Herzlich Willkommen zu einer neuen Podcast Folge im Pinktober. Heute mit einem ganz großen Herzensthema. Die liebe Pia war bei mir zu Gast. Es ist mir eine sehr wichtige Herzens Angelegenheit, das Pink Kids Camp in die Welt zu bringen, für alle Kinder im Alter von 14 und 18 Jahren. Pia steckt hinter dem Account "Arschbrüste" und in ihrer Familie ist die genetische Disposition BRCA1. Nachdem Tod ihrer Schwester Manja, kümmerte sich Pia intensiv um ihre Gesundheit und unternahm eine prophylaktische Mastektomie. Seit mehreren Jahren engagiert sich Pia in dem Bereich Brustkrebs bzw. für Jugendliche deren Mama erkrankt ist. Each October, Our MBC Life marks Breast Cancer Awareness month with a special episode dedicated to all those who died from metastatic breast cancer over the past year. But one podcast can't begin to encompass and reflect the true toll of all of the lives cut short by this ruthless and terminal disease. Here's the hard truth about MBC, according to advocacy and research organization Metavivor: In the US alone, an estimated 42,360 women and 530 men will die from the disease in 2023—117 per day. And despite the optimism around early detection and prevention that infuses “Pinktober” and its focus on survivorship, one in three diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer will eventually progress to become metastatic. Only 10% are metastatic at their first breast MBC diagnosis. This painful and sobering reality—that so many of us ultimately develop the kind of breast cancer that kills—needs to be part of the annual month-long conversation about breast cancer. Most importantly, it should help to guide decisions about how breast cancer research funds are invested. Shockingly, the estimated share of breast cancer research dollars that go to MBC is 5%. And while new treatments are extending survival for many with MBC, the disease is still terminal. To live with your own diagnosis or to be a loved one, caregiver, or friend of someone with MBC is to inhabit a community of loss. Every day, we confront the reality of mortality and struggle to balance fear with hope, and sorrow with joy. “We Remember” is OMBCL's opportunity to give voice to the profound grief we share and to honor and celebrate each person we've lost. It's a chance to express our gratitude for the extraordinary and unique ways they made our lives richer. Herzlich Willkommen zu einer neuen Podcast Folge im Pinktober. Dieses Mal hatte ich die wundervolle Sahand zu Gast. Eine Folge voller Mut und Wunder. Hey mein Name ist Sahand, ich bin 37 Jahre alt und habe eine 6 jährige Tochter. Im Januar 2023 bekam ich die Diagnose Brustkrebs, schnell wachsend und aggressiv. Beim Staging kam plötzlich die Frage auf: Zweittumor oder Metastase? Besorgte Blicke der Ärzte, denn mit einer 7cm großen Metastase an der Luftröhre, hätte mein Leben ein schnelles Ende genommen. Nach zwei Operationen und vielen Wochen des Wartens stand fest: Zweittumor. Ok wie kann das sein, wir haben keinen Krebs in der Familie und ich habe gleich zwei? Der zweite stellte sich ebenfalls als nicht ganz so harmlos dar: Hodgkin Lymphom (Lymphdrüsenkrebs) mit Metastasen in der Lunge und somit ein Stadium 4. Ich machte das durch was wahrscheinlich jeder Mensch mit schwerer Krankheit durchlebt: Todesangst verbunden mit Ohnmacht, unendliche Trauer, Machtlosigkeit und anschließend Wut. Mit diesen starken Gefühlen, lässt sich ein Alltag mit Kind schwer bewältigen. Ich entschied den schweren Weg der vor mir lag zu akzeptieren und der Krankheit keinen hohen Stellenwert in meinem Alltag beizumessen. Part 1 - Barb Michaud and Annette Harrigan from the organization Cancer Support VI join Neville James as they celebrate Pinktober and discuss the work they do and the impact they hope to continue making as they support cancer patients in the VI.  Cancer Support VI (CSVI) was founded in 2005 as a sponsored Fund of the Community Foundation of the Virgin Islands. Their mission is to work with patients, medical institutions, and community organizations to support those impacted by cancer.

