Alex allowed me to use his latest product invention the Vital Headphones, and let me tell you, it was the most amazing technological experience of my life. My brain was massaged. My parasympathetic nervous system was activated. It was the most incredible 15 minute meditation. I really wanted to learn from Alex how he was able to be such an awesome creator. Since no one product is going to be perfect for everyone, having many options for patients and professionals is important and Vital Neuro's music-based app and headset are a welcome addition to the space. The form factor of their headphones, combined with discrete EEG sensors and personalized music content, sets them apart from other players in this space. The fact that Vital Neuro has made the decision to explore the efficacy of their products distinguishes them from most of the other systems currently in the market, and it demonstrates their commitment to research-backed product development.” --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/purelivingfamily/support

about the guest: Alex developed a specialty in Hospitality, Food & Beverage - advising many of the UK's leading brands. It was here - while working on a project for one of the UK's largest bar chains - that he discovered the vast shortcomings in the mixer category and came up with the idea for AVEC. Growing up in the UK, but of Australian & Canadian heritage - he has always been obsessed with flavor. Always mobile and exploring new foods and cultures - Alex loves to cook and will talk excitedly about food and ingredients - especially those in AVEC. about the brand: Bored with the uninspired mixers they'd been using in their cocktails, Denetrias 'Dee' Charlemagne and Alex Doman decided to switch things up. A Bronx native, Harvard alum and former Ad Executive, the only mixology Dee had known was in the kitchen of her Harlem apartment. A former F&B strategy consultant, UK native Alex Doman was working for some of the UKs leading hospitality chains bored with the monotony of Gin + Tonics at any bar he frequented. After a lot of trial and error, the two brewed up something impressive: AVEC, mixers that are made with 80-90% less sugar, flavored with real juice and botanical extracts rather than so-called "natural flavors," and are just as tasty with alcohol as they are solo - in flavors like Jalapeño & Blood Orange, Hibiscus & Pomegranate, and Yuzu & Lime. where to get it: https://avecdrinks.com/ what I slurped: I loved the Hibiscus & Pomegranate, and the Grapefruit & Pomelo! more info: These drank really well on their own over ice with some citrus in the glass, and also added a great pop of flavor and effervescence to some n/a drinks I made for some friends!

Her experience there allowed her to understand how brand communities are built.AVEC leans heavily into storytelling in its own brand, even with its name. AVEC means “with” in French. An aspirational goal for AVEC is to have people order drinks with liquors and its flavors (i.e. Tequila AVEC Yuzu & Lime). Many eCommerce businesses today are focused on performance marketing. While this is important, AVEC likes to lean more into storytelling. One of the first meetings Dee and her co-founder, Alex, had revolved around brand values. These are incredibly important to build brand equity. It’s important to give your brand personality (and be personal)In addition to writing down brand values, Dee thinks brand personality is important. Dee suggests writing down three words that describe your brand. The best brands are part of culture. Think about how your brand can take things from culture and include it in your story.Pick cultures that share the same values as your brand and draw from those. For example, Supreme draws heavily from the skateboard and hip-hop culture. As you add personality to your brand, it’s also important to be personal yourself. Dee and Alex put time every day into crafting media relationships. They even hand-deliver items themselves.Relationships should also not be transactional. Having a very honest approach can go a long way to building brand trust and brand equity.By continuously putting time towards building relationships, AVEC has been able to gain a lot of press.Stay tuned as Dee also talks about how AVEC has tapped into their local community to grow, what challenges they have faced and overcome, and what’s next for the brand. If you’d like to learn more about Trend and our influencer marketing platform for influencers and brands visit trend.io. This episode begins with some surprising information how why people love cheese so much.I’m sure you have, at some point in your life, relied on your “gut instinct.” You made a decision that just felt right at that moment. And while that may be fine for small decisions – is it really smart to use your gut to make the big decisions? After all – what exactly is your gut? Well, Mary Ellen O’Toole, author of Dangerous Instincts (https://amzn.to/2OAbkE5), is a former FBI profiler who has seen plenty of people get in trouble because the “went with their gut.” If you want to keep you and your family safe – you should hear what she has to say.Sound is all around you. Debilitating brain disorders are on the rise - from children diagnosed with autism and ADHD to adults developing dementia at younger ages than ever before. But a medical revolution is underway that can solve this problem. Brain Maker opens the door to unprecedented brain health potential. Astonishing new research is revealing that the health of your brain is, to an extraordinary degree, dictated by the state of your microbiome – the vast population of organisms that live in your body and outnumber your own cells ten to one. What’s taking place in your intestines today is determining your risk for any number of brain-related conditions. In his bestselling book Brain Maker, Dr. Perlmutter uncovers the powerful role of gut bacteria in determining your brain’s destiny. He explains the potent interplay between intestinal microbes and the brain, describing how the microbiome develops from birth and evolves based on lifestyle choices, how it can become “sick,” and how nurturing gut health through a few easy strategies can alter your brain’s destiny for the better. Beatie Wolfe has beamed her music into space, been designated a UN role model for innovation, done groundbreaking research on the power of music for people with dementia, created the world’s first live 360 AR ‘anti-stream’ from the quietest room on earth, and is the subject of new documentary commissioned by the Barbican directed by Ross Harris.    Beatie Wolfe is an Anglo-American singer songwriter with an acoustic indie rock sound. Described by GQ as "smoky captivating melodies” and by Highsnobiety as “timeless romantic song-craft, Wolfe's music pulls from the brooding poeticism of Leonard Cohen, the tender haunting melodies of Elliott Smith and often veers into Americana territory.” Wolfe's live show has been hailed as "breathtaking" (The New York Times) and “a profound delivery of depth and soul” (BBC)   Named by WIRED Magazine as one of "22 people changing the world,” Beatie Wolfe is at the forefront of pioneering new formats for music, which reunite tangibility, storytelling and ceremony to the album in this digital age. In this vein, Wolfe has created a series of world’s-first designs that bridge the physical and digital, including: a 3D vinyl for the palm of your hand; an intelligent album deck of cards; a wearable record jacket - cut by the tailor who dressed Bowie and Hendrix out of fabric woven with Wolfe’s music - and most recently the world's first live 360 AR stream from the quietest room on earth and a Space Beam via the Big Bang Horn Wolfe’s work has been featured in the world’s leading museums (including a major solo exhibition at the V&A Museum), festivals, conferences and received nominations across the music, tech and art fields. Forbes calls Wolfe "an Artist with a capital A" for mixing her music with art, technology and science and taking it to entirely new dimensions. Wolfe is also the co-founder of a “profound” (The Times) research project looking at the power of music for people living with dementia In this episode listen in as Alex Doman sits down with Beatie in her Los Angeles home to explore her story so far, and what is unfolding, including her new album with Linda Perry. Each one is designed to spark new creative connections by challenging our usual ways of thinking, feeling, and perceiving. These lessons, tools, and techniques serve to unlock great reservoirs of creativity in every individual, whether it's jumpstarting or completing a project, launching a new business, creating a work of art, experiencing more fulfilling relationships, or making other dreams come true. Bain's motivational guidance includes: rewiring your brain to unleash ultra-creativity; finding freedom from self-criticism, perfectionism, and other obstructions to productivity and creative expression; harnessing the two forces of creativity: inspiration and action; discovering your emotions as the doorway to creative aliveness and ingenuity; and heeding the call of your Real Work, regardless of age, education, or experience. Step by step, you will make the discovery of a lifetime: how to stop being ruled by your past and start consciously creating your present and future. You will be surprised and energized—by your next creative impulse, the next idea that excites you, the next experience that moves you—and you will live a creative life. Join host Alex Doman and his guest Barnet Bain as they discuss his new book Doing and Being.

