It is the 275th episode of The Jake's Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast! I am excited to welcome Ed Eason to the podcast to celebrate this milestone! Ed made his Reality TV debut on the debut season of Netflix's The Circle US. He entered late in the game and was joined by his mother, Tammy. Despite arriving in episode eight, the duo were blocked and exited the show on episode 11. He also became a trailblazer when he became the first cast member of The Circle US to crossover to MTV's long-running Reality TV competition series The Challenge. Ed Eason entered The Challenge: Spies, Lies, and Allies in the second episode, where he was partnered with fellow rookie Emy Alupei. The duo found themselves in hot water after they lost the “Heli Heist” mission. However, Ed and Emy faced Kelz Dyke and Love Island Germany champion Tracy Candela in the Flipping Agents elimination, where they won and were reassigned partners. Ed picked veteran Tori Deal, and they won the Sea Cave Recon challenge. They remained safe until episode eight. In episode nine, two-time fan-favorite Challenge champion Ashley “Millionaire” Mitchell teamed up with Ed in the “Bombshell Battle” mission. In episode 10, the duo joined forces with Amanda Garcia, CT Tamburello, Nelson Thomas, and Bettina Buchannan to form Sapphire Cell. The group lost the first two missions, and Ed found himself in the elimination ring, where he lost to fan-favorite Kyle Christie in the iconic Pole Wrestle game. Two years later, Ed Eason returned to The Challenge as a part of their 39th season: Battle for a New Champion, where he squared off against other contenders hoping to become the show's latest winner. Ed partnered with Olivia Kaiser, Colleen Schneider, and various teams throughout that season to get through the game. He won three daily challenges before he left the show in Episode 16. On the 275th episode of The Jake's Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast, Ed Eason spoke about his experiences on The Circle US and The Challenge and building his social media audience. To access our conference library of 200+ fascinating psychology talks and interviews (with certification), please visit: https://twumembers.com Dr Scott Kellogg and Amanda Garcia Torres are co-directors of the Chairwork Psychotherapy Initiative - an innovative therapy training organisation which empowers mental health professionals to integrate chairwork with their therapeutic approach. I attended one of their trainings in September 2023 and it was incredibly powerful, turning over many of the assumptions I held about how therapy should be done. In this conversation, we explore: — The therapeutic benefits of viewing human beings as containing multiple different parts — The two origins of the inner critic and why it may be behind the vast majority of mental health problems — How chairwork can be applied to heal addiction, trauma, and a wide range of issues. — How this approach helps to create space and distance internally from maladaptive coping parts that may be having a negative effect in our lives. It is a pleasure to welcome back my friend, reality TV star, two-time Challenge finalist, and the Ten Management founder Paulie Calafiore to The Jake's Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast. Paulie first made his way to Reality TV when he was cast on CBS's Big Brother 18, where he won two HOHs and three Vetos before being evicted on Day 66. He next made his MTV debut on Ex on the Beach USA's inaugural season. After the show, Paulie ventured onto The Challenge: Final Reckoning, where he teamed up with Big Brother rival Natalie Negrotti. Despite being eliminated in the second and third episodes, the duo returned to the game near the season's end, where they ultimately placed third. He returned for War of the Worlds 1 and partnered with Natalie “Ninja” Duran and (for two episodes) Georgia Harrison. Paulie won seven daily challenges but did not make it to the finale. In War of the Worlds 2, he, along with girlfriend Cara Maria Sorbello, Ninja, and series veterans Ashley Mitchell, Kam Williams, and Leroy Garrett, took command of Team USA and won four different daily challenges before gassing out and coming in second place. Four years after War of the Worlds 2, Paulie Calafiore returned to CBS to compete in The Challenge USA: Season 2. Despite reconnecting with allies such as Amanda Garcia, Cory Wharton, and Wes Bergmann and rebuilding bridges with foes including Johnny Bananas, Josh Martinez, and Tori Deal, Paulie was sent home early after he lost to the seven-time Challenge champion in the Fire and Ice arena game. When he is not on Reality TV, Paulie owns Ten Management and is co-captain of The Soccer Tournament team, the Kingdom FC, with his brother – fellow Big Brother legend Cody Calafiore. He also launched the Invite Only! Podcast with Cara Maria and Paulie Calafiore. On the podcast, the duo discusses various topics ranging from relationships and weird internet finds to conversations with guests, such as social media influencer Ashley K Hawaii and fitness icon Shaun T. In this edition of The Jake's Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast, Paulie Calafiore spoke about his The Challenge USA 2 experience, coming out as bisexual on the show, and what he is looking for in athletes who want to join him and Cody on the 2024 Kingdom FC team.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/show/jakes-take-with-jacob-elyachar/support.