Anne ist stark sehbeeinträchtigt ist MTU bei discovering hands und Melanie ist MTU Trainerin. Brustkrebs ist nach wie vor die häufigste Krebserkrankung und eine der häufigsten Todesursachen von Frauen – jedes Jahr erkranken in Deutschland knapp 70.000 Frauen an Brustkrebs. Eine frühzeitige Entdeckung von Brustkrebs ermöglicht eine weniger belastende Behandlung und verbessert die Überlebenschancen der Patient:innen erheblich. Vorsorge- und Krebs­früh­erkennungs-Angebote in Deutschland müssen verbessert werden: Das Mammographie-Screening wird erst für Frauen ab 50 Jahren angeboten – eine präventive Mammographie ist vor diesem Zeitpunkt nicht vorgesehen, obwohl etwa 20% der Brust­krebs-Neuer­krankungen auf Frauen unter 50 Jahren entfallen. Die Brust­tast­untersuchung durch Gynäkolog:innen, die für Frauen zwischen 30 und 50 Jahren die einzige Brust­krebs­-Früh­erkennungs­maßnahme darstellt, wird jedoch nicht nach standardisierten und validierten Abläufen und oft unter hohem Zeitdruck discovering hands bildet blinde und sehbehinderte Frauen zu Medizinisch-Taktilen Untersucherinnen (MTUs) aus, die im Rahmen der Brustkrebs­früherkennung eingesetzt werden und diese durch ihre besonderen Tastfähigkeiten nachhaltig verbessern. Die Taktilographie hat viele wissenschaftlich belegte Erfolge vorzuweisen: MTUs ertasten circa 30 Prozent mehr Gewebe­veränderungen als Ärzte. Den Anfang macht die wundervolle Caroline Georgy, die ich über LebensHeldin! kennen gelernt habe. Caroline ist 2007 an Brustkrebs erkrankt und erzählt dir hier ihre wundervolle, berührende Geschichte. Der Brustkrebs kam vorbereitet. Nach wochenlanger Behandlung durch meinen Gynäkologen, der auf Brustentzündung therapiert hatte, wechselte ich den Arzt. Dieser warf einen einzigen Blick auf meine rechte Brust und griff nach dem Telefonhörer. Im Krankenhaus wurde eine Stanze gemacht. Die Diagnose inflammatorischer, Faust großer und aggressiver Tumor veränderte das Leben meiner kleinen Familie schlagartig. Meine Söhne waren 3 und 11 Monate alt. Für meinen Mann brach eine Welt zusammen. Ich sollte keine Überlenbenschance haben. Heute, 17 Jahre nach dem schrecklichen Jahr 2004, lebe ich gesund mit meinen erwachsenen Söhnen und meiner 96 jährigen Mutter in Hamburg und arbeite an meinem eigenen Business: Frauen in die Selbstständigkeit zu begleiten, stark zu machen in deren Persönlichkeit und mit Nachhaltigkeit und Ethik die Welt durch ihre Arbeit besser, grüner und enkeltauglicher zu machen. With no family history, 32-year-old Jeannine found a lump in her breast. After getting a mammogram, she was 1) notified that she had dense breast tissue, and 2) the lump she found was diagnosed as a cyst. No further information. Four years later, with the guidance of her primary care physician, as well as her physician sister, Jeannine was faced with the news of finding something 'concerning' - with question if she wanted the small lump to be biopsied. With a firm YES to get biopsied, she quickly heard another yes (again) when she was notified, on Christmas Eve, that yes, she did indeed have breast cancer at age 36. Hovering at stage 2 and knowing there was a 3-6% chance of reoccurrence if she chose chemotherapy as treatment, Jeannine chose not to have chemotherapy, adding an additional complication of cancer... thoughts of being a fraudulent patient loomed as not being serious. Because of her cancer, Jeannine and her husband were forced to discuss child planning, which wasn't something they were ready for. DISCUSSED IN THIS EPISODE: Mammograms save lives, they just don't save everyone's lives. Jeannine doesn't believe in the pink bullshit. Stop trying to fit breast cancer into a pretty pink box. Linda Mantke-Dolezan of Benton Harbor is a warrior who's been fighting breast cancer for over a decade. A self-titled #momcologist, she's currently undergoing chemotherapy for Stage IV MBC (Metastatic Breast Cancer.) She recounts her personal story in this episode, concluding Pinktober 2020.