Each year, increasing numbers of children are being diagnosed with autism, ADHD, dyslexia, learning disabilities and other neurological disorders. Parents are bombarded by different theories as to the causes of their child's difficulties, and often confused by the many approaches offered to help them manage or overcome, behavioral, emotional, learning, and social challenges. Dr. Robert Melillo has spent much of his career researching the underlying causes of neurobehavioral disorders. This work led him to suggest a concept called functional disconnection that he and his colleagues suggest may be the primary issue in most learning disabilities and behavioral disorders. Join host Alex Doman and his guest Dr. Melillo as they discuss neurological disorders in childhood, functional disconnection, and drug-free treatment options intended to help both children and adults improve brain function.

Debilitating brain disorders are on the rise-from children diagnosed with autism and ADHD to adults developing dementia at younger ages than ever before. But a medical revolution is underway that can solve this problem: Astonishing new research is revealing that the health of your brain is, to an extraordinary degree, dictated by the state of your microbiome - the vast population of organisms that live in your body and outnumber your own cells ten to one. What's taking place in your intestines today is determining your risk for any number of brain-related conditions. In his latest book Brain Maker, the New York Times # 1 bestselling author of Grain Brain uncovers the powerful role of gut bacteria in determining your brain's destiny. Neurologist David Perlmutter, MD explains the potent interplay between intestinal microbes and the brain, describing how the microbiome develops from birth and evolves based on lifestyle choices, how it can become "sick," and how nurturing gut health through a few easy strategies can alter your brain's destiny for the better. With simple dietary recommendations and a highly practical program of six steps to improving gut ecology, BRAIN MAKER opens the door to unprecedented brain health potential. Join host Alex Doman and David Perlmutter as they discuss Brain Maker, brain disorders, and how to open the door to brain health. Brain Maker is now the #1 brain health book in America (Amazon).

Autism: Identifying the Biochemical Fingerprint

Accumulating evidence has demonstrated that autism is often characterized by complex abnormalities such as oxidative stress, mitochondrial dysfunction, inflammation, certain genetic abnormalities, exposure(s) to environmental toxicants, immunological abnormalities, infections, and in some cases, developmental regression and seizures. These abnormalities may contribute to the symptoms of autism, such as sleep problems, obsessive behavior, speech delay, impaired social interaction, self-stimulatory behavior, hyperactivity, inattention, and abnormal gastrointestinal findings. Many children with autism have a unique combination of these abnormalities and may possess some or all of these problems simultaneously. The early identification of these abnormalities helps clinicians and parents to choose the most effective treatment options. Dr. Rossignol's aim is to identify the unique biochemical abnormalities that each individual possesses (e.g., the biochemical fingerprint) and works to create the most effective treatments for these abnormalities using evidence-based medicine principles. Join host Alex Doman and Dr. Dan Rossignol as they discuss the latest biomedical research in the autism field, his approach toward individualized treatment, and efforts to prepare other medical professionals to deliver the best possible care to children with autism through the Medical Academy of Pediatric Special Needs (MAPS).
