think listening about, researching and dreaming about EV’s is a man thing. It is more likely that men will spend time thinking about a car. Women who drive EV’s love them. I think women just don’t obsess about there next car or what the are going to do with the car they have. IAIN EV's don't seem that unusual in my group of friends and I wonder if gay men are more likely to be environmentally conscious and as a result are more likely to be interested in electrified transport. DAFYDD I think men are generally more likely to be nerds, for a number of reasons. Some of which may be, that many view cars as more than just a tool, to get from A-B. Women despite some men’s attempts, still do most if not all of the family & house things. And all too often have very little time to obsess about irrelevances, such as this car can do that with only that; or will do more with less. DAVID FINCH I checked the list of people who use our workplace EV chargers, and found that there are 7 men and 5 women. A small sample, and near enough to even. So, I think women are just as likely to own and drive an EV as men. I think men are more likely to geek-out about them though, such as listening to a podcast or visiting Fully Charged Live. JOHN FRUHWIRTH In the early days of computing, computers were also a "male" thing until social media came along. As soon as that happened, women became interested as they could now indulge their top priority - relationships. Send me your EV questions: hello@evnewsdaily or use social media. Show #500 Good morning, good afternoon and good evening wherever you are in the world, welcome to EV News Daily for Friday 14th June 2019. For show 500 I welcome two new Patreon supporters. New PRODUCER BILL CLISHAM and new EXECUTIVE PRODUCER ROB HERMANS. "I’ve been listening to your excellent podcast for a few months and it’s better than sliced bread! I’ve learned SO much and really feel in touch with all of the most recent developments in EV land, thanks to you. With your 500th episode coming up, I have decided to become a patron and help you keep up this amazing effort. More power (clean, electric power!) to you, my friend!" My weekend watch recommendation is Bjorn Nyland taking his Model 3 Performance on the German Autobahn at 233kmh. RHD TESLA MODEL 3'S ARRIVE IN UK From R Symons: "Trucks now heading from Dover to London with the first RHD’s for delivery next week. Next Thursday 20/06/19 is D day for my model 3 performance! First UK batch must have been on Grand Dahlia." The white option for interior is back in the design studio. And finally the least important part of the show...the Supercharger Route Planner still only gives you option to plan a route for a Model S or X. ELECTRIC VEHICLES HAVE SAVED 3.6 BILLION LITRES OF FUEL IN THE US The transition to electric vehicles has saved 3.6 billion litres of fuel in the US, with a third of that saved in 2018 alone, new figures from the US Department of Energy have shown." reports Bridie for driven.io: "With more than 1.2 million light plug-in (PHEV) and battery electric vehicles (BEV) now sold in the US alone, amounting to 25 billion miles (40 billion kilometres) driven by PHEVs and BEVs since 2010, fuel consumption by light vehicles has been reduced by 0.23 per cent, the report says. Electric vehicles are still more efficient, even when powered by coal-sourced electricity. But even so, the source of that electricity may bear consideration. In California, 40 per cent of electricity generation is consumed by the transport sector, according to the EIA using data from 2017 – making it the biggest consumer of electricity." https://thedriven.io/2019/06/14/electric-vehicles-have-saved-3-6-billion-litres-of-fuel-in-the-us/ PORSCHE TAYCAN SPIED DURING TIRE-SCREECHING TEST AT THE 'RING More video online of the Porsche Taycan: "Confirmed for a September reveal, the company’s very first EV has been caught for the umpteenth time at the Nürburgring flaunting those hilarious “exhausts” to prove the Germans do have a sense of humor." writes Adrian Padeanu for Motor1.com: "You might be tempted to say the zero-emissions sedan was not wearing any camouflage, but as it approaches a roundabout at the 1:11 mark, we can see it had quite a lot of black tape on the body and also stickers masking the lights. Later in the video, around the 4:15 mark, the prototype is seen in traffic passing by a gas station to reveal its deceiving body-colored camouflage also used by other future members of the Volkswagen Group family." https://www.motor1.com/news/354516/porsche-taycan-spy-video-nurburgring/ FCA SIGNS PARTNERSHIPS WITH ENEL X AND ENGIE GROUP Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) has signed two agreements for new e-Mobility solutions to support the production and distribution of the plug-in hybrid (PHEV) and full-electric (BEV) models rolling out as part of the Group’s 2018-2022 business plan. Through these agreements, FCA dealers will be able to offer innovative charging solutions and services to retail and business customers. This initiative also includes research and testing of new technologies to reduce the total cost of ownership of electrified vehicles. Mike Manley, Chief Executive Officer, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles said: “These partnerships build on the e-mobility strategy we announced last year as part of our five-year business plan We are assembling an eco-system of partners, products and services across multiple markets to meet and exceed the rapidly evolving expectations of our customers for electrified vehicles.” The primary objective of the two partnerships is to offer private and public charging solutions to support sales of FCA’s forthcoming electric vehicle line-up including the soon-to-be-launched Fiat 5oo BEV and Jeep Renegade PHEV. . This includes offering customers the option of installing a home charging point (or “wallbox”) suited to their specific requirements, including charging optimization and smart management. Each partner will support FCA customers with the preliminary feasibility assessment and installation of the wallbox, as well as ongoing management and maintenance throughout the life of the customer vehicle and wallbox. In addition to home charging points, customers will also be offered cost-efficient and convenient access to public charging solutions. FCA and its partners will collaborate on the development of apps that will enable customers to locate public charging points, as well as book and pay for charging services via their vehicle’s integrated connectivity capability. 