In tonight's Episode 87 we spoke with the amazing Amanda Garcia (or AG as I call her). Amanda closed out January's theme of New Resolutions: MIND, BODY & SOUL. We definitely had “Trainer Talk” where we laughed at some of our experiences as personal trainers. We spoke about fitness trends, the balance of healthy eating, the importance of discipline and the MIND & BODY connection in Fitness. As a former athlete herself, AG is back in school focusing on Physical Therapy. You can catch her training & teaching her energetic group fitness classes anywhere from indoor to outdoor to virtual platforms. AG's passion to help and motivate others reigned evident during this interview. With the heights Fitness has reached over the years, it was refreshing to converse with someone who genuinely loves what she does. Get early access to our latest psychology lectures: http://bit.ly/new-talks5 Chairwork is a highly emotional and very powerful experiential psychotherapy that is currently undergoing a renaissance as clinicians all over the world are beginning to integrate it into their practices. Originally created by Dr. Jacob Moreno, the creator of Psychodrama, it was made famous in the 1960s by Dr. Frederick “Fritz” Perls, the creator of Gestalt Therapy. Chairwork, at its essence, involves: (a) inviting a patient to sit in one chair and to have an imaginary encounter with someone from the past, the present, or the future in the chair opposite; and/or (b) using several chairs to create dialogues among different parts of the self—with love, desire, fear, and courage often emerging as core themes. This presentation will include an introduction to the Four Dialogues – which is a crystallization of over 50 years of Chairwork Practice. Using Chairwork to: — Engage with Difficult Relationships; — Heal from Grief and Loss; and — Work through Traumatic Memories This will be followed by live case consultation/demonstrations with volunteers by Amanda Garcia Torres, LMHC & Dr Scott Kellogg, PhD. -- Amanda Garcia Torres, LMHC is a certified Chairwork Psychotherapist and Co-Director of Training at the Transformational Chairwork Psychotherapy Project. Amanda Garcia, proud Tejana, chats with me in this episode about her experience and her family's experience as Mexican Americans in Texas. This leads to an enlightening, reflective conversation about how we as teachers help to shape students' identities through our lessons and our interactions with them. Amanda gives us ideas about how to be practitioners who honor our students' cultures, customs, and languages and leaves us with questions to reflect upon our practices, as our intention to help our diverse body of students isn't as influential as the impact of our actions and words.Amanda's Reflection Questions:Were my biases in check for that lesson? Were my students centered and were my students' voices amplified?Am I asking students for feedback regularly? Is my classroom an echo chamber or a comfortable space?Want to get in touch with Amanda?Email: amanda-3.garcia@nisd.netTwitter: @mrs_GworldLet's be Friends!Instagram: @teachinghistoryherwayTwitter: http://www.twitter.com/historyherwayOn the Web/Blog: http://www.teachinghistoryherway.comFacebook: http://www.facebook.com/teachinghistoryherway

On this episode of “Sanity” Dr. Jason Duncan, Dr. Scott Kellogg, and Amanda Garcia Torres discuss transformational chairwork. Transformational chairwork is a transtheoretical psychotherapy technique which involves utilizing physical chairs in a session to parse out various “parts” of ourselves, speak from these parts, and allow our inner leader to gain control. Chairwork can also be used to role-play difficult conversations or as a part of grief therapy to reconcile any issues with individuals who have passed. Dr. Kellogg and Amanda Garcia Torres discussed the various components of chairwork and described how it can be used in conjunction with other psychotherapy modalities, such as cognitive restructuring in treatment for OCD. One of the core pieces of chairwork is about creating space for these various parts we may have been unable to hear through the chaos of everything else going on, or we have lost touch with. Amanda Garcia Torres also shares how chairwork can be used to treat issues related to social justice and traumatization from oppression. The episode ends with Amanda Garcia Torres leading Dr. Duncan through a chairwork role-play regarding feelings of anxiety. This is a great podcast for clinicians wanting to learn more about this psychotherapeutic technique, or any future client who may find this work beneficial for their psychological struggles. This weeks guest is the wonderful Amanda Garcia! Heres a little more about Amanda: "It's never too late to go back to school. On our first date, my now partner, Jose, shared some of the struggles he faced when trying to go to college straight out of high school. Fast forward a few months later...plus knowledge of how to navigate the system, he was able to go back to school and take advantage of campus resources. As we discussed his journey and some of the barriers he faced, we had an "ah ha" moment. We thought about the community we live in and how we come into contact with people who didn't have the proper support to go to college. We thought about the people we've spoken to who have said, "I wish I could have gone, I wish I knew someone I could talk to, I wish I knew how to get started." I want to reach people who have always wondered but never had a resource to reach out to. As a Community College counselor, I have worked with students who are: first-generation, undocumented, re-entry (25+ years old), students who have disabilities, students who are parents, and so many more. My goal is to serve as a resource and to show people, it is possible!" Follow Amanda on the Gram! @agarcia9323 -------------------------------------------------------------- Love this episode?