2019 JAGUAR I-PACE EV400 HSE REVIEW Brandon Turkus at Motor1 has driven the Jaguar I-PACE and written his review: "With 394 horsepower and 512 pound-feet of torque, the I-Pace’s twin electric motors sit neatly between the E-Tron (355 hp and 414 lb-ft of torque, boosted to 402 hp and 490 lb-ft in Boost Mode) and EQC (402 hp and 561 lb-ft). And yet, the Jag is quicker than both its German rivals, taking just 4.5 seconds to hit 60 compared to 5.5 in the Audi and 4.8 in the EQC. The way the Jag gets to that speed, though, is very similar to the Germans. This is an electric car, and its two motors dole out torque-rich performance in big, immediately available lumps. Part of that is down to the single-speed automatic transmission. It’s quick to engage, so there’s hardly any waiting while the torque gets to the ground. But the I-Pace’s handling differs from its rivals. This is a charming dance partner, tipping the scales at a light (for the segment) 4,784 pounds. Its lower center of gravity – the I-Pace is only 61.3 inches tall, over two inches lower than the next closest rival, the 63.9-inch EQC – and more aggressive air suspension deliver a sharper, flatter handling character. You want to toss the I-Pace around and have some fun with it; take advantage of the quick steering and the darty way it can change directions. It’s quite a change of pace from taller, heavier rivals that focus on ride comfort." https://www.motor1.com/reviews/354870/2019-jaguar-i-pace-ev400-hse-review/ VOLKSWAGEN I.D. R RETURNS TO GOODWOOD WITH SPECIAL SPRINT VERSION "Volkswagen announced the return of the I.D. R to the Goodwood Festival of Speed (4 to 7 July) to defend its record EV time of 43.86 seconds from 2018." says InsideEVs.com: "While a year ago the German manufacturer simply used the same technical configuration as at the much longer and more demanding Pikes Peak hill climb, this year Volkswagen developed a special sprint version of the I.D. R. It will be equipped with smaller and lighter, high-power battery pack just for the 1.86-kilometer route, which gives hope to not only improve the record but maybe set an all-time record for the track (41.6 by Nick Heidfeld in McLaren MP4/13 Formula One car in 1999)." https://insideevs.com/news/354805/volkswagen-id-r-returns-goodwood-sprint-version/ FUEL CELL FERRY WATER GO ROUND FINDS FLEET INVESTMENT "The hydrogen ferry Water Go Round currently under construction in the US has found new funding for setting up an entire fleet. SW/TCH Maritime, an investment platform for all kinds of electric maritime vessels is now on board." says electrive.com: "A first unit of the 84-passenger ferry powered by fuel cells is currently under construction at the Bay Ship & Yacht shipyard in California and set for completion this September. The next step will be a three-month trial in the San Francisco Bay, also to act as a flagship for SW/TCH’s future fleet. The tanks will hold up to 264 kg of hydrogen, which is enough to run the ferry for two days straight, according to the manufacturers. For refilling the tanks, SW/TCH is partnering with Clean Marine Energy (CME) to develop electric charging and hydrogen fueling infrastructure onshore." https://www.electrive.com/2019/06/13/fuel-cell-ferry-water-go-round-finds-fleet-investment/ TESLA IS DELIVERING 1,000 CARS A DAY EN ROUTE TO RECORD QUARTER "Electrek has learned that Tesla is currently delivering cars at a rate of approximately 1,000 a day. As we reported earlier this month, Tesla aims to deliver between 33,000 and 36,000 vehicles in June in North America to break its delivery record." says Fred Lambert: "According to sources familiar with the matter, Tesla has been delivering cars at a rate of approximately 1,000 a day in North America so far this month. Furthermore, there are almost 7,000 more deliveries planned over the next 7 days and even more last-minute deliveries are expected over the last week of the quarter as buyers try to get deliveries before the now $3,750 federal tax credit on Tesla vehicles goes down again. It’s important to keep in mind that even if Tesla doesn’t achieve this record, they are still delivering all-electric vehicles at a higher pace than any other automaker at this point. By a huge margin. In North America, Tesla is delivering more EVs in 3 days than GM is delivering in a whole month." https://electrek.co/2019/06/14/tesla-delivering-1000-cars-day-record-quarter/ HYUNDAI KONA EV #1 IN NETHERLANDS IN MAY "The Dutch plug-in electric vehicle (PEV) market had another positive month in May, with 2,688 plug-in vehicle registrations — up 193% year over year (YoY). That translated into a PEV share of 7.3% on the broader auto market. The year-to-date (YTD) count is now up to 15,537 units, with the 2019 PEV share at 8.3%, well above the 6% of last year." reports CleanTechnica: "If we only consider fully electric vehicles (BEVs), the EV share last month was 6.3%, with the 2019 share being 7%. A bit surprisingly, the VW e-Golf was 4th, with 227 units, a meritable performance for a model that is less than a year from being replaced by the much more competitive VW ID.3. I guess name recognition is a strong point here." https://cleantechnica.com/2019/06/14/hyundai-kona-ev-1-in-netherlands-in-may-tesla-model-3-still-1-in-2019/ RIVIAN'S USED BATTERIES WILL HELP SUPPORT "Now, we have an idea of what Rivian wants to do with its batteries once they're no longer usable in its vehicles." says Roadshow by CNET: "Rivian announced this week that it has teamed up with the Honnold Foundation, which funds solar power initiatives, for a future project that will use Rivian's "second-life" batteries, also known as a used EV battery that's already done its time in an electric vehicle. The project will see these batteries as gateways to energy independence and renewable power generation, and it'll kick off in Adjuntas, Puerto Rico.
